Description of Work: In need of emergency air conditioning repair in the peak heat of summer. Brian responded immediately, effectively, and affordable. I was a new customer, he was busy with his regular clientele, he squeezed us in. I'm now one of those loyal repeat customers. See you next summer Brian.

It went well. He is good with tight budgets and I would use him again.
Description of Work: Our upstairs A/C stopped working and Brian came out on the same day we called him. He figured out the problem with the air handler in the attic and checked the freon.

He did a very good job. In fact he saved us a tremendous amount of money. I had told him that there was a problem here in summer time. That the house looks more humid than it should be. My mother has health issues. She needs high efficiency air circulation. And in winter she needs more fire to raise the humidity in the air, otherwise she has nose bleeding. When we realized that the system needed to be replaced, I was worried about the money and I also wanted the right thing. Brian called me one day and asked me when I could meet him at my mother?s house. I gave him some time and he told me to be there half hour forty minutes early because he wanted to show me some numbers. He said that the problem with my mother?s air condition was that the previous owner had put the system which was too big. Because it was too big, it?s was not running long enough. It was not letting the humidity out of the air. Apparently with air conditioning you want it to be big enough but you don?t want it to be enormous; because if it?s enormous, in running for a shorter period of time the temperature drops but it doesn?t get the humidity out of the air. So he probably saved us the system that was actually proper for the house, as we needed a small system. He also gave me different options for humidification which has been very good. But the one he has helped us out with has worked very well. My mother no longer gets the nose bleeding. He also has been good about helping us figure out what other options would help heat and cool the house better. He also taught me how to adjust the temperature. This house is new and the other house is forty years old. He taught me about adjusting the system, so that we get better and more even heating and cooling. It didn?t cost us any money but he has given us better service out of what we had. I?m very pleased with Brian?s service. He comes when he says he will come. He charges a fair price. He is not the cheapest guy in town. But he charges a fair price. Some people give you the price and then give add-ons, he doesn?t do that. I specially like the fact that he has given me benefits of his real experience in the heating and cooling field. My mother had three stokes, so having the house heated and cooled was really important. He has helped us a lot. We have been able to save money. We have a filter and he helped us pick out. There?s dust in the house so her allergies are less problematic. What they do is for high efficiency they put heat pump and gas furnace for backup. The new heat pumps are more efficient than the old ones. I was very skeptical because we were in the house in the seventies, and it had heat pump which was awful. I just had visions of mother being cold all the time. Brian said that if I really phoned him, I would save so much money, if I used heat pump when it isn?t too cold for heat. He sold us a little computerized stat that I could set it when I wasn?t here. Not only does it set the time and humidity level I could also set it so that when it goes below a certain temperature outside, when the heat pump becomes less efficient the gas furnace automatically comes on. And I could change that depending on the weather conditions and all that been just great. There is other thing that I forgot to tell you about insulation. Brian doesn?t do insulation. When he tried to assess and give my mother a good heating and cooling, it?s almost two years now. He told me at that time to get insulation done before I got a new system. He had list of the areas to be insulated. He told me that it would not save me money in terms of heat but my mother would be more comfortable. The couple of areas that we were loosing heat were the areas she spent a lot of time in. Again the difference is amazing. The area to be insulated was the attic and my brothers were opposed to it. I got the attic insulated on Brian?s suggestion. I liked the service so much that after my mother?s replacement, Brian did mine last year. Like I said he is not the absolute cheapest guy in town. He will look into and give you the cheapest price. He can?t compete with the guys who have twenty five trucks and fifteen boys. But when I get Brian to do the work, I get little benefit from it. I normally get good equipment and a fair price. He is very good about maintaining it. He is good about teaching me what I can do. He taught me to clean the humid fire and he included it in the price and we went over it together. That does not sound like a big deal. I guarantee you that if I tried doing it from the book, I wouldn?t have done it. I find that when it comes to service call, he takes into consideration if somebody has got a problem. If he is supposed to do a job that is routine replacement of something and its winter and the heat is out or its summer, and the person calling is elderly, he would ask if he could come late as there is an elderly person who needed assistance. I think that?s not wrong as he goes and takes care of that. That means a lot to me. He has gives good price, is reliable and gives reliable equipments. He gives good options in terms of heating and cooling. When he did it in my house, he reassessed how much heating and cooling I needed, and he told me one of the things I could do. He gave me several options. But one of the options was that we could change the way one of the ducts was run. I have an unfinished room for furnace he showed me. He told me that if we changed how one of the ducts worked, the upstairs would get better air-conditioning in summer with the unit that was not bigger. When the house was built they did something with the bents and the ducts should have been straight. He didn?t say I had to fix it. He said if I did it I would be happier. It has been beneficial. No one usually does the duct work. He did some additional work too. What I paid, I know it sounds like a lot of money. One of the other things he did was put new hot water tank for me. I will have the option of using it as a water tank and a boiler. I have two rooms that don?t get enough heat and I feel it wasn?t worth reducting. Instead, we could also run a hot water base into those two rooms which is kind of a neat option. I was very happy. I know if I have a problem Brian will fix it and if I have a question, he will answer that. He is overall excellent. I wouldn?t say he is perfect but he has been so good about helping. He gave me good price and equipment and helped me taking care of things. For me that is a big deal, as I?m responsible for both the house. He is reliable. What I value about him is that, if I came with an idea and told him that I wanted to do it and if he felt it was bad, at some point he will tell me that with the reasons. I?m not sure if he would do it. I have a friend and she had a little porch in the office. She wanted a little unit to heat and cools it. The one that she picked, Brian told her that it was a bad unit and they were not lasting as long it should. He showed her a comfortable unit but told her frankly that the manufacturer for the better unit was back order and would take several months. He told her that in the long run she would be happier because he had not seen units lasting longer than five years. But the money that she was paying for five years was not longer. He said that he had seen it breakdown in three or four years. He called and told me that my friend was upset but he would not put that crummy unit because she would hate him for that. He is really nice and I like him. I will continue using his service in the future.
Description of Work: I use Brian's Heating and Air Conditioning. He was here three months ago. He has done maintenance, repair and replacement of my mothers heating and cooling system with a high efficiency heat pump and gas furnace.
