Glenmont Heating & A/C

Summary: Company charged me $1000+ for 2 separate service visits that did not fix my AC unit; technicians and Operations Manager are not truthful about work done; Operatiins Mngr will tell you find another HVAC company when you express dissatisfaction ….I contacted Glenmont Heating and Air Conditioning since my AC unit was not dispensing any cold air. Thermometer was set to 68° however the unit temperature was reading 77-80° (note this was the week of extreme heat wave). On 21Jun2024: Glenmont technician Roderick performed a service call. I spoke to him via phone after the call to which he told me he added refrigerant to the system. This did not fix the issue and the unit continued to not dispense cold air with the thermometer reaching 77-80° despite being set to 68°. I was charged $119 for this work. Operating Manager Tim Schindle is contradicting what the tech said and claims Roderick did not add any refrigerant. I again called Glenmont HVAC for a second service appointment. This technician claimed the coil needed to be cleaned. The second technician (Eric) then falsely reported on his report the unit temperature dropped to 68° when he left when I have photographic evidence showing the temperature in the high 70s. I waited about 24hrs as instructed for the thermostat to drop and it never did and the unit continued to not dispense cool air. I then called a supervisor (don’t recall name) who essentially told me due to the extreme temperatures everyone was experiencing HVAC issues and did not recommend any follow up service. I then had several back/forth emails with Operations manger Tim Schindler to notify him after 2 separate service visits, my air conditioning was not fixed. In the end he told me, and I quote “my system is old…we don’t know the maintenance history…it is best for both of us to find another HVAC company. He did however bill me $964 for the second service visit, which did not fix my issue. I ended up having to call another HVAC company who diagnosed the problem as a compression failure/ replaced the unit and now have cold air blowing. The second HVAC company did not understand why the 2nd technician from Glenmont Heating/Air Conditioning was changing coils and said this was not necessary to do. Second HVAC company showed me the reading of the compressor unit to which I could see no charge was registering, essentially the compressor was no longer working which was the root cause of my issue. In conclusion, I’m disappointed with Glenmont HVAC and feel they sent incompetent technicians who falsified their work. When I complained to the company and expressed my disappointment with their work (or lack there of) they told me to seek other HVAC company without fixing my AC unit but charged me $1000+. Poor business acumen and highly unethical company that needs to be held accountable for cheating customers and not performing quality work.

This company was amazing. They were on time, honest, efficient, and did good work. I would definitely trust them and use them again.

Glenmont Heating and A/C was fantastic. It's so hard to get good service these days. But, when you do, it's a great feeling. Kyle was professional and helpful. We had never used Glenmont before but they had a great rating on Angie's List so we called them. I would recommend them in a second!!

Two projects. Heater motherboard went out and was replaced...couple months later blower motor went out. Nothing was done same day but taken care of within a few days...older unit and parts ordered. Very professional and well trained staff.

Came out and replaced in 5 hours the day after they provided estimate during very cold period

They do a Fall maintenance and a Spring maintenance. We have a yearly service plan, so it was covered under the service plan. We've been using them for a lot of years, approximately eight years. I think when they come out and they do the work, they do a good job and I don't have to keep calling them back. They do what they say they're gonna do and they have good service plans so you can choose what would work best for you.

Technician was knowledgeable and diligent in performing work. Explained what the issue was, quoted the price before work began, timely finished the work.

They do a fine job, and have a very attentive back office.

The estimators showed up on time and did a thorough survey of the work needed to be completed offering suggestions on best to lay out the basement duct work. The installers showed up on time and completed the work the same day. The regularly asked me to make sure they were laying the duct works out in locations I wanted and in one instance came up with an idea that made the ducts less obtrusive in my plans for remodeling the basement. Both workers very friendly and efficient in their work.

I have been using them for a few years now and they do a great job every time. Polite,professional and prompt.

They arrived on time and with all they needed. Laid out a floor covering each day, cleaned up at the end of each day, were polite, professional and knowledgeable. It was a lot of work, more than they anticipated but they never asked or even suggested that the bid price was a problem. They ran into more problems than they anticipated and wanted to adjust the schedule by a week...when I said that would not work for us, they adjusted their schedule to meet our needs. They kept the hot water on the whole time even though it was a royal pain for them to do so. Greg was the office man and was great. Billy did the on the job supervision and all the work and he was terrific. I'd use them again in a New York minute!

Am scheduling work for next week and will update review after that time. So far, after working with several HVAC companies on assorted issues, this is the company I have liked the best.

I dealt principally with Brian and Joey and they were great. I brought in multiple ductwork specialists to look at my system, which distributed air very unevenly throughout the house, and others wanted me to install supplemental air systems that would require putting holes in the walls of the house and not actually fix the underlying issues. Glenmont was the only group to propose a comprehensive, thoughtful and sensible solution that actually fixed the root problems. They are clearly passionate and knowledgeable about ductwork. They took the time over several visits to identify the problems, educate me, and propose different levels of fixes based on different budgets. Not only do I know a lot more about my ductwork after working with them, but most importantly, their fixes did what no other group said was possible - my system does the job on its own and is balanced throughout the house.

They're good. We have a service contract. We pay them a certain amount per year. They come out and do maintenance based on the service contract. They have different levels of contract. You can have a silver contract or a gold contract. That determines what they will provide. We pay about $300 a year. It covers all maintenance. If something breaks down, they come out and there's no charge. It covers labor for anything that happens. It doesn't cover the parts. They're helpful and do a good job. We've been with them for many years. They're very responsive. If we have a problem, they come out right away and take care of it. They seem knowledgeable and know what they're doing. We don't have to keep calling them back.

Arrived on time. Very thorough. Very professional and patient while explaining various systems in our new house. We will use this company to do insulation in our attic in the near future.

They did pretty good. They actually care about getting the job done correctly. They are expensive.

Their service was fine. They were pretty upfront about the fact that it may not work and they couldn’t guarantee it. But, it did work and they were pretty honest about it. I had no issues later.

The a/c was a new unit replacing an old one which I liked. I didn't like the repair work they did on the furnace and the boiler. I did not like way they billed me for the services.

They are efficient, they are smart, they are thorough, they get the job done on time, and my attic is no longer radiating heat.

Lee Shields and his team were on time, professional, and efficient, They worked neatly and did a spotless clean up job. I am thrilled that I hired Glenmont Hvac to help make my house run more efficiently. In adition, they processed the rebates with pepco for me. Thank you.

Took two guys two and a half hours to make a diagnosis. They made some recommendations, and gave me a bill of $430. That's for the diagnosis only. Repair will be additional. After complaining, they gave me a $100 discount (I appreciate that though). Did not want to continue work with them, I ended up hiring a different contractor.

We came home from vacation to find our A/C unit was dead because of a non-working blower. I had previously called another company, and they told me the motor was dead and needed replacing. Quoted me $600 for the repair, I declined. I called Glenmont for a second opinion. Miguel showed up and was very courteous. In a few minutes he said the capacitor was dead, and was a quick fix. Sure enough, in under 30 minutes he had fixed the unit, and it cost a less than 1/4 of the price the other company had quoted. This is the second time I call Glenmont for a second opinion, and both times had a similar experience. From now on they will be my first (and only) call.

From our initial contact with the repair technician, to the sales office, and finally the techs that installed the new system, Glenmont was professional and courteous throughout. They sent over proposals as promised, were competitive on pricing, and showed up on time on the scheduled day to install the new system. A positive experience all around.
