Rob came to look at the job a few days before he scheduled it. He listened to our concerns and told us what he would do and we agreed to the work. He called a few days later to schedule the appointment and arrived a few hours after the agreed upon time. Rob worked on the project until it was finished and then called us to the basement to explain what he the results and how to use the new shut-off valve. Rob charged $125.00 for the estimate and $925 for the job with a 10% (but $50 max) discount for a total of $1,000.00. Rob is friendly and personable. He cleaned up the area where he worked and made recommendations to keep the pipe from freezing. He offered to come back again to check the water pressure and replace any valves that are failing. We're looking for a reliable plumber we can call each time we need one. We're both retired teachers and our house was built in the early 70s and is getting to the point where we need reliable, affordable help. Our biggest reason for the decision to not call Eire again is the price for the work.
Description of Work: Home built in early 70s. I chose Eire from Angie's List. The work that we asked Rob to do is in a finished part of our basement. He cut out a piece of wallboard approximately 1 ft. by 5 ft. to gain access to the pipe he was replacing, an adjoining piece of wallboard approximately 2 ft. by 4 ft. to locate electric wires and a 1 ft. by 2 ft. piece in the ceiling to install a shut-off valve. He replaced an approximately 8ft piece of plastic/copper pipe with solid copper, installed a shut-off valve for outside hose in the basement ceiling, replaced the hose faucet with new one, sprayed foam insulation behind the new pipe and into voids where air was leaking into house. Rob also tested water pressure of the outside faucet.

Response from Eire Plumbing
Customer contacted Eire Plumbing and asked for estimate as had a pipe in the wall which was freezing each year. Rob explained to customer that this would be considered diagnostic and a consultation. Explained to customer that there would be a fee of $125 to cover Rob's time to come out and look at the job and discuss, which customer agreed to. After coming out to look at job, Eire Plumbing provided customer with an emailed estimate for work of $925. The customer responded as accepting estimate and job was scheduled. After completing job, Rob noticed an issue with the pressure in the hose bid and spent additional time at no charge-diagnosing, troubleshooting and running tests and then explaining issue to customer. For the work performed, replacing pipe with solid copper pipe, installing shut-off valve, replacing hose faucet and spraying foam insulation behind new pipe and voids, $925 is a competitive rate in the industry.

I was desperate when new water pipes burst in the middle of the night. I got on Angie's List and contacted a number of plumbers. Eire contacted me back 1st thing in the morning and fit the repair in that morning! I needed to be at work, but I arranged for a friend to be at the house. My friend contacted me immediately upon his arrival telling me to be assured I finally found a reliable, honest and professional plumber!!! (The jokers who did the original work were a nightmare a neighbor recommended.) I got home and immediately ran to my spanking new high quality washer/dryer water supply pipes! Love at first sight and now I've finally found someone who can help me with all of the plumbing disasters in this old house.

It was a difficult job because the kitchen is part of a new addition that is very far away from the original drain to the outside of the house. So there were many feet of drain (50 feet at least!) to unclog. Rob was there for two hours and was able to get the pipes unclogged and now everything is working perfectly. He also provided suggestions on how to keep the drains from clogging in the future. He was extremely professional and pleasant. I would definitely use Rob again for any other plumbing needs.
Description of Work: My kitchen drain was completely blocked up. Rob snaked the drain for me.

I bought a deal for the InSinkErator Badger Five Garbage. They recommended for $100 more to upgrade to the professional version which was exactly what I wanted. I was concerned that the Five might be underpowered. It was all done in 30 mins or so. Very friendly staff and hugely responsive, came within a day or so of me buying the deal.

The work done was well done! I really liked the honesty and work performed by the owner of this small business company. However, his delayed arrival time (1 1/2 hr. from the initial timetable) did interfered with the rest of my daily schedule and missed a meeting. I would use them again but would emphasize a workable time table when scheduling with them.

Rob was terrific. He responded immediately to my request and scheduled in a timely manner. He showed up on time after confirming with me a day before to make sure I would still be home. He was engaging and helpful as I peppered him with additional questions during his visit. He was fast and efficient and there were no additional charges even though he did a little more than expected by cleaning out the sump pump well (who knew it would accumulate so much debris after all these years?). As an independent owned/operated business, he has relatively low overhead and is able to respond personally. I would certainly recommend him to anyone in the area and will use Erie again for any plumbing needs in the future.

no more noise coming from the pipe since then, so his instinct was right. Very glad with his service.
Description of Work: Investigated the cause of noise coming from the pipe when faucet was used after idling for a while. It did not happened during the visit, and Rob suspected that the cause of it was the old pressure reducing valve. He had it replaced and also a new level shut off valve (which we wanted). He did the job and tidied up the place within an hour i think.

We had a sewer line backup in our recently purchased older home. At first I wasn't sure if it was a simple blockage or a leak because I was unfamiliar with how the house is plumbed. This happened on a Sunday night, and I called around to find someone to come in the morning. With a wife and three girls in the house, restoring the use of plumbing was pretty much an emergency. Eire was the only one to respond Sunday night, so Rob got the gig. He came close to when he estimated he would make it. We snooped around to figure out the sewage outflow for the house, and he was able to help me understand much more about the house's plumbing. Finally diagnosing this most likely as a sewer clockage, he looked for an access pipe, but given the age of the house, it turns out we don't have one. He lifted a first floor toilet to access the drain, then snaked the drain. The blockage was close to the end of the sewer line, so it took a couple hours total. Then he reinstalled the toilet. He quoted me the price up once we figured out the problem, but in retrospect, I wish I had asked him how he got to that number, because it felt a little on the high side. Given the situation at that point, though, I wasn't keen on shopping around. In the end, I think Rob provided prompt, quality service. Just not at a bargain price. I would probably still use him again since I trust the quality of his work.

I picked Eire Plumbing from Angie's List, principally because of the price. He offered a special deal: $99, which included 30 minutes labor. I took it, paying by PayPal. I did not notice that unstopping a plugged drain was another Eire Plumbing special deal: $250. Anyway, it was a Friday and Rob Clem of Eire Plumbing called immediately and said he could not come out that day but would try to come on Saturday, a day he normally doesn't work. He came as promised and quickly snaked the drain open. I paid him the extra $150. I appreciated the quick response and willingness to come out on Saturday. I wish I had more carefully read the promotion, however. The plumber I usually use, W. H. Lewis & Company, charged me $186 for the same service, but that was back in 2009, so perhaps the prices have gone up since then. W. H. Lewis was on vacation when I called Friday. His answering machine said he would be back Monday. But I was in a hurry.

Sometimes, as the saying goes, "the third time's the charm." That definitely proved true here. When we contacted Eire Plumbing, we were beginning to wonder whether the persistent leak under our kitchen sink would EVER go away. Thanks to Rob Clem, it did. Some while ago, shortly after Plumber #1 installed a new kitchen faucet with sprayer and new garbage disposer, we began getting drips down the sides of the disposer and a regular puddle in the undersink cabinet. Bringing the guy back to correct his sloppy work (the disposer didn't fit tightly, and the plumber's putty around the flange at the top had been applied like modeling clay!), didn't solve the problem. In fact, things got worse. So, we brought in Plumber #2, who, after checking the situation out, recommended installing yet another disposer. As it happened, Plumber #2 couldn't be bothered to do the work himself. And the tech he sent instead didn't look beyond the basics of the job at hand. Thus, the day after the brand-new disposer was installed, there was already -- you guessed it -- a puddle of water in the bottom of the cabinet. When Plumber #2 stubbornly refused to come back and remedy the problem, we were again up a tree -- and fit to be tied. Enter Rob of Eire Plumbing (Plumber #3). When I contacted him, he was two days away from leaving on vacation and already tightly booked. Still, he made room for us, showing up promptly at 10 the following morning. Rob proceeded, methodically, to search out the source of the leak into the undersink cabinet. Momentarily, he was stumped. Then came the "Aha!" moment. The problem was NOT the garbage disposer, but the boot (thick black rubber plug of sorts) on the dishwasher hose. This piece -- which had been on the dishwasher hose for years -- was torn halfway through. The only thing preventing a major kitchen flood had been the metal clamp on the hose! (Why hadn't previous plumbers zeroed in on this??) Rob quickly replaced the boot. He also put a zip tie on the underpart of the sink sprayer in order to create a loop -- something Plumber #1 should have done, but hadn't. Before he left, he fixed the pop-up drain mechanism in the upstairs hall bath, which had been carelessly installed by Plumber #2 and come apart. OUTCOME: A dry cabinet under the sink, at long last; and a pop-up drain that actually works. All this was accomplished in a little less than an hour. Rob's prices are a little on the high side. Nonetheless, I am happy to pay a bit more for the services of someone who knows exactly what he is doing; leaves no stone unturned; and works to a high standard. I recommend Eire Plumbing without hesitation.
Description of Work: (1) Successfully troubleshot longstanding leak into cabinet under kitchen sink. (2) Replaced torn boot on dishwasher hose. (3) Placed zip tie on underpart of sink sprayer. (4) Fixed pop-up drain mechanism in upstairs hall bath.

We have used Erie Plumbing for a past job in our master bath so we gave him a call again. This time we were looking for an estimate for a basement bathroom. Although we are not ready to put in a basement bath we wanted a wash tub sink in the basement and to put in a new water heater. Rob is flexible and responsive. He got all the work done in one day and even stopped the squeak in the front doors. There was a minor leak over night in the wash tub plumbing but Rob was there in 15 minutes to fix it. We will have Rob work on our house again in the future.

It went very well. He was very prompt in responding and coordinating. He actually did the work at a property that we have tenants in. It was no problem with him to coordinate with them and then contact me for payment so it was very smooth and easy. His response was very quick. He emailed things when he said he would and he returned invoice right away. Since I was only dealing with him over the phone and did not meet him, he was very prompt. My tenants are happy.

Tub had been improperly installed by builder more than 2 decades ago. Rob had to dig down deep into tons of concrete to fix the problem. He was thorough and checked all other pipes while the wall was open. Found and repaired pipes where nails had been driven through them by the builders. Now we are compliant with codes. Excellent workmanship. Excellent GC works with him (Dan from Renovations & Beyond, Inc.) They got along great. They were always on time. Cleanliness was important with my toddler in the house. Worked with me to find solutions for unique problems (i.e. exhaust fan had to fit extremely narrow height allowance of 5.5 inches). All completed on schedule. Allowed me to add on small jobs that I wasn't sure about when the initial estimate was provided. Really appreciated having only 2 strangers in the house - no big revolving door of people. Both Rob and Dan were generous with their time when we had any questions about the process. Looking forward to more jobs with both gentlemen in the future.

Rob was great. He responded to my Angie's List email right away even though I had sent it in the evening. Returned my phone call within a hour and scheduled me right away. He called as he said he would when we was on his way and showed up exactly when he indicated he would. Really nice guy. Help me locate a shut off value to my water line for my refrigerator, played with my dog and left everything very neat and clean. Told me my hot water heater was rated to last 8 - 12 years and I was on year 15 so it could last for a while or one day I would just find a flood in my basement. On the spot gave me the price to replace. We will likely use him to do this work within the next month or so. I love that he owns the business and does the work, always happy to support solo-prenuers like him. If you want a great plumber cal him. You won't be disappointed.

Due to a weather forecast of freezing temperatures and snow to begin that Monday, Eire decided they had to begin AND complete the work over the weekend. Two men arrived at 9:00 AM on Saturday morning, worked all day, and completed the entire job by that evening. They do not do the carpentry work to replace the wall board cut away in the bedroom, but recommended someone to do so who also did an excellent job the following week. Lastly, the owner of the plumbing company called me a few days later to follow-up and offered to come back to lay mulch over the area of my lawn, at no additional charge, to mitigate the muddy conditions resulting from the dig. I thanked him but told him I'd already taken care of it.
Description of Work: Found a leak that was caused by old PVC pipe imbedded in the the wall between the basement bedroom and the foundation of the house. The rug in the bedroom was being soaked by the leak which was not visible from inside or outside of the house. Eire plumbing had to dig a four-foot deep trench from the sidewalk through the lawn and drill into the foundation to replace the pipe. and refill the foundation around it.

I called and spoke to Rob for an estimate to install two toilets in my house. He quoted me $400 but said that he could not guarantee the parts that came with the toilets I purchased at Home Depot. He stated they use a higher quality of wax, bolts etc. He did not give a specific additional cost but said it could be about $50 more than the $400. The final cost was $495. I didn't realize this extra cost was for each. I called back Rob the next day (my wife was home when he did the installation) for a price breakdown on the $95 charge because the bill just stated "Install two toilets." He did return my call the next day but I was out of town. I did not pursue the issue further as I was very happy with the quality of work. Another AL plumber was $500 higher on his estimate. Rob was polite and knowledgeable and his rep that came to the house (not sure if it was Rob or not) obviously did a great job. I would use this contractor again in the future.

Hire Eire Plumbing! This is a small business whose owner, Rob Clem, takes great pride in the excellent service he provides. He called right back after I left a message. He asked me to send him some pictures of the laundry tub and pipes so that he could get a better idea of the job and assess the estimate for me over the phone. This was very helpful as it saved time for me, and since it was a straightforward task, he was able to save himself a trip as well. When he came to the house to do the work, he was punctual, polite and professional. He got right to work, did the job, and cleaned up. He was also generous with his expertise on a couple of other issues we had questions about and gave us his honest opinion about installing some additional equipment (which was to wait a few months and then decide). He could have pushed a sale, but didn't. Later on in the day, I reattached the hoses for my washer and the connection started leaking. I called him back and he talked me through how to fix it (a simple turn of a nut behind the valve) over the phone. This was an unrelated issue, and as I said before, he was generous with his expertise. He did not have to solve my issue at no cost right then, but he did. I will have to replace that valve at some point, but for now it is okay. I would definitely use Eire Plumbing again, and I will recommend him to others.
