I called about an HVAC unit that was not working because it didn't seem to have power to it. The technician arrived and told me it didn't have power and that he couldn't do anything about it. I called an electrician as instructed by the HVAC technician. The electrician came out and said the gas furnace has an emergency shut off switch that was flipped. He flipped the switch and the unit powered back up. I called back ShemTov systems and requested that he not charge me for the visit since he didn't do an adequate job assessing the problem with the HVAC unit. I was told by the company that he showed up, so its $98 regardless. I also mentioned I was an Angie's List member and that there was a 10% discount offer at the time. He informed me that I was not "charged for a credit card charge" so that was about the same discount and would not at the very least offer me 10% off of the $98.

The two men arrived on time. They went to the basement to inspect the A/C unit. They told me I could leave while they work on inspecting the unit. One of them went upstairs to the 2nd floor at some point without letting me know that he needed to check something there. Once I heard someone waling on the 2nd floor and climbed upstairs is when I saw one of them apparently walking with a thermostat, checking the temperature in the rooms. I asked them to check if the A/C unit was working (in the basement) and when they arrived it was still the heating season. He told me that my A/C unit needed more freon, which would be their next thing to do so that the rooms would allegedly be cooler. I realized that they were trying to rip me off. Why? Because the house could not have been even cooled down in less than 15 minutes from the time they shut off the heating and then checked the temperature in the bedrooms upstairs. More importantly, my A/C unit is new and does not use freon at all. I thanked them and said that I would need to think about it. They left the house looking disappointed.

He identified the problem with my heat pump right away - a degraded/aged capacitor that needed changing. Changed it for a reasonable price. Overall, extremely happy. He was clean (kept shoe covers on inside the home) and very efficient.

Hanan climbed up and checked all the ducts for connections and duct integrity (we were having a lot of dust and I was concerned mice had chewed thru the ducts). But everything was tight. I just need to have the ducts cleaned and replace filters more often. A great relief!

I have used Shem Tov systems on multiple occasions and have been extremely satisfied with all aspects of their service. Great experience working with them all around, we have used them multiple times now and have referred them to others as well. They are very polite, take care to keep your space clean, and keep you informed of the whole process. They are there when they say they will be and are easy to work with, very friendly, reasonably priced and honest. They are our go to guys for anything HVAC related.

I have been using them for the past few years. I think for the check-up they needed to change some filters and look for a leak and I think it took them several hours. The workers were responsive and professional. They left the area mostly clean. I would say that was a B and not an A. I don't remember anything in particular they didn't clean up at this point.

It couldn't have gone better. They were prompt, honest, pleasant. I was thinking about getting a more expensive system, and they recommended a cheaper one that (they said, and I have confirmed since it has been installed) would be just as effective, saving me money. Job was done well and rapidly, and I have absolutely no complaints. Highly recommended.

It went very well. They arrived on time and finished their work in about one hour.
