Tony, one of the owners, helped us with selecting an appropriate berber carpet for the basement and was the consummate professional. I would definitely recommend his company. + -1 moreThe crew did a great job of removing the old carpet, installing the new carpet, and cleaning everything up. We choose Berber carpet and the family room had a seam in it - this crew did a much better job mating the pieces than the firm that installed the original carpet.

+ -1 moreI went to Carpet Express based on the experiences described here on Angie's List. Tony was incredibly helpful, asked pertinent questions and was not hesitant in offering recommendations. He prepared an extremely reasonable cost estimate. A few days later - I was in no rush - another gentleman came out to review the job and to validate the estimate. I thought he was very thorough, and described how the job would go. When I was ready, I was able to schedule the job within a week. Jose and Juan appeared pretty much on time, worked quietly and efficiently, and did an outstanding job installing the carpet. I was thrilled with the results, and would have no hesitation in recommending Carpet Express to friends.

+ 0 moreThey gave me reasonable delivery times that he met, and his installers showed up on time. When the old carpet was pulled up, an unforseen problem was discovered in the subfloor that delayed final installation. They were totally flexible and came back in a timely manner and finished the job. Ask for Tony - very, very knowledgible and professional. (I think he's off on Sundays) I am very happy!
Description of Work: Excellent service from start to finish! My place flooded so I needed new carpet and laminate installed. My place is on a slab of concrete so I wanted some insulation potential, too. I did a lot of research first and then visited 5 other flooring stores (I'm picky). This place was the only place to really listen and did not immediately try to sell me something I didnt want or need. I asked Tony all kinds of specialty questions (e.g., cork underlayment for laminate, stain resistance issues on carpet, etc) and this guy really, really knows his stuff! I wanted to special order something which turned out to be "discontinued" by the manufacturer, and Tony found me something better! He's got an excellent eye for color too.

Description of Work: I selected Carpet and Floor Express because of excellent references on Angie's List and because its location was convenient. Tony Pakzad helped me select carpet and sheet vinyl for restoration being done to the basement rec room and bathroom. The sheet vinyl was installed fairly early in the restoration project, and the carpeting completed later. The selection, measuring, and installation processes were all done extremely well.

+ -1 moreVery prompt courteous service, did a nice job refinishing. They did almost cut through our alarm which would have been a problem, blue tape notwithstanding. Also put in a slight groove under one door although we didn't intend to put a threshold there and will have to now. Overall, I would recommend, but be explicit about details regarding what you want and don't want to happen around the floors.
Description of Work: Sanded and refinished approximately 284 sq ft of hardwood floors. Job was only one room and a hallway.

+ 0 moreExcellent workmanship. Moved all the furniture and helped out with stereo cabinet where it would have been a nightmare to disconnect components. Instead, they creatively worked around it by moving the whole unit. Only minor problem is that they left in a rush after the major work was done (it was getting late) and left some of the minor restoration of furniture, cushions, etc duties to us. Overall, though, recommend highly for quality and value.

+ -1 moreFinal product is fine, and the installation is good but I did not get the overall warm-fuzzy feeling dealing with the salespeople. I had to haggle to get the price advertised on their website and am not 100% sure they didn't make up the difference when they "measured" the house. Maybe I am just being paranoid. Installers also showed up approx. 1 hr late and banged up some of the walls after I expressly told them to be careful because the house was just painted.
Description of Work: Replaced carpet on two of three levels of my townhouse.

+ -1 moreI thought the price and the excellent installation job outweighed the lack of communication and punctuality.
Description of Work: I needed new carpeting in my basement to sell my house. We went to the store and the salesman showed us the berber that was on sale, which was just fine for our needs. The price included everything-there were no hidden add-on expenses and he didn't try to push anything on us that we didn't want or need. We scheduled the installation for one of my telework days and they were going to call the day before with the expected time of arrival. Instead, two days before, they called wanting to come on one of my in-office days. I declined. Then I never received the phone call the day before telling me what time they were coming. I called and left several messages(probably before the store opened)asking if and when the installers were coming. Finally the store called back and said they'd be here between 10:30 and 11:30. The installation team arrived around 2:00, after I'd called a couple more times inquiring when they might actually show up. They were polite, professional, and efficient. My only complaint is that it was cold weather and they went off and left both my front doors standing wide open a couple times. After I asked them not to do that any more, they began closing the door behind them. The quality of the installation was excellent. They also stretched an older carpet in another room that needed it.

+ -1 moreThe person that they sent to sell it to me was very pleasant, professional and did a good job explaining everything to me. I don't think he brought enough samples for me to pick from. I did feel it was a little pricing but it was nice because he came out to my house.
Description of Work: They came out to my house themselves and brought me samples of their rugs. I picked it out and they came back out a few days later and installed the carpet I chose.

Had rep schedule visit for measurement and firm quote. Once carpet was ordered delivery was a bit long, but not overly extended. Installation occurred when scheduled and completed meeting requirements. Overall good experience and would definitely use this merchant again.

+ -1 moreTony came to my home with carpet samples. He was on time, and helped me with my suggestions. Scheduled the work for the next week, but because of 3 different colors of carpet, they called to say they could not do it until Thursday. Workers came and they did an excellent job of installation. The problem was once they finished they did not do a good job of cleaning up. They didn't have a vacuum and left some debris in the hall bathroom. They also did not replace the 1/4 molding that they ripped out at the bottom of the steps. Called Tony and he said, that they would replace it, but as of this date I have not heard from them, again.
Description of Work: Removed and replaced carpet in 3 bedroom townhouse along with the hallway and stairs.

Tony waited on us and advised us on what would be good for 85 year olds day to day walking - my father in-law sometimes uses a walker. We chose a Berber. The installation was uneventful and my in-laws are very pleased with their new carpeting. We live in another state and were very pleased with the service given to them. The carpeting looks great!

+ -1 moreTony, the sales representative/owner, is a pleasure to work with. He is very professional and provided a lot of advice about the type of carpet that would be appropriate for a room that will be primarily occupied by a toddler. I made an initial selection, but then went back and spent additional time with him to confirm that it was the right choice. Tony would have been able to install the carpet sooner than he did, I asked him to hold off until I had painted the room. Once I was ready, the installation occurred within a week. The installation was generally good, there is a rise in the carpet under the door, and there is a visible (but not terrible) seam where the two pieces come together. The installers told my husband that the rise in the carpet under the door was due to something in the floor, and of course to some degree a seam is unavoidable.
Description of Work: Installation of wall-to-wall carpeting in our very large basement family room that is used primarily as a playroom.

+ -1 moreThe salesman was very knowledgeable and helpful. He helped me pick carpeting to match the tiling and paint already in the basement. They scheduled installation on the day that was most convenient for me--two weeks from then. I got a call the next day to confirm and another call the day before the installation. They sent three guys to remove the old carpet and install the new. It took about 5 hours, and they did nice work. They moved the heavy furniture on their own and put it back afterwards. They vacuumed, cleaned up all debris, and left a great looking carpet.
Description of Work: Tear out old carpeting and put down new Berber carpet throughout the basement -- stairs, living area, hallway, closet, and bedroom.
