I thought it would be impossible for Basement Masters to live up to the reviews on Angie?s list. I was wrong. We hired Basement Masters to finish our basement, including a kitchenette and a full bathroom. The space itself posed some challenges with beams, duct work, and one incorrectly placed support column, but Pavel was able to draw on his experience working on basements and came up with some great ideas. The finished space looks great. Pavel?s pricing was transparent and easy to understand. He provided baseline pricing, and then we were able to add all of the bells and whistles we wanted, even after the job started, without getting gouged. The prices for most options and upgrades are in Pavel?s brochure, and if we wanted something a little different, or that required custom pricing, Pavel was fair. Overall, we received an excellent value, especially considering the professionalism Pavel and his crew demonstrated. The job was completed between January 2014 and March 2014. Pavel started when he said he would start, and he finished on time. Pavel?s crew and subcontractors showed up when they were supposed to and worked full days, even through the snow in February and March. They were all professional, courteous, and worked relatively quietly. They also cleaned up the work space every day. Pavel is in constant communication with his guys and you. He communicated by phone, text, and email. He was prompt with responses to our questions and concerns. He proactively kept us up to date with the schedule and what the next steps would be. He also confirmed and double checked selections, and he accommodated several changes we wanted to make without any hassle. Working with Pavel and Basement Masters was terrific. Pavel clearly takes pride in his work. I would recommend Basement Masters to anyone looking to finish or remodel a basement.

Pavel is the ultimate professional. He made a big impression on us the first day discussing our basement remodel. I would describe him and his team as experienced, efficient, responsive, and most of all trustworthy. He certainly takes his work with a sense of pride. We consulted several contractors on our basement, Pavel is the only one who is able to provide us with a detailed price break down the first day. And his price is actually very reasonable. To our surprise, what came after we signed the contract with him greatly exceeded our expectations. He was always very clear on the schedule so we know what to expect. His team came to our house on time, very polite and efficient. And always willing to accommodate our requests and privacy. Any email or text to Pavel was answered within hours, if not minutes and always to the point. During the whole project, we always felt a piece of mind and everything is under control. We are very happy with the end result in terms of the quality of work. I would recommend him to anyone without reservation.

We were referred to Basement Masters from a friend, and couldn't have been happier with our experience! There are so many unique things to consider when remodeling a basement (water/flooding, pipes, septic, etc.) and I was glad to have a team that specialized in basements. They were professional and finished well ahead of projections! Pavel, the owner, was very responsive to all our questions, and was involved in every step of the process . We've already recommended them to some of our neighbors & friends!

Pavel provided a very detailed estimate including costs for extras and provided options upfront with costs to make it easy to make choices regarding final design versus cost. Job started and ended on time, and any issues that came up during remodeling were promptly answered or corrected. Craftsman ship was excellent and the basement looks great!

Contacted Basement Masters to finish our unfinished basement into an in-law suite with a full kitchen, large master bedroom with a walk-in closet and a large, full bathroom. Pavel will probably be the first contractor to respond and come to provide an estimate which concerns you at first but it just seems like he has boiled his business down to the most efficient model. He has a brochure that provides a full breakdown of all of his pricing so you receive a detailed quote on the spot. His estimate was significantly less than other contractors and honestly his responsiveness alone makes him worth paying more so you're getting a really good deal. They were able to start quickly and his crew is always on-time, polite, clean and quiet. I was home with a newborn baby through the whole project and if they weren't using loud power tools I never even heard them. Because they are so efficient it is better if you have most of your finishes thought out and even picked out before you sign a contract because it was a whole lot of decisions in a short amount of time. They only specialize in basements but I doubt you will find a better option.

We moved into our house at the end of July 2013. The house was in good shape but the basement was only about 50%-60% complete. In addition to that, half of the first floor of the house (approx 650 sf) was a full apartment ? kitchen, sitting room, bedroom, bathroom and laundry room. While this may have worked for the previous owner, it did not work for us. Our plan all along was to tear out the apartment and make it into a formal dining room and a living room. This was a major project that involved reinforcing and replacing a load bearing portion of the house, adding three windows and enlarging another. We put hard wood flooring down and had everything painted to include the adjacent foyer which is very tall and difficult. We also wanted the basement 100% finished which included new drywall in most places, replacing a slider with a French door, installing over 15 recessed lights, wiring the area for surround, fishing wires for the wall mounted TV and even mounting the TV for us! We received three quotes. Pavel?s was not the cheapest but it was in line with our budget. Even though it worked financially, we were very comfortable with Pavel. His honesty and ability to convey important information ? good and bad ? about our plans really helped us make the decision. I can say that we couldn?t be happier with the result. We have received so many positive comments about the work that was done. For those that saw the before, the after was so dramatic that it was almost not believable. Pavel and his team were neat and courteous and they certainly put the hours in! The job took two months and we were promised the work would be done by December 23 rd and it was. They always asked if they could work certain hours and they worked well with our schedules. Was it all perfect? Of course not. That?s a fantasy. Any issues that came up (all small in the general scheme of things) were dealt with openly and honestly and resolved with a win-win result as much as possible. I would absolutely work with Pavel and team again and we 100% recommend them to anyone looking to have quality work done.

I'd seen good reviews here so I called to ask them to come for an estimate. He asked if I needed a finishing or remodeling. I described to him what I had because I wasn't sure where it would fall. He said the minimum would be $12,000. I said ok, but I still wanted him to take a look so we could see what needed to be done. He asked me where I lived and whether it was inside or outside of the beltway. I said I wasn't sure and told him where I was. Then I reminded him that it says on their page that they cover Baltimore, Harford, etc. When I told him I'd just call him back later, he became ok with setting up the estimate. So I set it up. After getting off the phone, I decided I didn't even want to bother doing business with the company since he acted like he didn't even want to try to do business with me. With that, I emailed them from the Angie's list site and cancelled the estimate.

Working with Basement Masters was a wonderful experience! I read tons of reviews online and we got several quotes prior to starting our project. We wanted to add a bathroom which meant drilling into the basement floor...something that made me very nervous. Pavel was actually our first quote- he gave us a brochure that included EVERYTHING- prices, insurance, etc. and talked us through the project. I immediately trusted him. After several other quotes I still wanted Basement Masters and the prices were good compared to some of our other quotes. Pavel was very easy to get a hold of and always responded to our messages. We made a couple of changes (like paint color) mid-project and he was great about working with us. The pricing was straightforward and we paid what we expected to. We weren't stressed about the timeline, but everything was completed within the projected time- even with all of the snow! We love the basement- everything is gorgeous and the space turned out beautifully- all thanks to Basement Masters. We left a lot of decisions about the layout, lights, outlets, etc. to Pavel and he was fabulous! We couldn't be happier with the basement and we've had tons of compliments on it! We would definitely recommend them to anyone who is thinking about finishing their basement.

I contacted this company to see about getting a quote to install porcelain tile on my basement floor. I was told that they ONLY take jobs that require a complete basement makeover. Thus refusing work because the job is to small. (aka doesn't pay enough)

We decided to interview 5-6 companies for our basement finishing job and ACH group was one of them. To be honest, before I got the quotes, ACH group was not top of my list. After the quotes were received, they became the top because of their price. A couple of other estimators gave me better impressions, and Pavel seemed to be in a hurry. But their price beat the others by big margin. All the other estimators told me the price (that ACH provided) given was lower than their COST and was warning about us. So I was skeptical at first, but based on the good reviews from Angieslist, I decided to move forward with ACH. And they did not disappoint. Their framing and electrical guys are very fast. The wall finishing and painting took the most time. But they stayed within schedule. Pavel was precise on his estimate of schedules and kept me in the loop about the next steps. He was also very responsive to my emails, messages or phone calls. There were a couple of miscommunication in the roads, but Pavel worked with me to fix the issue in a timely fashion. Overall, I am happy with the end result! I will most likely hire them again if I have remodeling work.

I shopped around extensively in my area and interviewed five different companies, they were by far the cheapest. In fact, they have pricing down to a science with a fully detailed brochure so there are no surprises. NONE of the other companies had anything like this. Pavel and his crew were very responsive and accommodated changes that I requested at no additional cost and still managed to finish almost a week early. I am so pleased with the end result and would hire them again for any further home remodel projects

I reached out to Basement Masters because they had so many "A" reviews on Angie's List. I was not disappointed. Pavel (the owner, I think) came out and walked through the basement and gave us a detailed estimate in the form of a booklet/brochure that completely laid out all of the credentials of Basement Masters and Pavel individually. During the walkthrough, he helped us visualize what the finished space would look like and how we might want to use it (so that we could make decisions like whether to close off a room or leave it open). The actual estimate was added to that booklet and included a breakdown of every possible option or adjustment we might want to consider making to the base plan and its associated cost. In the end, we ended up going with the base package without including a bathroom. Every single one of Pavel's subcontractors were professional, polite, and punctual. They asked us where to park, what doors to enter/exit, and also requested our input into each of the decisions (usually placement decisions) that needed to be made. They gave us their expert opinions so that we made good decisions. For example, I planned on putting a pool table in a particular part of the basement, but one of Pavel's contractors helped me understand that a pool table wouldn't fit in that room (he was 100% right...I checked), so I could adjust my decision about light and outlet placement for the television. Pavel was always available to answer questions and we probably talked 1-2 times per week for updates. Pavel (and the contractors) promptly responded to any concern that I raised and were even willing to undo things if I changed my mind. Whenever I wanted to check out the progress of the basement and went down to look around, each contractor would stop what they were doing, ask me how I liked it so far, showed me what they were working on, and asked me if I had any questions. Since this was my first project and experience with contractors, I went into this very nervous and worried that I would be either taken advantage of or I wouldn't be satisfied with the work (hence my use of Angie's List). I was COMPLETELY THRILLED with the results and we were pleasantly surprised when Pavel/Basement Masters finished the job a week ahead of schedule. I would DEFINITELY hire Pavel/Basement Masters again and would recommend them to anyone that will listen to me.

ACH Group just completed finishing our basement. The size of our basement was substantial (approximately 1250 s q ft), and included a kitchenette in addition to full bath, so this was a fairly large project. Now that the finishing is complete, and we can look at the results, we can only say, ?Wow!? The crew started the project on time, and worked quickly to place the frame and rough-ins. Unless they were using their tools, they were so quiet we could scarcely tell they were there. They cleaned up thoroughly after each work day, so there was little dust or disturbance to the rest of the house. The electrical, painting, drywall, and carpet crews were extremely well coordinated; as a result there was very little delay during the course of the project. In fact they finished earlier than projected. Each crew member also courteously informed us when they would be working, and accommodated our requests with specially ordered items. The finished project is more fabulous than we could have anticipated! The kitchenette is attractive and modern, the painting reflects great attention to detail, and the molding and finishes gorgeously installed. To Pavel and his crew, thank you for a job well done!

We hired ACH to remodel our master bathroom this past spring and were very pleased with their work so had them back finish our basement this fall. The project was a full finish of an open area including a full bath. Their workmanship is first rate and their crew is polite and capable. The time Pavel took with us in the planning phase left us with a really well thought out space that gave us exactly what we were looking for. The work was somewhat involved, more than a simple stud out of four walls, as the ceiling included three tray areas which give a wonderful dramatic effect to the areas, a TV space, a pool table area and a bar area. They did a fair amount of electrical work over and above the norm because of requirements I had including pre-wiring for a wall mounted flat screen and surround sound. The space turned out wonderful. We could not be happier with the finished project.

I found ACH Group on Angie's List and could not be happier. From the first meeting it was clear to us that ACH Group (Basement Masters) was the contractor to hire. We had our basement with wet bar, full bathroom and two storage areas completely finished in our home. Pavel, from day one, was professional, knowledgeable and ALWAYS available whenever we had questions, either by phone or text. Having an organized brochure, which lists the project cost breakdown, was a great tool to keep track of the budget. We also added an extra project that Pavel completed for us, which saved me from having to look for another contractor. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Pavel and his hard working crew to anyone who wants a beautiful basement.

My husband and I recently purchased our home in July and wanted to finish the basement ASAP. We contacted 3 top rated contractors on Angie's list . ACH group was the only contractor that scheduled an appointment immediately and arrived on time. Pavel from ACH group was very organized and presented us with a standard brochure from ACH group that broke down he pricing.They gave us the cheapest estimate. And they also immediately acknowledged the Angie's promotion of 10% off. They took care of the permit in a timely manner. After we signed the contract, work was started on time. All the workers were polite and on time . They kept us in the loop of what they were doing or going to do. They kept everything clean and tidy everyday. When my master bedroom closet collapsed, Pavel offered to fix the closet for free. They were attentive to all our needs. They finished 2 weeks earlier than projected. Few days after the project was done we had few questions about connecting the theater system and we called pavel. He stopped by later that day and assisted with connecting the theater system for free. My recommendation would be to choose ACH group for your renovation projects because you'll be getting the best bang for your buck.

We used this company to have our basement completely remodeled to include a new bathroom, a bedroom and a kitchenette. Pavel is an expert at what he does. From beginning to end he demonstrated a thorough knowledge of the entire project (electrical, plumbing, construction, etc) and was extremely efficient and professional. He offered excellent suggestions on design but also bent to our preferences as they came up. He also gave us a checklist of everything we needed to purchase and everything that was included in the project. Unfortunately, we slowed him down because we fell behind in the purchases and selections we needed to make. Otherwise, we are certain that the project would have been done in the time he estimated. The crew Pavel assembled and supervised was outstanding- great craftsman, punctual and considerate. They kept everything clean and orderly as they worked. I was totally comfortable with having them in the house. The final result is a gorgeous basement that far exceeds our expectations. Pavel inspected everything toward the final stages and either repaired or replaced any materials that had even the slightest imperfection (such as the closet doors in our kitchenette). He is a perfectionist with all the work he performs and clearly takes great pride in his work. We ended up paying more than we had planned, but that was due to selections we made that exceeded the allowances he gave us. We also added a built in gas fireplace with a stone surround that is simply gorgeous and the highlight of the basement. I highly recommend Pavel to anyone that wants outstanding workmanship and great value.

We recently remodeled our original 1980s-style basement with ACH Group, and are extremely happy with the end result. Our remodel was extensive: we added a full bathroom, converted a hallway/closet into a larger guest room, consolidated our laundry room and added a wet bar/entertainment area with soundproofing. When looking for the best contractor for this project, we spent a lot of time researching, and had three different contractors provide estimates. Needless to say, we didn?t need another estimate after talking with ACH Group. Their pricing was easy to understand and very competitive. Before the work began, the owner, Pavel, gave us checklists so we knew what items to pick out (and how much to spend to stay within our budget), which made the planning stage so much easier. The dimensions of our basement (bulk heads, duct work, etc.) and the changes we wanted to make required some creative thinking. Pavel really helped us think through the planning before starting. He had great ideas for ways we could use the different spaces, and his advice was very helpful to finalizing our plan. Pavel was always easy to reach by phone, text or email, and he was very patient with our questions and ideas -- and we had many throughout the remodel. We had a few specific custom requests that ACH Group had not dealt with before; instead of telling us "no," they figured out how to get it done. During the remodel process, Pavel and his team were consistently on time, respectful and clean. They were willing to work around our schedule, and even worked on weekends (as long as it didn?t interfere with our plans) so they could expedite the project. Once the project was complete, Pavel came back and inspected everything with us. In the end, our basement went from being an outdated, unattractive and rarely used space to a modern, comfortable and inviting entertainment area where we spend most of our time and happily host our visiting friends and family. I would definitely recommend ACH Group to anyone interested in finishing or remodeling their basement.

I interviewed three contractors for this job, and the prices were remarkably similar. Two of the three estimated 2 weeks to complete the job. Frankly, this sounded unbelievable to me. Pavel of ACH estimated 6-8 weeks - in my experience, a lot more likely. Still, I pressed Pavel for the reason that his estimate was so much longer than the others. He proceeded to reel off every task that had to be done, the order in which they had to be done, how long each would take, which ones could overlap and which could not, and why. This had the unmistakable ring of a man who knows his job - and one that would say what was right, not what he thought the customer wanted to hear. On this basis, I hired ACH, and I don't believe I could have done better. Everyone who worked at my house was skilled, worked hard, was polite and professional. Pavel kept everything moving, including me. When I had a decision to make or an order to place, I heard about it. The basement came out great - better than I would have thought. It's gone from an eyesore to a showpiece. Normally, this would be the end - good experience, good product. I feel I have to go a little further for this exceptional company. Normally, I hate the contractor experience - frustrating, or annoying, or both - but it was a pleasure to work with Pavel and ACH. I felt like I had gone to watch my son's middle school basketball game and somehow ended up watching the Harlem Globe Trotters. For those of you who don't like sports - I bought tickets for rodeo and saw the Lipizzaners. Oh, well, you get the picture. If I have another job these people say they can do, I will hire them in a heartbeat.

From the first meeting, after already getting 4 other quotes, I was BLOWN AWAY. The team at ACH has basement remodeling down to a science, and the first consultation was informative and clearly showed an understanding that all the others lacked. From the first meeting, I trusted them to do a great job - and they did not disappoint. They were punctual, did what they said they would at every step, took my family needs into account, and made sure I was comfortable with every possible decision. When the lumber yard dropped off the materials to get started, he raved about the team, so I went in with high expectations, and they did not disappoint. Have you ever heard of a contractor doing MORE than you thought they needed to? ACH - multiple times - went above and beyond to make sure as Pavel of ACH said "that it would look and function like I would expect in my own home". Design ideas were shared that made the basement much better than originally planned, and the process went so smoothly I can rank ACH has the best contractor I've ever worked with, or heard of for that matter. You can go out and get other quotes for your basement, I urge you to get them before you call ACH. Because when they show up, the competence they have and attention to detail will shine in the very first meeting, and will continue to show up all throughout the project. The basement is beautiful. On budget, exceeded expectations, and the process was painless.

This was the best experience of any work that I have done in my home. My 25 year old basement was never refinished, just cinder block and concrete floor. Pavel came to my home and looked at my basement, gave me several options of where he thought laundry area should be and better access from the stairs. I was surprised to see that he had a brochure which gave me a square foot price for the number of square feet of remolding and exactly what was included. This was a project he was able to perform from cradle to grave. This was a great surprise because all the other estimates only included the framing and drywall. The rest I would have to sub out. All plumbing, electrical, painting and carpet was included. I did add moving the laundry area, as he suggested, to another location which was a great idea because of the natural light I could get from the one window in the basement. Ever crew that came to the house was always on time and cleaned up as they went. He even supplied a restroom for his workers. Pavel informed me in advance what was going to happen for in the next step of the renovation. I was always able to contact him with questions and his replies were within the minute. I am more than satisfied with the completed project and I would highly recommend this company for a basement remodel. He finished two weeks ahead of schedule which is always nice! I would rate them a 10+.

Overall, my family and I are very satisfied with the work ACH performed on our basement. Like many other reviews, we initially contacted another contractor who had performed basement remodels for some of our neighbors and that quote was approximately 5k more than ACH's, and we would also be responsible for buying the paint and carpet for our basement. ACH arrived, took measurements, multiplied it by their square foot rate, and gave me a quote right then and there. Pavel explained how options were priced and provided us the Angie's List discount as advertised. He also contacted one of his recent clients who lives near us to see if we could stop by and check out the work he performed on his house (this is the house on ACH's website with the bar area, pool area, and guitars hanging on the wall). My spouse and I stopped by that weekend, spoke with the owner (who had nothing but positive things to say) and saw for ourselves what our basement would look like. We walked away confident that ACH would be our contractor. Once again, as other reviews stated, ACH showed up on time, performed the work they needed to between regular business hours (we have two small children, so once dinner time came Pavel's team was gone), and cleaned up after themselves. ACH provided suggestions on how best to design our basement. For example, we have two metal support poles which Pavel was able to hide in the walls. For one pole, he hid it in the wall next to what became our new wet bar. The other pole he hid in a half-wall column. Bottom line: you have no idea these poles exist now and I don't have to worry about my children running into them by accident. As stated, Pavel suggested (not pressured) that I use an existing space for a wet bar. It was something I was considering too and he was able to incorporate my design ideas (granite counter, wine rack above wet bar, room for mini-fridge). While we do not entertain often, when people stop by they are always impressed with it. Also, if you are on the fence about it, I would recommend it if your budget allows, because I know it will be a selling feature should you move (guys just like the concept of having access to beer in their basement while watching the game). ACH also remodeled the existing bathroom in the basement and removed the shower we had (we never used it and rarely have guests). We turned the space where the shower was into a large walk-in pantry, where my wife can now store a lot of our food/items from Costco. The only negative experience I had during the whole process was regarding the television mounting. Prior to starting work, I recommend that you have a clear idea of what type of tv you plan on mounting on the wall, where you plan on mounting it, and if you are going to have surround sound speakers, where you want to place them prior to the dry wall going up. I believe ACH may have an option now to work with a surround sound company, but at the time it did not, so I had to do a lot of the research myself. This is partially due to the fact that ACH had an opening shortly after we first met, so my time to plan these things was limited and I was doing much of it while the work was being done. In the end, I was able to tell ACH where everything should go and all of my calculations worked perfectly, but you must think about it beforehand, as the wires will be punched out of the drywall, so its not something you can easily change your mind on later. In sum, my family and I are very happy with our basement. If you notice, I am writing this review almost a year later. There is a reason for that - I wanted to see how everything held up. Sort of like buying a new car. Nothing has broken, no cracks in the walls, plumbing works, etc. So do I recommend ACH - yes. Would I use them again - yes.

ACH group worked on our basement this summer. We had our completely unfinished space turned into a bar area with a kitchenette, TV area and game area and also added a half bathroom. We had several quotes from contractors and chose to hire ACH based on their Angie's List reviews and competitive quote. From the start, Pavel made it easy for us to choose what we wanted from his company brochure. All the prices are in the brochure and so we knew we would stay within our budget. We felt that some of the prices quoted for allowances such as bathroom accessories (toilet, vanity,) door knobs etc. were low, so be prepared to pay more for something that is a better quality. Pavel has a lot of experience working on basements and was therefore able to suggest design ideas that we had not considered. We were very impressed with the guys who worked on our house. Everyone was completely professional, arrived on time, cleaned up after themselves and did excellent work. The project was completed on time and looks great. Pavel was very easy to communicate with by text, phone, and email. Whenever we had a question or concern, Pavel was very quick to reply. We would definitely recommend ACH group and we are thrilled with how our basement turned out!
