Capitol Chimney Service LLC

A young guy climbed the roof to take a look at the chimney. He was nice and courteous but not very careful. I have a slate roof and I saw him stepping on the slates! There were other ways to access the chimney. He should have known better. He told me that there are cracks inside the fireplace and that the damper (that looked perfectly fine to me) should be replaced. I asked him to show me where the cracks were but he said that it is very hard to see them. I am not sure how he managed to see them. If it were so hard to see them he should have made a picture or something.

It went well after the second company representative returned to further explain to me the nuances of the design of my chimney and a cost effective resolution

On time arrival.... Went right to work, finished with 30 minutes.

It went very well, they were very professional and on time. They also kept in contact with me regarding the progress of their work. They were very clean as well.

It was pretty good. They sent 2 people out to do the job. They got the job done in about one hour. The workers were both nice and personable.

It went fine. They were clean and thorough and I felt comfortable with them. They had availability on a Saturday, which was nice. I didn't give an A rating because they could only give me a 4-hour window of when they would be getting here, and that seems a little excessive. Also, I was told that they would call when they were an hour out so I didn't have to sit at home for all of those 4 hours. They called, but when they were about 15 minutes away. They did say that I need my smoke chamber purged. I've been calling around for estimates, and their estimate seems to be right in the normal range.

Both inspection and the workers were on time and worked with me in the amount I needed done and when. Wasn't pressed or fed something that I didn't want or need. They were clean and efficient for the work that needed to be done which ranged from masonry, liners, dampers and capping a non working section. All was done and cleaned that day and I was quite happy. .

We are on a tight deadline to refurbish a house that we have been renting and they understood that we needed to have the work done immediately and to know that the fireplace was safe. From the time we purchased their special to the time they did the work was only a matter of days and we were able to let them know the best time for us. No problems, there as no mess and it as easy easy.

That turned out fine. They came in and it was a super quick service, about 30 minutes. They did a good job and I was pleased. I was not there when they did the service, my father in law was and I think he said 2 employees came out. They checked on the outside, did the vacuuming on the the inside and even took some pictures. ***UPDATE 11/11/2014*** I recently went up on the roof to perform some shingle repair after some heavy winds and discovered that there was a large gap in the masonry at the chimney that was clearly not new. In addition, the flashing between the chimney and roof had separated such that there were a number of gaps through which rain would be funneled between the house and chimney. This also was clearly not a recent development. My understanding of the "Big Deal" that I had purchased was that it was to include a masonry inspection to identify just such issues. There is no way that even a cursory masonry inspection would have missed such glaring issues. I was previously surprised with the speed at which the chimney sweep and inspection were performed, but now I know why they were able to do it so quickly - there was a clear sacrifice in quality. I'm bumping my review down to "C" under quality for this reason.

The top part of the chimney on my 1950's rambler needed to be rebuilt, the grout was crumbling and missing in many spots. I got a few estimates, and went with Capitol Chimney because they were straightforward, professional, had a reasonable estimate, and good reviews. They were punctual and professional. The masonry and groutwork are done well. The new brick almost matches. They cleaned up well and came back after the work was done and did the waterproofing. The only thing I'm not thrilled about is the flashing, it is pretty ugly. However, I'm about to have my entire roof replaced and it will get re-done anyway. I would recommend them for masonry work, just ask about flashing options beforehand.

they called and said they could come early which was great. they took pictures to show me what was done and what else needed to be done (pics b/c it was on roof so couldn't show me). the added caps so there was no risk of animals entering.

The Chimney Service representative arrived on time, worked efficiently in performing the work that was needed to inspect and clean the chimney and fireplace and to install the screen, and performed a thorough cleanup. The representative also identified a problem with the water heater flue, which is attached to the chimney, and strongly recommended that we should have it fixed. We were unaware of this and very much appreciated the information and the recommendation.

I bought a deal through Angie's List for this company to clean my furnace flue/ chimney. Found out afterwards that they do not service my area. Tried to get a refund and was told Angie's List had to issue the refund. Contacted Angie's List and have yet to recieve a refund. I suppose this is more of a negative review on AL not the provider.

We were contacted within 2 days of placing order and scheduled appointment. Capitol Chimney called 30 minutes ahead of the scheduled appointment and stated they were on the way. Arrived on time. Two people. Very courteous and professional. Laid out a canvas in front of fireplace and went immediately to work cleaning. Did inspection and provided picture of chimney top. Did a good job of explaining the work and inspection. They were not pushy trying to sell extra services. I would definitely recommend their services.

The provider came and did exactly as expected - they showed up on time, were professional, courteous, charged the price that was advertised. I was very pleased with the service and would hire them again.

Some minor difficulties getting the service scheduled. I thought they would contact me after I bought the deal. Once I contacted them, they were great.

They showed up on time with a 20 minute courtesy call before arriving. They installed the damper, and cleaned the chimney. After the chimney inspection they provided a modest quote for additional services but gave us an honest account of how long we could wait to do the work. They were decent gentlemen and I would definitely recommend them.

Cleaning crew was prompt, efficient, sensitive to dirt and dust, and pleasant to work with. We settled on work to be done to correct leakage problem. The office was to call us to schedule a time for the work to be done. We had to call them to get scheduled. There seemed to be a process disconnect between the cleaning crew and the office. Work was performed as agreed and we have had no leaks since. Overall we are very pleased with the work.

They called before coming, they showed up on time and did what they were supposed to do.

I think they reached out to me via email informing me that I am out of their area. They informed me fairly quickly and they were direct about what they could and could not do. They didn't perform any service.

We knew there was a problem when we woke up the morning after a big storm and there was water on the floor in front of the fireplace. The fireplace was drenched inside and the walls were wet. Capital Chimney came out promptly and cleaned the chimney. They went up on our roof and photographed our chimney from all sides. It was clear the chimney cap was cracked and there were problems with some of the mortar. Capital Chimney repaired our chimney and we have had no problems since. They cleaned up after themselves so well that there was no sign they had even been there except for the excellent repair work. We were very pleased and would call Capital Chimney again.
