Joe Stanley was a nice guy...showed up on time to go over scope of work and options. Only problem is that I never received an estimate that was promised the following week. I followed up with a phone call and got the "thought I sent it response" but then he asked for clarification on the options discussed which leads me to believe it was never sent. Joe told me he would get it to me within a day or so.... again it never came. I let another week go by and called the office in a last ditch attempt that someone may be more organized …. explained the sequence of events and explained that I never received a proposal/price. I might have moved forward with this company if I had gotten a price.

Overall summarized review: You can't go wrong with E. Stanley. I worked primarily with Joe, son of Ernie the owner, and have to say Joe is one very nice, congenial, professional, and knowledgable young man. When I met Ernie later (also a great guy) I even made a point to tell him how I was impressed and that I thought he should be very proud his son. When I initiated my process and called five companies to solicit bids (one never returned my call) , Joe was the first to return my call and was out soon afterwards to survey the job site and provide an estimate. He took the time to answer all of my questions, address any of my concerns, explained the work to be done and the materials and equipment to be used in detail, and neither rushed nor pressured me during that initial meeting nor anytime afterwards. After I obtained the bids and had follow-up questions for those four companies towards making my final decision, Joe was always quick to reply to my follow-up queries and thorough in his responses. I eventually chose E. Stanley because of the good interrelationship I had established with Joe, they were the lowest bid (though only by $100), but they included a 3 year warranty whereas the others included only 1 year. Additionally, my own profession entails my providing project estimates and I am very aware that an estimate is an estimate, not a commitment, and that unforeseen issues can later arise during a job that can affect the final cost. To control and limit any overruns, I asked Joe to amend his contract to include a cap so that, should anything unforeseen arise, the total amount for the job would be limited to the cap and that, in effect, we both share some risks. He had no problem with adding that amendment. We scheduled the work. Joe had to later reschedule because of the weather and was prompt in getting to me about the change and the need to reschedule. On the day the work was to be done, Joe and his crew arrived promptly at the designated time. In addition to Joe and crew, Ernie also showed up for the day to provide personal oversight to, and assist with, the work. For virtually the entire day, both Joe and Ernie stayed onsite except for a few instances when one would have to leave for a short time. Both reiterated throughout the day that if I had any questions or concerns with anything to just ask. As for their crew, I have not seen a harder working and well organized bunch of guys like that in a long time. In my few interactions with them, they always very friendly and extremely polite. The did a fantastic job on the driveway and it looks great and is very well constructed. They also did a great clean-up job including reinserting the sod along the sides of the driveway that had been disturbed by the excavation. The unforeseen did arise during the job and they realized that the driveway would need an additional layer of asphalt for which they had not formulated in their estimate. This raised the total cost to more than the estimate, but was still less than the cap we had established. Was I a bit disappointed that I had to pay a few hundred dollars more? Of course, who wouldn't be? But was I still happy with the final cost? Yes. Would I use E. Stanley again for future work and recommend them to others? Absolutely! And, in fact, have already referred them to two of my employees. So, to repeat my opening remark, you can't go wrong with E. Stanley. It was a great business experience working with them and I recommend them highly. And personally, they are just such nice people too.

This is the second time that I've used E. Stanley Paving and would definitely use them again. Both times everything has gone extremely well. The crew are very professional, hard working and take pride in their work. Ernie is very patient, willing to explain the project in detail and responds when called.

Fantastic. Joe gave me the best explanation of exactly what he would be doing, gave me a very competitive estimate, and scheduled the job when I wanted it done. His crew was VERY good, and they preserved my flower beds that were next to the driveway. The asphalt was even, edges were very clean, and the clean up was very thorough. In addition, the asphalt had to come right up to my brick sidewalk, and they removed the existing asphalt by hand without even chipping a brick. I highly recommend E. Stanley for any paving job. I'm a very picky Senior citizen, and I was thrilled with the work. My neighbors have been by and say they will call Stanley if they need anything done. This was top notch work.

Ernest came and gave an estimate right on the spot. We got 2 other quotes and ESAP was the best value. Ernest answered all of my questions. The guys came when they said and I was surprised at how efficient they were. Solid family business.

Joe Stanley was highly responsive to questions I raised during my deliberations and was highly accommodating of my requests. The work was done timely and professionally.

Sealing and patch looked good and was completed quickly over an afternoon. I would hire again the next time my driveway needs to be sealed.

We have a flag lot with a long driveway and parking area. Work was completed promptly at the agreed time and cost. Installation appears to be of high quality. Will bring them back if it ever needs a redo.

I obtained an estimate from E. Stanley Asphalt Paving to repair a small sink-hole on my asphalt driveway. Joe, the estimator, arrived on-time and was very professional. He provided two options for the repair. The estimate was competitive with another I had obtained. I went with the other company because they were already scheduled to be in my area for another job and could complete the job within a few days of providing the estimate. If I need service on my driveway in the future, I would call E. Stanley Asphalt Paving again.

I checked with several companies before selecting E. Stanley. Their price was lower than the others and they have a great rating on Angie's List. They were prompt, professional, and did exactly what they said they would do. I will definitely use them again and recommend them to anyone needing driveway work.

Everything went great from start to finish

Mr. E Stanley and his crew removed the old asphalt from our 2 driveways, and then repaved them from the garage to the street. He handled a few small issues responsibly and respectfully, and we were more than satisfied with the completion of the job. The driveways look great! Thank you.

E. Stanley did an excellent job sealing my driveway. Joe of their company is very professional. He called me within minutes of my post of a request on Angie's List, and he came to my house the same day to give me an estimate. He followed up with a suggested day to do the job, and kept in contact / confirmed the date via text message the day of the job. He did an EXCELLENT job on my driveway. Highly recommend.

Driveway looks awesome and obviously because of high quality material applied by professionals with experience. So many fly-by-nite part time people in the sealant business applying thin material that looks bad. Not the case with Ernest Stanley: I highly recommend
