Dominic's Paving

I left several requests for a call back, emails detailing the project needed and no one ever responded.

Dominic was very upfront about the process and I like a company that doesn't sell you fluff. He surely wasn't the cheapest out there but generally when I am looking for something, we all know you get what you pay for. And with that, Dominic did a fantastic job and used quality materials. He was honest, straight forward with what to expect and will be asking him to maintain my driveway in the future. I would highly recommend him.

Dominick was very unprofessional. After we complained that none of the cracks were filled, he came back to give us an estimate to fill some of the major cracks. He would not give an estimate at that time. He insisted that he needed to mark each crack that we wanted filled with white paint (that he said would not wash off), and then he would send us an estimate. He increased the price form $9 per linear foot to $10 per linear foot, and although he said there were less expensive options, he would only agree do any crack filling, if we agreed the most expensive ($10 per linear foot) option. Also, his crew used a product from SEARS that says on the can "do not dilute." I watched as he and his crew diluted the product with some other liquid before they poured the diluted product into a big container on his truck so that the product could be sprayed on through a hose.

In all it went horribly. I went into this meeting quite happy because he had mostly great reviews on Angie's, except for the last one. I should have listened to the last one. When he finally rolled down his window, it was to point at his phone and say: "I'm on a business call". I'm thinking, but didn't say, "So what am I, chopped liver?" I replied, "Are you here to do business?" He said, "Yes, but you know what? No. I don't want to do business with you." So I said, "You know what? Me either. You can leave now." He says, "Fine" and turns the truck around. I was telling my sons that this is what a bad businessman looks like, and he leans out his window and says: "Brad, you wanna just stop?" I replied: "Yes, as soon as you get out of here. The sooner, the better." Too bad for him, because this is a quite extensive job (over 11,000 sq. ft. of paving) and the other three businesses have been extremely nice and helpful, not to mention on time & polite. I would advise you use anyone else. Rude, late, unapologetic. If you can't get the basics right, you don't deserve the job.

I have a long steep driveway with lots of cracks. Dominic came out and clearly explained all the options that I had to fix my driveway as well as the pros and cons for each method. I ended up going with hot tar filling of the cracks with a oil based sealer. Dominic came out the following week and completed the work on the scheduled day and time. There were a lot of cracks that needed to be filled which he worked with me on the price. My driveway now looks beautiful.

If I had the opportunity to speak to anyone from this service, I would have been able to answer this question. However, Dominic's has apparently decided that service requests from clients more than 30 miles from their base do not need any acknowledgement. I advise everyone considering this company to look carefully at the distance, and to not book service via Angie'sList, because apparently Dominic's DOES NOT care about potential customers.

I contacted Dominic for two quotes - one to redo the already cracked, existing driveway with enough room for one car. One to do that and extend the driveway onto the dirt incline towards the side of the house. Dominic was very professional, he answered all our questions and readily admitted that we could definitely get a better price but the quality would not be the same. He mentioned oil based sealant versus water based sealant. I was also hesitant because we had a very small driveway, perhaps too small for his company, but he said this was the perfect time to do these kind of jobs. We scheduled a date and when that date came around --my wife went into labor! Dominic was still able to handle it and as I called him from the hospital and he took care of all the misc things such as moving things off the driveway in order to complete the work. The finished product was excellent, aesthetically pleasing and all within a 1 day turnaround. His price reflects the final product.

Dominic's been great so far. I have no doubt he'll do a great job.

I understand that it is a busy time of season, and that they have a coupon for a deal with their company. However, it looks like I'm not the only one who hasn't gotten a response. If it's that busy for your company, take down the deal for now, OR at least email people like me that you can't give a quote right now -- it would only take 5 minutes of your time. It's just not professional to me.

I purchased the deal on the 26th and they never contacted me by phone, email or messages in my Angie's List account.

It could not have been any better! Dominic is very professional and very good at explaining what needs to be done, and laying out the various options for the customer; from the start, my neighbor and I (who share the driveway and parking area) were very confident that we'd made the right choice. His workers were extremely competent, professional and polite, and the finished job was absolutely beautiful. I have to admit that I approached this project with a lot of trepidation, having had NO previous experience with paving, but Dominic made it all go smooth as silk and a very pleasant experience. He and his crew deserve 10 stars! The driveway and parking area are absolutely beautiful, and the price was very reasonable for the amount and quality of work that was done. This company gets my highest recommendation--they are TOP NOTCH in every way! Trust me, if you need paving, you cannot go wrong with Dominic's Paving!

The company never contacted me to schedule.

He was on time. He had terrific workers who were professional, and hard working. They put the base layer down and had to wait a few days for it to dry, for it rained. He returned when he said he would and completed the job. I have recommended him to my church to repave our church driveway.

It went extremely well. I think he charged more because my area was bigger. He held the price for the amount of the area he quoted. It was my husband that dealt with him but he was very impressed with him. I felt his price was good. I will definitely use him again in the future.

Dominic did a beautiful job on the paving and, because I was able to be very flexible about timing, equipment storage and tree cutting to admit equipment, he was able to schedule the work around other, larger projects and give us a good price for the total. Some calls were not returned quickly, and that could be a place for improvement, but overall the issue disappeared. We are well pleased with the resulting asphalt work, and we have already recommended the firm to others seeking a paving contractor.

I called the office on a Monday and left a message. On Saturday, Dominic called me asking if anyone from the office had been in touch - I told him No, he apologized and he gave some great advice about what to do. We agreed that an oil seal coat would be the best course of action and that he could be at my house the following Saturday. I asked for a window of time and he said he would be there sometime before 7am and 7pm. I asked for something more specific and he said I could call him on Friday if I wanted to. Saturday came and went and Dominic never showed up, never called and hasn't call me since. I appreciated the advice over the phone, but to not show up and never call is just bad business.

Dominic was great. Spent time on the phone describing the options and offering suggestions. Arrived early to do the work and it looks good. Was more expensive than others, but we felt we got a better result and service. Was prompted use an oil vs. water based sealer....a good move from what we understand. Very professional. Will use Dominic again! ADDENDUM 5/31/14: After the driveway began to show spots where the sealant may not have adhered properly, we called Dominic and he came back right away. Explained that the marks we were seeing were normal from tire wear but redid the whole job anyway, at no cost!! Dominic is a prince! You can't go wrong with him! Guys/companies like him are almost impossible to find!!

He arrived on time, and cleaned off our driveway with his blower, then applied the sealant with a sprayer attached to a pump in the back of is pickup truck. He cleaned up everything before he left. He took a personal check for the amount.

Dominic was quick to respond to my initial inquiry through email. He came out and was very honest in his assessment of my driveway, explaining the level of effort required and cost. He promptly came out to seal the driveway on Monday, April 14th and I was able to use the driveway the next day as he explained. He did a great job on our driveway, it looks great, the price was right. I will use him again in the future.

First of all, I called 6 A rated pavers, Dominic called me back and came to my home the same day. By that night, I had a written quote with all the details, pictures, references, etc in my inbox. We had all type of weather challenges (snow storms) from the time we sealed the deal to the day the work started. Dominic kept me informed and we continued to adjust. During this period, I knew that I had chosed the right company. Dominic did the driveway and I am so very happy with it. I have had countless neighbors stop by for his name and number. This project has been years in the making for me but something more important always got in the way. I rarely write reviews but you will not go wrong with Dominic. He gets it! He was very good and reliable. He was quick to show up and have a bid on the driveway, and he was very professional. He was quick to come out and return my phone call. His price was a little high. We didn't use him because we used a family friend.

Dominic came out and discussed with me what I wanted and his recommendations. He could have said it needed complete replacement, but he told me that would cost a lot of money. I appreciated his honesty and candor. Driveway was just sealcoated and a small low spot was filled in the same day. Driveway looks brand new. Highly recommend.

I could not ask for a more professional or friendly business to work with. The owner was personable. He came out in the cold to assess our cracked and deteriorating driveway. He talked with us about our options and answered all of our questions. he wasn't pushy and he was very down to earth and friendly. Dominic really cares about his customers and participates in all aspects of the job. He and another gentleman did the job in one afternoon. They actually were able to take care of the job a day earlier than scheduled, which was good, since we were expecting bad weather. They were efficient, they did not leave a mess after the work was completed, and we were very pleased with the result. And the price was reasonable. We are happy with our new driveway so far, and expect that we will have no problems. Dominic assured us that we could call him any time if we had a problem or needed something fixed. We could have gone with a different well known paving company, but why not work with a business who's owner is personable, reliable and friendly?!! These character traits go a long way.

I purchased a "deal" on line. The provider was supposed to contact me with in a day to schedule from 3 dates I gave on line. No contact until I called Angie's list to see what needed to be done to get a refund. Angie's list was very prompt in their dealings with Dominic's Paving and indeed I was contacted by the owner with apologies that day. Thank you Angie! Long story short, when it came time for my driveway to be done, another situation. I was told the price I prepaid for was for a smaller driveway. It was handled with an option for me to get a full refund or for me to pay more money. Well, that puts the customer in a very awkward position. I didn't appreciate that at all! Yes I went ahead and did it. The drive way needed to be done!....but also told my neighbors the story. It's a shame too because they all wanted to go in together next time around. The quality of work was very good. Just the experience was bad. The owner even stated that this mistake has happened in the past because the picture is of a big driveway in his ad for the special deal......UGH! Not so special when you have to pay $100 more. Now I seem like the bad guy for posting a negative review.;( And so it continues.I am writing this on Dec. 29th in resonse to the provider's response. Yes the owner contacted me to offer a free service in the spring in exchange for me changing my review. I said I would think about it, but he wanted me to change the review now. I couldn't change the review based on a "future" service. That didn't seem right to me. It was clear that he called primarily for this purpose. The apology came with a condition. I'm reading the provider response sadly saying to myself, "wow". The play by play he offers is not what happened. But it's a mute point at this stage. My review was not a lie. In the spirit of Angie's List, I tried to be honest, but gentle. If the contact was indeed to repair the relationship, I would have been more than receptive. What motive would I have not to? In the end, I gave a "C". This is an average yet passing grade that is from my perspective both fair and accurate. Please know that this is written in a calm matter, since interpretting tone is difficult in writing.
