I hired Richard "Chip" Castell to perform home inspections on two different properties that I was interested in purchasing. In both cases, he arrived promptly at our pre-determined meeting time. He proceeded to get right to work and did a thorough job inspecting the entire house. He continually pointed out things that I may want to make extra note of as well as showing me things regarding how certain home appliances works and were the breaker box, water shut of value and HVAC filter went. In the first home, he found several issues stemming from rot on the wood siding, older roof with the potential to leak, structually damages in the crawl space, electrical wiring that was not up to code and a leak in the master bedroom sink. Because I his inspection, I immediatly resinded my offer on the home. In the second house, which I ended up purchasing, he did a wonderful job in checking everything out and gave me an overall good feeling about this property. He even contacted the installer for the Heat Pump system with Gas backup as we were unsure about what the setting the thermostate had been programmed for. Chip provided me a very comprehensive report of all his findings which helped tremendously when negotiating corrective measures with the home's owner. I would highly recommend his services.
