 + -1 moreThe roofer, Choy, called a day before with a VERY timely opening in a month where it seemed all other roofers were overbooked due to wet weather. Choy was professional and punctual. He came out on a weekday morning and assessed the leak from inside and out (it wasn't actively leaking at the time, but still damp in the rafters), widening a hole I already cut in the sheetrock to dry out the wet areas. The determination was that the source was worn out shingles around a vent stack for the water heater, since the vent had recently been replaced (as a first attempt to stop the leak and fix old damage) I expected a follow up visit later to do the roof repair, but Choy had everything he needed on hand, and in around two hours, he had removed old and reshingled the leaking area as well as resealed the boots around 2 other vent pipes in the roof. It looks professional and clean. Follow up advice on drying out the attic space was provided.

 + -1 moreBefore I used this company I called a couple of other companies and this company seemed to have the most reasonable prices. Making a appointment was pretty easy going. I was a concerned about getting the right color shingle so I dropped by their office and they were very helpful in choosing the correct shingle color and answered all my questions. When the workmen arrived I was a little concerned with the ladder they were using. I had a couple of requests and the lead guy went ahead and followed up on all my requests without any issue. Definitely would use again.
Description of Work: Several "ridge shingles" have blown off and are missing. Re-secure and re-seal 10' section of hip/ridge shingles, re- sealed existing chimney flashing and re-sealed bay window flashing. Workers will have to have high ladder for very high roof.

 + -1 moreI called to request a small roof repair. The company's rep explained their rate schedule and method of operation, which was to put me on a list and call when a crew was available. They would not schedule a specific date in advance. They called twice to advise that a crew was available that day and would I be home? I couldn't drop everything and had to decline. I begged for at least one full day's notice so I could arrange to telecommute. They never did that. They called again while I was out-of-town on business travel. When I didn't take their call, they left a message assuming I was no longer interested. I had to call back to be readded to their list. Fortunately, when they called a fourth time, giving me an hour's notice of crew availability, it was a day that I regularly telework, so I could accommodate them and have the work done. Other than their scheduling difficulty, the company's reps were professional, courteous, and fixed our problem. I would use them again, but hope they can make their scheduling situation more accommodating to people who have to work outside the home.
Description of Work: Experienced water leaks from the roof that damaged a bedroom and bathroom ceiling. The company's crew inspected and found that caulk at vent penetrations through the roof had deteriorated. They recaulked all roof penetrations, and fixed the problem -- no more leaks.

Description of Work: We called Harrison for an estimate and Wayne Harrison came out the following day. He then provided us with a written estimate the same day. It was very reasonable and we have signed a contract for the replacement of our roof. His company could have done the work right away but because we would be out of town during May, we have settled on June. We had a number of questions and all were answered satisfactorily and cheerfully by his wife, who runs the office. This is the same company that put on our current roof 22 years ago. It lasted longer than we expected. Wayne is a gem and a great diplomat. Our roof project is now completed and they did a great job in two days. They had to remove two previous rooves and also had to replace 16 pieces of plywood. It was a big job. There was a great deal of debris and they cleaned it all up completely. The four men who worked on it did not take a lunch break as far as we could tell. They even put a new roof on an attached shed which we did not know they would do. They also left us some extra shingles. We are totally safisfied with the job and definitely recommend them.

 + -1 moreMr. Harrison came to our house within a day of calling to get an estimate. The estimate was delivered quickly. Mr. Harrison was available to answer all of my husband's questions in detail. The estimate that we received was a very competitive price. Samples that we requested were dropped off the same day. Once we decided to use H.T. Harrison and Sons for the project, an installation date was quickly scheduled. The job was completed faster than I expected. What I was most impressed with through the experience was the hard-working professionalism that the crew exhibited throughout the removal and installation of the new roof. The men were efficient and diligent. The foreman was knowledgeable and his crew worked as a well-oiled machine. We have recommended Harrison and Sons to anyone who has asked us about our roof. We were pleased with their price and impressed with their work ethic and results.

Description of Work: HT Harrison installed a new roof on my home last Summer. We had several competitors give us estimates, and although they were not the cheapest - they also were not the most expensive. I had many questions for them about shingle type, sheathing replacement; etc --- and they were extremely prompt and responsive to all of our questions and concerns. Much more so than any of their competitors. They gave us a thorough review of what they would do to replace our old roofing shingles and even returned two weeks after the job was complete to ensure we did not have any further issues. Their labor warranty is better than any of their competitors. I would use them again and have recommended them to everyone I know.

 + 1 moreWhen there was 30 inches of snow on our flat roof, HT Harrison & Sons showed up the morning after I called them. Every season, Wayne will walk all of our roofs to insure they are in top shape. Wayne will treat you like family.
Description of Work: Wayne Harrison is one of the most knowledgable roofers in the Washington Area. He is trustworthy and professional. In addition to complete roofing replacements, his team has done patch repairs, annual maintenance, chimney wraps.... you name it... for our multi family properties for 20+ years. Beacuse Wayne uses quality materials and has top supervisors, yes, you may pay a little more. But next time there is a hurricane or massive snowstorm, the peace of mind you have bought by using HT Harrison will be well worth it. His wife Capri runs the office and she is a gem. HT Harrison is simply the best.

 + -1 moreThe Estimate: was second lowest (the other one was Central) that I got from rest of contractors from Angie's list in the Rockville area. however, they were very easy to work with and offered me an angie list discount and slightly beat the competitor's price. Mr. Harrision and the lady that answer the phone were very pleasant. The install: it appears they have several install teams. I got an asian guy with a Hispanic guy. The asian guy was really good. I watched them work. you can tell he has a lot of experience. He was quick and precise. I am going to ask for him when i replace rest of my roof next time.
Description of Work: remove existing low sloped roof that had some bad boards and had caused leaks. clean up, install low slop shingles with water shield protection on the whole area, install flashings. 25yrs shingle warranty and 2 year labor warranty. about 1200 to 1600 sq ft.

 + 0 moreI was removing the old cedar shake shingles from my Tudor style home and replacing them with architectural shingles. Making such a drastic change was made easier by the guidance and sample selection H.T. Harrison provided. Once the choice of shingle was made, the work was scheduled and performed on time and within budget. The crew was polite, cleaned up the area, and Mr. Harrison followed up to ensure my satisfaction. This was a great experience with a company that is very professional.
Description of Work: Initial phone call was followed up with samples being delivered. The contract is very lengthy, read it completely. I agreed to have any wood decking replaced which is an additional cost. This appears to be a standard clause, as it is difficult to warrant a roof if it is replaced over rotted wood. Only two pieces required replacing on a very large, old roof. Just know that this is a real cost that may be added. Be sure to receive your warranty.
