I was quoted $85 for dryer vent cleaning for up to 10'. When the guy came he told me that I needed 30+ feet for the dryer only and that would be $540. As I refused, the price kept going down to even $180 for the the dryer and the entire house. By then, I knew I could not trust this person but I agreed to have him clear the dryer vent on the outside for the original price. He must have been there for 5 minutes max and he left and when I went to check I found that he had ripped the protective vent cover and trashed the vent outlet. I am disgusted with this company and I am sure when inspected I will find that he did next to nothing. They may claim that the vent was like that but I had looked at it 2 days before and it was not broken.

Terrible. It took me two-plus years to resolve the problems with the inadequacy of Quality Air Services' work (including their subcontractor). (August 11, 2014 to March 3, 2017) For the first year after installation I could not heat the living room/dinning room area. In the end, I SETTLED for duct tape and added insulation, rather than go to the County Consumer Affairs Office and paying again to have my FCUs correctly installed. QAS subcontracted a painting company to do the framing in addition to the drywall work. Instead of using sheet metal to craft the required extension sleeves, they vertically stacked metal studs with holes in them. When the gap between the unit and the wall was wider than the number of studs used, a gap occurred, sometimes several inches wide. Fortunately my gaps were less egregious than those of other owners. The ultimate solution was to duct taped every possible opening around my units--hardly a professional job. Most of the other owners in the building are unaware that this could and should be done. In addition, QAS mounted the thermostat in such a way that heated air from the unit blew directly onto the back of the thermostat -- contrary to the manufacturer's instruction to avoid installing the thermostat near heat generating appliances. The unit in the living room/dinning rooms only cycled on for 20 to 60 seconds, hardly enough time to heat the living room on cold days even though I set the temperature at the maximum setting (88 degrees). The HVAC company (highest rating on Angie's List) I consulted measured the wall temperature at the thermostat at 100 degrees when the room temperature was in the mid-60s. QAS plugged the hole in the FCU where the thermostat wires enter the unit by placed insulation in and around the gap between the thermostat and the unit. This meant the thermostat could function as it should, albeit with my still setting the thermostat temperature in the low 80s in the winter to achieve a room temperature of 72 degrees. A remote thermostat was not an option given the model of FCU installed. QAS clearly does not understand the science of air flow and heating and cooling, and was unequipped to handle complicated installations of stackable fan coin units in a condominium. It took them a year-plus to identify the problem with the thermostat in the living room/dining room. Before that, QAS just replaced the thermostat four or five times. I uncovered the source of the problem around the same time by consulting an online engineering advice group. The other HVAC company I eventually engaged identified the thermostat problems before even opening up the thermostat. I don't know any of the 81 Owners who contracted with QAS that were pleased with there experience. Most just settled for the inferior work and the erratically functioning fan coil units. I hung in for two-plus years and settled for patching the poor installation problems, enduring continuous correspondence along the way. I do want to compliment Oleg Shvyrev who was tasked with working on my fan coin units. He is very professional and skilled in the work he was trained on. He was always very pleasant to work with, unlike many of individuals at Quality Air Services.
Description of Work: Installed two stackable Daikin HiLine Fan Coin Units in the Elizabeth Condominium. My units were behind the walls necessitating drywall work. Because the Daikin FCUs were smaller than the 40-year-old McQuay units, the QAS needed to install field-supplied extension sleeves for both the return and supply air openings, per the Installation Manual. The former management company selected Quality Air Services to do the work, although the owners contracted separately with QAS. In all, 81 of the Elizabeth's 340 or so owners executed individual contracts with QAS.

THE WORST. Hire anyone else. I've hired Quality Air a few times, because I had to. I live in a large high rise and Quality Air knows our building and systems best. I first hired them a few years ago to replace two convector units. The units functioned well until the usually hot summer of 2016 hit and one unit developed a condensation problem so I quickly called Quality Air for help. I had to wait 2.5 weeks for them to come out to provide a price, then waited another 2 weeks for them to fix the issue which happened to be items they shoulda-woulda-coulda addressed when these units were initially installed years prior (things like adding insulation, properly sealing drip pans, etc). Hire anyone else, they are terrible to work with. I was most disappointment by their lack of urgency. Our building has over 300 Units so given the large amount of business directed to Quality Air from this building I expected to receive service within a week or two. Waiting over a month for a service request I found to be completely unreasonable.

It went fine. It took multiple visits, since some of the units needed to be adjusted after initial installation. The installers were professional, on time, and conscientious. The office (Vicki and Olga) was very helpful re scheduling, billing, answering questions, etc.

The crew was punctual and worked consistently to completion. The office staff at Quality Air were very responsive. Oleg, a project manager, met with the drywall company team promptly in the morning to ensure the work was coordinated with the needs of the new system. Oleg came back in the afternoon and the following morning t o check progress on the work. This made ensured a satisfactory result for all involved.
Description of Work: Replaced the heating and cooling system in my condo. This meant tearing out and replacing a large HVAC unit in my living room and a convector in my bedroom. The job took two days. In addition, the company sent a manager to meet with the drywall contractor who rebuilt the walls around both units.

Unsatisfactory experience. Company representative arrived one hour early and asked that I accommodate the schedule change. I left work, still arriving home 10 minutes before scheduled appointment and was asked "why did you keep me waiting so long"? Upon conclusion of inspection and rep's commitment to providing a quote within 48 hours I never heard from company again; I called the company's number and the rep's cell number, left messages, but have not received any response either by phone or email. I do not recommend using this company for HVAC maintenance or replacement services.

Description of Work: The gentleman was on time and he had all the equipment but only one person came out. I had to ask why he didn't do the ceiling vents and he then said " oh that's not included in the price". He then missed a couple more regular vents even though I was helping him take off vents. He was nice enough but didn't do a thorough job.

Horrible service and arrogant company owner. After two visits to my home to examine the existing equipment and a signed contract specifying equipment to be replaced, contractor arrived at my home without the one of the required two convector units. I had contacted the Quality Air staff by voice and email asking about the timing and made it clear that I intended to be at home when the contractor was in my unit. Quality Air accepted my deposit and scheduled the job 10 days in advance. I adjusted my work schedule to be at home. When technician Vladimir arrived, and we began to discuss the job, he said that he was not aware that he needed to bring a second unit. I immediately showed him the contract. No one at Quality Air checked the contract to ensure that the company had the equipment. This is not what I woud expect from a company with a contract for nearly $4000. If they had led let me know in advance advance, I would have rescheduled the full-day job and gone to work, since installing the second unit at another time would have cost me another day from the office. When I contacted company owner, Mark Goldsman, while Vladimir waited in my condominium, the company wasted more of my time. I offered to wait for them to bring the convector from the warehouse, thinking that they had forgotten it. At least this would not cost me another workday and more nights without functional convectors with the temperature in the low forties. Goldsman was extremely rude and disrespectful. As it turns out, the Quality Air staff demonstrated complete disorganization and incompetence. No one had even ordered the part and no one informed me that it was unavailable. At that point, I told Goldsman that I expected compensation for my missed workday if Quality Air's carelessness would cost me a second day away from the office. He continued his condescending and disrespectful treatment. First, he offered me $25 dollars for a and quot;gift dinner.and quot; At this point, I began to wonder if he would have tried to offer a male client a “gift” or treat him in such a condescending manner. Goldsman then acted as if the wasted day as somehow my fault, since the contract did not require me to be at home. Despite planning with his staff and changing my schedule based on what they said, he claimed I made a and quot;choiceand quot; not required by the contract. Apparently bringing the proper equipment on the agreed-upon day is a and quot;choiceand quot; to be made by the contractor. I never offered to leave them access to my keys, since I want to be present when contractors work in my condominium. After wasting an additional hour on the phone, Goldsman offered me a and quot;giftand quot; of $100, far less than the value of even half a workday. When I declined and asked that my Quality Air immediately return my deposit, he demanded that I provide a letter about and quot;my choiceand quot; to be at home when they arrived without the agreed-upon equipment and my decision to terminate the contract and my plans to use another vendor. I see this arrogance as a request as some sort of cover for Quality Air's incompetence. Goldsman claimed that, since his staff have and quot;not even cut a pipe, and quot; they were not responsible for my time and “choice” to be present when strangers work in my home. I will definitely not agree to any letter to cover for Quality Air. I told Goldsman that I would make this incident known to my condominium office and community. Do not waste your time with this company.

Response from Quality Air Services
Dear (Removed members name) In your case, we sent our project manager to your condominium unit multiple times free of charge because we wanted to ensure that we would be able to properly perform each change to the original proposal requested by you and that there would be no problems once the work starts. You did not seem to mind taking time off work for us to perform the multiple inspections. We even informed you that when it comes to the installation date, you do not have to be home. Our company is licensed, bonded and insured and most residents just opt to leave an admission slip for the date of installation. On the scheduled date for installation, our technician was only able to bring one convector due to a misunderstanding between him and a new employee. The other specialty unit was still in transit from the factory to our office and was not available on the day of installation. Acknowledging our mistake, we tried very hard to settle an agreement in regards to installing the convector and compensating you for your trouble. However, you became very distraught and did not want us to proceed with any of the contracted work in your condominium unit. At your brash request we ordered the technicians to leave your condominium immediately. During the initial hour-long conversation you had with Mark Goldsman, the owner of QAS, you repeatedly demanded that we refund your deposit immediately. Therefore, we promptly refunded your deposit that same day, as well as sent a letter notifying you that we no longer wish to work with you. Also, during that conversation, you persistently threatened to slander Quality Air Services reputation in your building and attempted extort an additional $500 for “wages lost by you missing a day of work”. He did not succumb to your threats and attempts at extortion, as he found no reasonable grounds or any sort of justification for giving you the $500, especially when the choice to miss a day of work was made by you and was never requirement of QAS. Mark remained extremely calm and tried to come to some other reasonable resolution, however, the situation remained unresolved. The following day you called our company again continuing your efforts at extortion of the $500, even after we refunded your full deposit and notified you that we will not be performing any work at your unit. Quality Air Services personnel apologize for the inconvenience and disturbance caused to you by our miscommunication. Through our 15 years of existence, it is Quality Air Services policy to stand firmly behind the fairness and good quality of our work. It is also our policy not to leave unpleasant situations, like this one, unresolved or unattended. We do our best to provide our customers with the best service possible, since most of our customer base are obtained through word of mouth and heavily depends on our good reputation. It is unfortunate that this situation was blown completely out of proportion; especially for work we have not even performed. Sincerely, Your friendly staff at Quality Air Services

Like I said, I expected the bill to be $89.00, but I don't consider the actual price of $95.00 to be significantly greater. In short, it went splendidly. They required no instruction, as soon as they recognized the unit, they came straight in, knew exactly what I had described and did the very thing I would have done had I had my own equipment. They cleared the small piece of drain line between my lobby floor condo unit and the drain pipe in the garage with a specially-designed pressure pump device, confirmed that it was cleared, tested it with enough water to be sure, reassembled the cooling unit and courteously dismissed themselves, indicating that the company would send a bill. Where other contractors had seemed surprisingly confused about what I was asking and requested peculiar activities in advance of the visit, or even cancelled without doing any work, these guys were top notch. I was stunned that a great many more companies wouldn't beg to make a reasonable wage on such an easy job, but it was difficult to find someone to whom it was a trivial matter. It was no challenge for these technicians, who marched in cleared the line and verified it inside of what must have been no more than twenty minutes.
Description of Work: Cleared the condenser drain line on my fan coil "convector" unit. I originally quoted a price of $89.00 because that's more or less "the going rate," but in the end it turned out to be $95.00 -- I don't consider $6 higher to be significantly greater, so I'm upgrading their price rating from N/A to A.

I have been searching for a while for anyone in the DC/MD/VA area who works or replaces these convector units. Long story short this is the ONLY company who has the correct licensing/insurance to do the job. The price is what it is. I thought it was high until I found one company who was $1000.00 higher just because they do not replace them that much. They were very prompt in giving an estimate, contract, and scheduling. They are very busy, and you can tell by the ladies who answer the phone. The techs were great, they were efficient, on time, clean, polite, and very professional. I would use them again. they seem to known what they are doing. If you live in DC/MD/VA and you have a convector - chances are you will have to use them. They do good work, you will be happy with the outcome.
