On the first visit, the worker was only able to perform the dryer vent cleaning (I have forgotten why). The dryer vent was successfully cleaned and done in an efficient manner! On the second visit, a worker came out and patched the interior of the chimney. Again, the work was done efficiently and we were pleased with the result. They had brought the wrong chimney cap, however, so they told us they would send someone back out the next day (we knew we would not be home) and replace the chimney cap. Sure enough, we came home the next day and a new chimney cap had been installed! No complaints.

The previous owners of our house installed a gas fire insert; however, they did not clean the chimney beforehand. I bought the big deal to have it cleaned. Because it was so dirty and I had no idea how to use it, we had never used the fireplace. The workers arrived and cleaned the chimney. I explained to them that I didn't know how to use it. He spent 20 extra minutes to get it running and show me how to work it. I appreciate the extra mile. This is why I gave them an A.

Team was very professional and very careful to not make a mess. Initial service was cleaning the flue only, but I also asked them to install new caps on both flues. They also recommended repair work on the flue to seal cracked areas near the firebox and repair cracks in the top of the flue. However, this repair work would be significant extra cost ($700) and would have to be scheduled for a later date.

He looked at the chimney to start the sweep. After looking at the wood burning stove, he noticed that it was installed incorrectly and it would have been a bigger liability issue. He said he would talk to the landlord and let them know of the options. I appreciated his honesty.

They were late but I realized that they called a different phone number and left a message first thing in the morning letting me know they would be arriving late. The entire inspection and cleaning only took 30-40 minutes. They came back with $2500 worth of chimney work/repair that needed to be done. In the meantime we had other more pressing work on the house that needed to be done so we have not had this chimney work completed. The company called a few months later and offered us a 10% discount but, again, because of the other more pressing work that needed to be done we did not opt to complete the chimney work at the time. We will likely do this work in the spring or summer and we will get quotes from a few companies, including Capitol Chimney.

The process went smooth - they were professional and quick.

It took the company longer to respond than other Angie's List vendors, but when we heard from them and set a date, they sent reminders and showed up when they were supposed to. They were also very accommodating: the company also cleans chimneys -- probably the bulk of its business -- and when they arrived, I had trouble deciding whether I wanted my chimney or my dryer vent cleaned. After changing my mind twice, I went with the dryer. Both my daughter and I can tell a clear difference in how the dryer drys -- it's much faster.

We found them via an Angie's List special deal. We don't use our fireplace all that much, so there wasn't too much work needed, but they were very courteous, professional, punctual, neat and fast. It was easy to schedule and we were able to get an appointment within a day or two of our call.

Excellent. They came when they said they would. The did what they promised and didn't try to up-sell us anything else. I would definitely use them again.

I was pleased with the work they performed, but I'm unable to grade in some areas because I don't know if they performed all the services I paid for. I would have had them back to do further work, but they never returned my calls so I don't want them back. I took their estimate for a repair they suggested and am in the process of finding another company to hire. Update: No, they did not perform all the work I paid for. I had another company come out and finish their work. I would stay away from them. I got ripped off.

The workmen were on time, quick, efficient, and told me my chimney was working properly. I have no complaints.

main reason for chimney service was to confirm no chimney abnormalities/problems, as we were experiencing heavy smell of ash upstairs after chimney had been used earlier in the day. This problem was ongoing and we had not experienced this with previous home fireplace. Chimeny expert indicated smell was prob due to downdraft from the flue, as they did not notice any problems and indicated chimeny was actually very clean (we had it cleaned the previous year). Expert recommended some repair work to outside of chimney and inside brick, but indicated this was not urgent and told us to wait until Spring.

I could not be happier with the service performed by Capitol Chimney. They were very thorough with the cleaning, took their time to examine the inside of the chimney and explain to me the operations and things to look for. As a new owner it is my first time dealing with fireplaces and chimneys. They also installed energy efficient chimney dampers, as recommended by our energy audit. We will be able to get a refund for these after a follow on audit. They also repaired the chimney crown damaged during earthquake. They completely removed it and rebuilt it.

We purchased a $90 Angie's List coupon and made an appointment. The men were punctual. One inspected the chimney from the inside, and the other went up on a ladder to check the exterior. It turned out that there was no cleaning needed, and we can safely enjoy the fireplace. Some work was recommended (re-mortaring on the inside, replacement of the cap), and if we were the property owners we might have considered it, but we're renters. We needed peace of mind, and we got it.

Didn't go. Won't be calling again.

It went very well. They called that morning to check if they could possibly come earlier than originally scheduled. It worked very well since earlier was better for me. They came on time and the person who came in to clean and inspect the chimney was very curteous and respectful of the house. He made sure to take his shoes off, especially because we have a white carpet in the middle of our living room. He took precautions to keep the rest of the house clean and performed the work in about a half hour. He said the fireplace was in good shape, but that it would be good to fix a couple of bricks that were broken in the back. He also mentioned that the big hole inside and to the right of the chimney might cause problems since smoke could get to the basement. He recommended we fix both problems, but said I could go ahead and try the chimney to "test" whether smoke traveled to the basement or not. We did and had no problem.

Arrived on time. Prepped the area to avoid dirt etc. did a quick and professional job of sweeping the chimney while another person did the chimney cap inspection.

Arrived l9-12 and they arrived at 1:15 with no call. But, once here, they went right to work and within 60 minutes cleaned both chimneys, vacuumed and cleaned up. No issues. Provided receipt and report. The only issue I had with this company as others have also reported is that after I purchased the deal from Angies list I left 4 messages with no return calls over 2 weeks. I had to keep calling until finally someone answered and then scheduled.

The chimney and hearth appeared to be clean. The serviceperson showed up exactly on time and was done within half an hour.

Capitol Chimney Service, LLC, set up an appointment for us when we called them. The technician arrived on time, explained what he would be/was doing, and left everything neat and clean. This is a wonderful company.

We received three separate quotes to repair the chimney on our 20 year old home. We needed repair of the top 16 course of brick and a new crown. Capitol Chimney and another company's quotes were near identical, but given Capitol's Angies list rating we went with them. I called the afternoon after we were given the quote to set up an appointment, but was told the person that did the estimate didn't drop off the paperwork yet, and that they would call me the next day. I gave them my cell phone number and told them to use that number as it was the best way to reach me when I was at work. The next day I did not receive a phone call, so I called them; they still did not have the quote papers, but after a short search they were located and we were given an appointment 7 days later. The day before our appointment they called my home and left a message to let me know someone would arrive that day to get a sample brick, they also indicated they might arrive late on my appointment day do to another job they had. I did not get this message until late when a family member told me they called. I called Capitol and was given the information, I reminded the person to call my cell phone not my home, and was told they didn't have my cell number, but after a short search the number was found. On appointment day, I took the day off work to be home. By 1 PM no one showed or called. I called them and it was confirmed the other job delayed them but they should either show up later or the next day. No one ever showed up. The next day they arrived at 1PM. They were very professional, the job took them 4 to 5 hours. They did a very thorough job of cleaning the work site, and told me they would come back to finish the waterproofing the following week, and the company would call me to let me know. The company did not call me to follow up. Because of rain they came 6 days later and finished up the job. We haven't used the fireplace yet, but I'm pleased with the quality of the repair work. I do think they could have communicated better.

Best service/cleaning we have ever had! Would definitely use them again.
