I could not have been more happy with Joe from Lander's. Everything about this service visit was excellent. All communications with the company in scheduling and follow up were excellent. Would not hesitate to use again or recommend to others.

I contacted Landers Appliance and explained the problem over the phone and shared pictures. Dean told me this was something I could fix myself and walked me through what to do, said he could help if needed, but suggested I try it first and save the cost of a service visit. His suggestion worked! I will definitely use Landers if I encounter any future problems I can't deal with myself since I know Dean is a straight shooter who wouldn't take advantage. Thanks, Dean!!

Dear (Member name removed), I have reviewed our notes and spoken to staff concerning your service call. The name on your range is Brentwood which is not a name we recognize and you yourself told us when you placed the service call might be out of business. Our technician came to your house as we promised and thoroughly inspected your range , determining that your thermostat was defective, not sending power to the glow igniter. The model data plate was not located in the usual places and so our tech took the time to disassembly and wrote down all the numbers found on your thermostat so we could research a replacement thermostat. This is the usual procedure when a data plate is not found or has been removed. We were unable to locate any information regarding Brentwood range parts even after contacting three major parts distributors. They were unable to give us any information. When you provides us with the model number my service manager Jim recognized the numbers as being built by Summit. He immediately called Summit and was given the replacement part information which we then called and related to you. The repair balance (you had already paid out service charge for the trip and diagnosis) was quoted as $210.45 which included the part, tax, shipping and labor) Yes, repairs today are expensive. No doubt about it. We did exactly what you contracted us to do in coming to your home and diagnosing the problem and provided you a repair estimate. We have no way of knowing the quality of your appliance, it's retail value, what the problem is or how much the repair is going to be. In your case the repair was about 75% of the retail price of your range making it uneconomical to make the repair. I do appreciate the irritation this news can cause but please note that we did our job as we had told you we would. The repair cost exceeds the value which was determined once we competed our full diagnosis. I fail to grasp what we did wrong that would warrant your demand of our returning the service charge for which we have clearly delivered a full diagnosis and repair estimate. I will follow up with you on the phone on Monday when I return to the office Dean Landers, President. Landers Appliance 410 682-3232 ext 101 or DLanders@LandersAppliance.com

One of my Fischer-Paykel dish drawers seemed "dead"--it had no power--whereas the other attached drawer was working fine. I scheduled the service for two days out and selected the window of 9-1. The repairman arrived about 12:40--It's irritating when the service is completed after the assigned window, but cannot complain-he arrived within the window. I was informed beforehand that the cost of the visit to diagnose the problem would be $119.50. The repairman "Paul" came in and immediately pushed a button that made my dishwasher come back to life--within 5 seconds it was working. I asked "How did you fix it?". He responded that the "lock button" had been inadvertently pushed and he just needed to release it. While he spent 10-15 minutes I guess trying to charge my credit card, I was trying not to beat myself up for the fact that I had just wasted $119.50 for something that I could have fixed myself if I would have only read the manual. After a long period of time he told me your total is $139.50. I said "I thought the total was $119.50" He said "There is $20 labor." I said "You're going to charge me $20 for pushing a button?" He said very condescendingly "I came out and I'm leaving with your problem resolved" He said nothing else--I then waited another 5-10 minutes while he continued to work on my invoice/credit card. I had given him a $10 coupon so my total was $129.50. He asked for my email address so that he could send the receipt which by the way I never received. Before he left, he must have intuited that I was not really pleased and he asked me if there were any other appliances I had questions about. I said no and he left. Bottom line: I have been using Landers since 1993. I usually have had George as my repairman and loved him. I had never had this guy Paul before and even though as he stated, he came and resolved the issue, his attitude towards me left a bad taste in my mouth. I definitely think $119.50 should have been enough to cover 5 seconds of work and travel time. It is definitely not the $20, it's the principle of bad customer relations. Jamie Brilliant UPDATE: This is an updated review ---After seeing my negative post on this site, i was contacted by the owner regarding the "repair" of my Fisher Paykel dishdrawer. He did concur with my view that I should not have bee charged $20 "labor" for pushing a reset button on my dishwasher. He promptly sent me a refund for the $20. I explained to him that my issue was not so much the $20 but the way I was treated upon questioning the labor aspect of the fee. He assured me that the repairman had been counseled. Because the owner is obviously very concerned about his customers, I will be happy to continue to use Landers in the future as I have for the past 20 years.

Dear [member name removed], I read your comments and the notes that Robert wrote in our system and I agree with you. The total should have been $119.95 for our service charge since the repair was really a resetting of the control and part of the diagnosis process. I will send a note to my office manager and have her send you a refund for the $20.00. I'm sorry for the tension you felt with Robert over the dishwasher. If you ever have any question or issue with our service technicians or any aspect of our company please don't hesitate to call me, my service manager Jim or my office manager Mary. Our commitment to our customers is contained in our Mission Statement and every one at Landers Appliance works hard to live up to that statement every day. Have a great day! I called for an appointment on October 9; they promised a service call between 9 and 1 the next day. We received a phone call within that time frame that the technician was on his way (he arrived within 15 minutes). Nice guy, careful, professional, courteous. Had the job finished within 30 minutes. He was very responsive and we were pleased.

I loved Landers. Everyone I spoke with was courteous and informative. We live in an older home and I needed to find a new washer and dryer that would fit through our doorway and fix into our basement area. Landers had a great selection of smaller appliances and the prices were good. The thing that sold me was they do their own installation and have an excellent service department. I had spoke with them about possible repair service for my old dryer ( 19 years old). They were very thorough and answered all my questions.

Dino was efficient, professional, and very honest. He could have just told me that we needed a new track, but instead gave me the option of having a perfectly functional appliance without spending the extra money for a costly repair. He removed a broken spring mechanism on the right track, and it immediately solved the problem. Now all I have to do is defrost the fridge, and it will be virtually as good as new, absent one small part that isn't really necessary. What a relief!
Description of Work: Dino came to look at the freezer drawer of our bottom freezer refrigerator, which was filled with snow. He ascertained that the problem was a broken track keeping the drawer from closing all the way, and said that he could order and install a new track, which would be $200 plus labor, or, since the drawer was closing properly once he removed a broken piece, that we could just as well leave it as is. I really appreciated his honesty.

I tried to contact GE as my appliance was made by them. There online system for scheduling service is messed up. I scheduled an appointment on Monday, September 9, 2013 for an open time slot on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 between 1pm-5pm. I received a confirmation of the appointment's acceptance. By 3pm that Monday, I received a voice mail and email informing me that my appointment would not be honored as the technician was booked for the week. Customer service at GE took the liberty of rescheduling my appointment for Monday, September 16, 2013 and sent me a "thank you" email for rescheduling. I told them I never requested to be rescheduled and informed them that their online scheduling was flawed because it still showed openings for the same week that they were supposedly booked for my zip code. I went Angie's List. Left a voicemail with Landers Appliance requesting service. We were contacted promptly Tuesday morning for an appointment on Wednesday, September 12, 2013 between 1pm-5pm. The customer service from the office was superb. They followed up with us to confirm the appointment. The tech arrived shortly after 1pm. He was courteous, wiped his shoes, in uniform, and very professional. He listed to what I thought the problem was with the dryer. Informed me that there would be a diagnostic fee and that he some parts for my model dryer on the truck. Upon his inspection he found the dryer was in pretty good condition and it just needed cleaning. In the end, all my dryer needed was a little internal cleaning and it runs just as good as it has over last six years. I recommend Landers. They are top notch.

I had a very positive experience with Landers. The technician was professional and arrived within the window provided. I do not recall the exact date or cost of the service, but wanted to share our experience. We moved into a new house and on move-in day, the fridge was not working in the mother-in-law unit. We chose Landers based on Angie's List reviews and were very happy with this company. They were quick to come out, prompt, professional, diagnosed the problem within minutes, had the part needed to replace, and had the fridge working in less than 30 min. The cost was competitive based on internet price shopping. The person who fixed our fridge seemed very knowledgable. I would recommend this company and use them again in the future.

Our Kenmore Side-by-Side Refrigerator/FreezerTuesday July 9 - The technician showed up within the window provided (1 pm to 5 pm). A heads up call was made to notify that he was on his way and he showed up at 2:30. The technician asked some questions and did a brief analysis of the situation and determined that a Defrost Timer needed to be replaced. Within the hour the part was replaced and the unit appeared to be operating properly. The total bill was $232.00 Thursday July 11 - The unit was demonstrating the same problems as before - refrigerator was not cold and freezer items were melting and dripping. We called Landers and they made an appointment for Friday 1-5 PM. Friday July 12 - The technician arrived around 2:30 and ran further diagnostics. It was determined that the Thermostat would have to be replaced. The part was not on the truck nor readily available. The technician asked if he could come back Monday and we said no. We had already taken off two afternoons from work to be here for the repairman.Arrangements were made to have the part installed on Saturday Saturday July 13 - The technician arrived about 9:30 AM and proceeded to install the Thermostat. The unit is working properly. No additional charges were assessed for the part or labor beyond the original $232.00. IF this repair is final, I will be pleased with the service and I appreciate Landers' responsiveness and their desire to folllow up after the first attempt. They are a good honest company and the technician was incredibly professional and respectful, even though the repair took more than one try.

Hi [Member name removed], Thanks for using my company. I'm sorry for the hassle in getting your refrigerator up and running as quickly as possible. I reviewed the technicians diagnostic and repair process and can not find any fault with it. I would have done the same thing as he did based on the test results. As I have said many times before, electronic components sometimes create difficulty in pinpointing a problem. I am glad the unit is up and running well for you now. Dear (member name removed), I totally understand why you would be frustrated and concerned over your repaired LG refrigerator. I have reviewed all the ticket notes and spoken to our service manager concerning this repair and will offer background information you may not be aware of. All of today's energy efficient appliances are controlled by electronic control boards and sensors of all types and varieties along with all the interfacing components such as compressors, motors, switches, displays, etc. These boards and sensors are interdependent. Any electronic control can have an adverse effect on another control board. These boards can also be adversely affected by any of their interfacing components mentioned above. The diagnostic procedure is not cut and dry as was the case with appliances manufactured in days past. In fact, many diagnostic flow charts provided by manufacturers to service companies actually show a progressive list of parts to replace if the problem doesn't get resolved when the first part they recommend is replaced. This is certainly aggravating to everyone involved but is a reality with modern day appliance service and one we deal with every day. Your particular refrigerator is a great example of what I have just described. Based on all of our diagnostic tests and procedures, along with a detailed conversation with an LG engineer, it was determined your main PCB board was defective. After a delay in getting the correct board (which is a problem with some of the off shore manufacturers and their restricted parts distribution system) we returned and installed the main board only to find out that the ice fan motor was defective and probably what caused the main PCB board to fail. We had to order the a new ice fan assembly and returned to replace both parts, finally correcting the problem. I do apologize for the inconvenience and aggravation for the lengthy repair time and for the recall for the freezer light not working after we left your house. We had to return for the freezer light not working because we hadn't screwed the light bulb all the way in when we were putting the refrigerator back together. It was an honest mistake for which we corrected at no charge. Our philosophy is to deliver honest, reasonable and reliable service in everything we do. Sometimes there are situations that are outside our control but for which we have to deal with. I trust you can appreciate the professionalism and follow through we provided in getting your refrigerator fixed. If you ever have a complaint, question, or concern I am available most days as are my service manager Jim and office manager Mary. We really do try to serve our customers and all of your needs. Thanks for the opportunity to respond. Please contact me is you would like to discuss this matter further. Dean Landers, President Landers Appliance, Inc. I own an investment property and the dryer of a stackable washer/dryer stopped working. I scheduled the appointment and asked for a call an hour before the tech arrived as this is my investment property. They called and let me know it would be an hour. They were there in a half hour. Fortunately my renter was at the house, but I specifically told them I could not be there on short notice which is why I wanted the call (which is why I put responsiveness lower). The dryer is in a closet and the tech made it a point to let me know he saved me $75 (approx) because he was able to diagnose the issue without pulling the dryer out of the closet as that was their fee if they have to move appliances. He then spent the next hour testing and determined the problem. I asked if he would be able to fix it. He said no, they had to order the part and would not be able to fix it until the next week and the service call was $100. I probably could have asked more questions about their service, but I assumed they would be able to fix an appliance the same day as that is what people need. I canceled their follow up service and found other means to get the situation fixed. I was very dissapointed with their service as they didn't even try to meet my needs.

Dear [removed member name], I was unable to locate your service record using your last name or address so I am unable to speak to the specifics of your particular service call. I will address some of the basics of our practices you raised in your review. We service a large number of property management companies as well as landlords. We offer a number of options and services to accommodate their particular situations. We try to develop an understanding for what is needed and make notes to be able to consistently provide the same options every time you call. We will honor a customer's request to call an hour in advance and if we show up early and the customer isn't home, we wait until the time frame that was promised. Sometimes by virtue of our schedule for the day the technician can be very close to the next house in their route. It is very difficult to know how long any job will take until we get there. We seldom are able to call an hour before finishing the previous job even though we know we will have to wait upon arriving at the next house because of the close proximity. Our service charge, which is quoted on the phone before you schedule the service call, is a flat fixed fee to come to the house and diagnose the problem with a broken appliance. The appliance has to be accessible in order to diagnose the problem. If a customer has a stackable laundry center in a small closet and we can't access all parts of the dryer in order to determine the problem and have to remove/uninstall the appliance we charge an additional fee as it is not normal and customary. With the growing variety of appliances on the market and the large number of diverse parts used on each brand it is a challenge to carry just the right parts for every appliance we see. We stock a large amount of parts on our service trucks allowing us to be able to repair over 80% of the service calls we go on during the first visit. We do not charge extra if we have to return. You only pay for the labor to make the needed repair, the parts price and the tax, which we quote in advance before any work is performed. It is to our benefit to make every repair we can on the first trip hence why our completion ratio is so high compared to industry standards. If you ever have a question or a problem you can always call and speak to my service manager Jim or myself. We are here to help! I made an appointment on 6/3/13 for 6/6/13 sometime between 9am and 1pm. The technician arrived about 10:15am. It took him about 5 minutes to diagnose the problem (burnt wire in the control panel). He tested the washer and wrote up the bill. He was done and gone by about 10:35am.
Description of Work: The technician repaired my old clothes washer.

I've used Landers Appliance for a number of years. They have different people who come and some are better than others but I continue to use them because of the owner and he's always willing to do anything. The owner is very helpful and he always send out a survey to see what your experience has been. They do try to correct anything that hasn't been satisfactory. He will always take your calls and work with you.
Description of Work: I always use them for my appliance repair. The last time I used them was for installing an oven that I was getting replaced by the manufacturer because of a defective one.

Response from Landers Appliance Inc
Dear [member name removed], Thanks for your continued support and kind words. I sent you an E-mail earlier giving a detailed explanation provided by my lead installer, Chris surrounding the power supply issue on your new wall oven. Please call me to discuss any aspects of it that are of concern to you. Our service technicians are all assigned specific areas of service. Customers can expect to have the same service technician year after year. Periodically we have to send another technician to cover vacations, etc. and sometimes technicians change areas per their request. Of course some technicians are more experienced than others. That is why as a company we provide ongoing support, training, and technology to assist them in being the very best they can be. As you know and have stated, we do try to go out of our way to address and resolve any and every situation that arises. Please feel free to call me or any of my managers concerning any aspect of our business. We are here to help.
