HONAR ORIENTAL RUG RESTORATION

My mother has a lot of very old Oriental rugs that have been in the family for a very long time, the oldest is over 115 years old. I decided as a gift to her to have them taken care of because she could not afford to do it herself. I live in the Baltimore area and checked around there for someone I felt could actually fix the problems that these unique rugs presented. I sent a large area rug 12x17 to have it cleaned and get their opinion on the repairs it needed, the rug came back and the red had run into the cream areas. Needless to say I was not happy and all they said was that happens to Persian rugs and that's the way it goes. So I did some more checking and found Honar Oriental Rug Restoration down in Rockville, The man in charge there is named Ali and has been around Oriental rugs all his life and was able to tell me what the rugs needed and how they where going to do it. As for the specifics of the job, the edging on most of them looked terrible and the fringe was missing on several of them to the point where the carpet was unraveling. The oldest was suffering from some serious moth damage that had occurred when my grandmother had it this rug, it is the really old one. Honar cleaned all the carpets put new edging on all of them actually wove and tied in new sections into two of the really old pieces. This was all a very long process and was not inexpensive but the value of the service we received was beyond price. I cannot say enough about the job they did, they turned something that some would have given up on into a show piece.

They have prompt pick up and delivery. They are willing to schedule around my schedule and they come in with really no disruption. I have some big rugs that are like 18 by 20. They roll them and take them out. If they have pet stains or spills, they always have been able to get them out without damaging the rug. Some of the rugs are very expensive that I send out. All in all, they do an excellent job. I would continue to use them in the future; in fact, they are bringing a rug back today and they said they got it completely cleaned.
