First of all, I'm pretty handy with things around the house but this plumbing issue is my limit. Mr Ron Janeski has 30 years of experience in plumbing. He contacted me prior to anybody else that was tagged through the contracting system. We set up the appointment to fit my schedule (two days later) which was prior to a five days trip. The leaking toilet which I attempted to repair myself for weeks, was obviously a nuisance but also a worry that my hardwood floor will be affected while away for jury duty. All I wanted was at least to learn how to turn off the main water valve which I could not turn (apparently it was stuck). As scheduled, Mr Ron arrived in time and after explaining him the symptoms for my emergency, he started to assess the cause of it. He figured out very quickly what was the issue; thereafter, I also told him about the other plumbing issues in the house which were not an emergency. He was fair in telling me that the dishwasher was leaking from the water supply pipe but it was not his specialty. Back to the plumbing issues that he could repair, he replaced all the parts that I wanted to upgrade anyway (from the old floater to the new one) as well as other small accessories. The rate for service was the lowest of all to which were added costs of materials plus few items that I needed for electrical work; he bought everything on my list during that day and returned from the store installing them and leaving them functional to my complete satisfaction. No additional charge for the time spent away. Back from jury duty a week later, no leak in the house. Hurray! Now I'm planning for Mr Ron to return and change my lousy (inherited) linoleum from both bathrooms (suite and small other full bath); as soon as my personal issues are back on track in the next couple of months, I surely hope to make the upgrades without breaking my bank. I wish he would also change the carpet to hardwood floor upstairs and in the basement but unfortunately, he does not. Not lastly, Mr Ron is hands down the best choice since I moved in this area almost two years ago. He's certainly a keeper and I'm glad that I tagged him for plumbing services. I already referred him to my real estate agent who could have used someone of his caliber.
Description of Work: Leaking toilet and additional plumbing non-emergencies
Ron Janeski installed the moldings around the windows(6).He then proceeded to do the door trim. When I saw the trim on the doors,I did not like how they were done.Ron refused to change them.I called into work to tell them I would be late to talk to Ron about it,but Ron did not show up at his usual time(9:30).When I called him he told me he had to be somewhere else that day and had told me the night before.not true.So I missed a half days work and nothing happened at my house.Met with Ron the next day.worked everything out.gave Ron the 2nd installment check. When I got home the next night,I noticed the baseboards were an inch too tall and would never meet up with the orig baseboards by hallway steps because of the diff height.I pointed this out to Ron the next day and he said he couldn't please me and turned around and left.I called him several times but he did not answer the phone till later that day after 3 or 4 attempts.Asked him to come n the morning so we could come to a solution and get this job finished. When he arrive,he was not willing to change anything about the baseboards even though they were clearly too tall.He would not budge on anything.Said he would never be able to please? me.I begged him to please finish the job.Ron refused and then had the audacity to ask for his final check!I now have a half finished job and am out $1600.Would never use this 'contractor' again.

The agreement was to install trim around the windows, doors and install baseboard on the 1st floor. The custom trim was to be built exactly like the existing trim on the 2nd floor. There was no trim at all on the 1st floor when I started. I spent the first 2 days gathering materials and working in between rain storms being my equipment needed to be set up outside. By the 3rd day I had trimmed most of the doors. The 4th day when I arrived the customer seemed agitated because although I replicated the trim from the 2nd floor, the ceiling was low over 1 door. The existing door in another room was shorter than the others, the ceiling over another door is low and the wall is not plumb. I explained to her that I built the trim exactly the way she asked me to. I took the time to explain to her that these issues have nothing to do with the trim that I built. Finally she understood and asked me to move to trimming the windows. On the 5th day I recieved a phone call in the morning from the customer wondering what time I would be there, I told her around noon. She then sent me a text message asking me not to do any more work until we talk and asked me to meet her at 5:30. We met, again she seemed agitated with the way I built a window sill. We came to an agreement about that. On the 6th day I trimmed all the windows. On the 7th day I built and installed the baseboard for more than half the project using the exact measurements as the upstairs trim and using the base shoe and base cap that she chose. I showed up on the 8th day and she was agitated again saying the baseboard is too tall and wanted me to tear it all out and re-do it. I explained that I built it exactly the way she instructed me and that I was not going to replace it for free. She stood staring at the floor for about 10 minutes insisting I tear it out. I left hoping she would realize that I built it the way she asked me to. I soon recieved a phone call from her but did not answer it because I was driving. She did not leave a voice mail. A few minutes later I recieved a text message stating "could you meet me at my house tomorrow morning? If you really want to quit, we will settle up then. I hope not. I would rather find a solution. Please let me know". On the 9th day I arrived and there were roofers and siding people working on the house occuping the area where I set up my equipment each day. I explained to her and her husband that I have a family to provide for, she has asked me not to work 2 different days and now I can't work today because of the workers on the outside of the house. I needed to go to another job where I could work. They insisted that I stay and finish the project. They said that my work was beautiful, everybody they showed was impressed and that I was a perfectionist. They admitted that they made a mistake and forgot that they raised the floor 1 inch and that is why the baseboard seemed high. They said that everything looks fine. I proceeded to gather my tools and equipment. I asked to settle up for the $280.00 of materials that I gave reciepts for 2 days earlier. They said they were not going to reimburse me for the materals. I then gathered some of the trim that I had purchased ($38.06) and proceeded to my truck. I then heard something hit the ground behind me. It was one of my tool boxes. They had thrown it out the door at my back from about 30 feet away almost hitting me. I left the job about 85% finished. They had paid me for 66% or $1600.00. Our agreement was labor plus the cost of materials. So the trim that they are accusing me of stealing is actually mine. As for the pictures of the receptacle and the light switch, she never told me she had an electrian coming to move them until after I built this trim around them. I agreed to leave a full piece of trim that would be installed after they were moved.
Ron was awesome! I would say by far the best handyman we have ever hired. We had Ron come out to give an estimate as well as two other contractors. Ron called the same day with an estimate after he went to home depot to get prices for materials. Another contractor never called and the other took over a week to come back with an estimate which was much higher. Ron was extremely attentive to everything we wanted done and was honest. about what should be done. We asked his opinion on several things and he never tried to add things just to get more money. I could tell the moment Ron called later that day that he was a go-getter and wanted the work so we hired him. Ron came with a helper and they both worked very hard and were more than accommodating to our busy/hectic family life at home. We are also gearing up to move so we had boxes everywhere that they had to work around. We have a toddler and dogs so there were a lot of working parts to clear out space to let them work but they were more than happy to work around our lives. Every time we bumped into Ron we were met with a smile and never heard a complaint from him even though I am sure we got in his way plenty of times. Ron and his helper worked at our house for 4 long days, he provided all the material except the screen door to the back porch and the carpet to be installed. The total price was extremely reasonable and Ron does FANTASTIC work. He even went above and beyond and touched up extra areas in the bathroom of poorly laid sheetrock from the previous owners. I couldn't be more pleased with Ron and his helper, they were great and we would hire them in an instant if we were moving around this area. I highily, HIGHLY recommend Ron.
Description of Work: Finished sheetrock in a half bath, replaced toilet, added light fixture, added door w/ frame. Added sliding doors and hardware to a large closet in one of the bedrooms. Replaced rotted pieces of wood on shed to include half of the shed roof. Installed carpet on outdoor porch, replaced screen door, fixed broken parts of screen. Installed quarter round on floors in kitchen. Price included materials and labor!

Description of Work: The GC came out to look at my walls. He told me that the mold was dead and could be cleaned and that all the cracks were fixable. He let my wife know exactly what product to get and said that it would be more economical to do it ourselves fairly easily. I appreciate the honesty and will absolutely use them in the future.
Contractor was very punctual every day. Cleaned areas as he went along. Each job was performed as we discussed; and done in a very professional way. I had put out job requests to 4 contractors, and this one was the only one who replied. I'm sure glad he did get back to me, now my repairs are complete and I would use him for other jobs. Have also shared his info with my friends.
Description of Work: Replaced damaged piece of drywall in kitchen ceiling. Textured and painted entire kitchen ceiling. Replaced attic steps unit; then painted it. Adjusted two louver closet doors.
I contacted Ron from Florida to do a project for my Father-in-law in Maryland (Rosedale, Baltimore area). Ron met with Jim and provided a detailed estimate, and after my down payment went to work as soon as materials arrived. We communicated on a daily basis, and the Project was performed professionally, with quality and attention to details. You need to use Ron for your projects, period.

Ron installed new flooring in all 3 of our bathrooms and it looks great. Ron has also done various other jobs for us over the last 2 years including: -installing new flooring in a previous home -installng a drain in a basement stair well (in this instance Ron saved us $2k+ by installing a drain vs replacing Bilco doors). -Painting master bedroom and bathroom Ron seems very busy, however he has been honest about his availability and has kept his word when it comes to scheduling. I will continue to happily seek out Finger Lakes when I'm looking at repairs and upgrades to my home.

It took awhile for Ron to get to the job -- but then, we did tell him the job was not high priority. When he did promise a specific date, the installation was done that day and exactly as I'd wished.

Ron was quick to respond to our initial inquiry through Angie's list message center, whereas a competitor never responded. He stopped by the house, gave a free estimate and began work when convenient to our schedule - within 2 days. Ron has a pleasant, upbeat manner and displays professionalism. It was easy to contact him through the Angie's List message service; we received prompt replies to several emails prior to initiating work. Work was completed quickly and in exactly the time frame expected. As mentioned previously, Ron works methodically, purposefully and is a skilled, meticulous carpenter. We are very pleased to have a great looking entry to our home, assurance our windows are prepped for the future - and we can finally connect a new hose to our outdoor faucet. We will contact Ron for any future home improvement needs.
Description of Work: Removed rotted front door trim. Purchased and replaced trim with PVC board, so it would not rot - including small decorative molding. Purchased and painted new trim with matching paint and attached house numbers. Caulked windows on the first and second floor. Removed fiercely stuck hose attachment on the back outdoor spigot.

When he told me the estimate, I was shocked at how high it was and asked for a written, detailed estimate so I could understand why it was so high. He said he would do that. More than a week has gone by, and no estimate or contact from him at all. So I've moved on and have contacted and set up an appointment with another highly rated company from Angie's list. I'm very disappointed, as Mr. Janeski had good ratings on Angie's List. However, as I thought about it, there were no ratings newer than 2011, and I thought that odd. That together with his very high estimate and then not following up on what his estimate was based on by providing me details makes me very leery, and I thought I should let others know of this experience. UPDATE: I have hired another provider on Angie's List who is consistently rated by all reviewers with A's, over a long period of time. It's interesting to note that my cost with this company would be somewhere between $400 and $800 total depending on how some of the projects go once they get into them.
Description of Work: I called and asked if Mr. Janeski would come and look at the projects I need done. I asked him what he charges, and he said $65/hr. He came and carefully wrote everything down (a good sign) and then the next week he called with an estimate.

Following the blizzards of 2010, a sheet of ice developed on the side of our house and began to force water through the wall into the house, forcing us to have the wall removed to mitigate further damage. Ron worked within the confines of our insurance company allowance, and responded quickly to our calls. He provided a good estimate, and got the job done quickly and professionally, He was always careful to clean up his mess, and was always friendly. We are having Ron back to do some more work this summer.
Description of Work: Ron replaced an interior wall that had been torn down to bare brick due to water damage.

Ron was very professional and did excellent work. He installed and painted the trim for 5 or 6 rooms exactly as I asked. The work took a bit longer than expected (due to issues with the paint I had chosen). Ron didn't ask for any additional money nor did he complain. He cleaned up every afternoon and allowed me to inspect the work after he had finished. He had a key to my house and is very trustworthy. I recommend him very highly. Ron also has training as a plumber. I might be calling him shortly for a bathroom remodel job.
Description of Work: Crown Moulding, Window Trim, baseboard installation and painting.
