We were preparing our house for sale and needed some work done on our front porch, and we were under a very tight deadline. Robert went out of his way to fit us into his schedule. He knew his stuff, and fixed up our porch to make it look very good. His price was very good. He was very honest and economical about what needed to be done, he did not try to exaggerate the job. Trustworthiness meets responsiveness and quality work.

The only downside was it took about two months for them to get to us, due to multiple jobs ahead of us (that likely reflects their low cost and quality of work). Very pleased with the end product and would use again.

Description of Work: Mr. Ivanics was very responsive to request for estimate. When we agreed for him to do the work, he was very punctual and hard working (unlike another company on Angie's List that couldn't seem to be bothered to actually do the work, postponing and delaying until I got rid of them) and very friendly. He repaired mortar and replaced broken bricks and did a very nice job. If I had further Masonry work to do I would absolutely call Mr. Ivanics again.

+ -1 moreOur stonewall at backyard was crumbling, it had many loose and falling pieces at top and sides. Mr. Ivanics spent more than a day to fix it. He did a very good job, the repaired stonewall looks nice and neat. Several flagstones of our front door steps were loose. An employee of his spent a day to reset all stones. The repaired steps look like new. Mr. Ivanics was responsive and hard-working. He was able to complete the job during a few good days of the winter.
Description of Work: Bluestone Masonry repaired our front door steps (2 layers, total 50 square feet) and a section (15 feet long and 2 feet high) of stonewall. It also mounted 2 window well covers for us.

+ 0 moreAll went Perfectly. We set up an appointment for the free estimate. He came on time and did not rush us. He told us how he would repair the steps and if new bricks were needed that they would not match the old brick. He alos explained that he would try to match the mortar color as best he could but our walkway was over 20 years old so an exact match may not be possible. I appreciated this information and there were no surprises. We agreed on a time to start the work but weather delays interfered with the schedule. This is to expected with any outside, weather dependent job. Once the weather cleared, he and his crew showed up on time, did the job beyond my expectations, and completely cleaned up. From start to finish, a very professional company. The stairs and walkway look great.

Description of Work: Bluestone Masonry repaired and replaced the mortar between the bricks in our front walkway. Robert Ivanics was the person we dealt with and he was very courteous and responsive once the appointment had been made. The only problem was that they couldn't come until the end of November so the work was difficult to do and they couldn't come back to clean up the bricks because of the cold. Robert said they would be back when it warms up. We're very happy with the appearance of the sidewalk.

+ -1 moreRobert Ivanics is wonderful!! Can not sing enough of his praises - I've used him before but this job was amazing!! I showed Robert pictures of Colonial Williamsburg - how they use brick in the front of the homes like a large drain. I wanted the same since we have a New England-style Saltbox home! I asked for just a plain running bond pattern of bricks set in sand. Robert did a job that was so much MORE than I expected! He installed a row of bricks to act as an anchor, or solid edge, so that the rows of bricks can't shift over time. He mortared this in to the foundation of the home!!! WOW He was thoughtful and diligent in picking bricks that would match our existing ones. We did a great job cutting the bricks to fit around 2 existing clematis vines. I thought this would be a one day job, it took several, but it's only because he went above and beyond !! I'm still tickled pink everyday when I see the new bricks. You cannot go wrong with Bluestone Masonry and Robert Ivanics. H E KNOWS WHAT HE'S DOING!! !! I trust him totally, and will use him again. Thank you Robert, you're the best!!

We were happy with the work and would use him again for any stone work.

+ -1 moreI Love this company - found them thru Angie's List! And Bluestone Masonry lived up to the reviews. Robert Ivanics is very knowledgeble and very honest. I asked him about other jobs on my property ( a brick column in the garden is leaning, and broken bricks in the driveway edging) and he didn't try to up sell me. The front porch job was messy, they used a saw to cut thru old mortar and it makes lots of dust - but they did a very good job of keeping the dust down. Job was done in one day! My porch looks great and no more water seeping into the basement!! Highly recommend.

He pays attention to details, very well placed, good design and does not take shortcuts. What I liked about him is that no detail is too small for him to ignore. He is an excellent craftsman. I have had a pretty positive experience with him. His price is excellent.

They came back out on Wednesday and did the work. They were even willing to come back out early Saturday morning to clean up. It went very smoothly and we are very pleased. Very professional and easy to interact with. Really know what they are doing. I would definitely recommend this company! We have already asked them to do another job for us.

+ -1 moreFrom the original estimate visit to every step of the job, Robert (the owner of Bluestone and team leader) was outstandingly professional---detailing alternatives, assessing elements of work to be done, options to consider, etc. Since the house was about 55 years old, the size of brick today is not exactly the same as when built. Accommodating this involves more work if done right----and they did it right. Quality, courtesy, immaculate clean up, and friendliness were impossible to not be impressed by----its just way beyond what we at least consider good quality service today. Without any doubt, I would recommend Bluestone to anyone needing masonry work.
Description of Work: My chimney brick was flaking above the roof-line and a few bricks below. I needed the chimney brick removed above the roof-ine and replaced, and needed individual bricks removed and replaced lower down.

+ -1 moreIncredibly well. Not only is Robert extremely reasonable in pricing, but he is a perfectionist, very precise in his work. I had been told this when I checked references prior to selecting him. He was very careful to think about and deal with issues related to the grade of the stoop/walkway and adhered perfectly to his level line. The brick work looks perfect. The final product is impeccable. On top of this, he is incredibly nice and likeable. I have never felt so favorable to a contractor. I have referred him on to several other jobs, and the people who had him do the work are thanking me. We are in the midst of considering him for a very large project for the neighborhood pool, and I hope that he gets the work. I am pretty sure he will based on all the quotes and information we have.
Description of Work: We needed to repair/replace our brick stoop and convert our broken, unlevel concrete sidewalk into a flagstone walkway. We also had some nice custom options like a brick, two-level sidewall on each side of the stoop and a sweeping curve on the flagstone to match the landscape and provide room to bloom for our large hydrangia. Robert also removed and replaced a short brick ledge around our garden and even took up two large holly bushes near the stoop during the project. He cleared the stoop back to its original concrete block, reinforced both sides with a metal bar, and precisely laid the overlaying bricks. For the walkway, he leveled (perfectly) the original sidewalk with new concrete on top. It was so incredibily exact and matched perfectly the level of the mortar lines in the new stoop. He ensured a slight gradient in both the new stoop and new walkway, away from the house to enable water to flow away from the home. He removed all the debris during the project and even brought in some new dirt from another project to help fill in for the raised profile of the new walkway. He selected and laid out a beautiful new walkway with flagstone, showing great taste in the pattern and colors. He hand cut the curve that we wanted, and it looks exceptional.
