Sadly, despite their friendly visit, they did not do any further investigation to discover the source of the odor, which still remains. I mentioned to them that I suspected that one of our babies' tiny socks could be trapped somewhere in the machinery, or that perhaps drainage was an issue (the units were just stacked in the last 6 weeks). They told my husband that they do not take machines apart. I would have contacted another vendor had I known that they would not attempt to resolve the issue!
Description of Work: Our Samsung front load washing machine (18 months old) just began to emit an odor upon running a load of laundry. The gasket is clean, and we tried to use Affresh, but to no avail. The techs who came out were very friendly and professional. They cleaned out the pin trap assuming that was the problem and gave us a few tips on how to clean it ourselves.

Dear Member, We have a 90 day warranty on all our repairs. If you ever find that your appliance is continuing to do the same thing it was doing before you called please don't hesitate to let us know! Whenever our Master Certified technicians make a diagnosis and repair we guarantee our work. All you have to do is call us back and let us know about the problem and we'll send the technician back to your house at no charge to re-diagnose the problem. Our technician Scott thought that by cleaning the pin trap on your washer he had solved your odor problem. This is a very reasonable assumption and usually solves the problem the vast majority of time. I will have someone call you this morning to arrange a technician to come back to your house and look over the Samsung washer again to find the source of the odor. As I've said there is no charge to you for this service. Please call or e-mail me directly if you want to discuss this matter further with me or if you have any other questions I can help you with. We are here to serve! Have a great day and a joy-filled Easter! Dean Landers, President Landers Appliance, Inc. DLanders@Landerspliance.com 410 682-3232 ext 101

To get the negative out of the way first, this provider charged more up front for the visit and diagnosis than others ($100 vs. as low as $40 elsewhere.) After speaking with them, and with four or five others, we hired them anyway, and we did not regret it. They were the only people who could come and fix our broken dryer the same day --- a major factor for us (with two young kids at home). They also went above and beyond to make sure the problem was solved on that first visit. The repairman (Dino) rapidly diagnosed a broken belt, but found he did not have the correct replacement part with him. Instead of arranging a follow-up visit for another day, with another visit charge, he rummaged around in his truck until he found a belt that would at least hold us over until he could come back. He did this at no extra charge. He also gave us a bill for the total charge right there and then, one that would hold regardless of what happened on the follow-up visit. The temporary belt did hold, allowing us to get on with our lives. Dino did come back several days later, with the correct belt, and installed that at no additional charge. So he was as good as his word. While it is possible that another company might have done this repair for a little less total, we doubt that it would have been done so quickly or so professionally. When our refrigerator broke down the week after, we had no hesitation in calling Landers again. The visit and diagnosis fee was the same ($100) --- and again the service was more than worth it. This second repairman (George) diagnosed the problem as a faulty defrost control board, fixed it by "rebooting" the fridge, told us what we could expect in the future (and what it would cost to replace the board) --- and charged us nothing on top of that visit fee.

Description of Work: I used Landers Appliance because I had an issue with a refrigerator that was not properly cooling. The problem was with the air blower. In the initial stage, they did try to fix it but they were not able to. They said to give it a week or two. I waited for two weeks and the problem started repeating again.

Just called and they charge $99 to come give you an estimate. The $99 is NOT applied to the repair. Any repair is on top of the $99. That seems very expensive! I did not have them come out.

Dear Member, Thanks for your comments. There are traditionally two distinct methods used by appliance service companies in pricing repairs. One method is the "No Service Charge With Repair" and the other is to quote the service charge and the repair balance separately. It is our observation and experience that any company that claims they will not charge a service charge if the customer opts to make the repair is simply adding the service charge into their labor, and the customer ultimately pays the same amount as they would if they used a company like mine that defines the service charge as part of the total repair. All companies have real expenses in getting a truck and a technician to the customers house and then the time to diagnose the broken appliance. Companies have to cover their expenses in order to stay in business. There is no way they can simply wave those expenses away. If you would call me and explain the problem you are having with your washer I can try and determine the potential problem and give you an estimate to make the repair. You can then call companies that advertise "No Service Charge with Repair" and ask them to quote their repair price on the same exact repair. Then you can compare the two prices and see for yourself that what I am describing is true. Please call me to discuss this or any other matter with any of your appliances. We are here to help! I spoke to someone about a repair for a Kitchen Aid dryer. It needed a motor. They quoted a motor at 140.00. $99.00 for a house call and $150.00 to install. I thought $250.00 to repair the dryer was excessive. It had been my experience that the house call charge would be credited to the overall cost. Not the case here. They did suggest I buy a new dryer. Perhaps because they sell dryers.

Dear Member, I am glad we were able to speak to you, helping you to diagnose your dryer problem over the phone, allowing you to avoid having to pay for the service charge of $99.95. We are one of the very few companies that will actually take the time to walk through a potential problem with our customers over the phone in order to determine if a problem is worth making a repair or not. Although we are not always successful and a service call is often required to determine the root problem , it does bear fruit occasionally, as it did in your case. In regard to pricing repairs, there are two standard practices in the appliance repair industry. One method is to claim "no service charge with repair". These companies state that if you opt to have the repair work completed you will not be obligated to pay for the service charge. You simply pay the total repair charge. It goes without saying that all businesses have to cover their real costs and that includes their expense in getting a service vehicle and technician to and from your house, and the labor costs involved in making the diagnosis. Any company that claims "No service charge with repair" is simply hiding their service charge in the final bill. You can test this by getting one of these companies to quote on replacing the motor in a Kitchen Aid dryer. You will quickly see their total costs are very similar to the one we quoted you. The second method of charging is to quote a service charge that includes the trip to the house, the diagnosis, and a quote for the repair before any work is completed. The total repair quote will include the service charge, labor, any parts needed and the tax for those parts. We believe this is the honest, forthright way of doing business in that all costs are disclosed and this is how we operate. If any customer would ever want to discuss our methods of doing business, pricing, scheduling, guarantee, etc I am available by phone or e-mail. Our goal is to serve our customers with excellence and work out any issues whenever we fail to do so. Dean Landers, President 410 682-3232 ext 101 DLanders@LandersAppliance.com

Technician came on time and promptly did the work and gave some tips on using the new fridge. Everything went well. This was after very bad experience with both Homedepot and Samsung even though per the note inside the fridge Homedepot installers should have connected the waterline when they brought the new fridge. Samsung support vendor took two weeks and cancelled two tickets and never showed up to do the work. So we had to pay someone else to fix the water line.

Today, on Christmas eve, they came out as promised and thoroughly examined the machine, checked the hoses (not the problem), and made sure everything was in good working order. The problem we had was not with any work they had performed for us- and yet they charged nothing for the follow-up. Steve spent time with us explaining a great deal about our machine and while advising us on the dependability of newer models, counseled to stay with our machine until repairs started to cost more than its worth. This kind of honesty really inspires confidence in this store and its personnel. We are really impressed.

Salesperson was very responsive and walked me through measuring the available space to make sure the new units would fit. The installation team was superb. It was pouring rain when they delivered the washer and dryer. They explained how to use both units, and the special features. They cleaned up the installation area. I love Landers. While I did find the washer and dryer just a bit cheaper at another dealer, the quality of the service more than makes up for higher cost.

After calling a number of places looking for someone who was open Thanksgiving weekend, I found Landers. They were not only open, but they sent a technician out the same day I called. I was very impressed. The technician came on time, looked over the oven, and checked his computer to see if they had the needed part in stock. They didn't. He said he would order it and someone would call and email to let me know when to expect installation. He didn't talk much - but I was ok with that, as long as my oven was going to be fiixed. I use it almost every day. However, I did expect to hear an update from Landers on Monday, which I didn't. I finally called them, spoke to two very nice women who apologized profusely for not calling as promised. Neither of them could tell me when the part would be in or the install would happen. Each promised to follow up with me on Tuesday. Neither did. On Wednesday, when I phoned yet again, I got a cheerful woman who gave me an appointment on Friday afternoon. While she seemed quite pleased with this, I was not so happy. The wait time was not as much of an issue as the complete lack of follow through and poor communication. The technician on Friday was quick, efficient, and almost completely silent. He promised me an invoice via email. I finally received the invoice a week later. According to the invoice, I got a clock. If you say you'll call on Monday, do it. If you promise an emailed receipt, I should get it the same day. And it should be accurate, for crying out loud.

Dear [removed members name], I called you yesterday after receiving and reading your survey before seeing this post. I am very sorry we dropped the ball by not following through and calling you back with the time line for when you could expect the part. There is no excuse for poor customer service. Please forgive us for such shoddy treatment. In my investigation of the situation I discovered that the electronic control (also called a clock by several manufacturers even though it is also the brains behind the appliance operations) was ordered Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, the same day you called us for service. We were promised we would receive the clock on Monday. On Monday we did not receive all our orders from UPS but the UPS man said he still had several boxes somewhere on his truck and would return later in the day when he found them. He returned later that afternoon but did not have any of the parts we had ordered on Friday, including your clock. We followed up with the parts distributor where we had ordered the parts from. They researched the matter on Tuesday and found that their warehouse had shipped the parts out on Friday as they had promised but UPS still had the parts in a distribution center in Harrisburg, PA for reasons that no one could discern. The parts did not arrive until later Wednesday. Sara in my parts department thought she had contacted all the customers that were waiting on parts but somehow neglected updating you. My customer service staff was asking about the situation and even though they did not have an answer they still should have called you back to tell you what we did know. I did forward your comments posted here to everyone in my company so everyone can understand how important it is to do what we say we are going to do. I'm so sorry for the inconvenience we caused you. Please call me or any of my managers (Jim is our service manager and Mary is the office manager) if you ever experience frustration at any level in dealing with our company or to talk about this matter in greater detail. We really do try to serve our customers with excellence and appreciate your feedback so we can improve. Merry Christmas and a Joyous holiday to you and yours. Came out on Monday morning after we called to schedule repair on Saturday. Dryer was fixed in about a half an hour. Excellent service, however....the only downside to this provider is the fee. They changed us $99 just to walk in the door and then charged additional based on the actual repair. I think that is a high price to pay just for the service call.

[removed member name] There is no doubt that service, and especially in home service is expensive. Our service charge of $99.95 includes coming to your house, diagnosing the problem, telling you what is wrong with the appliance and giving you a repair estimate. Any needed parts, tax and labor are in addition to the service charge and part of the total flat rate price we quote for the repair. We always quote these charges up front, when the call is being scheduled and before any repair is made. We guarantee our repairs and parts used for 90 days and if the appliance fails due to other problems within the 90 days and it is not economical to make additional repairs we will refund your original repair money except the service charge. The net effect is we partner with you on all repairs. This is the same as if both problems would have failed at the same time and we never made the initial repair. We really do try to go out of our way to deliver excellence to our customers with all of their appliance needs. Please feel free to call and speak to me if you have any other questions or concerns regarding this or any other appliance or service related issue. We are here to serve! It took three days to get a technician to my house. The first day, they 'promised' to arrive between 9-1. At 1:30 I called and told them not to come because I had a doctor's appointment in an hour. I told them they would get an F in Angie's List. At that point the phone operator said they'd come the next day with a 45 min. call before the technician arrived. Once again, at 1:30 I called and told them to cancel the service call. Later that afternoon the service manager called, apologized and promised to have a technician arrive as soon as possible in the morning. Today the technician arrived and repaired the dryer. I was stunned with the bill however, $220! I didn't believe the trip and the repair would amount to that much. Never, never will use these people again.

Service manager was willing to have a thorough discussion on the telephone about possible problems with our stove. We were thus prepared for the cost of various possible solutions. We were pleasantly surprised however when the prompt, curteous, and very professional technician found only an electrical short in the system and we escaped for little more than the cost of the service call.
