+ -1 moreAs you can see, it did not go well. In addition to the above, we were told to label delicate things fragile & they would be handled with care, they weren't. We had some breakage because of poor handling and we are missing a step ladder. Boxes were taken to the wrong rooms and had to be moved by us. The labeling system was theirs, but the workers could not read them properly. If you're a glutton for punishment and have a need to be violated ELEPHANT VAN LINES is the right company for you. I believe the best way to pick a moving co. is word of mouth. Get all promises in writing and read all the small print of your estimate and contract. These people not only ripped us off, but a charitable organization as well,
Description of Work: Elephant lines moved our furniture from Bergen county NJ to warehouse in jersey city for approx. 2 weeks then redelivered to Middlesex county. We asked they submit an estimate foreseeing every conceivable expense as the bill was being paid by a charitable organization; they low-balled the estimate in order to get the job. We paid $217 for packing supplies and a $500 deposit that would be returned after the check cleared. After first move to the warehouse they hit us with additional $400 in packing fees & supplies. We protested to no avail, as they had our furniture, our money and the check from the organization. We had a balance for the second leg of move. On moving day they loaded truck at the warehouse while I watched. When they finished we arranged to meet at the new apt. It is a 30-mile trip that should take app. 40 min., but took them 2 3/4 hrs. Nothing we could do, as they threatened not to unload. We paid another $140. Had to sign a liability waiver so they would return remainde
