We had a bit of trouble getting an estimate, I guess they were busy and therefore a little slow to make an appointment for the quote and then slow to get us the paperwork for the quote and contract. But once the work started the experience was great. They fixed the standing water (after a rain storm) problem we had in our backyard. They evened out the yard, added a dry well and ran pipe from one of our gutter drains and then a drainage pipe to the curb. They worked under our fence and removed the french drain that wasn't working and then used some of the stones from the drain in our dry well. They saved the grass as well and added new seed and straw to the places they dug up. Our yard looked a mess for a day and a half but then they were done and cleaned up as if they'd never been there. A real professional hard working crew. A bit expensive but got rid of the standing water problem the house has had for 10 years.

All Aspects was very quick in responding to our inquiry and setting up an appointment. Mr. Zeke Bozell called us when his earlier appointment ran long and arrived fairly quickly after. He checked out the basement with us, took measurements, and listened to us describe our concerns, which consisted of a trickle of water that appeared in our basement during heavy rains and the mustiness that accompanied it. He walked us through their very impressive process, but pointed out that our problem was minimal. Since we are planning some other costly improvements, Zeke said that, while waterproofing would probably alleviate the problem we were having, the problem was small and we really didn't have to worry about it. He is experienced in old homes, and pointed out that people that purchased homes like ours would not expect a pristine basement. He recommended getting a better dehumidifier if we were really concerned. Wow! How often do you get that kind of honesty? Though we are not going to do this project, I definitely would recommend All Aspects.
Description of Work: We were concerned occasional about water and musty smell in basement of our old (100+ years) house.

I was extremely impressed with this company. I called for an estimate back in May and Rob arrived promptly on the day of the appointment. He spent a great deal of time explaining what needed to be done and how the work would be performed. Although I thought the estimate was high, I decided to move forward given the number of positive reviews the company had received from prior customers. (Also, the 10% off coupon from Angie's List made the price more reasonable.) The work began on Monday, June 11 (at my request) and was completed by Thursday, June 14. A crew of 3 worked diligently and efficiently. First, they hung plastic sheeting to keep dust from going into the main house and they also covered all items in the basement with plastic to keep dust off of the items stored there. Then, for hours, the crew dug up the slab of the basement next to the foundation and hauled bucket after bucket of heavy dirt and concrete up a flight of stairs and out to their truck. Then, they installed the drain pipes with filter cloth after putting stone/gravel in the dug out trench. Again, hours of work were entailed in hauling the stone/gravel into the basement bucket by bucket. After installing the drain pipes, they put in the 2 new submersible sump pumps and completed the project by putting in new concrete and smoothing it out nicely to blend in with the existing floor slab. They also did a phenomenal job installing the outside discharge lines being careful not to put any dirt on the lawn (they used long sheets of plastic to store the dirt temporarily) and dug up the grass like pieces of sod. Once the discharge lines were installed, they replaced the dirt and replaced the original grass over the trenched areas. They even watered the dug up areas to better ensure that the grass would not die. Another compliment must be shared in that the crew was attentive to cleaning up during and after the project. Very little mess was left for me to clean up. Now, of course, I will have to wait to see if the completed project works over the long run! (No heavy rains yet to test the system). But, with a lifetime warranty, I am assuming that all will continue to go well. In closing, I haven't seen any company in years that has provided such prompt, courteous, and quality work. And, this is something else that I haven't said in years--I have no complaints!!
Description of Work: All Aspects installed a water redirectional system (Miradrain Wall System) in our basement covering 86 linear feet. They also installed 2 heavy duty submersible pumps (sump pumps) and hauled away all the debris.

I wanted to get the laundry room in my basement finished and a contractor said I should get the room waterproofed before he did any work. He recommended All Aspects Waterproofing (AAW) and another company. Jeff from AAW examined my basement and recommended a 140' waterproofing system with two sump pumps and a 9"X9" box drain. He also touted the company's expertise in mold remediation. He pulled up the carpet in the bedroom and claimed he smelled mold. He noted that AAW does mold remediation unlike other companies. I contacted two other waterproofing companies to give me estimates. One stated outright that I didn't need a waterproofing system installed. He too pulled up the carpet in the bedroom and said there was no moisture under it and he noted no mold as well. The third company also suggested the work did not need to be done but gave me estimates to waterproof the two unfinished basement rooms only. I then contacted a home inspector to give me an unbiased evaluation of whether or not I needed the whole basement waterproofing work done. If I were going to sell my home I didn't not want a home inspection recommending a whole waterproofing system at the 11th hour. In his estimation all that was needed was to paint the cinder block walls with water stop paint. He did detect moisture but not enough to warrant a nearly $10,000 correction. I also contacted a mold remediation specialist. If I had mold I wanted to address it. He too pulled up the carpet in the bedroom and did not find mold. He did not smell it and he got down on all fours. He said the only way to truly tell about mold would be to do a mold sample but he did not think my situation warranted that. He also recommended the water stop paint solution. I cannot comment on the quality of AAW's work but since I didn't have flooding issues to begin with, I think their estimate was over the top for my situation.
Description of Work: Jeff from All Aspects Waterproofing provided me an estimate of $9,873 to waterproofing my basement. He took an hour to thoroughly examine my basement.

Thank you for your report. Your on site remodeling contractor advised, you need to waterproof and recommended All Aspects Waterproofing. We understand that if you are selling your home not wanting to spend money on corrections, however a purchaser would have a different view. We offered a permanant solution not a partial solution and painting the walls alone is not a solution, but a band-aid. Mold off gases and produces an odor and is a direct related to water/moisture issues and control. All companies cannot be measured the same, but by their training, knowledge, experience and quality of their work. We look forward to exceeding all Angie's List Members expectations.

In short, hire All Aspects. They're a great company to work with and I would recommend them to anyone ? thorough, friendly and dedicated to helping you keep your basement dry. Tony, Rusty and the rest of the crew at All Aspects are amazing. We had flooding in the finished basement of our newly purchased home after a rainy summer/fall (2011) in DC. I researched and called a number of waterproofing companies and was most impressed with how thorough and no pressure Tony Caputo with All Aspects was. And for those who want to skip to the end ? we are now proud owners of a dry basement. Now for the saga: Initially, after a few quick summer storms, we only had water coming in from a corner in our basement. When we reached out to All Aspects, Tony spoke to us at length about our options. He had no difficulty clearly explaining things that we didn't understand as first time homeowners. We discussed an interior water proofing system as well as what we could do on the exterior. We opted to do the less intrusive exterior option hoping that it would solve our problems. We scheduled them for a week later to install a french drain on the section of my house where water was coming in. They showed up after I had left for work and were done before I got home, digging down to my basement coating walls and backfilling all in 9 hours. Pictures of the work were emailed to me the next day. Unfortunately the corner was not our only problem. Shortly after they finished the exterior work a series heavy rains rolled through. We had water coming up from under the basement floor through a crack in the slab. We realized that we would need a complete interior drainage system installed. Without question we again contacted Tony. Tony understood our frustrations and assured us we would be able to fix this. It was comforting at a very stressful time. He again came over to discuss options with me and even came back a second time to go over everything with both me and my wife -- his iPad full of pictures he clearly explained and showed how All Aspects would waterproof the interior of our basement showing previous homes that had similar problems. Even more unfortunately, while doing the exterior work the All Aspects team found out that the addition of our house did not have a proper footer to support the interior work that we needed. Tony explained we would have to underpin that section to complete the interior drainage system. After a failed attempt to hire the original structural engineer for our house, Tony recommended a structural engineer, Nader Elhajj, that he had worked with before. Nader was extremely friendly and fit is us in the next day. Together with Rusty, Tony and Nader we developed a plan on how to underpin this section of my house and we were ready to start. Rusty, the onsite forman, was awesome, I checked in with him most mornings and he was happy to go over the status of the job and how everything was going. He took pictures the entire time and had them ready for me when the job was done. They kept our basement as clean as possible and even taped up all our vents, something I hadn't thought of. They were finished in about 6 days, which seems pretty incredible considering the amount of work they had to do. The best part of it all ? we haven't had water in our basement since! Tony and Rusty both called me shortly after we had a couple more rain storms to check to see how the basement held up. I was happy to tell them there were no problems. I would call All Aspects again in a heartbeat if I ever have any problems in a future house as this one I am happy to say is dry thanks to them.
Description of Work: Installed a partial french drain on the exterior of the house as well as cleaned and sealed below grade exterior wall.Installed a complete interior drainage system (112ft) with Miradrain wall system leading to sump pump and underpinned a 35 foot section of the basement. Installed 2 window well units that tie into the interior system and re-poured basement slab.

A couple of weeks ago the Washington DC area experienced heavy rains and a tornado or two. I lost power to my house and the back up component pump to my sump pump did not activate. My basement flooded with about 4-5 inches of water. I did not know whether there was something wrong with the pump or the back up battery that is supposed to power the pump in case of a loss of power to the house. I asked All Aspects Waterproofing (AAW) to come out and assess the situation. The technician from AAW was extremely professional and had excellent knowledge of sump pumps and basement waterproofing. It was obvious he was an expert in these areas. Within 30 minutes, he was able to tell me exactly what was wrong with the pump. I had another company take a look at the pump and they told me that I needed to replace the pump and possibly the battery, which would have cost hundreds of dollars. AAW tested the pump and the battery and told me that there was nothing wrong with either of them and that the pump just needed to be cleaned out. They cleaned and flushed the pump and tested it and now it works perfectly. AAW properly dignaosed the problem with my sump pump, corrected the problem and saved me hundreds of dollars in the process! I will not call or recommend any company other than All Aspects Waterproofing when it comes to my sump pump and basement waterproofing!!

Extremely well. Clarence Woods examined all aspects of drainage and leakage circumstances at the house, explained why improving exterior drainage would be an inadequate solution, and showed me an ipad video that illustrated how a french drain works. The quote was very comlpetitive. Communication was excellent throughout the process. Workers were punctual, polite and helpful in moving a few awkward items from the workspace that we could not reposition before their arrival. Work results were clean and attractive. Clean-up after the job was excellent. It has rained twice since the work was completed and so far there has been no leakage.
Description of Work: Diagnosed sources of multiple basement leakages in an old house in northwest Washington, DC (zip 20015), installed 120 feet of french drains along all four basement walls, installed two sump pumps with battery back-up, replaced laundry sink, and removed severe mold accumulation due to basement humidity.

Excellent experience. Turns out that the leak was coming from entry for electrical wires (yikes!). Jeff (inspector) reviewed the problem and told me what steps to take to ensure that gutter draining was extended from base of house. He also explained next steps to take if problem became worse. He included a spray for mold remediation and then didn't charge for the visit! I felt as if I'd was in some parallel universe. That kind of service just didn't exist anymore. This company is fantastic! I would use them again in a heartbeat and highly recommend them to anyone. You won't have to worry about being ripped off....just the opposite. Great. Great. Great.

My husband took off work the first day to wait for them and they called to cancel because their truck broke down. The next day they showed up and wanted the money immediately after the work had been completed without giving my husband time to check over the work. My husband declined and they agreed to wait to collect until after my husband was able to check their work, which was a good thing because they didn't do the work right the first time and had to come out and fix it. They said it was going to be a three day job in the contract and did it all in a single day, which makes me feel like it was a rushed job.

As my husband, who is proud to be a 50 year member of the bricklayers union, said "they did an f'in great job!." Most of the basements in our neighborhood are damp if not regular lakes during rainy times. Although the sum pumps kept ours from the latter, we decided it was time to make it dry. For half the money we could have upgraded our pumps and installed the outside drain, but Rob, the person who did the estimate, convinced me that the lifetime warranty that goes with the full trenching package was worth the extra investment. The crew showed up early on our scheduled start work day. great! Wait....30 minutes into the job they discover as they begin jack hammering away at the foundation that my house is sitting on a swamp. I can see it. So, they have to stop work and call in their engineers to take a look. I'm waiting for a call to tell me either they can't do the job, or they can and it is going to cost......imagine my surprise when within 24 hours I get the call that there are problems they hadn't anticipated, but they are confident they can do the work and deliver a guarantee on a dry basement. Wow. Three days later I'm doing the walk through. The basement is cleaner than what they started with. The concrete work is exceptional. The two new pumps, with covers, are humming away. The crew is being responsive to all of our questions and requests. And most importantly, the basement is dry. On our own we did have to hire an electrician to install two new outlets for the pumps at a cost of roughly $300. And we chose to purchase a commercial dehumidifier with a sensor at a cost of 1,110. So the total cost ended up being about 10k. What did we gain? I'm not worrying about flood, mold, damage to foundation, etc. We've interfaced with a lot of trades people many of whom disappoint, mostly because they don't seem to care or take pride in their work. These folks from beginning to end actually seem to care. They cared enough to be on time. They cared enough to tell us when there were problems. They cared enough to stay in communication (got quick responses to all my e-mails and calls). They cared enough to follow-up and see if there was anything they could do better. So thank you to everyone on the crew.
Description of Work: The perimeter of our 25'x30' basement was trenched and a 120' AAW Miradrain WallSystem was installed. This involved removing a roughly 12" wide and 12" deep area of concrete from the perimeter, installing a drain pipe, covering that with crush stone, installing a plastic mesh on the knee wall, and then finishing by replacing concrete floor (hope I've described this accurately!). Two new heavy duty submersible pumps were installed to pump out water collected in new drain pipes. An old pump was re-located to replace an outdoor pump. Outside the basement door a 9"x9" box drain was installed and a concrete threshold created.

Our basement is below grade along one full side and two half-sides, and opens to the back yard on the 4th side. We have had problems with water leaking into the basement since we bought the house in 1990. Every heavy rain resulted in water. My husband and son tried to rectify the situation five years ago on the outside of the house by putting in drainage connected to the gutters, downspouts, and out to the street through the front yard. They did a fabulous job. HOWEVER, when March 10, 2011 hit, with the heaviest rains in Baltimore's recorded history, our house was practically floating! It took four people with 3 wet vacs and a hand-held portable sump pump to keep up with the inflow of water along the front side. If we had lost electricity, the entire downstairs would have been flooded. Unfortunately, thinking that we would never have leaking again after the outside job they did, we had decided to do something radical. In 2010, we had masons come in and build a brick wall -- real brick, not facing -- all along the interior wall of the basement. We were finally doing a bang-up job of finishing the big room, with beautiful low-pile carpet, exposed brick wall, fireplace, etc. It looked GREAT. But then, as I said above, March 10, 2011 came and we knew that we had to get the basement waterproofed. If you're still reading this, and if you're smart, you realize the dilemma we were in!!! WHAT IDIOTS WE WERE, NOT TO DO THE WATERPROOFING BEFORE HAVING THE BEAUTIFUL BRICK WALL BUILT!!! So.... we had a couple of waterproofing companies come in and do half-a** jobs of estimates, assuring us that they could figure out how to French drain behind the EXPENSIVE brick wall without having it all cave in. But they were hard-sell and obnoxious companies. I then joined Angie's List, looked up those turkey companies, and saw that they had grades like B's and C's, SOME D'S!!! THEN I read about All Aspects!!! We called them immediately. A guy named Diego (we love him) came out. He and my husband literally spent HOURS over the course of several days, trying to figure out how to put the French drain in without having the wall cave in. My husband is an architect and builder, so he drew what he thought would work, and Diego drew what HE thought would work, and finally they hit upon a plan. All Aspects did the work! They are immaculate!!! They keep the space spotless while they work, then leave it spotless when they leave! It worked!!! We've had a couple of heavy, heavy rains since then. No water! We love All Aspects and would recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: I wrote about this last year. All Aspects deserve A+++++ for the attention to detail, the LACK of a hard-sell approach, and their overall professionalism. We had a terribly complicated waterproofing situation . I will tell the story below!

All Aspects recently excavated and resealed the exterior foundation on two sides of our house. Overall, we were very pleased with the experience. The two things that most impressed us was the quality of their crew (very detail-oriented) and how neat they left the property after the job. I was very thankful at how well they cleaned up the site and regraded around the house. This was not an easy decision for us in figuring out what work was needed (many different estimates) and who to trust to have it done, but we are very pleased with the results so far.

We had a great experience with All Aspects Waterproofing. We were moving some boxes in the basement closet and discovered what we suspected and actually turned out to be mold. YIKES! After the initial panic moment we called around to several waterproofing companies for estimates. The call center at All Aspects was great, getting detailed information and scheduling an appointment right away. Also were great with reminders. Jeff came out to do the inspection - he even called to see if he could come early since it was a Friday and we all wanted to start our weekend. Jeff thoroughly explained that our mold wasn't anything to worry about, suggested products to clean it up our selves as well as suggested things we could do economically in the back yard to improve drainage and water flow. He was very honest and took the time to educate us on the situation. He even warned us about other people who may claim we needed big work done when in fact it's an easy fix. Sure enough, a couple of the other companies who came did in fact suggest huge jobs. I would definitely use All Aspects if I ever do have a "big" problem.

My experience with them was very good.? I really liked them very much.? I don?t think a lot of waterproofing companies would have done the mould remediation.? I would use them again in the future.
Description of Work: I used All Aspects Waterproofing for inside and outside drainage. They also did mould remediation and dug an outside ditch for my drain spouts.

Steve Maney from All Aspects Waterproofing provided me an estimate for the installation of a submersible pump, french drain, three window well taps, and a new stairwell drain. He was courteous, clearly explained the procedure for installing the system, and even returned to provide examples and a comprehensive package of some of their work later in the day. At the end, I was deciding between All Aspects Waterproofing and Triad Basement Waterproofing. Though Triad would have been able to start the job sooner (March 28th vs. April 2nd), All Aspects was able to provide a more competitive price and set of services overall (their price with window well taps was less than Triad's without). After signing the contract, my installation date was moved however the company was able to change the install date back to the originally planned date after I explained the impact the new date would have on the other projects taking place in my home. The project went off without a hitch. The crew leader for my project was Evail Monroy. He and his team were extremely efficient and took the time to explain any parts of the project about which I had questions. Also, though I had been warned they might need to destroy a custom built-in cabinet in the basement in order to install the system, Evail's team was able to remove the complete cabinet without any damage prior to the installation. They had similar regard for the window well covers which were somewhat old and I suspected would fall apart when removed. Happily, the team was able to remove and replace the covers without any issues. ======================= UPDATE: I've now had the system in place for a few weeks. The area in my yard where the pump is discharging has become something of a swamp. I called All Aspects to see if they could resolve the issue. They are willing to extend the line to an area where it would leave the yard without issues for an additional $500. Their typical discharge length is 6 feet from the home and mine was already run an additional 5 feet when installed, so I see how they feel they've met their contractual service obligation. I'm thinking over this offer as I research other options. A note to others who have large backyards: when you have your system installed, think carefully about where All Aspects will be discharging your water. You may want to see how much they will charge you to run the line further before purchasing the system. You'll likely get a better deal when they're trying to close on the sale or still on site.

Another contractor had recently removed mold from my basement. As part of the process, the contractor cut out an area of drywall under my well window that appeared to be where the water came from. (I had hoped I resolved the water issue by installing a special sized well cover that fit much better than the prior one and installing another flexible gutter extension to divert the water further from my house.) The contractor said to hold off replacing the drywall and check the wall periodically to see if I get any more water. On a very heavy rain, I could see more water coming in at the exposed area. I felt it was time to call a water proofing company. I know water proofing can be expensive so I checked Angie's List and found that All Aspects Waterproofing received many excellent reviews. I called the company and Jeff Basham came over and was extremely helpful! He said that the problem is with my well window. Some of the wood had rotted which caused water to seep in. He advised replacing the window and told me what to tell the window company about sealing the window and installing it properly. Jeff also showed me areas where water was forcing its way into the dirt in the well. Jeff advised getting a handyman to remove between 6" - 12" of dirt and replace it with flat river stones for better drainage. The stones currently in the well are round and don't cover enough of the surface area. Some companies could have submitted proposals to regrade my soil, water proof my walls, install drains or pumps, reinstall the well, or other solutions, but Jeff Basham with All Aspects Waterproofing was very honest about what was needed for my home. I was impressed with All Aspects Waterproofing's integrity, honestly and knowledge. All Aspects Waterproofing is the kind of company I believe other Angie's List members would want to use!!
