I chose Lander's to repair a leaking water line to the icemaker in my refrigerator. When scheduling the service call, the operator was courteous and scheduled the appointment for the following Saturday. I was dismayed to learn that they add an extra service charge for Saturdays, though I suppose I understand the premium for the weekend, and I was further perturbed that the service window she gave was a not-so-specific 9 AM to 5 PM. However, she recommended that I call the day of in order to receive a more specific time frame. I did so, was told the technician would arrive between 11:30 and 1, and was pleased when he did arrive within that window. The technician was professional and competent. He fixed the water line with a replacement part that I provided. However, I was surprised when he told me that he could not find a reason for the leak. Still, he did the work in a timely manner and I have had no problems since. All-in-all, I was pleased with my experience with Lander's. Despite my problem with their high service charge, I will not hesitate to utilize their business again, as I am willing to pay a premium for a seamless experience and good service.

The service call was $114 plus tax. I had the water line fixed by a plumber and it is not producing ice any faster. I go to sleep at night and it should be full in the morning and there are only 5-10 pieces of ice. I don't know if it is worth another $114 to get another guy to come out and tell me that it is not the icemaker and they can't fix it. The guy was nice and he was cordial. He did identify a problem. It seemed like he should have been able to identify all problems not just a problem. I think for $114 he should have been able to identify any and all problems. I had the water pressure fixed and it is back to the icemaker again. I don?t know if he couldn?t troubleshoot it without the water pressure. I don?t know if it will be $114 for them to come back out. They did come on time and at the time they said they would be there. I would use them again but I would troubleshoot all the problems before I had them out.
Description of Work: I used Landers Appliance to look at the icemaker/water on a refrigerator. They identified that the problem was actually in the house and not the icemaker because it wasn't getting enough water to the line so they didn't actually fix anything.

Dear Member, All it takes is a phone call to our office and we could answer all the questions you raise in this post as well as schedule a free return trip to determine what is going on with your ice maker. I tried to call the cell phone number we have on file (the service call was set up under a different name) and it would not let me leave a message. Our labor guarantee is for 90 days. When we make a repair and the appliance has a problem within the 90 days we will return for free to determine what is going on. This is more thoroughly described on our web site www.LandersAppliance.com. While I appreciate your belief that a professional should know everything about a particular problem, it is simply not realistic. Appliances, especially refrigerator ice makers have many variables including inside and outside temperatures, heat and cold, amount and location of food stored in both sections, water and water pressure, customer use, etc. to impact and alter a problem. Your low water pressure was certainly a problem as I'm sure you are aware. Solving that issue was required and should have resolved the poor performance of the ice maker. The fact that you are still having a low production problem could be related to the temperature control settings. Ice makers are designed to work optimally at 0 F degrees freezer temperature. Ice production is altered any time the freezer section temperature hovers around or above 15 F degrees. Call and speak to any of my customer service rep's and we can schedule our technician Dave to return and figure out what exactly is going on with your unit. The time between finding Landers on Angie's List and having my oven fixed was about 3 hours! I phoned them and explained my problem and was told someone could be there that day. The technician arrived about 45 minutes later (the company called me to let me know he was on his way). Dave Wilhelm was polite, personable and professional. He found the problem within minutes and had the job completed within 20 minutes. This was an extremely positive experience from start to finish and I will definitely contact Landers Appliance in the future for all my appliance repairs.

I tried to get an appointment about a week and a half before I needed it and received the day I wanted, though there was a very large time window for the call (8am to 2pm). I had asked to be first available or early in the day but they would not take the request. They said that they would call when they were a 1/2 hour away so that I could get home from work but the call never came and someone showed up while I was not there at the end of the service window. They rescheduled the next day which was inconvenient but this time I did receive a call. The problem was diagnosed quickly and a part did need to be ordered. The technician told me to request first available and let the company know that he told me to ask for it for the return visit. This time I was given a window of 8-11 which was better. And, the technician arrived at 9 and was finished with the work in less than an hour. It ended up being a positive experience but the beginning did not go well, and the technician was more accommodating than the main office.
Description of Work: My refrigerator was broken and it turns out that the thermostat needed to be replaced.

They were professional and seemed to know what they were doing. They recommended that we get rid of the old dish washer and replace it. They did have a vested interest in selling me a new dishwasher. We just relied on their opinion that it made more sense to replace it than to fix it.

On top of the 'walk in the door' price of $85.00, it would be another $225.00 to order the part, return and repair the dryer. My husband absolutely refused. I went on line to SearsPartsDirect.com, ordered the timer for $67.00 + shipping, and my husband switched out the part in less than 15 minutes. I also found a coupon for 10% off at shopathome.com. The dryer is working like a charm!

Dear member, I have pulled the technicians record from your service call. As is explained to all of our customers by our customer service staff when scheduling a service call, all of our pricing comes from the National Job Rate Price Guide, the Blue Book in our industry. The repair balance was $224.19. That breaks down to $115.32 for the timer + $10.00 shipping + $6.92 tax + $ 91.65 labor. The timer price discrepancy between what you paid and what we charge is not uncommon today. In order to be profitable and stay in business requires that we make a profit on the part. The Internet has allowed customers who are interested in purchasing the part themselves to do so for the same price as I pay as a servicing dealer. I have to mark the price of the part up in order to cover all the expenses involved in handling the parts processes , which are many. The Internet has made this a common occurrence in many industries. You can buy a book on Amazon for far less than you will when going to your local book store such as Borders, Barnes and Noble, etc. I totally agree that it is expensive today to have a fully trained, well paid technician come to your house and provide professional in-home service. Appliances have gotten much more complicated therefore the level of knowledge required today compared to when I started 30 years ago is dramatic. It went very well. The office called to say the technician was on his way. He arrived prepared, did the work, checked to see that the air conditioners were cooling correctly, and left.
Description of Work: I had two window air conditioners that were not functioning well. The young technician arrived on time on the extablished date, quickly checked the machines, made minor adjustments - and waited to make sure the machines were in fact doing the cooling they are supposed to do. He was very polite, and charged only the fixed service fee. I have used Landers to repair my SubZero refrigerator's ice maker, and my ancient Maytag washer. I have always found them quick, competent, clean and very reliable.

Gentleman came out to repair glass on oven door, had difficulty in figuring out which exact parts to order since they are not a Bosch certified dealer. Therefore, unfortunately, Bosch does not seem to be eager to provide these other dealers with any kind of support. The breakdown/schematic for the oven door is not very clear, i.e. there are parts not listed, and unless you really know the product backwards and forwards this puts you at a disadvantage as far as supplying service. A HUGE negative on the part of the manufacturer, Bosch. SO, it was not the appliance repair guy's fault, but had we known in the beginning this was the case, we would have used one of the two appliance repair places for Bosch in the state, and next time we won't buy anything from Bosch.

They didn’t charge me for these additional visits or stove replacements they had attempted to change. They were nice enough to tell me the truth. We have decided to keep this stove and just clean it manually ourselves. They were very nice. They didn’t really fix it, but it wasn’t their fault, but they tried.
Description of Work: I had used this company originally to fix my self cleaning mechanism. They had to come out a couple more times because the circuit had blown and they continued to try to repair it because we were still having the same problem. Finally they were upfront and told me the whole circuitry needed to be replaced in order to fix the stove, which costs about the cost of the stove.

He quickly disassembled the washer, diagnosed the problem and had the part on his service truck. He quickly had the part replaced and, the washer reassembled and a through test completed in about 40 minutes. This tech said he had worked for the company for 16 years I was impressed with his professionalism and he was extremely courteous. I can see why the company would want to keep this guy on their team. Good work.

I made an appointment with Landers for Saturday service, which is more expensive, but it was the only time we were available. The fellow who came out was very personable and professional. He quickly diagnosed the problem and repaired it. The washer has worked fine ever since.

Two technicians from Landers arrived on-time and after a confirmation phone call as promised. Although the dishwasher installed was not installed perfectly straight by these techs, an email reporting the issue was sent and an immediate response and follow up visit occurred. Landers was prompt, clean, professional and remedied an error properly. I will call them again for my next project. The dishwasher is installed and I love Angie's List for providing a a reputable provider as well as an excellent means of voicing concerns and reviews.

Each time they have been to my house, they have been on time. The worker has been concise and clear as to what the problem is and accurate in providing the cost to repair. If a part has to be ordered, they have been accurate providing the date the part would come in. I recommend them highly.

We have always been happy with them. We call them whenever we have a problem with something. They are a local company. Their prices are reasonable. We felt he gave us good advice and didn't just try to fix the refrigerator and charge us $1,200. They have always been honest and that is why we keep calling them. We haven't had any problems.
Description of Work: We use Landers Appliance for our appliance repair. We have used them for the washing machine, refrigerator and microwave over the years. They were here most recently for the refrigerator because the motor was dead. He recommended that we not fix it and just get a new one because the cost would be about the same, which is what we did.

They showed up in the time that they said they would and they were prompt about getting the replacement part back to me and installed. They had it done within a week of diagnosing the problem. The price was a little steep.

OUTSTANDING. Two days before Christmas our washing machine stopped working at the spin cycle. We were having several house guests in for Christmas and needed the washer fixed asap. I called the company (a national chain) who we bought the machine from and they said they could have someone out in about two and a half weeks. So I looked on Angie's list and found Landers. They had someone out to repair the problem within a few hours. The technician also explained to me how I could do a repair myself of a minor problem with our clothes dryer. This company is great - I definitely recommend them and will use them again.
Description of Work: Our washing machine stopped working when it reached the spin cycle. Landers diagnosed the problem quickly and fixed it within 15 minutes.

The callback was prompt, as was the tech on the scheduled day. He quickly assessed both problems, and fixed the washer. He had to order a part for the fridge and return, but was back on the scheduled day and completed the fix quickly. I'm completely satisfied.
