I'm a wheelchair user and typically am not crazy about having strangers doing work in my home- no more! Ferny Leal and his assistant are wonderful. They showed up on time, spread out tarps to avoid a mess (even though the job was relatively small), and performed exceptional work in a very timely manner. Ferny was diligent in making sure that everything was level, at the exact hight and placement that I wanted, and was securely attached. His and his assistant's exacting standards are far above any other workmen I've used previously. They take real pride in doing the job right and in satisfying their client; they are true professionals. Just as impressive as the quality of Ferny's work is his courteousness; he and his assistant are people you are happy to welcome into your home. I will definitely use them for all of my future projects and I feel very confident recommending them to others!

I was left very satisfied with Mr. Leal's services, both in terms of thoroughness but also his willingness to communicate. His strong suit is his desire to communicate clearly what problems he finds and demonstrate them to you so you don't feel that you're being taken advantage of. For example, when he removed our ceiling fan, he clearly demonstrated that the unit itself was defective and also traveled to the hardware store to purchase a replacement. I don't think many other handymen would go to that trouble. He also not only replaced the one bathroom tile, but removed the whole row and replaced them one-by-one to ensure they looked right. Again, this was an attention to detail that made me feel more comfortable with his work. Ferny doesn't charge by the hour, but prices by the job. His prices may seem high at first, but when you consider that he will take as long as he needs to get the job done, then you soon realize that this actually plays to your favor. Overall, I'd say he is highly recommended.

Project went well. Went beyond what was expected by creating wood platforms for the shed to sit on. Very nice, responsive and professional!!!!!!

Mr. Leal returned my call immediately, made an appointment for a free estimate and arrived on time. He was courteous and knowledgeable. He honored his estimate even though the job was a little more involved than we thought (requiring him to make another trip to replace wood trim and repaint). His work was beautiful and he left the work space cleaner than he found it. He also did a few additional jobs that weren't on the estimate (replacing a shower faucet) for a fair price. I would hire him again in a heartbeat.

I would recommend Ferney Leal 100%. He came to the apartment for an estimate within a day of my first call, quoted a reasonable figure (comparable to another quote I had received), scheduled a date for the work, came as promised, did everything exactly as requested and to a high standard, and left everything very neat. Throughout the process it was easy to contact him by phone or e-mail. He is a very pleasant person and I felt comfortable to have him perform work in my apartment while I was away. I will definitely call him again.

I contacted Ferney on a Wednesday afternoon and left a message. First thing the next morning (Thursday) his assistant called me back. We discussed the job and she suggested a date and time for Ferney to come out and provide an estimate. She stated Ferney could come out on Sunday--I have never had a contractor offer to come out on a Sunday. So, we set up the estimate for the Sunday. Later that same morning (Thursday), Ferney himself called me to apologize for not getting back me the same day I called! While Ferney was tardy to the estimate appointment, he called shortly before the time of the appointment to let us know he was running late. He was very thorough in asking questions and providing suggestions on the work to be performed. My husband had his own views on the drywall work that needed to be done, but agreed Ferney's suggestions were the better course. Ferney and his team were there the following Wednesday to complete the work--yes, within a week of my initial contact, the job was done. They did an excellent job, including clean up and painting. My husband was impressed with the amount of work they did, for the price. Ferney was very courteous, responsive and professional. We highly recommend him, and he has been one of the best contractor experiences we have had in DC.

Mr. Leal and his crew showed up exactly when he said they would and finished the job on time. They cleaned up as they went along and at all times he and his crew was very professional.

Our ceiling fan fell from the ceiling and I called around 10 different places and Ferney was the only one who responded immediately. He came, gave us an estimate and performed services. They were very clean and covered all our furniture up. They even returned when we told them our downstairs ceiling fan started making funny sounds and didn't charge us anything for the second visit. They are great. We are considering doing some remodeling in our home with this company!

Mr. Leal and his associate worked with my schedule to complete the task. They assembled the three pieces of furniture at my home while I was at work. They did not require any supervision. The assembly was completed perfectly and they left my condo in wonderful condition (no boxes or anything left behind).

Mr. Leal worked around my work schedule and completed the job in 3 days. He did a great job and I would utilize his services again, as well as recommend his work to others. He was running late one day (bad traffic in DC) and called to make me aware. I thought that was very professional. His prices are reasonable.

Ferney was responsive from the first time I called him to discuss our set of projects (small handyman needs throughout our house); he came to the house to see what we needed and then provided a written estimate within a few days. He was flexible when we said we decided we did not want to do everything that was originally on our list and he was able to quickly arrange a convenient time for him and his coworker to come to our house. While he was a bit late arriving on the day the work was scheduled, he emailed to say he would be late, which was considerate and helpful. They did a great job on the various projects we had on our list. They were fastidious with respect to where and how things were hung and my house was cleaner than when they arrived. Ferney clearly takes each job/task seriously - no matter how small - and takes pride in a job well-done. He was not pleased with how something was hung due to the limitations of where the studs were located in the wall and he showed me his concerns - someone less conscientious would have not brought it to my attention. He also made improvements on a few things, which was terrific. The previous toilet paper roll holders that had come with our house all had pulled out of the dry wall because they were not installed correctly, which is why we were replacing them. He made sure they were installed in a stud so they would not pull out and he also took the time to patch and prime the holes where the previous holders had been hung. My husband, who is very particular about handyman work, came home to see the finished products and said "looks like they did a very good job." I definitely would use Ferney again and recommend him highly.

Everything went very well. Ferney was very meticulous and cleaned up the area once he had finished.

Installation of the cabinet required that the recess be made larger. The work was neat and professional and the cabinet looks beautiful. The site was left clean. Mr. Leal was diligent and hardworking; he was prompt in his estimate and arrived as promised.

Very well. I am very happy with the work he did. They did a great job of protecting the area surrounding the repair and clean up everything prior to leaving. He recommended an up grade for the shut off valve. It works perfectly and will not crack like the other "cheap" valve.

(1) Ferney came out, understood what we wanted, and did it right -- about 10-12 hours work, overall, what with ripout of the leaky wall, rebuilding it, then retiling it. He ripped out the bad work our previous contractor (from 2003) had done, put in Durock instead of sheetrock, and finally cleaned up well. (2) Because job #1 went so well, we had him back a couple weeks later to do job #2. We bought all the new stuff, and he ripped out the old stuff, repaired the wall and tiles as needed, repainted, then installed all the new stuff. He showed up usually about 10-15 min after the appointed hour, which is pretty good for a contractor! We're planning to hire him again for some small carpentry work outside.

I was getting ready to move when when my back screen door broke off its hinges and I didn't have the time to try to fix it myself. I talked to Mr. Leal on the phone one night and he was able to come to my house the next day. He was very nice when I spoke to him over the phone, listened carefully to the description of my problem, sounded eager to help, and his rate seemed reasonable. I called him several times on the phone and had to leave messages a couple of times but he was always quick to return the call. He came to my house and looked at the door, got the parts he needed out of his truck, and replaced all the stripped screws with bigger, stronger ones and the door was as good as new. It only took him about 15 minutes, and when I tried to pay him, he refused the money saying it wasn't necessary to pay him because it was such a fast job. I tried a couple of time to pay him but he still refused. I didn't have any negative expectations when I decided to hire a handyman, but I didn't expect his level of service. If I ever need handyman services again, I would definitely call Mr. Leal again, whether it's a small or big job.

This guy is meticulous, conscience, capable, and very professional. He suggested some refinements that really improved the kitchen and I'm very glad I had that work done.

Mr. Leal took inside and outside measurements, and cut the hole outside and inside the closet exactly as I requested. The hole is exactly square and the drywall cutout was re-purposed as an interior access panel to improve the appearance of the final installation. I am BEYOND pleased. Will certainly use his services again.

He was quick to respond to my initial call and went to give me an estimate. I went with him before checking out other prices since it was a rental property and needed that area cleared quickly.He performed the work exactly when he said. The area he did was done professionally. I wish I had understand the lingo for the length of the fence he was removing since a section was left that I would have rather had removed. It left an exposed, non capped area. It was my misunderstanding.

Excellent, from start to finish. He was prompt and professional for the estimates; followed up on all phone and email contacts; worked efficiently but also very thoroughly. I would recommend him to friends and neighbors in need of any carpentry or home repair service, and hope to hire him for more needs soon.

When we called, he was very warm, responsive, and interested in our business. Ferney worked around our schedule to come and estimate (no charge). Before we called Ferney, we were afraid we might have to juggle multiple contractors; he was happy to do any and all tasks, none too small or too large! He had creative solutions and several times offered less costly options than we had considered--he proactively sought to provide the right value. After we agreed on the list, he again worked to meet our needs and schedule. Everything turned out exactly as he said it would. He clearly takes great pride in his work, values his clients, and is a complete pleasure to work with. We're looking foward to calling him again soon when we are ready for major remodeling.

Ferney is wonderful. He is very talented, creative and has attention to detail. He is punctual, polite and very neat!!!
