They were quick & efficient. They were neat, didn't leave any kind of mess. It was a pleasant experience.

Technician was very prompt, thorough, and respectful of our home. He was careful to cover all surfaces and happy to explain what he was doing during the cleaning and inspection. Very pleased and would definitely use again!

On first visit, they discovered chimney swifts had made a nest in chimney. They are a protected species, so they were unable to clean it. The scheduler, Linny, called and said as soon as they birds were gone, the service guys would return and gave us an approximate time for the little ones to hatch. When we no longer heard the birds, I called & they came within a few days. Very professional & very quick. Took digital photos to show us the work & recommended we repair the chimney concrete crown as it had a large crack which allows water in.

It went well in the end. The first time it was scheduled, the scheduler had to call the day prior and beg off, as their crew rotation had come up short due to illness or whatever other reason. So it had to be postponed a week. Other than this minor glitch, and it did not really cause a problem, everything went very well. I had to ask the techs to clean up the thousands of tiny dryer lint balls spread all over the condo yard (or face complaints from management as well as neighbors). This they did to my satisfaction, and without any noticeable complaint. Overall, very good to excellent work.

It went fine. It was good. This was the first time I'd used this service provider. They noticed that our chimney needed some extra work up at the top. They gave us a recommendation and said, "Call us if you need us or not." It was nice that they noticed we had some problems that needed to be taken care of. We had them repair the problem. I don't climb up on my roof so I don't know what it actually looks like but I think he took pictures of it beforehand to show me what the problem was and then showed me what was done by taking a picture again. They did what I paid for. That was good. It was short and quick. So it didn't take much time out of my life. So that was good. I'm happy with what I got and what I paid.

What needed to be done was done. It looked like it had been repaired. They did what they came out to do. I don't think I had to be here because it was up on my roof. They did it and then left a bill.

It took several attempts at scheduling, but the work was good.

Our boiler kept going out (tripping the blow back switch). We had some boiler repair folks come out, but they couldn't figure it out. The chimney folks came over did and inspection, recommended a reline. It took one day to install, they cleaned up after themselves, and we never had a problem again.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. There were no extra charges. Nothing stood out about them. They did pretty good.

I thought it went quite well and the gentlemen that came were professional. There had been water leakage from the chimney into the fireplace. In addition to the chimney cap and cleaning, they needed to seal the chimney. They explained it very well and they educated us on it. They did a great job! The only issue we had was that we ended up having rain the following day. They came and redid the seal without a problem and wanted to make sure everything was just right, even though it was not their fault that it had rained.

At the end of June or early July, 2013, I called Capitol Chimney back because there had been a lot of rain and I was smelling dampness and feeling dampness on the fireplace brick in my family room. I spoke with the receptionist at Capitol Chimney and explained what I noticed and asked to have someone come back to the house and check. There is a 10-year warranty on Capitol Chimney’s work. The receptionist made an appointment for Capitol Chimney to come to the house on Saturday, July 6, 2013. A few days before the appointment, the receptionist called me and said they had an emergency and could not keep the appointment for Saturday. The appointment was rescheduled for Monday, July 8, and I took time off from work to meet Capitol Chimney at the house. Early that morning on July 8, I received a phone call from Roger of Capitol Chimney who asked me about the issues I called about. I told Roger that because we had a lot of rain, there was an usual amount of dampness around the brick inside the house and there was a damp smell. I told Roger that I needed him to check his guys’ work just to make sure the repairs were done correctly. Roger told me on the phone that the problem was that I need to have the brick on the outside waterproofed and that would solve the problem. I told Roger that I did not want to get the waterproofing done but wanted him to take a look at the work to see if there were any leaks. Roger told me that he was not coming out to check the work and the only thing I needed was the waterproofing on the brick. Because we could not come to a resolution, I hung up. I asked another chimney company to come look at Capitol Chimney’s work and was told that: (1) there was a crack in the crown that Capitol Chimney replaced, but to keep an eye on it; (2) the parging was not completed and they took pictures and showed me where the bricks with holes in them were not filled in with a material to keep smoke from getting into the house; (3) the cap was not closed tightly on the chimney and they adjusted the bracket for the pulley inside the fireplace (which allowed the water to get inside the fireplace, thus the dampness in the brick). The chimney company that checked the work gave me a proposal to complete the parging. Since then I have had at least 2 roofers who looked at my roof since Capitol Chimney did the repair work and was told the flashing is bad and needs to be replaced; that all they (Capitol Chimney) did was caulk the flashing.

They showed up early did the work in a proffessional manner explained any issues and finished the job.

They did a good job, we wanted to hire them to do something else and we called them twice but they never got back to us. They were going to come back and do an additional job for us, they had to find a part for us. He gave us and estimate was gonna find the part for us, so my husband called him twice because he never got back to us and he never returned our call. They don't return calls so I can't separate it, i consider that to be apart of the service. What they did they did well.

From the first estimate to the final wrap-up, Roger and Capitol Chimney were organized, professional and on point for all aspects related to tearing down and then rebuilding the chimney at an affordable cost while also installing a liner. It's always a great idea to get multiple estimates and Roger's was the best value especially in terms of the work completed for the cost. After using Capitol Chimney, I would definitely call them again as well as recommend them to my neighbors and family. The work was even completed on a Sunday (Father's Day), since Roger knew my deadline.

We bought the chimney cleaning deal and had no issue setting up an appoint with just a couple of days notice. The guy who came was great, gave us some tips and cleaned up after himself well.

The first time they came out, they realized they didn't have the filter for the shop vac so they had to run out to Home Depot to purchase one and return. They were apologetic and I had time to wait so it was no problem. This is my first time having a chimney inspection so I wasn't sure what to expect. One gentleman vacuumed the inside of the chimney while the other was outside inspecting it. I don't know what I was expecting, but it seemed to be cleaned very quickly. The outside person informed me that my crown was damaged and he did take photos for me at my request so I could understand what was wrong. They also showed me that there were ice crystals inside my chimney near the damper proving that there was water infiltration hence the need for water proofing the chimney. I was provided with the estimate to do the remaining work, but I had a lot of questions. I was told they use a water based solvent from chimney saver and to go to chimneysaver.com for further information, which I did. I expressed it would be helpful as a new customer if they produced this kind of information at the time of the estimate and educated the consumer about what was needed and why since this process of educating myself took several exchanges. I was told that the waterproofing was guaranteed for 10 years as was the flex crown which used rubber cement so that it can expand and contract. I cleaned the brick as best as I could prior to them returning and I specifically requested that they clean the brick prior to waterproofing it. I was not under the impression that would have been done without my request. When they came out to do the work they provided me with a receipt that in my opinion only identified the flex crown as being waterproof and having a 10 year warranty because it was only listed in the item line with the flex crown, not the waterproofing. When I contacted them, they did email me a new invoice that specifically identified the waterproofing as also having a 10 year warranty. I was satisfied with this and the promptness with which they sent me the revised invoice. Because I don't have any real background with chimney services, I am honestly not sure if I got a good price or chose the best course of action or not. I really don't have anything to compare it to and since other chimney services have different opinions on materials to use and courses of action, it's hard to know whose opinion to agree with. There were other companies that varied in price and course of action from phone calls (not from them seeing the actual work to be done) but I don't feel qualified to evaluate this company compared to other chimney companies. At the end of the day, I do feel that my chimney is in better shape than it was and that it is safe to use. I just wish I didn't need to be so inquisitive to gather information. I wish they took the time to educate me.

I found this company on Angie's List and was drawn in by their good scores and very reasonably priced services. We used the $90 chimney sweeping deal from Angie's List. We were able to get an appointment on the date and time of our choice. The company called the day before the appointment with a reminder and then called to let us know when they were about 20 minutes from our house. I really appreciated their attentiveness to that detail. The two sweeps arrived when scheduled, were very careful about not making a mess, and did a very professional job. They noted that our chimney had gone too long without being cleaned and noted that the liner should be replaced. They provided a cost-estimate for the work and left a telephone number should we have any follow-up questions. Overall, I was very pleased with the quality, promptness, and professionalism of the service.

Capitol Chimney Service, LLC provided a very good service. I was very pleased. They were on time and did a good job. They did a good job because they did not leave all the mess. We were really satisfies. They told me to do it once every 2 years, if I had to do it, I think I will call him again.

We purchased the big deal coupon for this service. They were fine. They arrived when they said they were going to come, and they performed the service that they said they were going to do. They were polite and they performed as expected. We don’t remember if the amount that we spent was just the big deal amount or more than that. We had a positive experience with them and we have no complaints. As far as we know their price was very competitive.
