We got 3 estimates for repair of our 18-year old brick front steps and walls. Paul’s estimate was the middle of these, but he was the only person who struck us as a genuine craftsman rather than primarily a salesman, to distinguish between cosmetic and functional problems, and to educate us about sealing vs not sealing brick and about how to handle the problem of winter ice melt damaging the surface. He was also a helpful and gracious person to have around us. He did a perfect job matching the bricks that were replaced, and he came for both the estimate and the work just when he said he would. His wife works with him on the scheduling side of the business. They are both delightful people with unmatched integrity and skill. Very grateful to have been able to work with them.

Description of Work: Paul did an excellent and professional job repointing and reseating a number of the pieces of flagstone in our flagstone walk that had been loose and or wobbly. He replaced all of the crumbling mortar and recommended a sealant that once we applied kept the walk looking beautiful throughout the rest of the spring, summer and through the fall. Great job, and in several years if we need future work we won't hesitate to have Paul back.

He gave a detailed assessment of the project, was courteous, provided Old World craftsmanship and quality work. And was priced appreciably below the four other prominent masonry/repointing companies who bid. He is Fantastic, Seriously!
Description of Work: In every phase of re-pointing the brick walls of our Capitol Hill row house, Mr. Dabkowski EXCEEDED our every expectation.

Paul reset stoop railings, replaced broken bricks, re-pointed all mortar on stoop and fixed disheveled flagstones on walk. He's all business and exhibits a wonderfully old-fashioned honest work ethic. He is very precise in his work and likes to start very early, beginning work quietly by 6 a.m., saving the noisy aspects until after 7. In fact, he was so quiet, I only realized he had started because our kitty was glued to the window, watching. :-) He goes above and beyond what was expected. We would definitely hire him again. I especially appreciated his making the new mortar match the color of that on rest of our 1930s house - it doesn't look "just done". The work took two days - one to grind out old mortar and let all dry thoroughly; then one to do rest of work. He even came back a third morning to thoroughly clean up and check that all was in order. Very impressive!
Description of Work: Five-step, brick front stoop and two wrought iron railings were in need of repair.

Paul did an outstanding job from start to finish. He did an excellent job matching the brick color to my house, especially considering that the old style bricks aren't available anymore. The finished brick work looks absolutely beautiful! he even agreed to repair some wood areas behind the brick that needed to be fixed. It's great to find a contractor that takes pride in their workmanship.
Description of Work: I contacted Paul Dabkowski to obtain an estimate on replacement of brick on the front of two areas on my house (one surrounding garage). Besides the good price, I was also impressed by the fact that Paul had done an outstanding job replacing brick work on my mother's chimney the year before
