That neighbor did not do his research, resulting in his dissatisfaction after the job was completed. He verbally abused both of us in person... then submitted the only negative review I have from an actual customer. All through the ordeal, you acted like a gentleman, and kept your cool... my compliments to you, sir! "It is unfortunate that you hired some guy who knocked on your door to pave your driveway. He did a terrible job... then, you went to Angies List to hire a reputable contractor like me. The problem is that you didnt want to do the job correctly (due to cost), and asked me to fix someone else's mistakes on a thin budget. Its a common situation that almost always leads to customer dissatisfaction... even after my careful, slightly long winded description of the proposed work. I even gave you $1,800.00 worth of completely free services without you even having to ask!!! We went FAR above the call of duty on this project... I'm very sorry you don't recognize that. -Dominic"

"Great review... I worked hard for this 1! Initially, I assumed you wanted a heavier duty product, and I priced it accordingly. After some negotiations we realized that the initial spec was a bit overkill. As a result, we were able to provide you with the right product to fit your budget. "Doing business with you has been like my own personal episode of Jerry Springer. During our time together I observed you: 1. insisting that I overcharge your neighbors to pay more than their fair share, because quote: "they never pay for nothing!" 2. Dropping 5 F bombs in front of your neighbours children (yes, I counted!). 3. Gave your neighbor the task of hiring a contractor for the shared driveway, and then berated them by repeatedly saying: "how could you hire a contractor with bad online reviews?!” You are the first bad review from a customer in my 4 years with Angies List! 4. Listened to me explain for 40 minutes that the product that YOU chose would not fill the cracks you had in your driveway, then had your wife call me after the job was completed to tell me that you quote: "did not understand". 5. You were very obviously annoyed as I took too long in explaining the different products that I offer, and barely listened to anything I had to say before the job was done. Then, in typical bad consumer fashion, you perform a Google search after the job was completed, and suddenly acquired more knowledge about my industry than I have gained in 26 years of business. It's a shame that I met your neighbors before meeting you, because if I had met you first, there is no way that we would have done business. Shortly after we met, it became very clear to me that I was being drug into your little "neighbor war". You wanted the driveway repaved... one of your neighbors just wanted to seal coat... and your other neighbor wanted to do nothing. I'm sure that your anger issues have interfered with your communication with them about this project, so its no big surprise that you are unsatisfied. BTW… we do not buy any materials from Sears, nor do we dilute our product. Your credibility level is zero… your a liar, and a thief! I am not the only contractor who has had these issues with you either!-Dominic"

You are analytical, and I appreciated that, as I am a bit long winded when it comes to explaining my thoughts of how the project should be tackled. I believe that a well informed customer is a happy customer. Believe it, or not... some people ask too few questions about what is usually a big expense, and then are caught by surprise when the finished project does not match the vision in their heads. You were very easy to talk to, but your hospitality is what really hit it home for me, and my crew. The pie you baked me (that's right Angie's List... she baked me a pie!) was delicious! "Sometimes all thats needed is a small repair. Your driveway was done right when the house was built, and will last a very long time with the correct maintenance.
