Capitol Chimney Service, LLC were totally unresponsive to follow-up call for them to perform pre-paid Angie's List services. Calls & e-mails were not returned and no service were completed.

They did just fine. They did the chimney sweeping for me.

Everything turned out well. The crew showed on time, got right to work, and acted professionally while at the house. Furthermore, they did an excellent job, and I haven't had any issues with their repairs.

It was very good. We were very satisfied.

That turned out alright. There was some troubles with scheduling, but they were good with scheduling once I finally called them up. They were efficient and they did what was going to be the best course of action.

They did exactly what they said they were going to do. They went over the inspection with me. The service worked out well.

It was a teensy bit slow on having them contact me to set this up but once we connected, they arrived promptly, cleaned and inspected the fireplace from inside the home. They put down drop cloths and cleaned up everything when they were done inside, fixing (adjusting?) the damper as well. Then, they went up on the ladder to inspect and photograph the chimney from outside. Again, minimal disruption to plantings around the exterior of the fireplace and total clean up. They were friendly and professional throughout. I'm waiting now to get a call from them to schedule needed chimney repairs -- both the ones I could see from the ground and the ones I could not see near the chimney cap (they provided photos).

This is the second time we used this company. They did great work, complete with cleanup! The job was started one day and completed a few days later (due to rain). The office was easily accessible and available to reschedule the finishing of the work without issue. They offer great pricing and the military discount was a plus!

They came and did the inspection & cleaning. They were in and out in about 5 minutes. I feel like it wasn't really worth the money because they were in and out so quick. The main reason I needed the deal was to have documentation that an inspection had been done for my HOA. I was expecting a full inspection inside and out, top to bottom. However they really just inspected the fireplace and it wasn't what I expected. It was basically a $110 vacuum job. All in all, I am satisfied because I have the documentation for my HOA.

Appointment #1--First appointment was set for a weekday morning since they did not have evening appointments I took the 9-12 window and arranged to take work off in the morning. After waiting around all morning at noon I received a phone call that he was running late and would be between 1-2. Now I understand that things happen, but I could not wait around, I had to go to work. So I called to reschedule. Appointment #2--I asked if I could have an appointment after 2:00, if they could put us last on the rounds for the day because my husband could leave work early and be home by then. I was told they could accommodate. Well 10:00 in the morning on the day of the appointment I get a call that the service man is at the h front door and no one is answering...huh? Appointment #3-- I am getting a little put out at this point but Capital Chimmney was very accommodating and gave us a weekend appointment which they do not normally do. I can't remember now if it was a Saturday or Sunday appointment but after waiting around all morning it became apparent we had been stood up. The service tech just did not show, no call, nothing. That Monday I get a call from the owner and he is going to come out himself and do the work. At this point I am irritated but he was very apologetic so I figure he's trying to make it right. Appointment #4 -- the owner of Capital Chimney comes out to do the work (I am not home but my husband is) and inspects the chimney only to inform us the chimney is fine and it is not the cause of the water seeping in. Wow! all this trouble and no resolution. Fast forward to today, our house just sold and the corrosion in the fire place was an item on the inspection report. So the contractor I hired to come investigate the cause looked around and right away identified how water was getting in through the chimney vent. To prove it he got up on a ladder with a hose and yes sure enough puddles appeared just like in a rain storm. He just left and I decided it was time to sit down and write my review, since I chose Capital Chimney based on the stellar reviews I had read I felt it was important for me to share my story. The "Big Deal" I purchased from Angies List was no deal at all, on the contrary it was a complete waste of time and money.

I received an estimate and took them up on a discount if I paid in cash. The estimate was on par with others I'd received. The work went smoothly and the workers were professional and friendly. No problems and the assurance they would return if a problem arose.

The work was efficient and thorough. There was a two man crew, which I was glad to see for safety, they arrived on time and they were both pleasant and hard working. I thought the Angie's List "Big Deal" was quite a good value and they really delivered.

They ended up doing more than just a cleaning. They were fast, efficient and professional. They knew exactly what they were going.

Arrived promptly as agreed, called us to confirm 24 hours prior. They were in and out in 45 minutes, including going on the roof to inspect the chimney. They pointed out what needed fixing, including recommending purchasing a fireback. He also recommended purchasing the fireback direct to save money. Very honest and efficient. Highly recommended.

Two man team arrived on time. Polite, dressed in work uniform, and clean. They took off my shoes before entering my home. They cleaned and inspected both the interior and exterior of the chimney. They showed me repairs required. Initially, they proposed the Cadillac solution of repointing all brick from the roofline up and removing and replacing chimney cap for a$1000. We settled on fixing only the damaged areas and resealing existing cap for $300 (after coupon).

The technician tried to sell me repairs on the firebox, and really pushed for related repair work to be done in the basement. This repair involved the duct work from the boiler, which connects to the fireplace venting in some way. I told the technician that I would have my regular heating/AC company come to assess the needed repairs, as they originally installed the boiler 9 years ago. The tech kept pushing, offering a discount if I let him do the work right away. When he saw that I wasn't going to give in, he said to me, "Don't tell the other company what I said about the repairs." He said this because while the duct work did need replacing, at the cost of under $300, the most expensive part that the Capitol Chimney tech insisted needed replacing did not. The estimate that Capitol Chimney gave me for all this work was $2,300! I will never deal with this company again. They tried to rip me off big time, and I have only a small income from Social Security. Unconscionable! I have not rated the quality of the chimney cleaning because I have another company coming out to see if that was indeed done properly. I don't trust it at all. If I find out that the cleaning was not done properly, I will be contacting both Angie's List and Capitol Chimney.

The crew did a great job. They took before and after pictures and we were satisfied with their performance. Would hire again.

I used the coupon for a free chimney inspection with a $129 cleaning. They were very nice and professional, and gave us advice and an estimate regarding gas and wood inserts. I will use them again.

Overall this was a great contractor and I would hire them again. We bought the Angie's List Big Deal and the contractor contacted us right away. We had to put off service for a few months, so I then scheduled when we were available. The office staff was very friendly and great to work with. I was at home on the scheduled day, and the chimney sweep called when he was about a half hour away. Then some mix up occurred such that when he arrived, I must have been outside for about 5 minutes with the dog. He said he tried the doorbell and called on the phone (which I did not hear), and then he left since he could not contact me. When I came inside, I was waiting for him for awhile, not realizing he had already come and gone. What a ridiculous situation! I wish he would have tried again, since there are many reasons a person could be tied up for 5 minutes. He said he waited 10 minutes, but he must have been sitting out front waiting for a car to come home or something like that. So I called the main office, and they told me the chimney sweep would call me. He called right back and said he could come back later that day. WOW. GREAT! When the chimney sweep arrived a few hours later, the service took literally less than 10 minutes. We have a newer house that has the compact fireplace insert with the large metal pipe for the chimney. It's only about as wide as one of their round brushes. There were 2 men. They ran the brush up once and down once, vacuumed, and left. I took off a star for quality, because the man never checked the chimney after he was done (or at least I didn't see him do it), and I saw a few spots that looked like the brush had missed some creosote.

It went great! It was fast, and no time was wasted!
