We could not have asked for a better contractor on this project. We were very skeptical of Brian's estimate that it would take two months for the project, but he nailed it. Brian was on-site almost every day, both directing his team and doing much of the framing and finishing work himself. We felt like our project was his top priority from start to finish. Brian is meticulous and clean - every tool/material was hung up and organized when not in use, and there was never any sign of dust or debris when he left for the day. Any time we needed to change something, Brian quickly provided an estimate and fit the work into the schedule. Finally, Brian is honest and kind. He joked with our kids, he played with our dog, and gave us his honest opinion when he thought we could make a better choice on materials or fixtures. We will absolutely be calling Brian again for our next project.

Brian is amazing. We worked with him for the whole process, from early planning to completion and it was so painless and even enjoyable. Brian is incredibly responsive and reliable and went out if his way to keep us informed. He is a perfectionist and the final product is more beautiful than I ever imagined. We have had several neighbors stop and compliment the addition, saying it looks like it's always been a part of the house. We could not be happier!

He has an impeccable attention to detail, and went above and beyond our expectations. We contracted to have a roof constructed over our existing deck along with 2 side patios and a fire pit. Throughout the process he was there to answer any questions, provide suggestions on changes, and give detailed information through the entire process. The work was completed within the given time frame and everyone involved on the job was pleasant, helpful and respectful of our property and pets. The entire project turned out beautifully and we would definitely contact him again with future home improvements.

Amazing! Brian Flick's attention to detail in his craftsmanship and project management, from the first time we met till the job was completed (on time and on budget!), was extraordinary. We've had lots of work done by lots of companies, but Wenkat Design was by FAR the best! Brian offered great suggestions that we would have never thought about . . . and everyday before he left, he made sure the work site (from demo to done!) was extremely clean and very organized for the next day's work. Our family missed having him around when the work was done - such a pleasure.

We hired Brian to help us design, plan for, and build our custom home. Brian exceeded our expectations throughout the entire process. Not only is he incredibly meticulous with details, timelines, and communication, he also lives into meeting or exceeding those expectations. The quality of team members and subcontractors he works with were well-orchestrated, professional, and equally meticulous. Beyond our perceived high level of quality craftsmanship, we have had countless neighbors, past clients, and even inspectors, highlight and call out the quality of Brian's craftsmanship and professionalism. Building a house - or taking on a smaller project - is a long process. We are incredibly grateful for the time and attention Brian provided in building our home.

Our Master Bath was transformed from “Blah” to “Spa” after we hired Wenkat Design and Construction to remodel and update a cramped, outdated bathroom. Brian did his design magic and came up with an idea to add much needed floor space by bumping out a small section of wall into the adjoining bedroom. The work included installing a new toilet, sink, plumbing and lighting fixtures, a ceiling ventilation fan, tile floor, a custom-built tiled shower with a storage alcove, a tiled half wall and frameless glass shower doors. I have included “before” and “after” photos. We highly recommend Brian and his company and look forward to using him again for future projects.

If I could give an A+ rating in all above categories, I would do so. Our rough, ugly unfinished lower level laundry area was transformed into an inviting, functional space and, at the same time, our 1970's bathroom was remodeled and updated with new fixtures, a recessed medicine cabinet, lighting and tile flooring. The owner, Brian was great to work with. He not only designed these projects to accommodate my specific needs and wants, but also had the vision and design skills to make suggestions that maximized the storage and layout to fully utilize every inch of available space. He added a storage alcove and pegboard wall for cleaning and ironing supplies, built a closet to hide the heating unit, and designed and installed a storage wall of upper and lower wood cabinets with a countertop and clothes hanging rod. We are completely satisfied with the quality of the finished work in both areas and appreciated Brian's neatness and respect for our home. He used protective cloths over our floors, and cleaned up construction dust and debris daily. I never expected to enjoy the entire design and renovation process, but I did. Wenkat's owner was reliable, organized and made optimal use of time so the project was completed on time. We will enjoy these renovations for years to come.

Very well both times, on schedule and on budget once we agreed on final pricing. I have beautiful and beautifully functional bathroom and kitchen in my small house thanks to Wenkat/Brian Flick. I can’t imagine hiring anyone else to do any important projects on my house. On both projects I found Brian to extremely accurate in his overall assessment of the job, cost estimates, and in describing what unknowns may pop up when gutting a kitchen or bathroom and what those potential problems may mean in terms of time and cost, so I could be mentally (and financially) prepared ahead of time. You can’t know everything till you get in there, but Brian has the experience to provide realistic scenarios. I had no major surprises with either job, and the unknowns were always less than what Brian said might happen, which I appreciated. I’d rather know ahead of time that if the subfloor is rotted, or there is mold inside the bathroom wall, it will cost X more in time and money, and then NOT have that issue, than have it be the other way around. Wenkat is not cheap. But there are good reasons for that and for which I am willing to pay, and with both jobs I felt I absolutely got my money’s worth in quality, timeliness, service, attention to detail, respect for my wishes, and excellent communication. Specifically: 1. He works only your job so is there every day, on time, fully dedicated to your project. If there is down time/ waiting time during your job, he communicates that and will let you know if he is going to do any work for another client during that down time. 2. His commitment to the highest quality is unwavering, for both the big and small things. But he also doesn’t confuse quality with expense....Brian was very smart about saving money without impacting quality wherever possible. If you want quality workmanship and someone who knows how to do it correctly, go with Wenkat. He also follows up promptly on any problems after the job is finished, standing behind his commitment to the job being done right. 3. He actually listens, and works to truly understand what his clients want. He provides feedback and professional opinions, but also understands that each person has specific likes/dislikes, needs, etc. And - no small thing and something I think many women working with contractors will appreciate - Brian treated me almost exactly the same as he treated my male partner, with one exception-he knew that I WAS THE CLIENT, so I was the one he took direction from and and engaged with about the job, unless I specifically directed him to discuss something with my partner. How often do women disappear to contractors (and others) as soon as a man walks into the room? That was never my experience with Brian. 4. Brian is very good at communication. He is articulate, personable, very knowledgeable, and as noted above he also listens. He responds quickly and with details to email, text, phone. And he is very, very reliable. 5. Brian walked me through every step of both projects, and went shopping with me for fixtures, tile, appliances, granite, etc. to help me understand what would and would not work and to help me decide on design. I need that help and he is more than happy to do it. In those instances where I knew for sure what I wanted without his help, he respected my decision (or very nicely let me know why it might be a mistake, and walked me through alternatives that could work....). 6. One of my favorite “small” things about Brian - he is neat! He cleans up thoroughly every day at the end of the day. Not a nail or staple or scrap of insulation is to be found in the wrong place. And he doesn’t break things in the house. Five years after Brian completed my kitchen it looks and functions as if it’s brand new. Yes I take care of it but the workmanship is great. He just completed the bathroom in February but I anticipate the same long-term results. The tile work is gorgeous and the crazy crooked angles resulting from the house settling over 70 years are all fixed now - at least in the bathroom.

Wenkat Designs and Construction completed an entire bathroom remodel for us. Brian was amazing from designing and guiding the plans to completing the project. He was professional, courteous, and focused on creating a space for us that was functional, efficient, and modern! Communication was excellent! The quality of work is second to none. Brian is a perfectionist and that is what you want from your contractor! Not only was Brian efficient with his work, but he kept the work space clean from dust, etc prior to departing each night. I couldn't speak more highly of the quality of work and of the company. I highly recommend Brian at Wenkat for any project in your home. You will not be disappointed! The bathroom continues to be my favorite room in the house and we can't wait to hire Wenkat to remodel our master bathroom next year! Prices are extremely fair and reasonable!

Brian was very conscientious in every way, and was here every day or let me know ahead of time if he needed to switch a day or wouldn't be here-- the work was finished in the exact time frame he gave, and he cleaned up every day before leaving. His attention to detail was awesome. As with any major renovation, there were a few unexpected things uncovered after walls came down and such, but he showed me and explained the concerns and did not add on unecessary costs or do anything without letting me know first. He was very fair and had excellent ideas, and came highly recommended-- rightly so. I love my beautiful new kitchen!

Able to put in a tub with thoughtful shelving, walk-in shower, sink and toilet. Creative use of floor-heating and glass made the space comfortable and light.

The work started on the date planned. Plumbing work was difficult but contractor was able to find a way to run all new lines with minimal disruption to rest of house. Contractor assisted with design of the new bathroom and suggested excellent suppliers for tile. We have an old craftsman bungalow and the contractor integrated the design into the house perfectly. Detail work such as matching the existing crown molding and exterior finish work was excellent. Project was finished on time and on budget. We could not be happier with how this renovation turned out.

Work started when expected, and the schedule was adjusted for some bad weather, and progressed at a rapid pace and completed very near the date expected. Some minor adjustments were made to the design to address Baltimore County code requirements that were not clear by that office at the time the initial design was submitted for the permit. These changes were handled, and work completed and in compliance. Overall, I was very pleased with the final results.

We have never had a bad experience and have used Brian and Wenkat almost exclusively as we have brought our 1920'shouse into the 21st century. Brian is detailed and precise with estimates, andwe have never seen a cost that we didn’t know was coming. As we have done projects over the years, he has additionally always steered us in the right direction as to where to spend our money to maximize the investment. Walking the line between buying items at Home Depot, to fancy custom items, Brian has always made us feel like he was treating our house and our capital like he would his own, and that we were buying the right product, not just the cheapest or the most expensive brand name. Always on time. Always gets back to you. Always him on the job. Our dogs were sad not to see him when the job was done.

Wenkat Design built my addition seven years ago and I would have no other contractor do extensive work in my home. I'm a builder?s daughter and know when I'm getting quality work. Brian Flick does quality work. He is honest, professional and courteous. He lets you know what will work and what won't work. He makes sure the job you want him to do is done right. He worked closely with me during every phase of the project from conception to design, and through working and completion. Every morning he let me know what he was going to work on that day and gave me a re-cap every evening. As with most 55-year old homes there were hidden problems behind the wall boards. Brian analyzed the problem, applied the right solution and still managed to complete the job on time. The final product was absolutely amazing. All sub-contractors Brian uses abide by the same code of standards and ethics as Brian, which means the high same high quality of work. None better!

Wenkat Design has done many home improvement projects for us during the past 8 years. The projects have included a bedroom/bath addition, custom windows, new cabinetry in the kitchen, screened-in porch, deck, custom wainscoting, and beautiful built-ins. Each project was done with expertise, professionalism, and excellence. Brian (the owner) is always on time and each project was completed in the agreed amount of time. I highly recommend Wenkat Design if quality workmanship and materials is your goal.

I can't say enough about the owner's (Brian Flick) expertise and professionalism. He has a great talent in designing new projects and is able to give the home owner options so that the finished project is just what, if not better, than the home owner expected. He is very well organized, uses only professional grade materials/products, and works like a man who really loves his job. Even though Brian has only completed smaller scale jobs for me, I would have no doubts hiring him for larger jobs like additions or complete kitchen remodels. His estimates may be on the higher side, but are detailed and accurate. In this business, you get what you pay for. I've been 'low balled' before by other contractors and ended up paying much more than expected before the job was completed. So if you want a great product, and peace of mind that the job will be done right without any shortcuts, Brian is 'your guy'.

Brian Flick at Wenkat was recommended to me by my realtor. He was attentive, very professional, and thorough. He was also able to get the work started on short notice when space opened un in his schedule (I believe another job fell through on permit issues). The bathroom was completely finished very quickly, in only a couple of weeks. He would arrive with his decked-out trailer each morning around 7 am and be hard at work before I was even out of bed! He is probably not the cheapest contractor out there, but his prices seem to be in line with the typical prices I have seen elsewhere. Given the quality of his work, I'd say he's value for money.
