+ -1 moreWe were having most of our house interior painted and carpeted. We had some idea of color schemes, but felt we could use an outside opinion. Jill was available on a per-hour basis within a day or two. She came to our house, bringing her color cards. She listened to our tastes and our ideas, then made polite suggestions. We then bought some paint samples and met with her again. This crystalized our thoughts, generally along the bolder themes she had suggested. Our contractor has nearly finished the work, and the colors and themes look great.

+ 0 moreIt was an unbelievably smooth process. From my initial phone call to Jill to the completion of the installation, all went according to the schedule Jill had created. The window treatments were installed after the painting was completed. The installation was perfect.
Description of Work: Jill assisted me with choosing new window treatments and also helped me choose paint colors for the walls, ceiling and trim. She was more than patient and very, very insightful and creative. With so many choices in fabric, rods, paint colors it can be a difficult project, but Jill made it very easy and I'm very happy with the results and have received many compliments.

+ -1 moreShe seemed like a nice company to work with if you had more money to work with, but she was too expensive. She came out twice. She charges hourly and I wasn't able to afford her services. She was energetic and friendly. She was eager to have a business relationship. Her price was good and reasonable if you have the money. She gave me some good ideas.
Description of Work: I used Jill Designs to pinpoint some wall and carpet colors, which was basically what I wanted.

Description of Work: First, let me say that we had delayed redecorating for a long time because I could not locate an appropriate person. One day, someone gave me Jill's name. It was the best thing that could have happened. She has great taste, works very professionally, and listens. In August 2009, we asked Jill to come to the house to advise on window treatments for the dining room. She worked with us to choose a fabric and then proceeded to suggest a design. The session went quickly. I then asked her to take a look at the living room. I indicated what problems I saw, including a chair that was not in a fabric and color I liked. She went to work again, and in very little time had suggested a new exciting fabric for the chair, new pillows for the sofa, and reupholstery for yet another chair. She worked very quickly and also very carefully, weighing her decisions and seeking our input and collaboration. The drapes and the items for the living room were all delivered in October. They are all absolutely extraordinary: lovely designs, elegant fabrics, gorgeous colors. We couldn't have been more grateful and pleased. She then came back and we chose fabric and design for the living room window treatments--this time drapes for one spot, and roman shades for 3 additional windows, plus some silhouette blinds. These were installed the second week of December--again absolutely gorgeous, elegant, warm, dressy. Jill returned today to check the installation and take photos.

+ 0 moreShe was fine. She is just like a consultant. She did not do the installation of the blinds. She did not do the upholstery either as she referred us to somebody else for that work. I went with her because she was a good consultant with colors and design. She brought all of her supplies with her. She did not do the work but she did the recommendations.
Description of Work: Jill Designs measured the blinds and ordered them for us. She also chose the color and the fabric for our 2 chairs.

She was extremely friendly, listened to what I wanted and was very patient as we went through fabrics and designs. She was easy to work with and struck a balance between what I had in mind and her professional opinion. The final product was amazing--exceeded my expectations. I was shocked at how much they transformed the rooms, everything feels finished now. The material and craftsmanship are gorgeous, so I couldn't be more happy!

The job consisted of a full redesign of a family room and consultations on kitchen counters and lights for the family room, kitchen, and dining room. She worked within my budget (about $25,000 for everything) and gave me a lot of value for my money. In addition to designing the room, she recommended excellent contractors to do the actual work. Jill is very knowledgeable about materials and other construction related aspects of a renovation/remodel. It was especially helpful to be able to discuss the pros and cons of different kinds of counter tops, window treatments, floor coverings, and other materials throughout this process.
Description of Work: I hired Jill Designs/Jill Kahn to consult on a remodel of a family room and minor work on the adjoining kitchen. Jill was wonderful to work with. She listened to my likes and dislikes in interior design, advised on paint, lights, floor coverings, furniture and window treatments. She designed a beautiful room that is decorated in warm colors and has a friendly and comfortable atmosphere. She was able to come up with creative touches that gave the room a truly finished look.

Jill has a great sense of color and style and was able to give me a short list of workable wall colors, as well as helped me select terrific blinds for the renovated office, which was formerly a garage. She suggested putting in a new window and was helpful with ideas about built ins. I am very happy with the Siena Clay color we chose for the walls and the blinds are perfect. The price quoted is mostly the blinds, and her hourly rate for decorating consulting is very reasonable. Jill is delightful and very responsive.

+ -1 moreJill immediately responded to my initial inquiry. She was very accommodating with my schedule, by setting up a weekend appointment. She made recommendations on window treatments and the best method to install the window treatment across the three windows. After the order was placed, the installer came to measure. Window treatments were ready ahead of schedule and installed on time. Jill, as well as the installer were professional and prompt. The installation was completed in less than one hour. The window treatments look great and are very easy to use. I am very satisfied with the service and window treatments.
Description of Work: Ordered custom window treatments for a very large window (appx 10 X 29) separating living space from balcony. With the size of the area to cover, I was mostly concerned about insulation during the winter months. There were essentially three large windows side by side. Middle window was sliding glass door to balcony.

+ -1 moreI received a partial delivery and installation of some valances and all shades and bedspread on March 8, 2008, 4 to 6 weeks, you do the math. The bed spread was not what we ordered it cost $1000.00. I received the rest of the valances on April 3 2008. Again, you do the math on the initial 4-6 week promise. During this whole time there was little communication and when there was Jill always had an excuse; never was it her fault always someone else's. She was elusive at all times and the only time she came by was to get another check. She would bring her children with her and ask if it was OK; they watched TV while she presented me with another bill. The experience, to be kind, was bad and expensive.
Description of Work: On 12/15/2007, I had a meeting with Jill Kahn of Jill designs about replacing some window treatments in my home. It included 11 window valances and six window and door shades and one king bed spread. Her estimate was over $12000.00. I thought it was a little over priced but she assured me her work was superior to others. On December 15, 2007, I gave her a check for $2300.00 as down payment. She said at that time the valances would take 4-6 weeks for delivery and installation. The blinds and bed spread would take less time On DEC. 18, 2007 she came buy and said she needed $3300.00 more to proceed with the job. I wrote her a check On 12-27 2007 she came buy and needed $350.00 to proceed with the bed spread. I wrote her a check.

+ -1 moreExcellent experience. Jill and I met several times and were able to review and discuss selections. She was very open on the cost impacts of changes and alternatives to selection. After the order was submitted it arrived on time and the installer was able to install it at my schedule. I am very satisfied with the installed blinds.
Description of Work: Selection, fitting and installation of window treatments, vertical blinds, for a newly purchased condo. The new unit has approximately 60 linear feet of 8 foot high windows and sliding doors. Jill came to the unit with a wide selection of window treatment alternatives and we worked together to select material, color and style that fit each rooms use and requirements. Jill had her installer come to the unit prior to submitting the final order to verify all measurements.

+ -1 moreJill came to our house to get a sense of what we needed and what our price range was. She was very easy to work with and has made lots of good suggestions throughout the process. She brings fabric samples, paint colors and pictures of furniture to our meetings and always has a range of options on hand. She took us to a design store to help pick out furniture after she had narrowed down some choices for us. We're just about finished now and we love the results. We could never have done this without her. She has a great eye for color and did a good job of learning our tastes. We were also very happy with the work of all of the contractors she recommended.
Description of Work: Jill helped us do a complete overhaul of our living room and dining room. This included: buying new furniture, recovering some existing furniture, choosing paint colors, choosing and ordering window treatments, recommending a carpenter for built-ins, recommending an electrician, and recommending a painter. (We're including in the cost of the project not just what we paid Jill, but also what we paid the contractors she recommended).
