We hired Michael McClellan to help us with a leaky roof and basement over the course of 2 years. Our house still leaks today. He replaced the roof and supposedly the gutter but all the work, especially the gutter, was done very poorly. He used the cheapest possible material and the gutter was not even securely attached to the side of the house. It was just pasted on with a little cement. It quickly became completely detached. All our neighbors have beautifully done gutters. When I asked Michael why our gutters didn't look as nice as our neighbors he said that they used 'old' materials that you can't find anymore (?!?!) After spending $7000 on the roof, it continued to leak. Michael did come back to our house to take us up on the roof. He said the roof And gutter were 100% good and couldn't possibly be the cause of the leak. He blamed it on water coming from the neighbors roof riding down the beams into our house. Finally, during a heavy downpour, we could clearly see that our leak is due to a gutter issue (the same gutter we paid Michael) to fix. We are planning to find a new person to fix the issue. Other interior work we had done (painting, fixing drywall) was also very poorly completed. Even a simple job of filing in nail holes was left with big globs of plaster on the walls. He didn't even bother to sand it down nicely. Do not hire this guy. It will be a waste of money. He clearly has no idea what he is doing and his workmanship is shoddy and of the poorest quality.

This contractor (Mike McClellan) was recommended to us by a realtor involved in our recent home purchase. He walked through the property with us and gave us verbal estimates as to the costs involved in constructing a roof extension as well as interior renovations. We gave him a $1000 deposit as well as $1200 for plans to be drawn. He signed a cost plus contract with us and began work on the interior renovations. After a few weeks, no plans were seen and he always gave us excuses such as, "I forgot them", whenever we asked. He then later told us that he had submitted them directly to the local authority with the permit applications. This was strange as we had not seen or approved these plans for work to be done on OUR house. McClellan continued to take checks from us on a weekly basis for the interior remodelling. He continually told us that there were delays with the local authority issuing the permits but could not tell us what was causing the delays. Finally, we checked ourselves and found that no permit applications had been filed. When confronted, McClellan told us that he was not licensed due to an unpaid $4600 tax bill and was not authorized to work on our property. We paid out a total of about $15000 for poor quality work. Lots of separate jobs inside the house were started, half done, but never finished. It is apparent that McClellan stretched out the interior work to continue taking weekly checks from us, knowing that he was never able to complete the roof extension. We now have to find a legitimate contractor to finish the work on our house to complete the interior renovations and the roof extension. This involves a lot of time and expense that we cant afford. DO NOT USE THIS MAN AS HE IS DISHONEST AND INCOMPETENT.
Description of Work: Drawing plans of the property regarding a roof extension. Completing interior renovation work as directed by us. Filing permit applications with the local authority for the roof extension. Building the aforementioned roof extension. Arranging for inspection after completion.
