The entire experience went well. When I called and explained the problem (water was not entering dishwasher) the receptionist took my information, told me there would be a $99 fee for the service call and offered to set up an appointment the next day. When the service personnel arrived they examined the dishwasher, explained the problem, and told me they would need to order a part and return to replace it and that the part and service would be $180. We approved, they ordered the part and it was available the next business day when they called to schedule the return visit. Repair was made and everything worked fine. Every contact was professional and the service calls were made on time.

. I was looking for a new dishwasher. At Landers, I spoke with the salesperson, Pat. She spent a lot of time with me going over the features of the various models helping me decide which one was best for me. She was very knowledgeable and did not pressure me in anyway. It was a great experience working with her compared to experiences in the large stores. When the dishwasher was delivered, the crew, Shawn and Eric, worked very hard at placing the dishwasher in a tight space. They also removed the old dishwasher. When I need another appliance or a repair, I will go back to Landers.

I was so relieved when the Landers technician came to my house. I had been having problems with my old dryer. The dryer was tearing my clothes as they were getting caught in the drum while it was on. I searched everywhere for a dryer that would fit in my basement. My home was built in 1886 and the basement door is very narrow. Th dryer could not be fixed for less than the cost of a new dryer, but I could not find a dryer that would fit. I was at my wits end deciding what to do. I thought I was out of options and I would have to succumb to line drying. The Landers technician was very knowledgeable and quickly saw a solution to my problem. He suggested a new dryer from the shop. He would come over with the new dryer, take it apart and re-assemble it downstairs. He knew exactly which model this was possible with. Upon delivery of my new dryer, everything went smoothly. I met them during my lunch break. He got my dryer together and working within an hour. I was so relieved that this nightmare was over. Thank you so much Landers!

We had a washing machine that stopped draining water. We have used Landers in the past and decided to use them again. After the initial visit, they came back with the part, which had to be ordered, to repair the machine. The machine was repaired. *** UNFORTUNATELY ***, the service man *** FORGOT *** to tie down the discharge hose. Since the washer and dryer is on the upper level, when the hose popped out of the drain, *** BECAUSE IT WASN'T SECURE ***, the result was extensive water damage. The service person took responsibility. After the service manager saw the damage, they said their insurance would handle it. The MAJOR problem with this is they only have liability insurance, which means they won't cover depreciation costs. Which, for carpet or any furniture damaged,would make sense. ***** INSTEAD **** it also applies towards structural damage. To make a long story short, the amount their insurance company would pay, would leave me paying about $1100 out of my pocket! This is OUT OF MY POCKET for damage THEY CAUSED. If I get my insurance to cover the difference, which I could do because we have a full replacement rider, I would then risk later cancellation or a rise in my insurance rate because of a claim. To make this EXTREMELY CLEAR. I paid for service to the washing machine. NOW I am to pay for damage *** THEY CAUSED *** to my house.

Hi [Member name removed], I am very sorry we caused such a mess. We came out the same day you called when you discovered the leak. We corrected our mistake, assessed the damage and placed a claim into our insurance company within a few hours of being called. We answered all of your calls and questions as well as the claim adjuster’s questions. When you contacted us alerting us to the fact that the insurance company had depreciated some items in your home leaving an out of pocket expense of $1000 we spoke to the customer service department of our insurance broker. They told us to have you call and place a claim with your insurance company as your own advocate and the two insurance companies would work out the details. My service manager, Jim relayed that info to you. We have always understood the frustration involved in situations such as this one and were trying to solve it, not add to it. We were trying to follow what we were told is the standard protocol established by the insurance companies, by having you contact your insurance company to subrogate against our insurance. Once your insurance company identified that they would not subrogate for you since the uncovered amount equaled your deductible, I called our insurance broker and asked him to get involved in the claim. He pursued the matter, which I kept you informed of. While the insurance company did take longer than expected to properly adjust the claim, our broker did get it resolved, holding you harmless, which is what we thought and expected would happen from the beginning if your insurance company had gotten involved. In the end, you were made whole. Again, I’m sorry for all the tension and hassle this caused. Obviously you know accidents happen. Called in the morning and repairman arrived that afternoon. To my amazement, the part was stocked on the truck and Bill immediately made the repair. He was very knowledgeable and spoke highly of the company on how they treat the employees and customers. I will definitely use this company again.

I first called two separate appliance repair businesses, but was unsuccessful in setting up an appointment. I then called Landers and was able to talk to a human! Joanne was helpful in setting up an appointment that fit with the tenant's schedule. Technician Bill arrived as scheduled, and, as requested, called me with diagnosis and estimate before proceeding with the repair. Repair cost was charged to my credit card, and invoice will be emailed to me. Everything was done very professionally.
Description of Work: Tenant reported leakage at refrigerator; water collecting under crisper drawer. Also, door does not close unless you lean on it.

Arrived within the 4 hour range and completed work within 30 minutes. I mentioned my washing machine seemed off balance every time it was in spin cycle. He took a look and "fixed" it in 30 seconds! Only required tipping the machine forward to rebalance it. I was glad I hadn't called only for that or I'd have paid $100 for 30 seconds. As it was, the price for the visit seemed a little high, but at least my oven was repaired. I was disappointed I didn't get my refrigerator magnet, as he had none. Hope I can remember the name of company next time I need a repair!

I called on Friday hopeful of the same experience I had several years ago and unfortunately I was disappointed. I scheduled a Saturday service and was told that I should expect a call at 0930 by Joann. I waited till 1030 and when I spoke with Joann she very rudely told me that I was to call her. I have never had to call for time of service for any other provider - they have always called me. I rescheduled my morning hoping that the service would be early - but as she told me on Friday they would not know the schedule until Saturday morning - again why I would expect the call to me. Joann seemed such a nice person but quickly became rude and dismissive. Customer service is simply lip service to these people. I will not use them again and am actively looking for another repair service now. Courtesy goes a long way - and apparently these folks have not learned that. I wish them the best - repeat customers are the best - and I had spent an hour trying to find them. Never again.

I am sorry you were not able to get service in the time frame you desired and that you were treated poorly by my office staff. We do try to go out of our way to satisfy the needs and requests of our customers as our testimonials and other reviews would attest. On Saturdays we only provide emergency service so our standard policy is to schedule service calls with an all day time frame because we usually only have one technician working to provide service to a very large geographical area. We aren't able to give specific times as we are under the constraints of the types of appliances being serviced and the extended areas they can be located in. What we typically tell customers who want a better time frame is to call us back in mid to late morning and throughout the day and we will try to provide a time frame although it is not always possible due to the factors I described. Robert - their service technician - was outstanding. Had the dishwasher back up and working in less than an hour. Very professional, great conversationalist, made the entire service call actually enjoyable. Ironically - I am now having an issue with the same dishwasher - different problem - and spent an hour trying to find the company and Robert ..... called and spoke to Ms. Joann at Landers and have scheduled another call for tomorrow. Fantastic! Saved me a lot of money as opposed to replacing it. Danny the repair technician was very professional, friendly, and had a sense of humor. He had to take the entire unit apart that was located beneath. Turns out that a magnet (not associated with the exhaust vent at all) somehow managed to adhere to the back edge of exhaust unit as it was retracting. I had kept the1 inch magnet on the ledge of the countertop back splash for years just so I knew where to find it. Now I learned where not to store a magnet.
Description of Work: Fixed retractable downdraft exhaust fan that almost retracted, but got stuck. Of course, it was still running.

There was water dripping into one of the crisper drawers in the refrigerator. I called Lander's and was able to get a appointment within the week (it would have been sooner, bur my own schedule was problematic). Danny Brown arrived on time. He was cheerful, polite, and patient with my questions. And, when I realized that I was going to have to empty the refrigerator, he went above and beyond by climbing a ladder in the garage and getting down a very large cooler for me! And he did this with a smile! (Fabulous customer service AND competence--Give this man a raise!) It took him less than ten minutes to find the issue: a clogged drain line, and very little time to fix. He cleaned up after himself (as much as possible, anyway--I took the opportunity to wipe down the interior of the refrigerator.) I am VERY happy with my service, and would definitely call them again!

When we called Landers our refrigerator had stopped cooling for about 3 days. We had tried to get the repair through the dealer (2year old model). We ended up calling Landers on Monday & were put on the same day schedule. They gave us an appointment time with a 5 hour window, but they came within 2 hours. The repairman found the problem, a piece that controls the temperature/fan something. He had the replacement on the van. It was fixed! I was most impressed with the time frame, the office help and the repairman.

Landers was able to schedule the installation within two days and on a day that was convenient. As promised we received a call when they were on their way and the two installers arrived on time. They completed the installation within an hour. Everything went as hoped. While it was a little expensive, I thought the price was fair.
Description of Work: We had previously purchased a front-loading washer/dryer set. After having them for a couple of months we decided that we wanted the pedestals that raise them off the floor by about 15 inches or so so that we wouldn't have to bend down as much to load and unload. We called the company that we had purchased them from and found that, while I could buy the pedestals they wouldn't be able to come back and install them - they could only have installed them if I had purchased and had them installed at the time of the original installation of the washer/dryer set. I called another appliance store and they wouldn't be able to do it either. Something about insurance, can't take the chance that they'd damage the previously installed units, blah blah blah. Anyway, after a few calls I finally found Landers who agreed to come out and install the pedestals once I had purchased and received them from the original vendor (Best Buy).

I contacted them by e-mail with a dryer issue and explained what it was. They promptly responded to my e-mail, and then I phoned them. It was a very pleasant exchange and I was advised that they would relay my information to the service manager. I then received an e-mail instructing me what to do, and also a phone call from the service manager.
Description of Work: This provider did something that I don't think many businesses would have done. The service manager, Jim, reached out to me and gave me some advice on what to do to try & resolve my issue before just sending someone out and charging a fee. The advice worked & my problem solved.....I was ecstatic, that I didn't have to wait for someone to come out and charge me on top of that. So nice to know there are some reputable businesses around, and Landers is definitely on of the them. THANK YOU!!!!!!

The tech came and quickly got to work. He inspected it, all the while informing me and telling me what he was doing and what he found. The drain was clogged and frozen over, so he replaced the drain with an updated s-shaped drain. He worked quickly, efficiently and pleasantly. He told me I'd need to do a defrost for 48 hrs sometime at my convenience. I did that, and everything has worked beautifully since then. I liked how he showed me the improved drain and explained what the problem had been and how the new drain would work better. It may have been possible to get it repaired more cheaply, but I appreciated the professional way they handled it, and it meant I didn't need to try to find the right part myself, install it, etc. Plus, I wouldn't have realized that I needed to do a complete 48-hr defrost for it to work. The service was worth it for us. He also said that the work came with a 90 day warranty, so if sth else went wrong with the fridge in the following 90 days, they'd waive the service call fee, which is just under $100.
Description of Work: Our french-door fridge was leaking water out of the lower freezer. He replaced the drain with a more effective one.

The repair technician arrived for the initial service call well within the estimated time and quickly diagnosed the issue we had already expected (based on some internet searching)--that the control board for the refrigerator had gone bad due to a blown fuse. Unfortunately this necessitated replacing the whole control board due to the way the board was constructed, so a bad ~$5 fuse resulted in the need to replace a ~$200 part. I don't blame the repair company for this--I think for liability's sake they need to replace the whole part from the manufacturer instead of trying to disconnect the bad fuse, find a replacement, and weld it back on. This is just the way things seem to be made these days. The part was ordered and installed the day after the service company received it. We were pleased with the professionalism of the service technician, Scott K., who even left us the bad control board in case we found someone we trusted to replace the damaged fuse (so we'd have a backup part in case this happens again). While the overall costs seemed a bit high, I think these days an initial diagnosis fee of some sort is par for the course. And unlike some appliance repair companies we've dealt with in the past, Landers did NOT require us to pay everything up front before the final repair was complete. Payment wasn't due until the day of the repair and confirmation that our refrigerator was working again.

My tenant's refrigerator broke down on them on the Friday before Memorial Day Weekend. Landers said they'd have someone out between 1-4pm. Technician never showed up and by the time we realized that the tech wasn't coming, the main office was closed for the day and we couldn't get anyone on the phone. Tenants were understandably upset. Friday night, the technician showed up to my house instead of the tenant's house. Landers had the addresses backwards on the work order. So, the technician was several hours late and showed up to the wrong address. When I talked to Landers about it on Saturday, they weren't very apologetic about the mistake. The tenants left for the weekend so the refrigerator didn't get fixed until Tuesday. All that said, the guy knew what he was doing and the refrigerator was fixed quickly on Tuesday. Update: The owner of Landers got in touch and made concessions to reconcile for the mistakes. I was surprised that they made the effort to reach out and pleased with the outcome. Top notch business.

I read through all the notes on our ticket and fully accept the fact we failed to measure up to our time commitment. Our customer service rep took your call Friday morning 5/22 and scheduled a service appointment for later the same day. One of our staff advised your tenant that the tech would be there between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm. The technician was running late while trying to provide service to all our customers the day before a holiday weekend. He should have called and advised the tenant of his tardiness. And to make matters worse, instead of going to the tenant’s house the technician went to your house because his service ticket was put in our system improperly listing the tenants address as the Landlord and your address as the tenants. Since no one was home, our technician tagged your door at 5:55 PM. I know our office tried to solve the problem by calling the tenant early Saturday morning to schedule a technician as an emergency call on Saturday but the tenant was unavailable until Tuesday. I don’t ever remember anything like this happening before and am sorry for all the hassle this caused. I will certainly speak to my entire customer service staff about double checking the information they are imputing into our system and to make sure we are demonstrating an appropriate, empathetic, professional, and speedy fix to any problems we cause by our mistakes. As a way of expressing my apologies I am going to send you a $50 for our mistake. Please call me if you would like to discuss this matter further and never hesitate to contact me if we ever fail to deliver exceptional service as that is our stated goal and mission. The technician (Bill) arrived on time and quickly identified the problem with the appliance. He also checked that other systems were behaving correctly and demonstrated that this was the case. He provided a quote for a replacement control board, placed the part request with the home office indicating that it would be a few days before they would have the part and left. Bill called about 30 min later and said he would have the part soon and could he come back to finish the repair. Bill returned about 1 hour later and replaced the board in short order. Bill was very professional, courteous and appreciative of my time. He also provided an unsolicited and very complementary opinion of the Lander's company. He obviously enjoys working at Lander's. If the other techs feel the same, the company is clearly doing something right and this will be reflected in their work and customer service. I appreciate straight up honest people and companies and don't mind paying a little more to ensure there are no games with my time or my money. Based on this experience at least, Lander's is a very good company and I will be happy to have them back if the need arises.

My GE dryer had been making a squeaking noise off and on for a while. I called Landers Tuesday morning and the phone was answered by a person, not a machine. She took all my information and said either someone could come out today or tomorrow. I could call back in half an hour to see if today's time would suit me. Before I could call back, she called me and said the repairman was on his way! Wow! Bill arrived shortly thereafter and he treated my home with great care (booties on his shoes, a quilt on the floor). He took apart the dryer, carefully inspecting each part as he went and explaining what he was doing. His diagnosis was that the dryer probably only needed some grease and not any new parts because all the parts looked to be in good condition. Of course he could have told me I needed to buy new parts and I would have done so, but he was honest with me. Bill waited while I ran some towels through a short wash cycle so we could try the dryer to make sure it wasn't squeaking any longer. It wasn't, and it has not squeaked again since he greased the machine. I truly appreciate Landers' honesty and quality service. Their prices are reasonable. They charged me $99 for the visit and only about $30 for the work after the Angie's List $10 discount. If Bill had had to come back a second time, I would not have had to pay a second service charge. Bill even offered to look at any other appliances while he was at my house, but nothing else needed to be attended to at this time. Bill is a very personable and knowledgeable repairman. He made several helpful suggestions on how to maintain my dryer. It was a pleasure to have him come to my home. I will definitely use Landers again.
