Description of Work: Replace 23 year old gas hot water heater (leaky but not dire emergency) with RUUD 10 year warranty 50gallon one. Current code required new chimney liner and b-vent which was done by separate chimney company after new hot water heater was installed.

Description of Work: Once I found the puddle, I cleaned it up and watched for a few minutes. Luckily, I only had a slow leak. I put a bucket underneath and let the landlord know what was going on. She gave me the go-ahead to find someone and get the work done. I didn't want a small problem to turn into a mountain, and Leahy's was the first company with an opening on the same day. I scheduled my appointment for noon. The owner called and asked if the plumbers could come early since they'd had a cancellation. The team of two arrived and began inspecting various rooms. They asked to make a small hole in the wall, letting me know that it was not part of their work to repair the hole. We discussed the best place to make the opening, and they worked from under my kitchen sink, where it would be out of sight. They made a hole roughly six by four inches and found the leak. Then they turned the water off and got right to work. They replaced a section of copper pipe roughly two feet long. It fed both my kitchen and bathroom sinks. The senior plumber on the team blew water through the tiniest pin-hole to show me where the leak was. This was a huge relief! I knew they had found the cause and fixed it. He also suggested that I spray bleach water into the wall while it was open to curb / prevent any mold growth. I asked about using a fan and dehumidifier in the basement, which he strongly encouraged. Getting payment from the landlord to the owner's office was a little chaotic since the team at the house wrote up the invoice. We then had to put the other two in contact with each other to sort out payment. Mr. Leahy seems to have a little more work than he can really handle, but I guess that's a good sign. Sounds like he could use an office worker. In the end, the landlord was able to take the payment over the phone. In all, they spent just under two hours at my house, and Leahy's team left me with a nice dry kitchen and basement!

Description of Work: They dealt with a leak associated with a shut-off valve. They came and made sure that the leak was stopped so it wouldn't mess up the paneling or the floor.

Description of Work: Called Leahy to snake out the basement floor drain that had backed up. Told them it was the sewer line and asked if they were equiped to do that kind of snaking . When the technician came he decided he had to snake out through the toilet above. He removed the toilet and proceeded to snake out the main line. Soon he told me he needed a longer line, (even though I had specifically asked if they were equiped for the work) which meant he had to call and wait for another another tech with a longer line. He snaked out the line , told me it was OK, put the toilet back and explained that since he had to call for extra lines it would be more expensive. I refused to pay close to $500.00 and called LEAHY to say they should have come with the proper equipment form the very beginning. After that the toilet was a bit wobbly and I noticed that the technician had not caulked around the base. I assumed it was a bolt that needed to be tightened and that I could handle the caulking. A few days later my husband and I left on an extended business trip. There was no one in the house and no water use until May 24. When we returned, my husband tried to fix the wobbly toilet. A bolt was missing, which meant the toilet had to be removed again by a plumber because the bolts come through the floor first, and the toilet sits on them ! On Sunday, June 20, the sewer backed up through the floor drain again, but this time with much more force. The snaking by the LEAHY tech had not been thorough and we had to call another company that works on Sundays to do the job. They did not replace the missing bolt either!
