Overall - it was fine. They were punctual, gave me 30 minute warning before they arrived. They were clean and my house looked the same before and after the work was completed. They took the time to also go check out the flue from the furnace. They provided picture of a crack in the crown and of my smoke chamber. Only reason I would not use them again was because I got a second opinion just to make sure the work was necessary before spending an additional 1K. The prices that were quoted were very high and the second company that came out was more detailed and took the time to explain various things about our fireplace structure and how to build a solid fire, etc. They were a good company and did what they were supposed to and I have no complaints except for the expensive price tag.

They showed up on time and were very professional. Although they could not complete what I wanted to do it was no fault of theirs - the previous owner did something very odd with the fireplace rendering it basically unusable. They gave me an estimate of how much it would cost to repair. If we were in the position to do so, we would definitely use them.

We had to keep changing the date of the chimney cap installation because of weather and finally I called to ask when it would be done, but was told someone came and did it while we were at work. We had no confirmation prior to this that the work was done and it wasn't immediately obvious that it was done. Months later I received a call that we owed $200 for the service, when previously we were told that the cost of the Angie's List deal would transfer to this service being done. When I explained that to them, I was told that since the chimney cap for our house was much larger than they expected they would need, that accounted for the balance. We were not contacted about this larger chimney cap or the increase in the cost to confirm we still wanted to move ahead with the service. The receptionist agreed to clear the accont because of their lack of proper communication. All ended well and we do have a nice chimney cap, but the communication was the main reason for my low rating.

They arrived on time. Did a very thorough job. They were punctual, neat, polite and timely. I would use them again. I highly recommend them.

(I think my approximate date of non-service is close, but not correct.) It's not so much a matter of what they did, but what they didn't do: instead of listening to us and trying to figure out how to do what we wanted, the representative spent a lot of time on his phone flipping through the Internet (he was very impressed with the technology in his phone) trying to find...something (I forget what). Then he persisted in trying to sell us a fireplace insert that obviously was inferior to what we needed, and at a price we felt was too high.

It went very well. I started with a coupon for the house I just purchased. I figured that there would be a problem when the HVAC company recommended that I have the chimney swept and capped. They saw much more than I expected but that is the way things happen when you buy a fixer-upper. They dealt with it in a day. Great service.

The two gentlemen from Capitol Chimney Service, LLC arrived about 15 minutes late, but called before the appointment time to let me know they were running a few minutes behind schedule. They arrived and immediately went to work. They were done in about 15 minutes. No kidding. Roger, one of the gentlemen, asked me when the last time was I had it swept. I said last year, that I get it done every year because I use it all winter long. (I'm pretty sure he believed me when it only took a few minutes. There was no climbing on the chimney to look down into it or anything else. He could see that the liner was new and that the cap on the top was new.) I asked him to check something else out for me (the chimney flue door, because I couldn't get it to close). He said that yes, there was a problem with the door, it pops back open as soon as it's closed, so we'll be making another appointment for that. The guys were great. Had the place perfectly cleaned up, didn't make the slightest mess (in fact, they left it cleaner than they found it) and were very professional and courteous.

I am really impressed with this company. We called to schedule an appointment and they were very clear about what days were available, and whether we should buy the coupon listed here on Angies List (we did - very simple process). After having them come out the day before Thanksgiving to do a "quick" chimney inspection, the guys told us the bad news. The debris pile up was caused by our chimney literally falling apart inside and they'd need to install steel lining to prevent it from further disintegrating and blocking the vents from the HVAC. Also, whoever lived in our home before did a crap job of venting the chimney and the caps needed to be replaced as well. The guy gave us a clear estimate and breakdown of the costs, and gave us a few minutes to talk it over since it was a lot more than we had planned for. Since we were hosting Thanksgiving the next day and needed heat, we asked if they could fix it asap. Before this project the provider needed to get some materials and to see if anyone would be willing to come out on a holiday. Lo and behold, he called us back that same night and said they'd send someone out the next morning. Two awesome guys came out Thanksgiving morning and worked efficiently to get the whole project done in about 4 hours. They were very professional, respectful, clean and polite. Overall, despite the unpleasant surprise of the work that needed to be done, I would absolutely use this provider again. Highly recommend.

The workman showed up within the scheduled window after calling that he was on his way. All the work that was requested was completed to my satisfaction. The workman was very friendly and cleaned up thoroughly. I used this company for the first time because of a coupon on Angie's List that provided a substantial discount and very good ratings.

Caulked flashing and repaired for water leaks. Tool about one hour. Only complaint is expense | One hour for 455. Seems rather high. Agreed with price before work done. Had no idea it would only take one hour. |.

It worked out just fine. It was very quick and efficient. I was actually out of the country and my wife took care of it. There were no additional charges beyond the big deal amount. They were on time and they were done pretty quickly. I haven't heard any complaints.

The work took 3.5 days. The workmen were outstanding and very polite. They came promptly each day and kept the work area contained. They cleaned the roof area thoroughly and the patio after they finished. The furnace area also was thoroughly cleaned. I am really pleased.

Never received call after purchasing deal. Even after several messages. If is lily got an answer after a week or so.

The 2 guys showed up in the window of time that was promised me and went right to work. Unfortunately I was working outside with another person I hired for a different job so I didn't actually get to see them do the work which is a bit of a bummer. They did not take more than about 30 minutes to do that job so I'm kind of taking it on faith that they did a good job. They did recommend 2 further jobs--repointing the brink in the fireplace and installing a damper (which I'm missing) but did not push the upsell which I appreciate. I bought them on price and $110 seemed fair as I shopped around. I would recommend them and use them again.

They came for a cleaning and fixed the flue. Very professional.

They came, had a look, kind of complain about the fact that they usually charge more for this kind of cleaning. Look at the outside conduct. As it was rusted, they said they will have to come back with a new part but that they will give me a quote first. Never gotten a call back from them. Called twice the company, said that they will call me back but never heard from them since. The cleaning never happened as they needed to change the part first. I do not recommend this company at all !!!

During the process of selling our house, the buyer's home inspector observed loose flashing around the chimney and that the chimney damper was stuck in place. Therefore, he recommended we have a licensed chimney sweep evaluate chimney and make all necessary repairs. We used Angie's List comments to select Capitol Chimney Service, LLC to inspect, evaluate, and make necessary repairs. They were very prompt in coming to our house to inspect and evaluate, and they clearly showed me photographic evidence that our chimney needed major repairs. (We had lived in the house for 12 years and never used the fireplace but the house is 43 years old and the chimney material does deteriorate over time.) On the first visit, Capitol Chimney replaced the damper mechanism and scheduled the major repair work(replaced 14 rows of brick and flashing)for one week later. They arrived slightly ahead of schedule on both visits, and performed the work in a very professional manner. Although the cost was more than I would have liked to have needed to pay, I felt they did a top-notch job and charged me very fairly for the extensive work they did. I am confident the buyer (the new owner) has a chimney system that will function well and hold up well for a long time period (40-plus years).

They came on time, cleaned and inspected my fireplace chimney and were done in an hour. Vry polite, used drop cloths and left no mess.

Other then being about 30 minutes late to the appointment, the company was excellent - very professional. Cleaned up after the job and re-laid the fire in the fireplace (kindling, logs, starter, etc.) The job was certainly priced right and the cost of the caps was the best of about 5 others we checked. I would definitely use them again.

I'll start with the positives. The crew from Capitol Chimney did a high quality job. The price the company charged for the work was fair. However, there were communications problems from the beginning. It took me two calls to reach someone to confirm the job. I left messages but no one returned my calls. Eventually, I spoke to the owner and he gave me a start date of November 4. The office manager called back the next day to say that they were double booked and she moved the start date to Friday, November 8. I asked her how long it would take and she said 2-3 days. She told me the crew would work straight through and finish up on Sunday, if needed. I called the Wednesday before the job was supposed to start, then again on Thursday when they did not return my call. When I finally reached the office manager she reconfirmed the schedule. The crew arrived on Friday and made good progress. Progress was slower on Saturday; and I asked the member of the crew who spoke English if they were coming back on Sunday and he said "yes." I wonder now if he understood my question because Sunday came and the crew did not come. I called the office about the missing crew, but no one returned my call. Monday came and by 10:00 there was still no crew. I called the office again, but no one returned my call. The crew showed up around 11:00. I finally received a call from the owner around 4:00 PM about some other aspects of the job. He seemed surprised that I expected the crew on Sunday, since he said they never work that day. He said they did not return my calls because their office was closed. There were misunderstandings about the scope of the work Capitol Chimney was supposed to do. I won't detail these because they may have been partly my fault. However, I think we could have cleared these issues up had there been better communication during the estimate and the execution of the work.

Got an Angies List special price for a chimney cleaning. They arrived as promised, on time and were gone in 30 minutes. Told me the chimney flue was clean and really didn't need a cleaning. Didn't brush and vacumn out the fire box. Easy money for them. Not a bad experience, I just felt they were in a hurry yo go on to the next appointment.
