Jim helped me work through the possibilities by text and I decided to not repair because of the cost involved compared to the cost of a new one when this one is 10 years old. He gave me the info I needed to make the decision, even though he didn't get paid for his help! Not the kind of service one usually gets and quite a breath of fresh air. Thanks for wonderful service.

It was a practically brand new dryer and it cost me over $400 to fix it. What choice did I have... I need a dryer. They charge $199 just to tell you what's wrong with it.

Hi Mr. [Member Name Removed], In home service is not cheap. The costs to get a fully trained professional service technician to your door is expensive, no doubt about it. Our service charge to come to your house, determine the problem with an appliance and quote a repair is $119.95. Of course, you are not obligated to do any repairs. That is always your choice. If our technician did not believe it was in your best interest to make the repair, he would have told you so and advised you to replace the dryer. We have a 90-day guarantee on all our repairs that includes a money back addendum that if another problem occurs during the 90-day period we return for free. If the problem had anything to do with the initial problem, we fix it for free. BUT if it is another problem altogether, we assess the problem as if we were finding both issues at the same time and we price the repair accordingly. If the additional repair costs are not worth doing, we will refund all your prior repair money except the service charge. No one in Maryland offers this guarantee! OK. I was not pleased with the none disclosure of the price.
Description of Work: Purchased my own oven handle which was $95.00. When I realized I could not install it myself, I called the same company to install the handle. When I made the appointment they told me it would be a service charge of $119.00 and mostly likely a small fee if they had any issues fixing the handle. While the repair person was fixing the handle I ask him about an additional charges. He said it will be another $110.85 charge. So, the person who installed the handle told me I should have been told about the additional charge and that it was the normal charges for what I had done. I just think that should have been told to me in advance. Not that it would have changed my mine but that l would have know in advance what additional charge to expect. The installer was very nice and courteous. Overall, everyone was nice, I just thought they could have been forthcoming with their pricing structure.

Thanks for calling me back to discuss this matter. If you ever have a question about what any particular repair might cost, please ask to speak to my service manager, Jim. He would be able to ask detailed questions and offer a repair price range to help you in your budgeting. Our customer service reps (CSR’s) are not technical and are unable to give repair costs over the phone., They simply don’t have that level of expertise. As a point of explanation regarding oven door handles, there are handles that require the entire door to be disassembled and there are handles that snap into place and everything in between. As I explained on the phone, I did listen to the recorded conversation. Amy was the CSR who answered your initial phone call and she did advise you that the technician would quote you the repair estimate once he assessed the situation without any reference to a high or low cost. When our technician, Steven arrived he discovered the door had been removed and partially disassembled, with parts and screws spread out. It did take him a bit of time to figure out where everything was and how it all went back together. Any time you have a question about any aspect of our service, don’t hesitate to call and ask for me or any of my managers. We are here to help in any way we can. Excellent. Tech showed up within appointment window, and I was called about 15 minutes before his arrival. Bill, my technician, gave me an overview of my type of washer, then proceeded to check the machine and discovered a smaller plastic cap had lodged underneath the plastic cage that housed the belts and other machinery. I'd explained that I only heard the noise during the wash and rinse cycles, and Bill explained that the weight of the water in those cycles weighted down the drum and made it hit the plastic cap - which had broken through the plastic cage. He ran a full diagnostic test on the washer and said it was in good shape. Machine is about 6 years old, a Kenmore. I was impressed with the price and service, and would definitely hire again.

I bought a brand new Whirlpool after the service person explained that my refrigerator was no good anymore and would cost more to repair it. I found him to be very honest and open about his opinion on what things to look for in a refrigerator. I was extremely pleased. He was very knowledgeable and professional! I would definitely use Landers again!

We needed to have our Bosch condensation dryer serviced, as it would stop during operation, even after restarting. These condensation dryers are notorious for being finicky, especially since lint and "gunk" can get trapped in a million places. We undertook periodic cleaning of all the hidden parts and around the pump, but we were still having problems. We called Landers the morning of May 9, 2019, and within two hours, Dino had arrived at our place! He inspected all the potential problem areas, cleaning where necessary, and tested the pump and evacuation hose at the back. He isolated the problem and took the "culprit part" out to his truck to do an intensive blow-out cleaning. He gave pointers on how to keep future problems with this part at bay. The dryer has been working like a charm ever since.

Needed my stove top ignition system repaired. Landers responded in at timely manner and the scheduling was easy. Bill, the technician, was professional and courteous. The house call cost $120.00. Bill estimated the repair to be an additional $850.00. Thus, the total cost to repair was close to $1000.00. I have since hired another firm (not using Angie's List) who was able to do this for substantially less.

Dear Mr. [Member Name Removed], My service manager Jim spoke to you on the phone on and determined that the sparker on one burner (based on the model # you had given him of GE Monogram ZGU385NSMSS which takes WB13T10077 burner ignitor) was probably the problem. We quoted on the repair without knowing if this would solve the problem and pre-ordered the igniter part. When Billy arrived with the correct part, he found the issue was more pervasive than Jim knew of from the phone conversation. The issue Billy wrote in his notes (and the photo he took of the burner head confirms) was the fact that the screws that hold the igniter sparker's in place were rusted in place and he would have to drill them out and then replace them. The sparker mounts to the burner and he felt that the burner base should also be replaced since they were in very rough shape. He also found the harness that connects the igniter switches (it comes as a set) to the igniters was in poor shape. Our goal in serving our customers is to offer what we think is the best long-term value for the repair. Obviously, we spent time on the phone in trying to help determine the problem but can't know the exact situation until we arrive and inspect the appliance ourselves. Having said that we guarantee our diagnosis so if we have in any way misdiagnosed the problem, we will gladly refund you our service charge. We called Landers and they came promptly as scheduled the next day. The repairman was able to put the glass back in a few minutes. He said that he couldn't promise that it would stay on, but so far it has stayed on. He told us what it would cost if it were to break and that he could order the part if necessary. He only charged the amount of the service call. He was very professional.

The technician was unable to drain the washer on the first visit, although all it took me is 3-minute internet search and putting the drain hose into a bucket to do myslef. Technician was unable to remove the appliance from the rack because he missed one screw holding it. They still charged for the visit even though they did not do anything useful during that visit because of lack of skills and attentiveness.

Dear Mr. [Member Name Removed], I read through the notes, looked at the picture of the homemade rack the washer is mounted on and spoke to both my technician, Dino and service manager Jim about your repair. The complaint was your tenant's Maytag front load washer was noisy and wouldn't drain. My technician, Dino (Master Certified with thirty five years of experience) dealt directly with your tenant as you were not at the house when he was there inspecting the washer. He found the front load washer was sitting on a one half inch plywood base mounted ABOVE the dryer in a homemade two x four wooden frame. The washer was full of water. Dino turned the machine on and could hear the pump making a loud noise which indicated something was either jammed inside and / or defective which would require direct access to the pump in order to determine if we could remove whatever was jamming it or replace the pump if necessary. Dino did attempt to gain access to the pump but was unsuccessful due to the design of the homemade platform. We won't assume responsibility for removing washers (or any product) from homemade platforms and through phone a conversation explained the situation to you, requiring you to remove the unit in order to give us access to complete the repair. Dino collected our service charge of ninety nine dollars and ninety five cents. You called us back once you had the washer removed from the homemade platform and we were able to take the pump apart and remove a metal object jamming the pump impellor. We reassembled and tested the machine and then, using two people, repositioned the machine in your homemade frame. You paid the balance for labor of one hundred and seventy five dollars for a total repair cost of two hundred and seventy four dollars and ninety five cents. . I'm sorry you don't see the value in what we did in order to get your washer back in working order for a very reasonable amount of money. We believe we went above and beyond in order to serve you and your tenants needs. If you are ever dealing with my company and have a question about something we are doing, please call either me or my service manager Jim. They were very helpful and tried to fit in the delivery within our time span. The men who came out, took out the old washer and drier as we agreed. They put in the new one and tested both of them to make sure that it will work properly. The men were very professional and they did it in very short period of time but they gave my wife an instruction on how to use the washer and the dryer.

Great! Sometimes it can be difficult to go through all the back-and-forth of coordinating service for a rental property, but Lander's made it easy. They scheduled the appointment with my tenant, allowed me to give them permission to made repairs up to a certain price point without having to call me in the middle of the service call (which gets tricky) and the work was done on the spot. I almost wish I had more work for them because it was so easy! (Just kidding, but I would definitely use them again.)
