 + -1 moreWe had a great experience at Yi's. They have a tremendous amount of fabric choices available. We selected a fabric that wasn't in stock and has to be ordered. It took exactly how long they said it would to get the fabric and make the cushion. The final product is a perfect fit and it looks and feels great.

I plan to have it done no matter what because the chair is very comfortable. Years ago I had upholstery done by Yi's and was very pleased with the several pieces I had done. I just had forgotten that I had used them before.

 + 0 moreI emailed photos of the chairs in the morning and had a written quote within a few hours with a price of labor per chair and a material's cost. In my initial email I requested how much fabric I would need and they let me know how many yards to bring with me for the job. I called Yi's to discuss the job further and arranged to drop the chairs off the following Saturday. Yi's staff was very helpful and the work was done VERY quickly. They said it would take a week or two but the chairs were done much sooner than that (one week). The work was VERY good. I am very happy with the quality. My chairs were also a bit wobbly when I dropped them off and they tightened up all of screws making the chairs more sturdy. I purchased the fabric at GStreet Fabrics down the street because they were having a sale at the time. The shop is full of fabric books if you care to purchase fabric directly from Yi's though. The cost was a bit higher than I would have liked but Yi's Upholstery was only $5/chair more than another quote I received. So Yi's does charge the market rate for reupholstery (which I still find a bit high). I will take my next job to Yi's because they do good work, complete the work promptly, and charge the market rate.
Description of Work: I had six wood and fabric dining room chairs reupholstered. The chairs had an upholstered seat and back (wrap around back - i.e., two sides of upholstery). Yi's Upholstery also replaced the foam in each chair. The price was $125/chair plus $30 for new foam in each chair. Note - I brought fabric with me.

 + -1 moreI had a 100 year old chair that needed re-upholstering, so I took it to other places for estimates before going to Yi's. Most other places came back with a $1,200 price tag which I was not going to pay considering that it is a small chair and that only the seat and back needed to be upholstered. I took the chair to Yi's and were amazed at the selection of fabric. I already had fabric (from Calico Corner - not cheap), but chose one of their's instead because it was so much nicer. They not only upholstered my chair, but they also went ahead and fixed the chair to improve stability. I really appreciated that extra service which they did not charge. The price at $500 was hard to beat. The chair came out beautifully and is now a focal point in our house. No wonder Yi's is rated very highly. I would definitely go there again!
Description of Work: Re-upholster a small chair (seat and back). It's not quite a dining chair, but a formal chair that a guest would sit in 100 years ago.

 + 0 moreI was extremely pleased from beginning to end, it was a complicated job with 13 disparate chairs from Victorians to a very old delicate floral inlay chair which needed serious surgery of a leg at the hip. Also an all-mahogany cane seat chair and many more styles. They were efficient, cheerful, patient and fully professional andwered the phone and returned calls promptly. I highly recommend Yi's Upholstery and will use them again as I wasn't able to afford all I wanted to do. Description of Work: I was on the rebound from a very bad experience with another company and Yi's was a strong recommendation on Angies' list.They repaired and/or re-upholstered 13 chairs, from Victorians, to a very old floral inlay chair, a cane seat chair and others. They were prompt to come for an estimate when the previous company I hired wasn't not going to work out for many reasons. They evaluated each chair in detail on site at my house and took photos of the chairs, before giving a detailed estimate and excellent description of the individual chairs so there would be no misunderstand about which fabrics and colors belonged where and what work was going to be done... They were graciously willing to adjust the order if I changed my mind about which items to proceed with and which fabrics and colors to choose and their respective merits as well as explaining clearly what needed to be done. They provided friendly service and were prompt to return calls. They were patient since it was a tall and complicated order and responded quickly to any questions I had about fabrics. They were even willing to recover chairs with their original springs, horsehair stuffing and muslin when found in good condition . They went beyond the call of duty to make my experience a happy one and most importantly came well ahead of schedule. Kay Lezanko was magnificent. I recommend them heartily and will use them again.  + -1 moreYi's is not the place for amateur decorators. The owners/staff are cordial but offer very little or no help. Between the numerous fabric books, fabric bolts and the rows of hanging samples of fabrics, the selection is overwhelming. I'm sure this is a great place for designers or someone with a lot of time to look for just the right color, fabric, etc., but for someone new to the task I wished Yi's staff had offered more advice and suggestions. If they had, I probably would have made my purchase there. Instead, I went to Calico Corners which has a more limited (but diverse enough) selection of fabrics but offers great assistance.

 + 0 moreI took my chair to them for measuring and requested that I be able to take the chair home with me then. I wanted to paint it and did not want to leave it for a 'fitting.' Their seamstress took measurements, I left and returned a week later to pick up cushions that fit like a glove. Could not have been happier! Well worth the trek from Woodbridge, VA to Rockville, MD for such incredible workmanship!
Description of Work: Using fabric furnished by me (purchased when I ordered a new sofa from Lazboy) Yi's made a seat cushion and loose pillow back for an antique wicker rocker. The seat cushion and pillow back fit like a glove and the chair is soooo comfy. I am thrilled to pieces with their work, their customer service, everything about them. I will definitely return if there is ever any other custom upholstery, bedding, window treatments, etc that I need. Although I provided the fabric, I was blown away by the choices they offer. If you can't find it there, it can't be found.

 + 0 moreEmailed the company based on recommendations from Angie's List and gave them the dimensions and my request asked them for an estimate. They e-mailed back promptly and asked for photographs. I sent the photos and they sent the estimate and suggested we come in and look at fabric, if we would like. We went into the store and took the chair and selected fabric from their very large selection. We paid a deposit at that time and were told what the total cost would be. They reupholstered the chair in an even shorter time than they had estimated, and e-mailed and told us it was ready. We picked up the chair and were very pleased with the result, as well as the service and their overall approach and manner. We would definitely use them again, and in fact are in the process of getting an estiimate for another piece of furniture.

 + 0 moreYi's Upholstery Interiors are true furniture magicians! They are the Sofa Whisperers! I purchased a sad, beaten up Duncan Phyfe sofa on Craigslist for $150. The sofa smelled, it was torn up by someone's cat, and the frame was wobbly, but I had big plans. I did some research and came into Yi's with images I found on the internet. No problem! When we dropped off the sofa, we were dropping off not much more than a pile of wood. Yi's had to completely take apart, reglue and reassemble the mahogany frame. On top of that, they restyled the sofa in the way I wanted and reupholstered in a beautiful neutral linen fabric. I COULD NOT be more happy with the results! The price was a bit more than I had expected to put into the sofa, but afterwards it has been worth every penny. This sofa was already 100 years old and will last another 100 years in beautiful condition. On top of that, I have a one-of-a-kind sofa that I would have paid the same amount of money for a reproduction high-end sofa from a furniture store that won't last 10 years. I will absolutely be back next year with some ugly velvet chairs that need some Yi's magic!
