Pavel and his group at ACH provided us with a beautifully finished basement. I had several custom projects with pictures of what I had in mind. ACH group was able to accommodate this and gave a finished product that was exactly what I envisioned. From the start, Pavel was up front with costs (which turned out to be consistent in the end) and was about mid range of other quotes we had received. I chose this group due to numerous positive reviews on Angie's list and I am happy that I did. The crews were all very professional and respectful of our home and time. They cleaned up the work area every night. They often worked weekends and nights to get the job done. However, they would only do this if cleared by us first to make sure it was ok. Pavel takes pride in his work and wants it to be done correctly and with high standards for aesthetics. The only negative of the project was that 2 drawer fronts to our custom shelving project had to be reordered twice at the very end. The project was 99% completed and we were able to move in to the space and start using it at promised time but just had to wait on those materials a few extra weeks. However, Pavel made accommodations/fair arrangement to cover the inconvenience. In the end, it was not a big deal and we appreciated his efforts to keep things running on time. The custom woodworking looks great and the quality of the entire project was superb. We have had many compliments from family and friends on our beautiful new basement. I have no hesitation recommending this group and would gladly hire them again for future projects.

Looked up drywall on Angie's List and this company popped up. Called, but he doesn't do just drywall.... Maybe change your categorization.

I wanted to get the basement finished, but, I had two primary concerns. Time, and money. He quoted me at least $2k less than the next company (I received quotes from 3 other contractors). He was also the only one who could get started on the work immediately, and was finished a few days quicker than expected. Workers were very professional. Very pleasant experience overall...Highly recommended.

Mr. Pavel was able to meet with me earlier than scheduled which worked out on both our behalf. He was quick, professional and courteous. He let me know up front that his company was not going to be able to be competitive in pricing this kind of job because his company typically does larger jobs than the work I was requesting. His estimate wasn't excessively high, but I did find a couple other people who were willing to do similar work for less. In the end I did not end up doing the project at all.

From the beginning, ACH (Pavel) was very easy to work with. Unlike other contractors we contacted, Pavel provides a detailed brochure that lists the pricing and add-ons, which takes away the "black box" element that we felt with other estimates. We were able to assess the relative cost of the extras that we wanted, without having to wonder about where he was coming up with the prices. Pavel and his crew were easy to work with and communicated with us almost daily about each aspect of the process. At the beginning, just after framing, we realized that we were going to need to replace our HVAC system, which was more involved than simply replacing the unit. Pavel was extremely flexible, moving his crew's work around so that the HVAC company could have primary access to the basement for a few days. We do not have outdoor access to the basement, so the crew used our front door until they cut out the egress window in the basement. They then used the window to come and go, which greatly reduced the traffic and mess in the house. The various crews of workers who came and went were polite and professional, and always communicated well if there were any questions or concerns. Pavel was patient with our questions and despite a few minor setbacks during the process. The only negatives in the experience had to do with permits/inspections that surprised us with additional work that needed to be done at an additional cost. These issues were mostly electrical, and had to do with the change in code since our home was originally built. Overall, the experience was good and we would gladly recommend ACH to our friends and neighbors who are considering a basement project.

We called ACH group to come give us an estimate on refinishing our basement. They told us that our home was too far away for them to do the job. I see now that they don't service Carroll County, but our home is only about 20 minutes from Owings Mills. It seems ridiculous to me that they would not even consider the job, especially in this market. I was particularly disappointed because all of their reviews were good.

ACH Group did an outstanding job finishing 1000 sq. ft. basement. I got estimates from 4 contractors, all found through Angie's list. Pavel impressed me right away with his straight forward very organized and itemized estimate. He was very competitive with the others but the others were just not as detailed and clear. Pavel came to my house twice and spent all the time I needed to make sure we were on the same page before I decided to go with his company. The contract detail also was very key in making us at ease. We knew what to expect. Pavel is very easy to get a hold of throughout the build. He uses email and texts to keep you aware of the schedule and any changes. We were in contact as much as I needed, he responds very quickly. Whenever I saw something I thought needed to be changed or if I just had questions they had no problem listening and either changing or explaining their plan. Pavel is very detail oriented and wants to do a good job. He understands that if we are happy with the final product that we will recommend him to others. During the build we made decisions jointly and easily before any work was done so there were no surprises. All the workers were punctual, polite and made an effort to keep the work space as quite and clean as possible. I am as pleased with ACH Group as I have ever been with any contractor. I can feel very comfortable recommending Pavel and his crew to friends and family

We really like them but we decided to move and I even told Mr. Pavel like if we had something to do here because our basement is unfinished but I don?t think that they work in Pennsylvania its outside of their little area but I really like Mr. Pavel ? he is very organize, very professional and he has skills for electrical, HVAC and plumbing works. We had a really good experience with him and his quote was reasonable. We have a plumbing week and we had have like four plumbers before we had joined the Angie?s List and nobody of them figure out where the leak was coming from really they don?t take much time and when he was here for quite some time and so he figured out where it was coming from and how so we had to fix it and so we had some main problems with the house so we decided to sell it and move so that?s the reason we didn?t used them but I really like him. He did not charge us for the estimate. Mr. Pavel does home renovations for decks and all that stuff. Other stuff he does like electrical in conjunction with the renovation. He is a license plumber so he can do all the plumbing work for the bathroom remodeling work instead of getting an outside plumber. That?s why I really like about him because he could do everything. We did have HVAC problem in the house to and he could fix that. He said he had done different projects were they had done like a whole house remodeled. I really do like him. If we can finish our basement I am going to call him just to make sure he was able to work in our area because he was very professional.

Representative came to house to give us estimate on remodeling our basement which was down to bare walls. We had done some work ourselves and were looking to have it completed. they told us they would tear down all the work we had done and do it all for ALOT of money. The rep. didn't seem interested in doing our job didn't take any measurements or give any ideas. He just wrote a few numbers on a page. He seemed annoyed that he would have to tear down what had been down. Gave us a quote and left. Got a follow up call from owner who explained the company policies. I explained we were not going to put a lot of money into this project due to possible flooding in the future. We have decided to go with a handyman company instead of a full remodeling job. ACH is a good company for big jobs.

My experience with ACH was excellent. Pavel was very clear about what he would be responsible for and what I would be responsible for. He had a timeline when I would need to have the materials ready so that we could stay on schedule. When we initially met during the consultation, I explained my situation and when I needed to have the area ready. He was very realistic regarding his workload and we discussed when he could finish the job. Everything went so smoothly that they finished the space a week ahead of schedule, which was my initial requested date. During the whole process, Pavel was involved either on site or in contact with me electronically. The team did a fantastic job right from the beginning. They were all very friendly and knowledgeable whenever I had questions. They all worked very hard and many were even working weekends and nights which helped to complete the job early. They always cleared it with me before working after hours. They are all very respectable and kept the noise to a minimum as much as possible. After everything is said and done I really don't believe I would change one thing about the whole experience. I feel that ACH is a contracting firm that is honest, dependable and the job they did for me shows the pride in their work.

I called in to get an appointment for an estimate to remodel a condo main bathroom (standard size: 5x8) and 1/2 bathroom (powder room). I was told that the company does not specialize in small size bathrooms and that the starting cost would be $10,000. The person I spoke with was courteous and he did not attempt to mislead me. His statement was quick and clear. While I appreciate that, I am surprised that they have such a policy. If the company is not willing to work on smaller, condominium size bathrooms, then they should put it upfront on Angie's List in their company description, clearly stating the type of work they do and the starting prize they would impose before any work is commenced. This was a downer, although an honest one! I felt I wasted my time by searching for them and calling them up to inquire.

I first met with Pavel around the end of the year. He gave me a quote for the labor and then we were to pick our finishes. This took quite a bit longer then we expected in part because we went with a brushed bronze finish that proved somewhat hard to match but which we really like and in general wading through the choices available overall for such a project since it was a total remodel. When we were ready to start we got on the schedule about 2 weeks out. Once started the actual work took 2 1/2 weeks total. Due to the layout of our house it was easy to isolate this area which they did with plastic sheeting to control dust. ACH has their own crew that has their respective part of the project. All seemed good at their specialty. All workmanship was excellent but I have to specially mention the tile work. We went with a porcelain slate look tile after deciding against natural slate and it turned out amazing. We have some other work to be done in the near future and intend to engage ACH.

PAVEL to the rescue! We had an amazing experience having Pavel install a new powder room for us, that we asked him for an estimate on removing our ugly old linoleum floor and installing ceramic tile. His quote was surprisingly high, and so we went with someone else - HUGE MISTAKE! The contractor we went with stole materials from us and left us with an uneven floor and tiles that were not secure the day after completion. We called Pavel and begged him to help us out. He took pity on us and agreed to do the job for a bit less than originally quoted (the old linoleum had been removed so it was a bit less labor, I think). We should have just gone with Pavel to begin with and would have saved ourselves money and the huge headache. He fit us into his busy schedule and had the job done, quickly and correctly. We hope to work with Pavel again in the future!

We initially called Pavel when a neighbor recommended his company. After seeing her basement, I decided it was worth a call. His estimate was much lower than the other companies we contacted, and he was able to provide us with a much more custom-built basement, with way more bells and whistles. Before, our basement was dark and partially remodeled by the previous owners. Now, we have a beautiful new living space, where we spend much of our time. Where there was once a little closet with a toilet and a piece of paneling with a cabinet pull for a door, there is a beautiful new wall that closes in a gorgeous new powder room. The old living area had 60's tiled flooring and wood paneling everywhere. Lighting was minimal and fluorescent. We now have a beautiful living area with recessed lighting. They even made the stair wall a half wall to open up the space. It looks so much bigger! The kids have a playroom, complete with a storage closet created under the stairs. Rather than just give us a smaller door, Andy cut a custom-shaped door that looks awesome! While we don't really use it for storage currently, the kids have made a much-used fort out of it! Finally, my craft room. Pavel gave some great suggestions when he initially looked over the room, including counters and cabinets. We ultimately decided on a huge closet with lighting within to store all of my crafts. The lighting, the outlets and everything within work wonderfully, and I have already put the room to good use. We had laminate flooring put in the craft room and the powder room, and carpet put in the rest of the area. One of the nicest things about this remodel was that we were able to choose every aspect of the items being installed. We wanted brushed nickel, and Pavel made sure that was on all the items requiring metal. (Even down to the the hinges of the doors and the door stoppers) So many of the companies we spoke to had a "this is what you get" mentality. If we didn't like the fixtures, that was too bad. That's all they had. It was very frustrating. Pavel and his crew worked hard to ensure we had everything we wanted. Some of our doorways were very short due to I-beams and vents, and they cut the doors down to size in order to make us satisfied. We wanted to avoid certain types of doors, and they did everything they could to accommodate. Any issues that arise, Pavel was quick to address. If some construction needed to take place that was not initially discussed, (i.e. drilling into the concrete floor and rerouting the plumbing for the new toilet), Pavel did not charge us for it because it was not in the initial quote. He really worked with us on this! The only problems that really came up had to do with the drywall installation, where we had some problems with communication with the two people taping and finishing the walls. Otherwise, it all went smoothly. Andy was especially accommodating and very kind to my children while the work was going on. I can only imagine how crazy it must have been to have 3 little ones running around on the floor above him as he worked. He didn't complain, and was very sweet to them. My kids were very sorry to see them all go! We have enjoyed every minute of our new basement. There is no doubt that I would call on ACH Group, LLC to do any other remodeling jobs we have. Are we satisfied? ABSOLUTELY!

We took bids from several contractors in the area and Pavel not only offered us the lowest price, but just as importantly left us feeling very confident in his abilities. He offered us help with designing a new floor plan for our basement and half bathroom and provided insightful suggestions that worked well for our space. He was extremely flexible with additions/modifications to the plan and started and completed the job exactly when he said he would. His crew was friendly and respectful of our home and Pavel made frequent visits to oversee progress on the remodel and to touch base with us. There were very few problems with the entire remodel and those few were quickly and effectively resolved. Pavel payed close attention to details, making it clear that he takes a lot of pride in his work. We would recommend Pavel for any project.

Our home in Harford County was recently renovated by ACH Group. They were hard working, attentive, cooperative, focused, and a pleasure to work with at all times. Improvements were made to the entire home interior, involving the entire house except for the upstairs bedrooms and bathrooms, downstairs utility room, and garage. The final building plan included a major redesign of the upper level, including kitchen, dining room, and living room, addition of a lower level bedroom, bathroom, and family room, and improvements to the staircase, entrance foyer, and fireplace. Major demolition included removal of paneling, carpeting, old appliances, laminate flooring, drywall, and kitchen cabinets. New construction included installation of new kitchen appliances, new kitchen cabinets, kitchen island, granite counter-tops, tile flooring, new drywall, and conversion of lower level half bathroom into a full bathroom. The entire renovation process, including all written estimates, building plans, modifications, and minor changes, was negotiated fairly, honestly, and professionally. The work crew was always courteous and respectful. At no time did ACH appear to take shortcuts or cut corners. Most importantly, ACH was ready and willing to communicate when necessary so that we were made aware of any problems or unexpected delays. The difficulties of living in a home while it is under reconstruction are often challenging. ACH was careful to respect our space and privacy all while working tirelessly to complete their daily tasks. Every effort was made to accommodate our family while construction was underway. Even though the entire project took almost three months to complete, we felt that ACH was always committed to the job and working hard to avoid any unforseen delays. Several aspects of our remodeling were unique, including the design and installation of an island in place of the interior wall separating the kitchen and dining rooms. After discussing all options with ACH, the island was designed to fit the existing space and eventually fitted with granite counter tops and new cabinets. Lighting, ceiling fans, bathroom fixtures, flooring, and other building materials were easily purchased locally at Lowe's or Home Depot and installed by the ACH crew. When making payments for service, ACH provided all receipts for materials which we, as a customer, had agreed to pay for. Many of the reasons why ACH earned our business were seen in small but important details. For example, the design of our kitchen island was based on several discussions between us and ACH which resulted in a very attractive layout that fits perfectly the size and informal style of the finished kitchen. The downstairs brick fireplace was converted to a very attractive focal point by adding a new mantel, granite hearth, and painted drywall. A downstairs I-beam support pole was framed, covered with drywall, painted, and incorporated into the bedroom wall. Recess lighting was added upstairs and downstairs. Doors and drawers on our kitchen cabinets were fitted mechanically so they are self-closing if pushed gently. Recess lights were wired to dimmer switches upon request. The size of our kitchen was expanded by removing an existing upstairs closet and attic access, adding a new closet downstairs, and relocating the new attic access into the master bedroom closet. Fiberglass insulation was added to the interior walls for the downstairs bedroom in order to make it soundproof. Foam and fiberglass insulation was also added to the exterior downstairs walls to improve energy efficiency. Mosaic tile back splash was installed between cabinets and countertops. All wiring, plumbing, painting, excavation, framing, and finish work was done carefully and cleanly. Crown molding was added above kitchen cabinets and along the ceiling above the fireplace mantel. The kitchen tile was installed in a diamond pattern which added to the appearance. When an appliance delivery crew was reluctant to move a new appliance thru a narrow doorway, ACH stepped in to assist and ensure that this would not hold up the job. All these small details were improvements on the existing interior, and were often suggested by ACH, who was always looking for ways to make a good job look a little better. Their work converted a three bedroom, two bathroom home into a four bedroom home with three full bathrooms. Separate kitchen, dining room, and living room were combined into a single open layout with refinished wood floors, custom built island, and new kitchen tile. Along staircases, wrought iron banister and hand railings were replaced with stained and painted wood. The whole house has been transformed into something we could not have imagined until seen in total. We enjoy the look of newly stained wood, freshly painted walls, new granite countertops, new tile, new carpet, and many other improvements that we feel has increased greatly the value of our home. We had never before taken on a project of this size or cost but are very satisfied with all aspects of the finished work. We had heard that dealing with independent building contractors could be problematic but we enjoyed the experience overall even though it required lots of patience and trust. We trusted ACH at all times and felt their focus was on completing the job and meeting our expectations. We recommend ACH to anyone considering home improvements, and feel that they are well qualified to perform the type of reconstruction that was done to our house. Their good work habits, attentions to detail, customer service, flexibility, reliability, and craftsmanship are on display at all times and are just a few reasons they should be considered for a large home improvement project. Neighbors, family, and friends who have seen how much has changed have already commented positively on what they see. They are impressed with the improvements and pleasantly surprised at the transformation. A final word about cost since for most of us this is probably the single most important factor that influences our decisions regarding home improvements. ACH was always honest about costs up front and showed respect for our bottom line by working hard to earn their pay. This mutual respect went a long way when considering how much time, effort, and dollars are involved in a major renovation. We feel that our money was well spent and have no regrets or second thoughts. The work we had done should last for many, many years. If we had to do it all over again, I doubt we would do it any differently. We trust ACH and feel that they can do for others what they did for us.

After reviewing several companies on Angie's list, we decided to get quotes from three companies for our basement project. We chose ACH as one of the companies because of the wonderful reviews they have on Angie's list. All of the reviews were spot on. When we called to setup a time to get a quote, we spoke to Pavel, the company owner. He was very professional and came out on the day and time we agreed to meet. Pavel looked at our basement space and helped us map out the architecture choices we had for the space. ACH was the only company we interviewed that had a price sheet at the initial meeting. Pavel went line by line through the price sheet. It made it easy for us to determine what items we had to have in the basement and how much they would cost. The quote we got from ACH was very competitive and we chose to work with them. Pavel arranged a timeframe that worked for us to complete the basement. Through the whole project, Pavel was on site almost daily. He included us in every decision and ensured we were completely happy with everything they were doing. If we were not happy with the workmanship on anything, Pavel made sure it was fixed to our satisfaction. Pavel constantly watched over every step of our project and was pickier then we were with the workmanship. Any questions we had Pavel answered. He was very responsive to our emails and phone calls. The basement looked great when it was completed. We could not have been happier with the quality of the work or with the finished product. Our basement looks great. We would definitely work with ACH again. They were wonderful!

We are first time homeowners with no experience with home renovations whatsoever. That's what led us to Angie's List where we compiled a list of 15-20 contractors to get an estimate for finishing our basement. Our home is only 2 years old with an almost 1000 sq ft unfinished basement that needed everything: framing, drywall, electrical work, painting, and flooring. Over the course of 1-2 months we collected at least a dozen estimates which ranged from 18 to 40 K. Several articles I read mentioned not going with the lowest estimate in case the low costs were due to cutting corners. However, ACH was our lowest estimate and b/c of the excellent first impression Pavel made, his body of work and the fantastic reviews on Angie's List, we chose ACH. A couple of things we liked right off the bat: 1) Pavel came to the first meeting with a lot of information. He has a great booklet that includes all itemized costs, what is included in his standard package price, an "a la carte" menu of all sorts of options as well as copies of his licenses and other credentials/awards. He was by far the most organized and efficient during that first presentation/estimate meeting. So many contractors we met with seemed to have arbitrary pricing that did not appear transparent. This made me nervous as we live in a nice area and I didn't want to pay a premium because of that 2) Prompt response: Pavel was very easy to communicate with and the speed with which he responded to emails was fantastic. Since we both work, it was important to work with someone who could easily communicate via email. Believe it or not, we had one contractor tell us he didn't use email at all- given how much input you need to give on a frequent basis on a project of this size, that was not an option for us The process: Pavel was very clear in his communication about the timeline and when to expect his crew. There were never any surprises. As for the crew- very polite and professional. Very, very clean- they left no trash behind and cleaned up the work site on a daily basis. On occasion, they would want to work a weekend date to get ahead of schedule (which was fine by us) but always asked permission and were never intrusive or loud. Pavel did not disappear through the process- we were in frequent contact- either we would see him or talk to him via phone/email. There was frequent double checking of options, which we liked so that mistakes did not occur. Payment- I liked that we paid Pavel in 4 installations b/c this ensured that we could have questions/issues addressed before giving the next payment. He promptly provided receipts for all payments. The whole process went smoother than I could have ever imagined. I was very nervous about home renovations especially in this area where it can become very pricey. Pavel seemed very respectful of our budget and did not try to sell us on expensive upgrades which we could not afford. We would work with ACH again without reservation.

I called this company because of the rave reviews on Angie's List. I was sorely disappointed. I am interested in remodeling our two upstairs full baths, and converting a hall closet into a laundry area. First, when I called, Pavel gave me a limited time frame during which he could come to our house. He acted as if he didn't want to come, and told me multiple times duirng the conversation that he would call first, and that if I didn't answer, he would not come. He agreed to come on Thursday, November 15, 2012 between 6-8 p.m., which was fine. He did come during that time frame, after calling first. He spent no more than 10 minutes in the house. He glanced quickly into the 2 baths and hall closet. He did not ask me any specifics about what I wanted to change in the bathrooms, or what I was looking to do. He spent most of the time telling me what I should look for in a contractor, all the while acting as if he assumed that contractor was not going to be him. I was very puzzled. He then scribbled 3 figures on a yellow pad, one for each bath/closet. He told me that those figures represented labor only, and that we would purchase all the materials ourselves. That would be fine if he had given me an estimate of what materials might cost, but he did not. This left me with no idea how to compare his estimates with others we have received. He offered no estimate of what the entire project would cost us. He gave a very definite impression that he did not expect us to hire him, and that he could not wait to get out of our house. After reading all the reviews on Angie's List about how well he worked with his clients, I was very surprised by his attitude. I mentioned this to some friends, and they suggested that perhaps becuase of the positive reviews, Pavel had more work than he could handle and that this was his way of discouraging us. If that is the case, I certainly would have very much appreciated it if he had just said he didn't have time for our job. Instead, he wasted his time and ours. Since then we have gotten four other estimates, and have chosen another contractor.

Let?s start at the beginning. I wanted to finish my basement to include a full bath with bathtub. I wanted a bedroom with closet and a storage closet in the outer room. I also wanted wiring for home theater in the walls. I got 4 estimates from Angie?s List contractors. All rated A. Pavel of ACH was the most professional from the start. He provided a booklet in which he provided his pricing policies, what?s standard, what?s optional, his electrician?s license, his plumber?s license, his insurance certificate?.. He talks fast but do not confuse that with being a fast talker. He is thorough and just excited about his work. His prices are also better than the others?. Pavel is the guy to hire. I have heard stories of contractors who disappear for days on end during the job. An email to Pavel was always answered the next day. Any problems were taken care of right away. If he needed clarification, he emailed me and so on. He marveled that we only saw each other face to face about 4 times during the whole job. I told him that he was so responsive to my emails I didn?t feel a need to ?call a meeting.? Examples: 1) Pavel asked where I wanted the cable outlet in the bedroom to be installed. I said it depends on the furniture layout. It could go here or there. He said well lets install both at no extra charge. 2) Wiring for a wall fixture coming down the steps was not in my original plan. But Pavel wants a job he can be proud of and says you know you should have a wall sconce about here. It would look nice. I?ll wire for it and install it at no extra charge. These may sound like small things but??. Are you starting to see that this is the contractor you should hire? My basement looks beautiful. My neighbors think it is beautiful. The basement and the building experience exceeded my expectations. By the way, Pavel may tell you as he told me that he may not be able to get to your job right away. Don?t let that deter you. The honesty, professionalism, pride in workmanship, responsiveness, value ?..are worth the wait. By the way, he did start on the exact day promised. He lost time due to hurricane conditions and worked weekends to make it up. I did not pressure him on any deadline. He did it on his own. Pavel deserves all the great reviews on Angie's List.

I sensed right from the beginning that Pavel was the guy I wanted to hire for the job. He gave us a work schedule and completed construction on time. Pavel is very good a keeping the home owner up to date with any changes. We ran into one surprise with the plumbing. The existing sewage pipe was located too close to the surface to allow the new bath to drain, so we needed to install a sewage sump and piping. He treated us very fairly on the pricing. I cannot say too many good words about Pavel's attention to detail. His punch list at the end was 4 times longer than mine. The area is perfect and everything works as it should. I would recommend Pavel to anyone looking to remodel their basement. While not the most important issue, his pricing was the best we saw from any of the contractors we contacted.

ACH Group completed a project finishing our basement. No exaggeration, it was the best experience I have had with a service provider to date. I got 4 quotes and ACH?s quote was competitive. I decided on them because they expressed the desire not only to complete my basement, but to design and build a great space. The team worked with me on a daily basis to ensure expectations were set and responded well to all (many) questions and changes I had. They did not cut corners, and the materials that they specify are of higher grade than what is usual in the market. Throughout the project, both the quality of the materials used and the work performed exceeded my expectations. They took great pride in completing the project on time.
