It went well. They came in and the guy was really honest and said it would have cost more to repair than to replace it. I would use this provider again in the future.

The housing for the transmission was cracked. The machine, as the service technician noted, would cost more to repair than replace. He answered my questions regarding advice on purchasing a new machine, which on the whole turned out to be good advice. All of my contacts with Landers were pleasant and efficient. I would use them again.

Outstanding. Our fridge is 30 years old and I was prepared to hear it could not be fixed. I was pleasantly surprised that George diagnosed the issue very quickly, checked part availability, ordered them and came back the next day. He installed the Defrost Thermastat and the Defrost Heater. It now runs better than ever. I will use Landers for all my appliance repair needs in the future.

It was late on a Wednesday when we noticed the refrigerator was not working and everything in the freezer was thawing. At that time there was nothing we could do but wait until the next day to contact a repair. I immediately went to Angie's list to look up who serviced my area. I found three different companies, but Lander's Appliance were the only ones who answered the phone with a live person for me to talk to. That really rated them high on my list because I wanted to ensure I could get same day or at least next day service. I understand that the service call of $99.95 is much higher than some others; however, at least I knew someone would be coming that day. They even went so far as to understand I was at work and called me within the time frame I gave them to let me know the service technician was on his way. This gave me enough time to get home from work to meet him and didn't cause me to sit around for a 4-5 hour time block just waiting. The service technician, who was a master technician, was very knowledgeable and explained the process of what he would do and how it would get diagnosed/charged. Essentially you pay the $99.95 no matter what - whether it is fixed or not - but they do consider the age of your appliance and whether they themselves would fix it or just buy a new one. It ended up being my control panel luckily and not the compressor. A compressor would have meant a new refrigerator. Ultimately my repair was around $316 if you consider the $99.95 which I would have had to pay anyway which made the repair worth it to me and my husband. I was also able to use the $10 Angie's List coupon to get to this price which was nice. Within a matter of minutes it seemed, the refrigerator was up and cooling ;-) The technician left and I went back to work. When I came home later, my husband said he noticed later that day that the water/electronic temperature gages were no longer working which they were prior to the repair. I called Lander's the next morning and the same technician was sent out to see what was wrong. I was hopeful that it was just a wire that was perhaps not correctly connected back or not as tight as it needed to be as the appliance was otherwise working. When the tehcnician arrived, I shared that was my hope and at first he seemed put off that I would even suggest such a thing and told me that if it is not the control panel (which can sometimes be faulty at replacement) that the repair would be more. I was taken back as i was just having friendly conversation and sharing my hope that it would not cost any more. The good news was that if it would have been diagnosed as something more, they would have refunded my money (they have a 90-day gurarentee) and taken back the part they put in if the total repairs would have been more than I wanted to spend. Utlimately, the technician did find that one of the wires was dislodged. Once all was reconnected everything worked fine. Even though the service call was higher than most, I would use Lander's again. They were prompt and professional both days.

Thanks for using our company Mrs. [member name removed]. We appreciate your business! I'm sorry we had to make a second trip to correct our mistake. I'm glad there was nothing else wrong and the repair on the second trip simply involved us realigning a wiring harness on the replacement board. I'm sorry our technician expressed his sensitivity to your inquiries as sometimes they can be taken the wrong way and internalized as criticism. It is usually best to not speak of the "could be's" until the inspection is completed because we never know what the root cause is until we have finished looking the appliance over. Please feel to call me or my service manager Jim (ext 105) if you ever have a question about an on going service call or any of your other appliances. We are here to help! Our Frigidaire stopped cooling the refrigerator compartment late in the evening. I called when Landers opened the next day and was able to get an appointment that day but was told the service time would be 9-5. Not only was the problem quickly identified and repaired but the technician arrived by 10 which allowed me to get to work on time. The refrigerator is working perfectly. The technician was very competent and friendly, and I was charged a fair price. I would definitely call them for an appliance repair in the future.

We have used Landers before, based on Angie's List recommendations, and once again had a phenomenal experience. Our refrigerator died. We did some research on line, and called various trade associations, the manufacturer, and, ultimately, service and sales firms. As usual, Landers was the most knowledgeable. Their main business is repair, so they apparently go to a lot of training events. They asked good questions and gave solid, unbiased advice. Even though they are not conveniently located for us, we drove out there to look at what they had; their selection is more limited than big retailers. There is absolutely no pressure, and the salesman was helpful. We looked at scratch-and dents, priced lower, and ended up buying one. We could not see any imperfection in the store or in our home. (Everything is guaranteed.) They not only added a promotional discount, they added a discount from an old coupon to that! I should mention that we had bought a scratch-and dent dryer from them a few years ago sight unseen - it was just going to the laundry room. Turns out that dent was even more inconspicuous that described. Thay delivered the refrigerator the next afternoon. (We had just missed the delivery to our area for same day.) No extra charge for fast delivery. There are charges for delivery and for installation, both of which are typical for our area. There is a $10 charge for removing the old refrigerator. Delivery was without incident, the installers were pleasant and efficient. They even told us some important information about allowing the refrigerator to come to stable temperature - info that is in the manual, but it sure was convenient to have someone tell us upfront what to do. A side note: we needed dishwasher service on a holiday a year or 2 ago. They came out, no extra charge. I will use them for appliance sales and service every time.

The refrigerator stopped working late Saturday evening. I went on line and placed a request with several appliance repair companies. A very polite young woman, Jackie, from Landers Appliance called at 8:00 am on Monday and scheduled the appointment for that day. She gave a time frame from between 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; but indicated that I would receive a call approximately (15) minutes before the technician arrived. As promised, I received a call at around 11:00 am informing me that Technician Joe was on the way. He arrived a short time later and within minutes had diagnosed the problem with the refrigerator as a malfunctioning fan that was not transferring the cold air from the freezer to the fridge. Joe had the part in his van and was able to replace the fan immediately. Throughout our interaction Joe was very polite, pleasant, and took the time to answer several questions regarding our refrigerator. We also made Joe aware that we are going to have our kitchen remodeled in 2015. He mentioned that Landers sells appliances and made recommendations regarding some quality brands that are reliable. Based on our overwhelming positive experience with Landers (Jackie and Joe) we fully intend to visit their showroom to get our appliances. Great company with outstanding employees. Thanks for the outstanding job Joe! I checked the refrigerator this morning and it is working perfectly. I highly recommend this company.

My old electric Whirlpool dryer wouldn't start. Landers sent Robert, who was very courteous and professional. The dryer ran fine once the electric cord and thermal fuse were replaced. I am satisfied with the repair. The cost to repair the dryer included the service call flat fee, parts and labor. The dryer is over 15 years old, so when it bites the dust again it will just get replaced with a new one.

Hi [member name removed], I hope you have been able to find a suitable front load washing machine to replace your Sears front loader. I did read over our technician Robert's notes. There are several components that can cause a loud noise. He eliminated the other components as possibilities and discovered the noise was coming from the rear drum bearings. In any front load washer replacing the rear drum bearings represent a significant repair as the main tub seals and the drum shaft also have to be replaced. The cost of parts alone make this repair uneconomical. We did charge and you paid our standard trip and diagnostic service charge of $99.95. Please call me if you have any questions about your washer, our diagnosis, or any of your other appliances in your home. We are here to help! It went fine. Robert even phoned LG to see if they had other recommendations. They didn't.
Description of Work: Robert tried to figure out what was causing little black flecks to be left on my clothes. He thought it was probably a build up of soap scum, and recommended changing detergents, using less detergent, and running back to back clean cycles with the Affresh cleaner. I clean regularly with Affresh, but he suggested I do multiple, consecutive cleanings to clean off the scum he saw on the drum. He checked the hoses, etc. to see if there was any other possible source of the black flecks.

It was a great experience. Landers went out of their way to fix the problem. Although it took a few days everything was done to perfection. Time delay was waiting for parts from the manufacturer. What could have been a rather expensive venture, was not. Landers went out of their way to research when and where we purchased the dishwasher and and if the parts were under warranty. The dishwasher was only 2 years old. Fortunately, the parts were under warranty and the only thing I paid for was the labor. Amazing, I have dealt with other repair companies and no one has ever gone that length in customer service. The young gentleman that serviced our dishwasher was prompt, courteous and explained everything. I will definitely use them again. Also, no money exchanged hands until the job was totally completed.

The refrigerator is working fine now. I felt the overall charge was steep but I really have nothing to compare it with. The labor was expensive for the amount of time involved in the repair. Nevertheless, I was pleased overall.
Description of Work: Refrigerator was not cooling, and the freezer was over freezing. Diagnosed the problem quickly: control panel was bad. Replaced the control panel and did a quick defrost of the freezer in order to complete the work (cost $80 for that work--but otherwise he wold have had to return the next day and we would have had to defrost the freezer overnight). The repairman showed me the problem and also showed me that the control panel had been upgraded by Westinghouse since the panel I'd had replaced two years ago (not loving my Amana refrig!). Quick work and the refrig has been operating as it should.

Dear Member, I’m sorry for the delay in addressing your post. Unfortunately we have no way of knowing a specific problem with any appliance until we are actually able to inspect and test the product. We have had more than our share of appliances that have been exposed to water that have operated problem free for years post flood. We have also had appliances that suffered substantial damage requiring replacement as a result of being submerged in water. The only sure way of knowing is to have a technician inspect and perform a diagnosis on the malfunctioning appliance. In the case of your dryer there are several components that can prevent the unit from running including the non-resettable fuse and door switch. According to Dino, one of our Master Certified Technicians (with 30 years of experience) your dryer was exposed to 12” of water, not 5", which caused your motor to fail. I wish we had the ability to save you the service charge by deducing the problem over the phone without touching your dryer but that was not possible. If you ever want to discuss the potential problems with any of your appliances before scheduling a service technician please ask to speak to my service manager Jim or myself. We will try to give you as much info as possible up front so you can decide if you want to invest in the service charge. We are here to help our customers. Technician was able to come out the next day and arrived on time. Was quickly able to diagnose the issue (compressor), which we had suspected was the issue - though sometimes, it could be the relay switch, a repair the tech said he could have done on the spot. We didn't end up hiring this contractor due to the expensive diagnostic fee. (See details above.)
Description of Work: Would have charged $99.95 to diagnose the problem - even though we had already diagnosed it as a broken ignitor on our oven - plus an additional $109.65 to fix it. So all in would have been $210, or about $60 higher than the company we ended up going with. Since we had already correctly diagnosed the problem, would have been nice for him to just charge for the repair, which only takes about 20 minutes.

Dear Member, I'm glad you were able to get your oven repaired. I do appreciate that you were correct in your diagnosis and understand your logic that since you did have your appliance correctly diagnosed you believe you should not have to pay for that aspect of our service. Let me provide a full explanation as to why we operate as we do. Over the past thirty plus years we have found that customers do not make the correct diagnosis the vast majority of times. Our solution which we found to be the best for everyone involved is to spend the time to make our own diagnosis, even if it simply confirms a customer’s assumptions. That way we are the ones who are then responsible for the labor and parts, not you. Our service charge covers three things: the trip to your house by our service professional, the actual diagnosis of the problem, which we guarantee (including in your case the confirmation of the diagnosis) and the repair quote. What would happen if we simply came in and replaced the part you deemed defective without at least confirming your diagnosis and it did not fix the problem? Who would pay for the now used part and labor spent in putting in the part that was not needed? In the scenario you have outlined you would be the one responsible for the unnecessary labor and the used part. Our goal is to serve the customer. This includes providing service usually the same day you call. We employee factory trained, highly skilled, extremely friendly service technicians. We closely monitor our truck inventory so we can complete 80% of our service calls on the first trip, saving you from having to take time out of your busy schedule. We guarantee all our repairs for ninety days, including giving your repair money back if another problem occurs and the appliance is not worth any additional repairs. We will also spend time on the phone to answer questions you may have about a potential repair. We attend to any issues immediately and have thousands of testimonials from satisfied customers who have highly commended us for the level of service we provide. This level of service is not cheap. I trust this explanation helps you understand why we do things the way we do them. I am always available as is my service manager Jim if you ever want to discuss our business practices or an appliance problem you are having. We are here to serve!
