All done professionally and promptly.
Description of Work: I found water on the floor of my bathroom, and the plumber found that it was from a crack in the toilet tank which had been replaced just about a year ago. It was under warranty and he replaced the tank quickly and promptly - he had a replacement on the truck. I also had developed a loose faucet on my kitchen sink, which he was able to fix immediately, but for which I paid.

I've been using them for years. They are really helpful. They were beginning to stretch out in terms of other services they offer related to bathroom stuff. They're fine, everything went well. They did a great job all around. The plumbers I worked with them for many years. I don't have them on speed dial, but they're in my phone.
Description of Work: I actually have a contract with them. They put bars in my bathroom. They put in a comfort level toilet.

I called Benjamin Franklin Plumbing because my new toilet that I had installed in my home less than 6 months ago was running more than the usual amount of water after each flush. The company was promoting a deal--a new toilet installation and comprehensive plumbing inspection for $99. As I only needed a diagnosis of an existing toilet, the company made me a deal. They waived the service fee and agreed to only charge me for any repair, if one was needed. They also said I did not have to agree to the repair if I did not want it--in which case I would not be charged at all. The offer was too good to pass up, so I took it. Today, a Benjamin Franklin plumber came to my home. He called in the morning asking if I could move my appointment to 10 am, but then showed up at 12:30 pm. He looked at the new toilet, made a very MINOR adjustment to a handle and that was it. It took him 2 minutes; the toilet it turns out was not broken but only needed a slight adjustment. Nevertheless, the plumber told me that I would be charged a service call and plus what he described as a "repair"--all to the tune of over $200. When I explained that I was told the service fee would be waived, he called the office and after a long discussion said that he would charge me the $99 Angie's List coupon for the work. $99 was still too much for the type of adjustment that was done to my toilet, especially considering that the service fee that the company charges is only $69. When i attempted to call this company to rectify the situation, I got the runaround. So much for a great deal. Given my experience, I will never use this company again. It is the biggest rip off I have encountered in a while. I hope future customers do their research to avoid rip offs like this one.
Description of Work: Practically nothing. He made an adjustment to a plastic handle inside of a new toilet tank which took him approximately 2 minutes.

I called them on December 31, 2015 around 2:30pm because of a problem I was having with my kitchen sink/garbage disposal. They told me they could put me on the schedule for January 1, 2016 and that it would be an open ended time. On January 1, 2016 I had not heard from anyone all day and called them at 3:54pm. I was told that there were a couple of other service calls in front of me but that the technician Chad wold be calling me before he comes. At 7:30pm I still had not heard from anyone. I called again and spoke to Dwight. He assured me that someone would come today. After some back and forth he finally looked at my ticket and realized that there might be an issue. He called the technician Chad and came back to me and said that it seems as though the Chad never got my repair order. He then told me that Chad could be at my home in an hour or two and that he estimated it would take about two hours for the repair to be done. Unfortunately this would not work for me. It was never explained to me that when I was given an open ended time appointment that it meant someone could be coming to my home between 12:01am and 11:59pm. I personally find this unacceptable. Additionally they have a slogan of "if there is any delay it is you we pay." They did not offer me any compensation for the fact that there were delayed as they made a mistake.

Larry called on the day of service to say he would be @ our house in approximately 40 minutes. He arrived on time, was very friendly & professional. He assessed the problem we were having with the spigot & it ended up not being a problem at all, just the water to that spigot had been turned off without my knowledge! Larry told me that it appeared to be fine & working well. I decided to go ahead with the replacement since I had already paid for it through the Angie's List promotion, the spigot was 18 years old, and the caulking around it had come loose. After completing the front yard spigot replacement, Larry walked through the house to assess the plumbing throughout. Gave good helpful information without trying to push things we didn't need. He even showed us how we could flush our water heater ourselves after recommending that it be done on a regular basis. Larry was so thorough and came across very trustworthy, that my husband and I are considering the companies Plumbing maintenance plan particularly since Larry would be our plumber since he lives close to us. As you can tell we were impressed.

Quoted me one price and then gave me another when it came time for the bill. it was very unclear. I contacted the plumbing company, and they have agreed to refund part of the costs that I did not agree upon. Also, they wanted to charge me another $400 to snake my sink all the way to the pipes in the wall. Very expensive. Was extremely disappointed with this plumber and felt i was taken advantage of by not having clearly agreed upon pricing and charging prices way above market. I've had other plumbers and never had prices as high as this. $450 to spend 1 hour 15 min changing one valve and checking for leaks and sealing the trap?! I will never use this group again. Very disappointed that it got such high ratings on Angie's List.

After spending 5 thousand dollars on getting our house re-piped we thought that the firm would come back and fix a leaky that was created in the course of the work they did. Instead they said it would cost another 4 to 7 hundred dollars to fix that leak. However, they were nice enough to wave the visit charge when they came back to check out the leak. While the re-pipe work that was done. You sort of want all the plumbing in your house to work after spending 5K. Instead I'm left with a new plumbing problem that I have to fix.

Our hot water heater blew, and went all over the floor and the basement, and it cost 3000 worth of damage. We had to get someone to come and close it, because it was leaking all over the place. They damaged the wall, bringing the hot water heater in the house, they hit the trim, and I didn't see it until after they left. I called them, and they called me back, but we haven't settled it yet. The response was very slow. I thought the price was high.

We bought an old Victorian house this year. It's lovely, but it needs a lot(!) of repair. Our first clue that we needed to replace the sewer line was a large bucket of copper sulfate in the kitchen with a note attached. The note said that the previous owner and quot;flushed a cup of copper sulfate down the drain every month. No more rotor rooter!and quot; yikes We researched sewer replacements and decided that trenchless was the way to go. I'd had a sewer line replaced in my previous house and knew how extensive the damage could be from the and quot;normaland quot; backhoe method, and we wanted to avoid that if at all possible. We called Benjamin Franklin (one of the few companies in the area that does trenchless replacements) just before Memorial Day weekend. Jose came out on Memorial Day to give us an estimate. He was prompt, professional, and knowledgeable, and his price was acceptable so we hired him on the spot. That turned out to be a great decision! Before the work was performed, we learned that we needed to have some pipes relocated in our basement in order to accomodate a planned geothermal installation. When Doug, the owner of the company, came out with Jose to run the camera though the line and to mark it a few days in advance of the sewer replacement, we asked him to give us an estimate for the additional work. The cost again was reasonable, and Benjamin Franklin was able to do all of the work at the same time. The crew that they sent (including both Doug and Jose) was competent, professional, and efficient. We were impressed that they showed up on the appointed day, because there was a huge storm predicted (a derecho). But they did -- and although there was some rain, they were able to get the work done by late afternoon. We can't say enough good things about this company. They not only did an excellent job, they mopped the work area when they were done. How nice was that? Pretty darn nice. An A++ experience all the way around.

We called BF Plumbing to have some small plumbing jobs done (replace a toilet, fix a bathtub leak, repair another toilet). The telephone representative offered the first clue that something was wrong -- he offered a $99 service to and quot;guaranteeand quot; my appointment time. In other words, for a hundred bucks they'd promise to actually show up at the agreed time. I declined. He then reminded me that there was a $79 visit charge -- even if I declined the work and the estimate, I'd have to pay $79 for the guy to come out to the house to check the problem. If I went ahead and got the work done, the $79 would be and quot;deductedand quot; from my bill. Yup, it's a scam. Pure and simple. The plumber showed up at the house on time. He was like a used car salesman, we could tell immediately he was going to pump up the bill. He gave us a and quot;take it or leave it estimateand quot; of a jaw-dropping $3,200 for the repairs. We declined, of course, and paid him the $79 visit fee. He disappeared, and interestingly enough, the firm never called us back to follow up -- never inquired if we wanted the service, or why not, or how was our experience. That alone was enough to tell us that they simply charge $79 for these visits, never really wanting to get hired for actual work. This guy probably runs around town doing ten of these and quot;estimatesand quot; per day and just pocketing the $79 fees, without lifting a finger to repair anything. Anyway, we called another firm, and quot;Len the Plumberand quot;. Guy couldn't have been nicer, did the exact same work, on time and with a smile, for $700. Benjamin Franklin Plumbing is a scam.
Description of Work: We called this firm to get some small plumbing jobs done. The estimate was so crazy high that we soon realized it's a scam. We refused to have the actual work done, so I can't attest to the quality of service.
