They missed a key element -- crumbling brick due to incorrect exterior paint. A mason found it.

Description of Work: Did a very thorough home inspection. Before he left he showed me pictures of areas needing correction and the written report I received the same evening included all he had shown me.

Jack was involved in an external assessment of the property to be inspected when I arrived (and I arrived early), getting an overview of roof lines, and with what I could tell was a practiced eye, was checking out the property from curbside. When the inspection officially began, he was very thorough, started with the roof, did a closer examination on the exterior and then we went inside. Again, he was meticulous. Although this was a new home for me in the Maryland area, it was not a new home for me as I had had three previous. Consequently, I knew what he would/should be checking. There was not a scratch that he didn't note and comment on as I followed him and periodically asked questions. He was receptive to those and that made the inspection process even more thorough. Where he really contributed to what needed to be done was when he entered and maneuvered his way around the crawlspace. He missed nothing and noted a lot of instances where sheeting or insulation was not put back, and an air duct had dropped to the ground and been left there. After the inspection was complete, he went over his photos, further explained his observations in each area of the home, and with that, I felt my money was more than well spent. I would recommend him highly. He is definitely in the top-tier of any inspectors or inspection services I have worked with.

The home inspector seem very nice and friendly when we met him. He assured us that he worked for us and not the seller. As a first time home owner we was pleased to here this. The home inspector came out several times to check on things that had to be corrected and did what we assumed was a good job. He found several things wrong and yes they were corrected. He found what he believed was mold in the attic and it was addressed. We had asked for a mold test to be done and was assured that it would be. Of course it was not done. About a month into owning the house we discoverd my sons room was not getting air from the HVAC system. I went under to investigate and found that the duct word had falling down and was not suppling air to his room. This was an itemon his report that was noted. This item was never repaired but was signed off on as if it was. Along with this issue we would electrical wires running inside out returns in the wall and water pipes running through the duct work as well. Recently we realized and abundance of moisture on the windows due to supply and return duct work being crossed. This was not brought to our attention. The extra moisture has the potential to create mold. Also recently I replaced the filter in the air handler to find a hole in my duct work so big that I could crawl up into in with out any issue. Not only was this stuff not documented or brought to our attention but also refused to test the heating portion of the HVAC. I have been told by other indursty related workers that it should have been tested regardless. So overall I would say my experience was not a good one and feel I was somewhat taken advantage of for being a first time home owner. I will provide picture in the days to come.

Jack was early for the inspection and had already begun the inspection on the outside of the house. Went inside and he began his inspection. using a digital camera he took pictures of the entire house and up loaded them to a laptop giving description about everything in the house. Everything was tested Fridge, ice maker, stove, oven microwave, faucets, showers, all electrical outlets. The gas was not turned on at the time of inspection so he came back the next day to check the water heater, furnace and gas fireplace at no additional cost. Jack was extremely helpful. At the same time another company was trying to do the septic inspection (Chesapeake Exterminators). That man took 3 hours and could not find the Septic system and eventually gave up. Jack was kind enough to recommended Accurate Environmental. They found the septic immediately and did a fantastic job a few days later. I was totally satisfied with Taylor Associates and the job that they did.

Jack arrived early with his laptop, which guided him through the inspection in great detail. He entered his conclusions as he went along, explaining whatever we asked questions on. He produced an 18 page report with a separate section on what he recommended we request be fixed before settlement. Jack was friendly and very informative on the house and its features.
