They were on time, friendly and experienced. The gas coil that they replaced failed. So, they came out again very quickly and did it again for us which was great. We had a good experience.

Landers was able to repair my oven in one visit. They were very,very professional. They made the appointment and arrived on time. He looked at the oven and said he knew exactly how to repair it and he did so in a timely manner. Their price was average.

Next day service! Technician arrived exactly when expected (despite a snow storm) and knew the problem within 3 minutes of arrival and I was pleased to find that my worries of a bigger issue were unfounded. Technician was friendly and professional, price was fair, and work was done in no time.
Description of Work: Washer repair on a 3 year old Duet front loading washer. 2 old carpet squarees were put in the wash and the glue and labels had dissolved, filling the water pump with fibers, paper, and gunk. Technician emptied the dirty water and cleared the water pump and tested it to make sure that it had not, in fact burned out.

I thought I had fixed it but then I ended up getting someone within 2 or 3 miles of my house so I didn't use them. They were friendly and the appointment was made within a few days. They have a prompt turnaround time as far as scheduling appointments.

Except for the price (which seemed high for one part and 15 minutes, but that doesn't mean I fell ripped off or anyting) it went well. I'd call them again.
Description of Work: Freezer portion of refrigerator/freezer stopped working. Called in Landers Appliance. Came the next day. Guy knew exactly what was wrong with it (guess it helps them that a entire line of refrigerators have the exact same defect). He had it fixed and out the door in less than 30 minutes.

Called for an appointment & was told that the window was 9am-5pm. I work and even though they would call 1/2 hr ahead, how do service companies expect people to drop whatever they're doing to run home for a service call? Whatever happened to customer service?

On the first day, I paid for a service call on the stove. Did not pay anything for the 2nd trip for the installation. Also had a service call my my washer. He took it apart, and told me it was not worth repairing ($600), and recommended that i use it until it dies. I was having company for the holidays, so I was a little nervous with that advice, but he was pretty positive that it would last. (It did) He gave me 2-3 recommendations to consider for replacing it, and I am following up, researching them on the web. He gave the advice and left - didn't even tell me they sold appliances....so that was a big plus. Will continue to use them!
Description of Work: I had to have parts replaced on my 20+ yr old Jenn-Air. The technician came, diagnosed the problem, and ordered the part. He returned in a week with the part and installed it.

Overall, the process was great- just expensive. So I would use them again, bc even though the price was high for what seemed like minor issues, the ease of implementation and their GREAT flexibility with my schedule and the tech's politeness and patience was worth it. I am regretting that I did not have them order the stove burner part since I still haven't done it. Part of my new year's resolution.
Description of Work: Replaced water filter on fridge water/ice maker unit. I had researched and ordered the incorrect part on my own and gotten frustrated with the online vendor. When other appliances in my kitchen failed/required service, I decided to hire a professional- Landers based on all the positive reviews. They correctly ordered the fridge filter and followed up with me promptly when the part arrived to set an install date and were VERY flexible with accommodating my schedule. Also investigated a blocked top burner on my gas stove that required a new part that I told them I would order bc the service charge for them to just come to the house without providing any labor is very high and is NOT applicable to the final labor/ service rendered. I have yet to order the part. Also investigated a possible burnt bulb in the microwave- he brought the correct bulb with him. The tech very carefully explained to me how I could change the bulb myself when it burnt out again since access to the bulb was hidden in the case of the microwave.

Exemplary service. Mechanic was on time and pleasant. Repair was quick, thorough, and efficient. I have used Lander's before, both for purchasing a drier and for repairing the dishwasher. It would take a lot to have me even consider another appliance retailer or repair firm.

Everything went well. Everyone I dealt with was very friendly, courteous, and helpful. They schedule my repair for the same day that I called them. The technician was VERY quick and courteous. He diagnosed the problem in just a couple of minutes. He had the parts on his truck, and fixed it in just a few more minutes. He also explained to me why it broke, and he fixed the problem to prevent it from happening again. There was a screen over the outside vent, and it got 100% clogged-up and caused my dryer to overheat and burned-up the over-heat sensor. A gave them a "B" for price, because they may not be the cheapest service around, but in this case, I think you get what you pay for - honest, reliable, service.

I liked the fact that that they were local. They could repair and replace. Their staff was very nice else I wouldn't have used them again. I've used them a few times. The stock was probably more limited than going to a store. Their price was good. They were very punctual.

It turned out that the gasket found in the dish washer was not from the dishwasher at all. The service technician understood why I called and the concern I had to start with. I understood that I would have to pay the "service fee" which I had no problem doing so. Though there was actually nothing wrong with the dishwasher, it was worth being safe having this checked out. I called Monday morning and they arrived by lunch the same day. This was outstanding. I will definately use this company again and would recommend them anytime.

I ended up not doing the repair. The cost to fix it was $390. I decided not to have the work done because I did not feel it was worth it. Everyone I dealt with was excellent. They were very organized. They called me ahead of time. The gentleman that came over was very professional. It was a good experience. I would recommend them. They are trustworthy. They have been around for a long time and they know what they are doing.

Jan. 1, 2011 update: Mr. Landers called and apologized to us for the problems we experienced with his company. He was extremely nice and wanted to know what he could do to rectify the situation. He went out of his way to satisfy us, calling us severral times and also called the mfg. regarding the parts required to fix the appliances. His technician has been back out to the house and has resolved the issues with the appliances. We sincerely appreciate how Mr. Landers personally resolved the situation and can say without reservation that we will use his services in the future. Our thanks to him. The Beitels Service person arrived - advised me that he had never experienced the problem with the icemaker but would check back at the office. He proceeded to the cooktop and determined that it required a new part and he would need to order the part. He then took a look at the dishwasher and advised me that it could not be repaired. He then determined that perhaps it could be fixed with two long screws and that he would bring them when he returned with the part for the cooktop. About a week later, the company called and said the part had arrived and we then scheduled a day for the repairs. A different technician came and he said he knew nothing about the issue with the ice maker or the dishwasher. He then went to the cook top and realized that he did not have the right part. He took a picture of the part and said he would order it and when it came in, the office would call to schedule another service call. I have yet to here back from them. We will not use them again.
Description of Work: Jan. 1, 2011: Issues with this company have been resolved to our satisfaction. Service was requested on a cook top, dishwasher and refrigerator ice maker.

The difference between them and the other companies I talked to are that the others would credit that $99.00 toward the repair, but Lander's does not put the $99.00 towards the repair. I called a few other companies and found a lower price as well as. Lander's has been around forever so I really expected a better response from them.

My customer service representatives are trained to ask a lot of questions so that there are no surprises on anyone’s part when the technician arrives. There are some buildings in our service area that require special parking permits, have specific parking rules as well as times of day when service personnel are allowed in the building, restricted elevator use, the laundry equipment is stacked in small closets sitting in a plastic drain pan, etc. We want to be able to identify for our customers any potential issues that could increase repair costs in advance of coming to the house. Because these factors can create a much greater time requirement needed, reducing the amount of time a technician will have to take other service calls helps us in scheduling, trying to avoid delays. We try to capture as much information as is possible at the outset of the call to prevent any unnecessary delays in servicing all of our customers. I’m sorry you were not able to work through the information with my staff. I am sure you would have found our technicians to be professional, efficient, and thorough in their repair efforts. As you commented, we have been around quite a while (almost 30 years) and have established ourselves as the premier appliance service company in the Greater Baltimore area with many awards to validate that fact. You mentioned the service charge not being put toward the repair compared to other companies you spoke to. All of our repair prices come from the Major Appliance Job Rate Guide, the “blue book” in our industry. The repair price from the blue book includes the service/diagnostic charge, labor, part(s), and tax. Other companies may not explain how the final price is determined but the price you would pay my company and the price you would pay them for a repair would end up being very close to if not the same amount. Excellent experience, including follow up. Same day service was a plus. Repairman was completely straightforward about cost of replacing motor in 10 year old washer, and pointed out that, for price, we might want to consider replacing the machine. As the washer model isn't made anymore, and we've been otherwise very happy with operation, we decided to replace motor. We also felt that we would eventually have been driven a little crazy by a mis-matched washer and drier, and would have had to buy a new drier, so that was a consideration, too. Within several days of the repair, the machine seemed imbalanced, and I called for another service visit. The same repairman returned that day and rebalanced the machine, at no charge. Definitely will use Landers again.

I noticed that my refrigerator was not cooling properly so I called Landers late on a Monday afternoon. They set up an appointment window for the following day. I told them I planned to go to work so they said they would have the technician call me approximately 1/2 hour before his arrival at my house and he was actually waiting for me when I arrived. Dave found the problem right away and proceeded to fix it. He was only there for maybe 20 minutes. I've used them several times in the past and have always been very satisfied. I have also purchased large appliances from them which they installed. Also, they do any warrantly service work if purchased from them. The charge I show for this visit includes the service call charge of $80.
