DMV Moving & Storage

They damaged all my furniture and when I asked the leader it was damaged before they even touched and asked a picture proof of undamaged furniture. I made mistake not taking pictures! The work was very slow and unprofessional. In between they are taking coffee, drink and smoke breaks (time was not discounted). To add to my agony, they lost few boxes and few furniture while loading to the truck. When I asked, the leader is saying I am responsible for all the losses and he argued with me. Never ever hire this company again. If you think 'learning from others mistakes' is a wise phrase, please learn from my mistake and never hire DMV moving for your moving need. You would do yourself a favor by saving time and money.

I decided to use DMV Moving and Storage because I learned they are on Angies list. I figured I couldn't go wrong and if I had a bad experience, I would have Angie on my side to help resolve the issue. I couldn't understand the movers very well so communication was a little difficult. Once the job was over, the leader of the group went over the bill with me, but I was having trouble understand him so I assumed he was being honest and correct. After paying them (in cash for the discount), I sat down with my family to go over the bill in detail when I realized they charged me for 8 hours when they where long gone within 6 1/2 hours. The bill says they started at 10am, but the finish time was never filled out. I tipped $130.00 off of the total amount of $930.00. I called DMV moving and let them know. They passed me around to several different people and kept telling me to call back. I have spoken to an Oscar, a Benjamin, and several others in which I didn't get their names. Finally I got in touch with Princesa who was very friendly and said she would get back to me after she had time to go over the bill. She never called and I haven't been able to get in touch with her since. I left many messages on her voice mail and finally one day a gentleman called me back saying that Princesa asked him to call me. I explained what happened and he said "well, that's like giving someone a piece of furniture and then asking for it back". I couldn't believe he compared that to my situation. He said he couldn't get me the over payment on the tip back (which I was ok with), but would get back to me on the 1.5 hour over charge. Needless to say, I never heard back and have tried to call many times over the past two months. I've left several messages for Princesa, but never hear back from anyone. I thought it was funny how helpful and friendly they were when they were getting my business, but once the move was over, I can't get any help at all. My daughter and my parents were all moving around the same time and were going to use the DMV Moving Company, but decided not to after my experience. I really hope I get some help with this because I'm not going to just walk away when someone cheats me out of money like this company did. Thank you, Candy Trueblood

I can't believe Angie's List endorses this company given their dishonest business practices. This was the worst experience ever. Be sure to read online reviews and consult the BBB website prior to using this company. They showed up with three guys and truck much smaller than I needed. Thankfully, I had someone here to show them how to load the boxes into their small truck. They charged me an extra hour beyond the estimate. I did not like that they kept using my bathroom at the new and old home without asking.

The initial contact with DMV Moving and Storage was great. Benjamin was very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately their movers did not provide the same service. They were not rude but they were not friendly either. The good - My belongings were not broken (which is a plus) and they did break down my bed and put it back together in the new place. The bad - My furniture was only half covered by moving blankets. I guess they did not have enough blankets to properly cover all of my furniture so that was their solution. It was a good thing that I provided my own shrink wrap or else I don't know what would have happened. The ugly - The movers forgot items at my apartment AND they left trash on my floor from when they finished using the tape at the move-out location. They also balled up the shrink wrap that was removed from my furniture and just left it on the ground in my garage.. (I did take pictures) I was never asked if there was a garbage can that they could use to dispose of the trash. I called the front office to inform them of my experience. Benjamin was very apologetic and stated he would forward the information along and I should get a follow up call. As of today, I have not heard anything. Suggestions for company: Do not ask the customer to fill out a survey with the movers standing there. It kind of backs your customer into a corner to give a good review. This duty should be handled by the administrative staff only.

They were on time and finished quickly. Polite. They moved everything quicker than expected.

The crew was fantastic. They arrived just a few minutes late due to DC traffic. They called well in advance to infirm me that they may be a few moments tardy. When they arrived, they were ready to work. My items completely filled the entire 30 foot moving truck from front to back and all the way to the ceiling. Unfortunately for them, my move also included an extra stop to retrieve my piano. They loaded my entire house in under (3) hours with just a five-minute break, that they asked if it was OK with me that they took. They followed me to my aunties house to pick up the piano, I could only imagine the sheer strength needed to lift the piano, but they did it!! They drove carefully behind me to my new home and quickly began unloading my possessions, placing them in every room as requested. They asked for a very short lunch break, then without coaxing, finished unloading the massive amount of furniture and hundreds of pounds of boxes. This amazing group of guys, completed my job UNDER the allotted (7) hour time frame with atleast an half-hour to spare. I would recommend this company and crew any day!!!
