Gretchen Schmidl was the consummate professional from start to finish. She listened to what we wanted, asked all the right questions, didn't judge, and showed great patience. On cleanup day, Gretchen and three others showed up exactly on time, completed the work in the time promised, and did an excellent job. Gretchen did all the hand trimming herself, with a good eye and a gentle touch. She then designed a simple and elegant bed for the area above our parking pad, explained and discussed the plans, and executed them on time and on budget. They also bedded an area that had not been included in the estimate, and did not charge more for the work. I would (and have) recommended Gretchen and the company to anyone.

I spoke to someone at the company and was told that they will contact me the following week to come and see what needs to be done. Never heard back and it has been over a month. Would have been nice if they said right on the spot that they are not interested.

Flower beds and gardens had been unattended for a long time, ivy and weeds had overgrown the backyard, the lawn needed to be redone, and trees had been removed. Richard and Claire provided a landscape plan that vastly improved the appearance of our property and was easy to maintain. The work crew was very competent, polite, and neat and completed the job in a timely manner. We were very happy with the results of their work. In addition, we had a time crunch to get the work done, and they were very accommodating.

For various reasons, we also asked two other companies to do the same thing. The other designs were from landscape architects and cost $1,000 apiece. They each had somewhat different takes on the problem, but the design from Azaleas to Zinnias was as about as good as either of the others and cost absolutely nothing. Not only that, but the designers' plans have now been submitted to contractors to bid on. So far, with one bid received, Azaleas to Zinnias bid for the work is exactly the same. So overall, their design would cost $1,000 less to execute since the design was free.

Azaleas to Zinnias came up with an interesting suggestion about how to work the drain pipe so that it drained out into the yard without flooding an area about which I was concerned. They performed the work quickly and used top-quality materials. The job required burying two 4" PVC for 25", including under our front walk. They used a pop-up drain cap so it is flush with the lawn. We have weathered two substantial rains with no problems.

This is a great company to deal with. Nice people, they showed up as scheduled to give me an estimate and to do the work. They did a really outstanding job...beyond my expectations. They will be the first ones I call in the future.

Claire was the landscape architect that I worked with. She put together a plan with a large variety of shade loving plants that would bloom from spring through fall. She was great about including work I had already done on my own and suggested some enhancements to it which rounded out what I had started. She coordinated the patio and pathway project with the stonemason and the creation of our unique potting shed with the carpenter. Since our work was completed last fall this spring has been a joy to see the plan come to life. It is everything I had hoped for. I learned so much about what was planted from Claire's expert advice. I enjoy gardening and was apprehensive about utilizing a landscape firm but in the end I believe that Claire and the team at A to Z created my garden oasis in a few weeks, in what would have taken me years to envision, saving me money in buying the plants that work in our space. I give them my highest recommendation.

This company is really impressive. They work hard, come prepared and on time, and are wonderfully efficient. The first day, they sent 9 men to work all day. Everyone was polite, and some were absolutely delightful. These are true professionals. Several of the guys were studying horticulture--and the company was sending them to school. All native English speakers. They have a knowledgeable and very pleasant designer who listens very well. I am a very experienced gardener, and both the designer and job supervisor welcomed that and we worked well together. They knew and appreciated my specimen plants, and my landscape. In two days they accomplished more than I expected, and I will be sure to hire them again.

THESE GUYS ARE ALWAYS DEPENDABLE. THEY SHOW UP WHEN PROMISED AND ARE UNFAILING POLITE AND NEAT. THEY HAVE DONE SPRING AND FALL CLEAN-UPS EACH YEAR SINCE WE MOVED TO BALTIMORE.
