The Basementremodeling guys did a excellent job on our basement. They were very responsive to changes we asked for and built the rec room we wanted. The workmen were conscientious and on time and put together a really finished product. True to their advertisement they were very open and transparent about the costs and took us through it all as it was being done and warned us if something was going to cost more. If we had another basement, we would hire them again.

After several years of living in our house with a large unfinished basement, my wife and I decided it was time to make better use of that space. We did extensive research before selecting our contractor, BasementRemodeling, to execute our vision. Unlike many contractors that advertise and offer basement remodeling, but really contract mostly for kitchen and bath projects, BasementRemodeling specializes in basements. Their portfolio of completed projects, some small and some quite large, was very extensive and most impressive. After initial consultations with Tom to discuss our plan and to get preliminary cost and schedule estimates, we knew we had found exactly what we were looking for: a professional, well-organized, and competent basement finishing contractor with fair pricing. Our vision was ambitious: convert about 1,000 0f 1,600 square feet of unfinished basement and storage area to a multi-use space including: a recreation room for watching TV and a bar and entertainment area; an exercise room; a craft room/bedroom; a full bathroom with a large, tiled shower; and three large walk-in closets for craft room supplies, pantry, and exercise equipment. At the initial on-site construction meeting, BasementRemodeling proposed a few minor changes to our vision which we loved and incorporated into our plan! Work started soon after contract signing. Their crews arrived on time and worked hard throughout the day, completing the project on time and for the agreed to price. The crews set up a protective plastic sheeting barrier to prevent the rest of the house from accumulating dust and debris. The crews left the site each day in a safe and clean condition. Every trade was represented by friendly, knowledgeable craftsmen who provided the highest quality product. Every step of the project was completed in a professional manner, from initial planning and negotiating the scope and price, to framing and utilities work, to drywall and painting, to final project closeout and follow-up. Eric, our project manager, was in frequent communication with us and provided us with an updated, detailed schedule each week so we knew exactly what work would be performed each day. BasementRemodeling’s interior designer, Bindu, collaborated closely with us and met with me and my wife before construction began to review and select paint colors, door hardware, and other finishing touches to tie all the spaces together. We are now enjoying our new basement and thank BasementRemodeling for bringing our vision to life. All that use…and still 600 square feet of unfinished storage space! Pavel remolded our basement -- install wet bar, install flooring, install carpet, install tile, painting, install plumbing, install lights and painted sun-room. Our basement was destroyed in the recent flooding experienced in Pavel. Pavel gave us a fair estimate for the work, which included re-framing, drywall installation, painting, laying, flooring, framing and hanging new doors, bathroom tiling, installing plumbing fixtures, reinstalling electrical fixtures, and general touch-up. We are truly impressed not only with the results of our beautiful basement but also their customer service. They think about everything. After 10 years in our house my wife and I decided to finally move forward with finishing our basement. It is a large space, ~1200 sq feet of finished area (included a full bath, amazing bar, main tv/living room, teens play area, and a home gym) so we knew it would be a large job. We did our due diligence and got quotes from several companies. Now that the project is complete, we are very happy we decided on ACH Group as our contractor. The space looks amazing. Our experience has been very good overall, from the initial consultation with Tom Hummer to begin discussing the project and get the initial quote… to then moving into the actual job and meeting Eric, Mike, and Bindu… and working with each of them throughout the process. We wanted a company that did it by the books – ACH handled all that exceptionally – all permits were pulled timely; all inspections were completed by the county. In all honesty, I had a few of the county inspectors compliment ACH’s work to me As with most projects of this size, we had our share of “situations” and “surprises” that came up. Each time, ACH explained the issue to us clearly… answered our questions… explained our options, and then worked with us to find and implement the best possible solution. Every crew/sub-contractor that was involved in the project were great. They were polite, professional, respectful of our home and family (and pets), and just downright friendly and helpful. The work area was kept very clean and orderly throughout the project. Eric Campbell was excellent. Knowing how many hours he is likely working, he always made time to address my questions and concerns and did so in a timely manner. As we neared the end of the project there were a few things that I was very particular about… some a/v wiring issues, etc.… and despite having to undo some completed work to solve the issue, Eric did exactly that and made sure that everything was done just as I requested. In hindsight, if there was any negative or any thing we would change, I think it would be to possibly upgrade our paint selection from a flat paint to something a bit more stain resistant. Don’t get me wrong, the actual painting itself was fantastic – no issues with the painters - the place looks amazing and the painters did very good work. We’ve just realized that either the color we selected (which we love by the way), or the fact that it is a “flat” paint… or the combination of the two – have resulted in marks/smudges very quickly and from very light contact. Lesson learned. All in all, we are extremely happy with ACH Group and the job they did for us. They actually finished a bit ahead of schedule on right on budget – actually, it was just slightly under budget. I highly recommend ACH Group for your basement remodeling/finishing projects. They have been an absolute pleasure to work with, they were thorough, polite, professional, and very nice to work with.

Excellent. My husband and I reviewed about 5 companies before I chose this company. It was the best decision we ever made. They remodeled over 1500 sq. ft. of an unfinished basement (3/4 bathroom with niche and tiled shower and floor; L shaped kitchen bar, office) within 90 days through bad weather and a pandemic. The payment process was easy and the entire team was professional and responsiveness.

We can say enough about the quality and professionalism of Basement Masters. In 2019, they did our basement and we couldn’t be more pleased with the results! So much so that we asked them to do a renovation of our Master Bathroom this year. The results were spectacular. Tom is a pure professional, a great listener and his overall design helped us achieve our goal of modernizing our bathroom. During the pre-construction meeting with Eric, Bindu and Igor, we ironed out all the details which ensured a smooth construction process. Eric, the project manager, was courteous, professional and communicated with us throughout the whole project. Bindu was a joy to work with and offered several design options when we met at the tile shop, and she worked with us to achieve our vision—she was great! Igor was fantastic! With any custom project, there are bound to be multiple decisions that arise during construction. Igor gave us options that we were very happy to implement and they actually improved the end result. Igor really took ownership of the project and the pride in his work is evident with the finished result. The same is true for Josimer, who is a magician with tile! We had several different kinds of tile with a complicated design on the floor and shower, which he matched beautifully. The result is stunning. The scheduled slipped a little due to weather—several ice storms, and material delays, but these were unavoidable and well communicated. In the end, the project ended less than a week from originally scheduled. We are really pleased with all of the employees and recommend them highly. Five out of five stars—wish we could give them six!!

I called Basement Remodeling on the Angie's List number about 10 days ago to set up an appointment for an estimate and was told Greg would get back to me within 30 to 60 minutes. I didn't hear back. I then called four more times over the next few days only to be given essentially the same message--that he'd call me back promptly. When I expressed concern on my fourth and fifth calls about not hearing back, I was told my messages would be flagged as urgent. Still no response! I then decided to call the company directly rather than through the Angie's List number to find out why no one was contacting me. I explained the situation and was told my message would be passed on to the president of the company. This was last Friday (2/26) and I've yet to hear back from the president or from Greg.

Having had work done to our home in previous years we had never been confident to pass along any referrals, until now, with ACH group basement remodeling!! We had noticed their advertisement posted on someone's lawn from walking around the neighborhood. We decided to give them a call after we had other contractors either ghosted us (blow us off) or by giving us the runaround. ACH Group was different right from the start. We had a senior design consultant (Tom) come by to see the space and hear our vision. He was able to give us an estimate that same day. We never felt any pressure. Start date we met with the Project Manager (Eric) and his team. Again we went over our vision and discussed our goals with the limited and complicated space we have. We live in an attached, 864 sq foot home built in 1939. The home definitely comes with its issues on space coupled with our goals, we knew we were in for a **** of a ride (many of them due to city permitting issues, not ACH). As with any project problems arise but the solutions to the problems actually made the space even MORE amazing than I could have envisioned! Who would have thought! We are so incredibly happy how the space turned out. Eric the lead project manager is absolutely someone with a gift. My husband and I joked how he can make anyone feel pretty zen after speaking to him. He would explain things to us in detail, he was understanding if we felt frustrated and only to reassure that all would be well and it was. Just shows us how confident he is in his team to deliver something really spectacular. We should also add that they are probably the only company, due to their vast experience and organization, who would have been able to navigate the city code, permitting, issues and be persistent and creative to work through it with us. The contractors were all so great and worked extremely hard. Never did we ever feel anything but pure kindness and professionalism. My only problem with ACH Group is that I can't hire them for remodeling upstairs! Guess that is what makes them so wonderful with what they do. We strongly believe they were the only ones to navigate our project to the quality it had come out to and in perfect time. My advice to anyone is if you need your basement remodeled go with ACH and stand out of their way! Sit back and let them do their thing as they are top notch. 5 stars all the way! Joe and Ana

We finished our basement with Basement Remodeling. It was a great learning experience. The services provided from the beginning to the end of the project were professional, very clean (during this pandemic), and respectful of our needs. I never imagined what our basement could look like until working with them from the initial design, flooring, paint colors, inspections, changes, to the final days. They were timely and each contractor showed a high level of skill and experience. I would recommend them to anyone.

We had an unfinished basement that needed finishing! From the get go, we loved the program that Basementremodeling.com offered. The approach, starting with the estimate was clear, definitive, explained so we felt informed about the plan and approach. At the first visit, we were introduced to the Project Manager, the Operations/QA Lead and Designer. They walked us through the space, offered insights and ideas for changes, solicited our feedback and really worked WITH us. Once the work began, the crew was timely, efficient, neat, respectful. This was especially important and relevant given we were in the throes of COVID and extra care and caution needed to be undertaken. As the work progressed, if there were questions or concerns, they were followed up and addressed 100% to our satisfaction. Note, this is construction work, there were some surprises and some changes needed, but we felt the team listened to us or explained things to us as those things arose. If my arm were twisted to provide for one area of improvement, there were two times where a decision was made (as needed due to the construction and timing) where it would have been good (and in the end cost less in time, energy, effort, materials) to advise us of what needed to be done and why. In the end though, those items did not have a negative impact on the whole; totally just a communication thing. All told, we could not be any happier with our basement! It looks FABULOUS and we HIGHLY recommend this team if you have a finishing or re-modeling need for your basement!

This review is submitted after 6 months of final completion and we are happy with the outcome. The "Basement Remodeling Company" has done an excellent job, despite the many challenges arising during the initial days of COVID restrictions. The basement remodeling included completely finishing a 1550 square feet basement, one bedroom, a gym, entertainment space, bathroom, and dry bar. The quality of workmanship is very good. All the subcontractors did their work as per the original contract. There were minor mistakes made in electric, but those were taken care of immediately. We expected regular inspection from project manager that didn't really happen, but things were taken care of by the subcontractors or supervisors when asked. The framing, dry wall work, painting job, dry bar and carpeting were all very professionally done. The bathroom was built according to specifications and minor adjustments that we requested were taken care of immediately. All the contractors were patient, courteous and accommodated our requests without any complaints. The cost of the whole project is a little bit on the higher side, but it is well worth the extra cost, as it included professional architectural plans, periodic inspections by county officials and approvals.

We are so excited to use our newly remodeled basement! This has changed our lives and made living in our home so much better! Working with the basement remodeling tram has been nothing short of a wonderful experience! They helped us make decisions along the way and supported the whole process. Their Architect Bindu was amazing and worked well with their project managers Eric and Gheorghe to make sure the execution was precise. Her plans were insightful and she helped with the selection of materials. I loved her idea of the waterfall stone quartz! It turned out amazing! I also loved how large the spaces are! Igor and Jorge are the equivalent of remodeling ROCK ⭐️!! My wife was so happy that she went out and bought them a box of pastries each! They were so kind and there was nothing they could not do! In fact, we had also decided to order a new fridge for the upstairs kitchen, and Igor just so happened to be there that day. The delivery man could not get it in the door and wanted to cancel. Igor came up and did everything needed to get my wife’s fridge in this row house l! We have IGOR to thank for that!!! I also need to mention Nastasia! She handled all the codes and inspections amd was a joy to work with and kept us informed of everything! Last, their contractors were professional, courteous, clean and experts. A few stand out! Paul, the Electrician was fast and found us a light fixture needed when it was difficult! Thank you! The plumber was a master like none I had ever seen! He helped us prepare our basement plumbing for a future upstairs bathroom remodel! I could go on... The only frustrations I can remember is it took longer than we hoped, but I think this can be expected with all we have gone through together this year! We finished our unfinished basement – nothing too terribly fancy but to help give us more space and a great place for our kids to play. They did a good job. There’s a lot about construction that isn’t fun, especially when you’re living in the house – the noise, sometimes a blocked driveway, a huge and smelly dumpster, etc. However, these things are basically unavoidable and you’re going to have them no matter who does your project, so I’m going to stick to the things that stood out to me about this company specifically. I’ll give a breakdown of what we really liked and what could have been improved. First, what we really liked: 1. the price wasn’t the cheapest we found, but it was the best value. We explained what we wanted and the price we were quoted was what we paid (there was only one very small unexpected change, less than 1% of the cost of the project, which is very good for construction projects). Be wary if you find someone quoting you a rock bottom price, since it probably means that you’ll get nickeled and dimed all the way through or you’ll get substandard work. 2. Second, the finished product is stunning. Really, we had an idea of what it would look like but the look of the basement is just great. Major kudos on that. 3. Third, the schedule was good, although it could have been a bit better. Some of it was outside their control (several backordered items) although at other times the gaps between one set of workers coming and the next seemed longer than it needed to be (at the longest point, we went over a week with no workers present). Granted, we’re in the middle of both a pandemic and also a massive upheaval in supply chains and the economy in general, so despite this being frustrating, I’m saying it was a limited issue that I suspect would not be a problem in normal conditions. 4. Fourth and finally, they had a reasonable contract that was not one sided. I’ve had past contractors that I didn’t pursue because of bad contracts. The details of a contract matter the most when something goes wrong, and thankfully this project went pretty smoothly, but it’s always good to know it’s fair just in case (of course, please review it yourself or hire someone to help you review it). What could have been improved: 1. On paper the communication was great but could have been improved. They have a lot of what seem to be automated processes set up to send you an updated schedule once a week and basically a comment box to leave feedback on various aspects of the project. They also have an extensive questionnaire at the beginning of the project. However, I got the impression that those forms were not read – I had a number of times throughout where I brought something up through those and it didn’t get addressed until I brought it up by email or phone. This is an opportunity for improvement. 2. Although everything important turned out okay in the end, the estimating process could have been improved. Before I signed the contract, I had a long list of questions, the answers to which were always what I was looking for. But it didn’t appear that any of my questions or concerns were passed along from the estimator to the construction team because almost every issue I brought up I had to explain again, from scratch, and some of the things the estimator said were done and others were not. I don’t think it’s worth going into every detail here, but needless to say, anything you ask for or ask about, please get it in writing, preferably in the contract, just to be sure. This didn’t end up harming the final product, but it was frustrating at times. Overall, having gone through several renovations and even building an entire new house, I would say this is definitely on the upper end of my experiences, and that’s saying a lot. I would certainly recommend looking into this company for your basement projects. This was the best choice for us, and maybe it will be for you as well!

Best choice of contractors We did a lot research to find the best contractor to convert our dark, dank 1000 sq foot basement into a modern living area. Based on the advice of neighbors and online reviews we chose 8 contractors to give us estimates. We were most impressed with Basement Remodeling/ACH Group. Because of their standardized business model we were able to receive an estimate during the initial appointment. It was immediately transparent that this company was extremely well organized. The fact they specialize in basements is like having a heart condition and having a cardiologist rather than a general practitioner. The owner, Pavel, is a unique hands on mastermind of the operation. He possesses an energy and enthusiasm that worked in our favor many, many times. After deciding Basement Remodeling/ACH Group was at the top of our list, we vetted them to ensure they were everything we were looking for. I asked them for references and I received contact information on over a hundred past clients. I randomly selected one from each page and contacted 10 of them by e-mail. I received replies back from 9 of them, all saying how pleased they were with the work. Two invited me to their homes and I went to one. He was an architect who was proud to show me his basement. Several clients told me how skilled Pavel’s subcontractors were. We found this to be true and almost all the subcontractors worked exclusively for the company. One of the contractors told me the reason he liked working for Pavel is that he always got paid on time. That bit of insight told me a lot about why Basement Remodeling is so good at what it does. We were now convinced Basement Remodeling were the best contractors for us. Our home is in DC and that meant lots of permits. Pavel’s point person on permits was excellent in obtaining them and being present for the inspection visits. Our project included digging out 3’ of concrete/dirt, installing a dry basement/sump pump system, new set of stairs, new HVAC, laundry room, bath, den and living area. The final basic cost did not differ from the original estimate. I never felt pressured to spend more than what was originally quoted. In fact it was quite the opposite. There were upgrades (such as increased sound insulation, fire sprinklers) that I insisted on. Pavel provided advice as to whether my ideas were overkill or not. He gave me options and recommendations but the decisions were always mine. Many times Pavel recommended a less costly option to accomplish my desired result. We are very pleased with all the decisions we made in converting our basement to a livable space. The best decision we made was choosing Pavel and Basement Remodeling.

The total experience with Basement Master Waterproofing and Foundation Repair was excellent. The came and offered suggestions to address the problem. We agreed on a full excavation of the exterior walls and sealing to stop the water from entering the basement. The job has been a success. During the most recent heavy raining we have been dry and without an excessive moisture.

We recently moved from Florida to Maryland and bought a house with an unfinished basement. My wife and I decided to finish the basement and began the search for a company to handle our project.
