Serving Maryland, D.C. and Virginia, All Aspects Waterproofing the leader in service and quality. Over 35 years experience, providing the quality workmanship needed to keep your basement dry. Our life of the structure warranty is a reflection of our commitment to ensure every customer is satisfied. Whether you're a homeowner or a perspective buyer, having a dry basement will add value to your home.
For years whenever there was a heavy rain my basement would flood. I used to have to stay up nights with my wet vac trying to keep the water from ruining my things. My basement wall had a huge crack in it. I was afraid one day it would fall in. My overhead rafters were covered with black mold. It gave me headache and a runny nose just to go down in my basement. Finally it was too much. All Aspects sent a knowledgeable and polite inspector named Steve out to my house. Steve arrived early for our appointment. He showed me how All Aspects Waterproofing could solve all of my basement problems. That was about three years ago. Now after two hurricanes and a very rainy September when many of my neighbors have wet basements mine is staying bone dry and clean smelling. I would like to commend All Aspects Waterproofing for the excellent work they have done for me. I am recommending them to my friends and family and would advise anyone having basement problems to give them a call.

The estimate given was fair and the timeline was reasonable. The gentlemen was very detailed in his delivery of what would be needed, which in this case was a complete French drain with 2 sump pumps.
Description of Work: My husband and I made a appointment for a estimate for waterproofing our basement. The gentlemen never showed nor called to let us know he would not be coming. We did receive a call apologizing and a request to set up a appointment. We also received multiple letters from the company apologizing for the mistake and we were asked to change our angie's list rating after we had the estimate given.

What a great experience. The guys showed up on time, got straight to work, and finished ahead of schedule, notwithstanding a few unexpected hiccups due to work that had been done on the basement by the prior owners of the house. As they were packing up, I was figuring I'd have a little cleaning up to do after them to wipe up all the dust, but then I turned around and saw them on their hands and knees wiping down my kitchen floor. Everything was spotless when they left. I'd highly recommend them.

We are first-time homeowner's. After the hurricane Irene and the subsequent rain, we noticed small drops of water seeping through the seams of the linoleum in our basement when we walked on the floor. We contacted All Aspects. The operator was friendly and took down a summary of the problem. The technician (Tony) contacted us immediately. He told us over the phone how to check if the sump pump was working. (It was). After that he told us the problem was probably that we needed a de-humidifier and told us to buy a hygrometer to measure the humidity levels in the basement. He told us the humidity levels should not exceed 60%, which would contribute to mold growth. He said that at this time we should try the fix he told us over the phone and if that didn't work to call back and set an appointment for him to come out to the house rather than waste money on a service call. I have never experienced such an ethical and professional contractor. I will need to install a back-up sump pump in the future and when I do I will definitely be calling All Aspects Waterproofing.

When hurricane Irene hit, my basement started getting water coming through a small crack in the poured concrete wall, near where the main water line comes in from outside. We had no power (no internet) so I went through the phone book and called several companies - one answered and came out to give a quote the same day. Turns out we needed a $4000 water management system. When the power came back and I went onto Angie's list, I started having doubts and wanted to get a second opinion before going forward. Thank goodness I called All Aspects! William answered the phone around 8:00 Sunday night and spoke with me at length and then scheduled to come out to the house today (2 days later.) After seeing the problem first hand he said that the expensive water management system would manage the problem but we might have better luck fixing up the gutters so that less (or no) water was being dropped near the lowest point of our house and dripping down towards the foundation. The gutter option should only cost us about $500 and if it doesn't solve the problem entirely, well, we still will have more effective gutters and can go forward with the invasive water management system later. I cannot recommend All Aspects highly enough for their responsiveness, friendliness, and trustworthiness. Even with the water management system if we went that route, their price quote was $700 less than the first company that came out. But hopefully that won't ever be needed. I know this sounds oddly similar to a more negative report that was just written but that's pure coincidence. It seemed weird to me too and I'm sorry that the other customer didn't have the same experience (it was apparently not William himself who came out to their property) but if nothing else, this shows that All Aspects listens to their customers and responds to make sure they don't make the same mistake twice.

Our house is 115 years old, and we have only been living there for 2 months. We owned our previous home for 11 years, and initially had water problems there, but we fixed them and learned a fair amount about water management in the process. About a month after we moved in we had some significant flooding in our basement. I contacted All Aspects and a couple other companies to get advice and estimates on solutions to the flooding in our basement. All Aspects recommended cutting out the concrete around the inside perimeter of our basement, laying in drain tile and gravel, and recementing the floor to cover up the new drain tile. This estimate came out to over $9000.00. I asked about water management outside, including cleaning the gutters (which apparently the previous owner had never done), ensuring the downspouts and water runoff were adequate, and ensuring that all the grading was away from the house. I was assured that while this might help, it would probably not fix the issue. The estimator also gave me an estimate, at my request, for digging around the foundation of the house on the outside, laying in drain tile outside, applying waterproof membrane on the outside of the foundation, and regrading the backfill. This was in excess of $7000. While we were deciding what to do, Hurricane Irene hit the area. In the meantime, we had had the gutters cleaned and the downspouts checked. The runoff for the downspouts was rerouted further away from the foundation, and I fixed some grading outside myself. During Irene, I checked the basement multiple times, and we have remained dry as a bone as of day 2 after Irene. Total cost so far has been under $300. While I don't doubt that what All Aspects planned to do to my house would have fixed our water problem, and it would have been performed in a workman-like and professional manner, I think they could have been more open to a less expensive and less intrusive solution to the problem. If you have water coming in to your basement, I would encourage you to think of ways to decrease the amount of water up against the foundation before you let the water in to your basement and simply manage it after it comes in, as All Aspects wanted to do. UPDATE 05/28/2013: We have been in the house for almost 2 years now through many torrential downpours and a hurricane or 2. The only work we had done in terms of waterproofing was fixing the gutters, installing gutter guards to keep the gutters clean , and fixing the grading. We have had no water in the basement since these repairs, even without going with the extensive and expensive repairs recommended.

Estimator explained everything thoroughly. Workers did an excellent job. They had to remove concrete and portions of drywall along a 50' wall, dig French drains, install piping, replace window wells, install a sump pump and replace concrete floor. The one-day job took two days because the builder added something to the concrete. Instead of taking the usual 3 hours to remove the concrete, it took 11 or 12. The project was handled the best way possible under the circumstances.

In April we had 5 companies give us estimates to put an inside drain along 3 sides of the foundation. I found all the presentations to be very professional, extremely informative and very clear in their explanation of what they considered to be the problem, and with the manner in which they would fix it. The estimates ranged from $5490 to $6300. Even though we inquired whether the problem was with the foundation walls not being sealed well enough, they felt that the water was not coming from the walls, but from ground water seeping up from underneath the foundation. Even though they agreed it MAY be the walls, they still felt that the interior drain system would be the best to use because it would correct the problem whichever way the water was coming in and it was the only procedure they would guarantee. Well, after waiting for 6 months, and finding very little seepage especially with all this rain we have had recently, and with the advice of a local building inspector, we took a couple of panels off one wall and it is very apparent that a small amount of water does indeed come in through the wall. This indicates that the problem is that the outside of the lower level wall needs to be re-waterproofed, not that we have a ground water problem that is seeping up from beneath the foundation. We will be solving the problem with regrading the outside land to slope away from the house and new gutters.

I got 3 quotes for this job. All Aspects sent Jeff to our house to give us an estimate and he was by far the most knowledgable guy of the three companies. Instead of rushing into selling us some pre-packaged solution like the others, he actaully took time to investigate the problem... he went over our property with a fine toothed comb and told us exactly what was wrong and why. Overall, we liked All Aspects solution the best. Their price was about $1000 more than the other estimates, but I think we ultimately got more bang for our buck becuase the solution was much more comprehensive. They performed all of the work mentioned above a few days after our estimate... we were in a time crunch and they accomodated us right away. The also finished ahead of schedule. They tarped the rest of the house off from the basement so as not to circulate all the construction debris all over the rest of my house, used a negative air containment system to keep the mold spores and dust contained, and cleaned up their mess thoroughly before they left each day. All of the work comes with a lifetime, transferable warranty, and they are the only company in the area whose solution is approved and backed by HUD. We did our due diligence before choosing All Aspects... lets face it, its a lot of money and you want the job done right. I think we made the right decision and are extremely happy with the results. There isn't any more water, the stinky smell is gone, and the air is dryer and more comfortable. I highly recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: We've had several basement floods (i.e. we go downstairs and there's standing water everywhere). Before the bought the house it had mold and was treated, but the smell never really went away. It was also incredibly humid and uncomfortable downstairs. All Aspects installed a drainage system in my basement (about 128' total). They filled in 3 dead sump wells, and replaced them with two new wells that were better positioned. They also installed sump pumps and drainage pipes. They cleaned 3 window wells and installed drains in them. They dug up the old drain in our exterior basement stairwell and installed a new drain & drain pipe that runs into the new sump well. They also drilled drainage holes in the cinder block walls around the basement perimiter. Last but not least, they treated the basement for mold.

During our home inspection our inspector found signs of a little damp in two corners and there is some visible mold on some uncovered torn insulation. Jeff checked the wall with a special device for damp but found nothing. He said the mold was not active. He recommended that at some point in the near future we should swap our sump pump out for a newer model. I was very impressed by his honesty, not trying to push unnecessary work on us. We do not need their services at this time but if we have any damp issues in the future I would definitely call this company.

Zeke from All Aspects came out to give us an estimate on repairing a leak in our finished basement. We had water in a hallway and wet carpet in a guest bedroom. After seeing prices on several other reviews for All Aspects and other companies, I was expecting to be hit pretty hard with a repair bill. Zeke came out and checked everything out, getting back into small closets, looking inside soffits, and talking me through his thought process. In about half an hour he diagnosed the problem as a crack where an AC line came into the building. We used a hose outside to confirm it was the source of the leak, then he told me how to fix it myself for $20 at Home Depot. He then spent another 10 minutes or so talking about a long term plan for my house and what we might need to do over the next few years. Zeke never tried to push anything on me, and seemed completely happy to tell me how to fix things myself for free. I highly recommend these guys and will certainly call them again if we have problems down the road.

At the end of the day, the quality of the work appeared to be good. The crew removed a 15" width of the slab along three walls, and the molded portion of the wall up to the height of the window well, and an 18" section along the bottom of the remainder of that wall and the other wall with window wells. They removed the old pipe and the old aggregate, then put in new aggregate, pipe, moisture drain along the walls, and drains from the window wells. After placing the pump, they did a nice job of pouring and finishing the concrete. My only complaint is that their crew wanted to cut corners. All Aspects markets themselves as one of the few EPA certified mold remediation specialists, and this was a major factor in selecting them, but the crew that performed the work hardly cared about the mold. Water had leaked through the wall and into the drywall and carpet and then molded. The crew merely folded back the carpet to access the floor, but were not going to remove the moldy section even though their estimator and I had discussed this very thing. They were also to seal the basement from the upstairs and use a filtered air pump vented to the outside to pull the basement air and mold spores out of the house while cleaning the area. Although they sealed the basement, they did not use the pump until I insisted. When I asked about it, they said that there was not any cement dust yet, but they may put the pump in use when they began jack-hammering the floor. They did not even understand that they pump was for the mold, not the dust. Certified mold remediation does not matter much unless the crew themselves are properly trained and care. When I insisted, they did bring the pump down and plug it in, but they didn't vent it outside. The let it blow right into the basement. I had to insist on that, too. Not the sharpest knives in the draw, these guys.
Description of Work: Removed a section of the basement slab along three walls, then installed drain pipe, three window well drains, and sump pump. Lastly, poured and finished concrete to repair the slab. Remediated a small section of mold approx. 3' x 3'.

I emailed All Aspects on a Thursday evening and got a call from them first thing Friday morning. The woman in the office was very nice and helpful in setting up the appointment for the estimate. She made sure I had the estimator's cell phone in case I needed to reach him on the day of our appointment (a Saturday). The estimator, Zeke, came on time and could not have been nicer. He was incredibly patient as I walked him through the various facets of the problem. He checked my sump pump in the front of my house, even though there was no water coming in there, just to make sure it was functional. After showing him around, I was fully prepared to get the hard sell for a sump pump and drainage system, a job running into the thousands. Instead, his assessment was the same as mine: I need to clean the gutters, patch the holes in the brick, and regrade the yard to get the water away from the house. He said that my foundation really hadn't had a fair chance to perform, given the amount of water ponding next to the house. If I do all this, after a year, he said, and I still have water coming in, then I should consider installing a sump pump. He told me exactly what I should buy to patch my wall, and he gave me a referral to someone who does the kind of work I need to have done. Zeke spent an hour with me, answering every question, and he was cheerful and kind the whole time. In the end, the job came to nothing for All Aspects. That kind of honesty is very refreshing and comforting, and I will certainly use them if these low-tech solutions don't resolve my problem.
Description of Work: I had flooding in my basement due to an unusual confluence of factors: 1) my gutter was clogged, causing water to stream down the side of my house; 2) my neighbors' (I live in a row house) gutter was disconnected from the drain pipe that carries water away from the foundation. Since their yard is slightly higher than mine, their runoff was ending up on my property; 3) the previous owner of my house had made some modifications to the wall that were causing water to trickle into the basement through the brick between the basement ceiling and kitchen floor; 4) a drainage problem under my deck was trapping water next to the basement wall. During a recent storm, I found 2-8" of water ponding under my deck, which I spent 90 minutes bailing into the street to prevent that water from entering the basement. I had water flowing through the holes in the brick wall, and the next day I had seepage through the foundation onto the basement floor.

It turned out very well. It's just been a week. There was a little bit of a problem with the storm we had on Wednesday. They came out this morning and it wasn't anything they did but they fixed it. In the storm I had additional water in the house on top of the work they had done. It actually was coming in from a hole above the grade in the backyard through the outside wall of the house. It was good that they cemented the hole. If they hadn't fixed it now and we had gotten the drywall all replaced and it was still getting wet, they would have been out digging up the floor. That would have been the next step of the problem. This was the first time I had used them. Their price was excellent. The quality of their work seems good so far.

They were honest about things. They weren't very pushy. In fact we haven't got the work done because they simply came out and gave us the quote. They said if we wanted to do the work to contact them. There was no pressure at all. They were very informative. They were willing to take time with us. They educated us on what the issues were or could be and what the potential solutions could be. They basically allowed us to make a decision about the process by ourselves and not have to be pressured which I really appreciated. If we do have the work done, it will be them simply based on the interaction we had with them so far. They were here within a couple of days after we called. I had no issues with this company. I've actually referred them to other people already.

They did a good job. I spent about $4000 for their service. They basically tented inside the house. They were very careful when they were doing the demolition because there was quite a bit of black mold. They used a filter as well. They really took care of my house for the most part. Their price was good. Their responsiveness was a little difficult. They were supposed to finish the job in a day, but that was really not possible. They had to have an inspector come out and look at it first before they could pour the concrete. My basement was actually left with a big hole in it for about a week until they could get an inspector over. Then they had to schedule to pour the concrete. The issue was the scheduling part. The guy who sold me the services told me one thing. Then when the job started, it was a completely different story. It took much longer to get the hole closed up. They were responsive. They reduced the cost when I complained. They were punctual too. They showed up when they said they would show up. Everybody I dealt with was professional. He was professional too, but he wasn’t completely honest with me about what to expect. I had three people come out to give me bids on the job and none of them gave me the real story. So, that was my only complaint with All Aspects. They offered me the mold filtering when they were doing the work. I think that was really good. The other companies didn’t offer that. Once everything was clearly laid out, they were honest with me about everything. It was unprofessional of their sales guy to not be completely on the level with me. If need be, then I would use their services again. I now know what to expect.
Description of Work: I used the services of All Aspects Waterproofing for basement waterproofing in November of last year. They jackhammered the pad inside the room. So, it basically wrapped all the way around the south side of my home and put in a French drain down there. They dug out 5 feet below the pad. Then they laid pipe in there to collect the water and put in a sump pump. So, there is a sump pump now below the floor. Then they hooked the sump pump to the pipe. When it rains it goes into the gravel and not into my room. The sump pump pumps the water outside the house when there is enough water collected. They put a hole through the foundation to put the drains.

See above -- very detailed!!! We miss Diego and the guys! It was a total pleasure having them here and they did excellent work. We especially appreciated the extra time which Diego put in to come up with a solution for how to deal with the exposed brick wall (see above). We know that if we have any problems in the future, we can call them and count on them.
Description of Work: We have had water problems in our walk-out basement for most of the 20+ years we've lived here. Our house is approximately 50 years old. My husband and son thought they had remedied the water problem by creating an underground drainage system to take the water from the gutters and downspouts away from the house. The storm on March 10, 2011 broke all records in Baltimore for inches of rain in a short amount of time. Our house was practically floating!!! We had to buy THREE wet-vacs to keep up with the water coming in! After that, we called two huge waterproofing companies which advertise heavily, and had signed a contract with one of them before checking Angie's List and seeing that this huge, well-known company received "F" ratings in most categories!!! We saw the rave reviews for All Aspects and immediately called them. Diego from All Aspects came out Friday, May 21and spent over two hours with us. A huge complication was that two years ago we had masons build a brick wall in the finished part of the basement, making it look like exposed brick. It is beautiful! However, it was a nightmare figuring out how to waterproof without having the many-ton wall collapse! Diego and my husband worked HOURS coming up with a plan. The workers were here for three days and (thank God) they did a superb job!!! They put in french drains along the entire front wall, including in front of the exposed brick wall, and around half of a side wall. They put in a sump pump along with the back-up battery pack. From beginning to end, we felt we were dealing with the BEST! ?There was no slick salesmanship, no obnoxious pushiness! And Diego actually was on the scene several times throughout the process -- even on Memorial Day weekend! Best of all, they are AMAZINGLY NEAT AND CLEAN, tenting off every inch of the basement which wasn't being worked on!!! We would recommend All Aspects with no reservations whatsoever. With the dire predictions about major hurricanes coming to the East Coast this year, we can finally sleep well at night knowing that our house won't float away!

I called many companies trying to find one that would take a look for us. Most of the companies couldn't fit it in their schedule (it was the Thursday before memorial day weekend) or refused to check out the home because we had not yet closed, and they were worried about not getting any business. I contacted All Aspects Waterproofing late Thursday afternoon and Rob was at the house by noon the next day. He charged us absolutely nothing for the inspection, and carefully explained to us that our problems were limited to air circulation and humidity - not any major issues with leaks, mold, etc. He spent quite a bit of time explaining to us various solutions we could implement ourselves (what type of dehumidifier to purchase, where to install vents for air flow, etc.), and at the end of the inspection said that he did not see a problem that needed any work from his company. I was very surprised. I expected any company we brought in to find at least something that needed to be done, but Rob was extremely honest, and did not charge us a thing for his inspection! It gave us tremendous peace of mind about buying the house, and a roadmap for what to do in the basement once we did. If I ever end up needing repair work, All Aspects Waterproofing will be my first call. It's hard to find professional, knowledgable business people who will tell you the truth, even if it hurts their bottom line. Since they didn't actually perform any work on the house, I can't necessarily vouch for the quality of their work. But I can vouch for their knowledge, professionalism, and honesty, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to others. A++.
Description of Work: My wife and I are purchasing a house in Arlington, VA, and there was an awful musty smell in the basement. We were worried about closing on the home without knowing the extent of any moisture issues. We had two days to finalize our inspection report, and needed someone to explain to us the extent of any damage so we could both: (1) decide whether we wanted the house; and (2) how much it would cost to fix.

The price was a little higher than other quotes but we felt due to the professionalism, knowledge and previous reviews we felt more assured in their work guaranty. They also seemed very knowledgeable about mold remediation which was a big concern for us. The contact I spoke with (Rob) provided lots of information about dealing with my air quality concerns due to the mold, and provided suggestions for dealing with other work we were going to have done (including offering to discuss with our duct cleaner the mold issues to make sure it will be cleaned properly). They did the work very quickly (about 2 days) and were very clean and prompt. They were also very responsive when my contractor pulled up some other paneling in the basement and found more mold beyond what they had already worked on. We are very happy with their customer service and would use them again.
Description of Work: Work included basement perimeter drainage, two window well drains, two crawlspace fans, sump pump and mold remediation. They also threw in two humidity monitors. Price listed includes Angie's list discount.

Everything went great and they even moved up the start date to accomodate the upcoming birth of our first child, knowing that the noise from the construction would disturb a sleeping newborn. They responded quickly and got the work done within the promised time.
Description of Work: Waterproofed the basement and repaired drainage pipe system leading to the basement. Additionally, replaced sump pump.

They were great and very knowledgeable. They were very helpful and explained everything in detail. They also assessed some other work which needed to be done in future. I liked their services and will use the same in future.

foundation repair

Jeff B. came out and took the time to explain to me that my issue was nothing to worry about and was perfectly normally for the age of my home. Considering there was no money to be made, he was generous with his time and explained throughly how my foundation was built and how it supported the house. Should I have any need for foundation repair, I now know exactly who I will call first.
Description of Work: I had a concern about my foundation because of pipe that was leaking under the concrete slab.
