Universal Roofing

Universal Roofing just replaced the roof shingles and gutter system of our house. Throughout the process, Evan (the owner) and his team displayed only integrity and professionalism – something we highly appreciated, particularly, after our experiences during the process of selecting the contractor to conduct this job. A few months ago, my wife and I started this process by doing some research to understand the size and complexity of the work to be done on our roof, and know the exact materials we wanted to have installed. We did before talking to roofers, in order to keep estimates consistent and encourage competitive pricing from them. We contacted our insurance company requesting an inspection of our roof (worn due to age and recent wind storms) – which resulted in our receiving a full report of the inspection and part of replacement estimated cost. Excluding the uninvited agents that knocked at our door, we spoke with seven providers that had local advertising and/or positive reviews on home services websites. Of these, we discarded two due to their high-pressure and too-good-to-be-true marketing tactics; and four other due to their quoting low prices that were revised upwards after we asked them to provide a detailed description of the work they proposed to conduct, the warranties on the job and on roofing materials, and proof of their companies being properly licensed and insured (Note: you could be financially responsible for the lost wages and medical bills of an uninsured contractor injured on your property). Our selection was easy as, from the beginning, only Universal Roofing touched all the bases in a clear and consistent way. Given that it was winter (when contractors have less work) and weather permitted it, the job was completed shortly afterwards by skilled workers that tore-off and hauled-away the old roof and gutters, and installed the new ones.
