Joe was the individual who provided the service. He was professional and spent time answering all my questions about my rather old hvac system. He did not once try to sell me the installation of new products. I think this says a great deal about the integrity and professionalism of BMC/Clower. He even cleaned the fan (which had not been done for twenty years) and the system coil. I will certainly continue to do business with BMC/Clower. I give this company highest marks and recommend without reservation.

First of all, let me say that in my background as a newspaper and magazine journalist, I have written countless hard-hitting consumer stories and therefore go to great lengths to ensure that any home improvement work done to our Chevy Chase house is the best available. We love our home and want all to go well. After deciding that we wished to replace our antique HVAC system, which was operating on borrowed time and making strange middle-of-the-night thumping and gurgling noises, we obtained three bids from contractors, all of whom were well rated on Angie's List. Clower was the third one we interviewed and was hands down the most professionally impressive. The Clower bid was presented by the company owner, John, who obviously has a strong grasp of the technical end of the business and is also very professional in manner. We requested the absolutely most highly energy efficient system and were willing to pay Clower for this cutting edge technology from Carrier, though the other two companies were charging no less for a similar system and Clower's prices are very fair. The installers sent to do our job (a two day project), Matt & Kenny, could not have been more diligent and careful in their execution. After the second day when the new system was turned on, it purred like a happy kitten and supplied us with much needed quiet, filtered and deliciously cool air flow beginning on that hot July day. (Ask about the "Inverter" system from Carrier if you're interested in details.) Moreover, we will receive in excess of $2,000 in rebates from Carrier/Pepco because we went with this fabulous high-end system. One of the secrets to the smooth functioning of the wonderful Clower business--as the owner will attest--is the extraordinary young woman who runs its office--Sarah Hinsley. She not only graciously scheduled the installation (and rescheduled it when we had to change), but also personally handled all the paperwork for our rebates. Kudos to Sarah, John, Matt, Kenny and the whole crew at Clower!! We love this company!!

John Clower came and did the initial estimate. Clower's price was significantly lower than another well known HVAC company. The work was scheduled for a few days later. The technicians arrived on time and did an excellent job installing the new HVAC system. I would highly recommend them.

We needed a new heat pump, dreaded paying for one, but bucked up because we didn?t want to have it die in the middle of the summer heat or cold of winter. So we looked for highly-rated companies located within 5 miles of our house. The company that had been servicing our unit proposed a solution at a cost of about $6,800. A second company had a similar bid, both companies suggesting a 15-seer Carrier brand. A third company?s bid was for Lennox, at a price of only about $5,600. Hmm. BMC Clower offered two choices: a 15-seer carrier at a cost of about $6,000, or a higher efficiency Carrier Infinity series at $8,400 ? minus a $500 Pepco rebate and minus a $900 Carrier rebate for a net price of about $7,000. Clower was the only company that provided the higher efficiency option. Mr. Clower, owner of the company came to our house, looked at our current installation, and carefully explained how he would do the installation, regardless of which unit we chose. He was very patient with my questions. Apparently, most people just want to know if air will come out of the vents (not me). So when we compared the bids, it was confusing. There were different air handlers for each Carrier bid for the 15-seer units. So we called Clower back. I finally just leveled with Sarah, Clower?s office/operations manager: I explained what bids I had, wanting to know if I was comparing apples to apples, or apples to oranges. And I quickly learned that she knows her stuff. Here?s the scoop: some of the older model air handlers have features like, say, humidity control, but to use those features, a technician has to do manual setting inside the unit, or wires have to be run up through the walls to the thermostat. So the $6,800 bids had those air handlers. If you don?t like the details, folks, take a closer look, because you are going to be living with your heat pump for a good 15 years (if you don?t plan to move). The 15-seer unit Clower proposed had a different air handler that was less expensive, because home owners will get little benefit out of the more expensive ones. Also, read carefully: be sure the bid includes removal of the old refrigerant lines: failure to do that could cause problems down the road. Be at home when the unit is installed, ask questions, and watch carefully! When Clower realized the nature of the competition, their prices changed a bit. We ended up choosing the more expensive unit. We absolutely love it! It?s very quiet, and our home is more comfortable. With that unit, Clower included a much better air filter that is 4 inches thick and needs to be changed only every 6 to 9 months. The purchase also includes annual maintenance plan for the first year or two. Be aware that if you get the unit we bought, you have a touch-screen thermostat that tells you when you need to change the filter, and it has diagnostics that will tell you what is wrong if something breaks. We have things set up for different temperatures at different times on the day, and on weekdays versus weekends. We could have spent another $400 for a WIFI thermostat that would notify Clower if something breaks (you can also control it from your mobile phone, but we don?t really need that), but decided against it. We were also having our vents cleaned out (which we highly recommend) by another company. Clower agreed to removed the old unit one day, then install the new unit a few days later. The installers did an excellent job. We were impressed with the sheet metal work done for installing the air handler. During the installation, contractors working on the house next door hit the Clower company?s truck, and started behaving very badly when confronted. Clower?s workers kept their cool, behaved very professionally, and just called the police. We are definitely looking forward to working with Clower in the coming years. We love our new heat pump!

BMC came to our condo (2nd Floor) on time. Hoisted the heat pump onto the balcony (could not get it through the balcony door). Installed the heat pump and air handler in a professional manner. Did not damage anything in the process. Cleaned up after they finished. Instructed us on our new unit. We will obtain a yearly service contract from them. This is one great professional company. Would recommend them to anyone who needs a new HVAC. They deserve the A rating they have on Angie's List.

I will hire them again. However, I would use another company to replace the A/C due to the price.

They worked through the snow storm and did not mess up the home. They really went above and beyond their call of duty in their responsiveness and professionalism. The price was fair and the workmanship was first rate. The only reason I have not used their services since is I have not needed to.

They informed me that they were unsure if they could get someone out the day I called but would call back to schedule for the following morning. They never sent anyone nor did they bother to call me back. I'm not going to waste my time begging anyone to give them my money. I ended up going with another company that I will be writing a favorable review for.

Excellent service and work from start to finish. I'm not a rave reviewer type when it comes to contractors in general given my share of the usual tough experiences, but these folks delivered as promised and as expected. They came to the house, reviewed the old system, offered me options without pressuring me with tales of impending catastrophe, and then on the day we agreed on they came and in two days got rid of the old tank and replaced it with a new system. I'm not a heating expert, but I can tell that they did good work just by looking at how everything fits together. Our radiator system has improved substantially. We no longer have a cold 1st floor and a boiling 2nd floor. Now the two floors are almost the same temperature. When they left, they installed a simple thermostat, and I asked them to install the original programmable one. They came the next day and did it no charge. Super.

John was great in providing the estimate. The two gentleman (I can't remember their names) were awesome. There were challenges with the air handlers and they were fantastic in their handling of the issue. They also serviced my other heat pump (two zone house) and the person who did that explained about the different filters and explained that Carrier doesn't have standard sizes.

They originally thought we were going to have to replace the whole unit but after additional troubleshooting he was able to replace just the coil. I felt that he was sincere and not out to rip us off. I would definitely use them in the future.

Very professional to work with from beginning to end. Installed a multi-zone system in a 4 level town home that has been working great for 3 years now. Initial price was decent but over time it has been great value given the fact that we have not had any head aches with the system.

I needed A/C repair on a Friday in July. The person I spoke with on the phone was helpful (and followed up when I asked them to let me know when the technician was on the way) and a service technician, Joe York, was at my house solving the problem within an hour of my call. He immediately diagnosed the problem and had it fixed in no time. I can't speak to the price because I have no point of comparison, but it seemed fair. I would not hesitate a moment to call them again. p.s. I found this company on Angie's list the first day I joined (suggested by an Angie's list employee I spoke with by phone), and it was worth the price of admission (and why I'm taking the time to provide feedback -- I hope my future experiences with the list will be as positive).

Excellent. A previous HVAC contractor had already diagnosed the problem but the solution was a complete change out of the HVAC unit due to lack of product support. BMC did the research and found the part and saved me substantial money, and head ache. I also very much appreciated the fact that they came out to confirm the original diagnosis without charge.

Excellent service from start to finish. I called early this morning as a new customer and explained how water had leaked the night before through 3 levels of the house and now we had no air conditioning. The office told me they would call back in 30 minutes to tell me when they could get us in and called back in 10. I was told someone would be over by 10am TODAY and he showed up at 9. Nick who came out was friendly and explained everything he would do. He fixed the problem in under 90 minutes, fixed the system so that it shouldn't happen again (the original installer did not hook up the fail safes properly that caused the water overflow), cleaned everything up and wrote in detail on the receipt all that he did. I love these guys. I had never used them before but if I need someone again they are my first call.

They were very reasonably priced. I would use them again.

Everything with them worked out. They responded quickly. It was an after hours call on a Friday night. They got there within two hours of calling them and fortunately they spared me from any lasting damage.
