 + -1 moreOne does not expect to get compliments on a repaved driveway, but in this case I've been getting them even since the job was finished, even from strangers. Mr. Stanley came out and gave me an estimate the day I called him, and then he came out promptly a second time when I decided to add a couple additional elements to the job. I did have one bid that was slightly lower than his (by $90) but I couldn't be more pleased with the finished results.
Description of Work: Stanley Asphalt repaved my 19-year-old, long, steep driveway and two parking pads. They removed overgrowth and soil that had incroached on both margins of the wooded driveway, widened and reworked a tight bend in the drive that was always difficult to navigate, rebuilt part of a curb, and neatly joined the new asphalt with the threshold of my garage at one end, with the street and the interface with my neighbor's driveway at the other.

 + -1 moreIt went very well. He had 4 workmen with him and they were good steady workers. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. I asked several questions and he answered them all. I would not hesitate to use this company again( I have already recommended him to a friend). They finished the job in 1 day, as he said he would. The only reason I gave him a B in punctuality was because he said he would be there between 9 - 9:30 and he didn't show up until 10.
Description of Work: He paved over an existing concrete driveway and doubled the width of the driveway. Total area approximatly 800 sq feet he paved.

 + 1 moreE. Stanley were prompt in getting me an estimate and their price was extremely reasonable. They were one of a few companies I found that were able to handle both the concrete work and the asphalt paving. (Others required separate estimates resulting in higher prices) They were able to complete the concrete work in one day and the crew did an outstanding job. They returned the following week to complete the asphalt work and back-fill the area around the driveway. The price also included an aluminum edging that gives you a clean uniform line along the side of the asphalt. Ernie from E. Stanley ran into a snag with the ordering of the aluminum but, handled the problem professionally and was able to keep the job moving. I have to say that the crew worked hard the entire time and Ernie was particular about the quality of work being performed by his crew. I'd highly recommend E.Stanley to anyone. I've already received many compliments on the driveway and it's only been completed for a few days.

Ernie, along with his son Rich and his crew showed up on time, worked with us to ensure the new driveway would handle water runoff from the yard, and got everything done in a day, as promised. Ernie and Rich were very pleasant to work with, answered questions while the job was underway, and did a great job.
Description of Work: Complete removal and replacement of 1200 SF asphalt driveway with 2"-3" of asphalt containing 3/8" stone.

 + -1 moreErnie came out and estimated the job for us and a neighbor a month prior to the actual installation. I had to delay the install somewhat and ESAP said that was no problem and just ot let them know when I wanted to commence activity. An agreeable date was set and the crew showed up right on time (9:30) and was done a little after noon. They did a great job and I even saved $100 with my Angie's List coupon.
Description of Work: The company retopped our driveway. This involved evening out some sunken areas, particularly in front of the garage.

Stanley Asphalt, which was double the quote I received from other companies, and today received a follow up call asking if we had made a decision pertaining to our asphalt sealing needs. However, as I was explaining my situation to E. Stanley Asphalt's customer service rep, he began to lecture me. He criticized and critiqued the other companies with whom I was obtaining estimates from. In addition, it took E.Stanley Asphalt two calls to finally come out and give me an estimate. Very unprofessional. The end of the conversation ended with him asking me to remove his name from our list of potential companies, as he did not want to undertake our driveway. Pushy and terrible customer service. Will certainly alert 100 other home owners in the neighborhood about my terrible experience with this company.
Description of Work: Asphalt sealant was needed for 4 homes in neighborhood, however a quote was only given for 3, despite clear communication of needs.

 + -1 moreI settled on a company made arrangements for a date. E Stanley Asphalt came on the day promised and did the work in one day. I contacted my neighbors via email, although I did not have everyone's correct email at the beginning of the process. I kept everyone informed throughout the arrangements. My costs of the common driveway was the highest (People don't want to pay for the area they don't use). Two of my neighbors helped me pay for the small area near the beginning of the driveway. Everyone cooperated in moving their cars down to the street. I contacted the County traffic divisions to let them know about the parking on the side of the road and was told it was ok as long as people stayed to the right of the white line. The areas of the common driveway which were paved look great, and I am looking forward to going down the steep hill and up the steep hill to my driveway with no trouble this winter. One of the neighbors after the job was completed decided to do his whole driveway.
Description of Work: We live on a very long common driveway with 5 other houses. Our house is near the end of the common driveway. Our area was in need of repair with pot holes, and it included going down and then up a long area before it reached the last two homes. At the beginning of the common driveway there was a patch of the road with numerous deep pot holes. Two of the homes at the very beginning of the area were not affected by the problems. Since I was concerned about the road, I contacted all of the neighbors. I noticed that two other neighbors had problems with their aprons where they met the common driveway. I checked Angie's List to find the name of 2 asphalt companies to give me an estimate. I also asked the two neighbors who had a problem with their driveway aprons if they would like to get an estimate (They did). I felt it would be more economical for everyone. They were interested. I called both companies and got an estimate. I thought both companies were responsive, but went with the cheaper estimate.

 + -1 moreCompany was very responsive to my call. Came out, measured, took pictures, and developed an estimate. We discussed fixing some basic problems that led to the failure of the existing driveway. Their analysis was identical to mine. We arranged a work date, which had to be postponed due to weather. The Postponement was easy and they were considerate of my needs. Good thing, because on the date they were due to work, the county unexpectedly came out and tore up my yard (don't ask), so we had to postpone again. The company was very flexible, and completed the job amazingly quickly and well. I would use them again in a heartbeat!

 + -1 moreTheir after the sale follow up is a bit lacking. During the work that they did they were on time and friendly and professional. They promised to do some additional work and they never ended up doing it for me. We now have to end up doing it ourselves, after the bill was paid. Their prices were comparable with other companies but there were some additional charges that I thought were excessive. I would not use them again.
Description of Work: They did an asphalt driveway for me. They also did decorative stone slab porch for me as well. They did this work in the fall of 2007.

Not only did I receive a call back in less than 10 minutes, I had someone at my home to complete the estimate that day. Extremely affordable and the work was done that week. The company was in constant contact with us and cares deeply about their job performance and reputation. I highly recommend them!

 + -1 moreWe needed our very long 16 year old driveway repaired and sealed. We chose three contractors from Angie's List and made comparisons. The first was priced much higher than the other two (who were in the same general price range). Both of the companies identified the same six problem areas, both are family owned and operated. Mr Stanley Sr. did the estimate and Stanley Jr. and crew did the work. They were friendly, capable, and described well the work to be done. We were pleased with the work done and felt that we made a good choice. However, we felt badly about having to tell our second choice that he was the runner up; a very close second!
Description of Work: They needed to repair six large areas of our existing driveway that had cracked and crumbled over time, lay new asphalt over the entire driveway then seal everything. They accomplished this in a few days without disrupting the flow of traffic on our street.

We came up with a plan and set a date for the actual work. The day of the job they showed up right on time and were very professional. Everything was done quickly and efficiently and they cleaned up everything immediately after.
Description of Work: I have a semi-large driveway that was not maintained by the previous home owner. E. Stanley pulled up the old asphalt and redid the whole driveway plus added at walkway where there was none.

 + -1 moreI'm sitting on the front porch right now looking at my new driveway. It is more than we had hoped for. Working with E. Stanley Asphalt was a great experience all the way around. Robin, who handles the phone and arranges things, was very helpful, attentive, efficient, and personable. Ernie Sr. estimated the job promptly and Ernie Jr. and his crew did the installation work. The crew was well trained and cleaned up everything perfectly. Ernie was wonderful. He was going to be a little late so he gave us a call so that we'd know. He was very friendly and didn't complain at all about the very narrow road with parked cars on it that he had to negotiate that big equipment around. When we told him what we were able to have done, he looked at our sad looking parking area and, wanting to make sure he left us with a nice looking area, arranged it so that we could have more done at a price we could afford. We couldn't be happier.
Description of Work: Graded (including digging up and removing some old concrete) and installed a new driveway with millings (reclaimed asphalt - more compact and attractive than stone, not as compact or long lasting as asphalt but more affordable) for a 10 ' x 65' driveway and a 20'x30' parking pad plus some additional area to make our unattractive back yard look tidy.
