Aladdin Carpet & Floors

On 06/26/2014, Sergio and his two helpers were able to install everything in six hours, except for two missing transition strips.  These transition pieces had to be ordered and were finally positioned on 07/18/2014.  The final job was excellent and the workmen were extremely professional and friendly.

The sales person was punctual and knowledgeable. The installation team arrived on time and did a terrific job despite the fact that my house has many twists and turns. I had one small repair needed after the installation and the matter was resolved quickly.

Showed up on time for estimation, and did a great job.
Quickly booked the date of install, and the install team showed up on time, and finished promptly and then vacuumed the room and the surrounding area very quickly.
Slightly expensive for one room of carpet, and the quality is low-medium grade carpet.

They couldn't come at the scheduled time so we rescheduled. The estimate ending up being alot higher than what I had calculated. In addition they did not have flexibility. We had our own padding but, they said we had to use the padding they had in the agreement. So, we couldn't get a discount for providing padding. They would not take the Angie's List coupon that I had printed out from the site. We just decided that it would be best to just part ways.

The deal only covered the first 100 sq ft. Deal makes it sound like it was for the entire home. I was only wanting to do the living room area. The tech came out to my home with samples. When he measured, he said I had about 400 sq ft. Said he would discount the upgraded carpet padding. I am unclear of the billing. I feel like I didn't get a discount on any of the services.

I stopped by the store and consulted with Bassir. I have a dog and was unsure of what kind of carpet might be best for the second floor of my home. Bassir helped me focus on a certain kind/brand and allowed me to choose colors. He visited my home after closing the store that same evening to measure and also view the sample colors I had selected to determine which would look best. He was straightforward and easy to work with. The install was scheduled at my convenience. The two installers were quick and efficient. I was appreciative that they were more than happy to move some larger furniture for me that I hadn't been able to move myself. After the install, Bassir called to check in and ensure that the carpet and process was to my satisfaction. I would absolutely do business with Aladdin Carpet again.

Everyone was professional from the consult to the installation and a courtesty follow-up call to make sure that we were satisfied with the workmanship and the installed floor.

When we called Aladdin, we were put in touch with Sasan, a sales representative.  Throughout the process, he was our contact point and in truth one of the primary reasons we went with this company.  He came to our home on a Saturday to give us an estimate, which was provided on the spot.  He was courteous, removing his shoes and respecting our napping toddler's quiet room.  He was receptive to our needs.  His estimate appointment actually started out by his asking us questions regarding our use of the spaces in question, how long we intended to stay in the house--in other words, he was trying to match the product to our needs.  Not a novel idea but not always what companies provide.
Dates for installation were within 2 weeks of estimate appt.  Installation was estimated to take 3-4 days and took 3 full days (working until late evening).  The baseboards were an unanticipated addition to the job, adding about 7 hours and $1000.  When it was determined by Sergio and the crew that the gap b/n floor and wall was too great, Sasan showed up at the house within hours to go over products and pricing once again.
We love the look, of course.  Installation looks neat and without flaw that we've detected, anyway.  Sasan explained a lot to us up front regarding flooring tricks of the trade ( boards lay perpendicular to the support beams, how larger width planks can make a small space appear smaller, how to spot-replace areas of laminate vs. hardwood) and my understanding makes me appreciate the value of the product even more.
I would absolutely use the company again, would recommend to my family, and would specifically seek out Sasan in doing so.

They did a great job and I can't say enough about them.  They constantly checked to make sure we were happy throughout the project.  On the first day, one of the employees got sick but the supervisor came back himself to work.  The second day, two came back and did some more work.  On the third day, three employees came back to finish the project and it now looks beautiful.  I even received follow up calls after the service to check our satisfaction.

The price and the service were excellent and the floor is beautiful.  The installers arrived on time, paid attention to detail, and cleaned up afterwards.  The entire job was completed in one morning.

The service was good.  I had used Aladdin the past.  I would have expected a follow up call upon installation as to whether I was pleased or not, instead of an email over a month after installation.

The workmen, Miguel and  Will, removed the existing one-inch ceramic tiles.   The exposed plywood subfloor was cleaned and the existing baseboard molding was removed.  A sheet of 1/4" luan plywood was cut to the required dimensions (outside the house) and glued and screwed to the original plywood subfloor.   Similarly, the vinyl floor covering (Congoleum Airstep Sheet Vinyl) was precut to the desired shape and  was placed over the luan plywood.  The toilet  had to be removed for this step and of course reset afterwards.  White primed wood was installed  as a baseboard molding.  Edges next to the bathtub and  entrance saddle were caulked . 
Everything went very smoothly.  Miguel and Will were very professional, friendly and polite.  They removed  all waste material and cleaned up thoroughly.  The job was completed in four hours.

It is really a love/hate relationship with Aladdin.  In some respects they were VERY attentive and in some, I really got the shaft (my opinion). 

I went to the company and told them that I am starting a  very small dog sitting business in my condo and I was looking for hard flooring and the removal of my carpet.  I had priced laminate and came to Aladdin because of their reputation.  I knew I wanted the sound-quieting underlayment and I knew I wanted 12mm laminate for longevity.  Aladdin mainly uses a company called Mannington for their laminate and I trusted my salesman's opinion to help me decide what flooring to get, because I am a 63 year-old novice when it comes to buying anything like this.  Well, bad idea.

Not only did the floor scratch from the first week it was put down, it CONTINUES to scratch with just my one, 16 pound poodle.  ARGHHHH!  I drop an ice cube on the floor and it chips.  I dropped my TV remote and it chipped.  I dropped a fork and it chipped.  Now I am somewhat of a realist and I realize that accidents happen.  But what I didn't expect was the floor to get so many dings so easily.  I'm not a klutz, but I AM human.

Also, I was promised that there would be a leveling agent used in a few spots on my cement floors to even it out.  This, apparently, was bogus, because when I mentioned it to the installers they took pieces of newspaper and put them under the laminate boards to even out the floor.  I only have three areas with this problem, but after a few months, the floors are worse and I am afraid the tongue-and-groove will break. 

Because of the dog-sitting (2 dogs TOPS!), I wanted floors that were little or no maintenance.  The floors that were installed have to be swept and cleaned every day - sometimes twice a day.  Totally different from what I was told.

So......being an unhappy camper, I was told to come into the showroom and pick out a porcelain tile for my main living area.  And  as I was told VERBATUM - it would work out "OK".  I was thrilled!!!!!  I found a really nice, textured tile and actually cried when I realized my problems would be solved.  I received a call a couple of days later with the news that to do the living room and kitchen area  (it's about 600 sf) the extra cost would be a DISCOUNTED $9,000! Say what???????????  I was told that it would have been $13,000 but because of the problem they would only charge me $9k.  Imagine my surprise that this was their idea of working things out.  Being on disability only, they knew my circumstances and I have no doubt that this was a ploy to get rid of me.  Well, it worked.

I must admit that I was never treated disrespectfully, but some condescending attitudes and remarks made me feel ill at ease.  I realize that Aladdin has a great reputation and I admire them for that.  I guess I am just one small client who fell between the cracks.  Oh.....forgot to mention that one of my laminate boards was sent back to Mannington to see what was up with all the easy scratching.  They called and reported that the laminate was up to par. If that is their par, then I'm worried.  Each and every board has a 1/4" to 1/2" film on the ends and I was told it would come off with Windex or Simple Green cleaner.  Again, SAY WHAT????  I was supposed to clean hundreds of boards to get the haze off?  It is a manufacturing "thing" they said and happens all the time.  Lord, help me.

So here I am....saving for tile.  I've gotten more estimates to do the 600sf area and all estimates are way below the discounted $9,000 I was so generously offered by Aladdin.

I work with people moving into a HUGE senior community where I live and I cannot - in good conscience  recommend Aladdin.  But that is only because of my personal experience.  Other people must have had fabulous experiences or their reputation and rating wouldn't be so high. 

Initial and subsequent contact was horrible.  Person kept calling wrong #'s even though we gave him specific # to call.  Called house # during day when we told him we wouldn't be home and to call the work # given.  He called several times in same day and couldn't get hold of us because we both worked.  Kept trying to insist we needed to "add" other services.  We finally told him we paid to have it refinished and that was all we wanted.  The guys that actually did the work were wonderful but dealing with the contact person was very trying and I just don't need that aggravation.

They were fine. I would tell others that they did well and I would use them again.

We purchased an Angie's List $299 coupon for 38% off Stainmaster Carpet including pad and installation.  We were pleased with the quality of the carpet and padding and overall price. Reza made the whole process quick and easy.  They took measurements in our townhouse the day after we chose the carpet.  Reza calculated the layout of the carpet and pad very carefully so that there was little waste.  Installation was scheduled quickly and at our convenience.  The installers did a beautiful job and were neat and careful.  Three years ago Aladdin installed a laminate floor in our kitchen and we were very satisfied with that as well. We look forward to dealing with Reza and Aladdin in the future!

They were very patient as I kept calling back with questions. At first I was unsatisfied with the unitemized estimate I was given, but I was able to get an itemized estimate that explained everything (including: the base rate, adding transitions, repairs, etc.) and so I went ahead with the work. They took out the old carpet and sanded and refinished the floor. They even replaced damaged boards and repaired holes. Everyone who comes to the house is impressed with the results. Worth every penny! Will definitely call again when I've saved up enough to do the upstairs.

From showroom to installation, Aladdin Carpet's team was engaged, involved, and did everything they needed to do to win our confidence, trust, and the deal. 
First, we proactively wanted to go to the showroom and see the carpet available and any options. We were met warmly by Alan who took care of us from start to finish.  We were able to choose an excellent grade of carpet--better than the deal-- and also have it installed on our preferred date.
Second, the crew who came to install the carpet did an expert job and asked questions when decisions were needed. Nothing was left to chance and every respect was given to our preferences.
Third, install went great and they left the job clean.
Overall, we did not have the biggest or most complicated job. it was probably a small job my any standard. Nevertheless, we were made to feel as important as a customer buying several times more carpet.  I think this shows that clients are important no matter how small. 
I would certainly put Aladdin at the top of my list for a future kitchen or bathroom job should the need arise and obviously for carpet to.
