We highly recommend SLG Masonry Construction -- the work was excellent and Santiago was a pleasure to work with. We hired SLG to reset the stones in a 200-square-foot patio and to repair a stone walkway with several steps at our house in northwest DC. The patio was reset with a minimal slope to carry water away from our house, and the crew's new arrangement is both attractive and fits with the original style of the patio and walkway. When SLG discovered that the patio was missing a necessary concrete pad, Santiago was able to get a concrete mixer to our house within 24 hours to pour the concrete with a reasonable adjustment to our original cost and contract. SLG had great communication with us from beginning to end, cleaned up the work site every day, and even made a special trip to our house to protect the patio from an unexpected rainstorm!

We hired Santiago Lopez and his firm to repair our raised concrete patio and the garage underneath, which had suffered extensive water damage. Santiago and his crew were very reasonably priced, very communicative, curteous, professional and did an excellent job. I highly recommend Santiago and his company.

We had what was pretty obvious moisture issues stemming from degrading mortar joints in the lower level of our three-floor rowhouse on Capitol Hil. I was very satisfied with the job, and I would definitely hire Santiago and his team again. The price was comparable to/slightly lower than other estimates I received, and the workmanship appears to be good. Santiago was great to work with - he is VERY responsive (via text and email), prompt, courteous, and professional. His team was studious, punctual, and polite.

We had a great experience with Santiago and his team. We had a water leaking through the entire rear wall of our home, which caused the interior drywall to become wet and moldy. We were very concerned since we had a newborn baby and didn’t want her exposed to mold. Santiago’s estimate was fair and he seemed knowledgeable about the nuances of historic brick/mortar. He also required a lead test (for interior) for safety. Santiago was busy, but once we decided to go with him, he got us on the books for repointing in a few weeks. His team found more damage than originally thought and repaired it all the same day. We were so pleased with the quality and neatness of his work on the exterior that we had them do the interior work as well. When they fixed our mold/drywall inside the house, they really went over and above to help us out. We had to live in our tiny basement while they repaired the upper floors – with a 1 month old baby – so they tried their best to be quick and neat. They worked long hours, one day from 8 am to 8 pm, to complete the job on time. They also put up plastic with a zippered entry to ensure no mold or dust. We were at home during all construction and were impressed by their work ethic and courtesy to us. We’ve already recommended this team to our neighbors and wouldn’t hesitate to use them again.

Santiago and his crew were professional and thorough. They cleaned the area and did the work extremely quickly and at a high degree of quality. He showed up exactly on time for the job and finished in a day. I'd recommend him for any similar work. There was an issue with the weather after he finished the job that required a patch and he quickly scheduled a follow-up.

Santiago was very professional, helpful and organized from the beginning to the end and the patio has turned out perfectly. Amazing work ethic, skill and responsiveness- so glad to have found him for this and future projects. He and his workers worked 7 days a week to complete the work ahead of time!!

Santiago is very professional. He has an excellent crew and is very detailed oriented. He has the equipment and means to do the job and shows up on time. He also has the ability to be flexible enough to work with you schedule and needs which is import when working on large project on a small street. I used Santiago of SLG Stone Work because he had great reviews on Angie's list. I had a terrible water leak coming through the brick on the second floor of my row house in DC. It was an extensive project but Santiago and his team did an outstanding job. At first, we repointed the outside brick but that didn't completely fix the problem. In the past, most contractors would have disappeared based on my experience but Santiago came back. He repaint and sealed the brick on the exterior, removed the existing drywall in the interior of the house, repointed the interior brick, and replaced it with new drywall. The price was a lot but the price was fair for the work performed. Most importantly, I really trusted him and his team and they are true craftsman and take pride in their work. When I have trouble at home now, I go to him first and if he can't do it he referrers me to someone else like he did on a recent flooring project. I see someone has criticized Santiago because he didn't return calls or emails. He is a busy guy--I believe his team does a lot of big commercial projects so he can get overwhelmed like all of us. While sometimes I had to call him twice before connecting with him, he wasn't ignoring or avoiding me. He simply had too much on his plate. He was up front about this, so I had to be patient but it was well worth it because he is trustworthy, changes a fair amount, and gets the job done.

I met with the contractor, but he didn't follow up with a quote or returned my calls and emails.

Santiago Lopez is a masonry genius, and he knows a ton about home construction. I mean, the guy is creative and smart. But much more importantly, he is diligent. The quality of his work and attention to detail are impeccable, and I am the pickiest client imaginable. When something isn't right, he fixes it. His integrity and honesty are refreshing not just for the construction field but for any field. If all business owners operated like Santiago, the world would be a safer and more efficient place. A+

I cannot speak highly enough of Santiago and his team and their professional work! Seriously, there was not a single snag or anything negative to even report. First, know I received 3 estimates and Santiago's was the most inexpensive (in one case "by far!"). His team showed up on time and did fabulous work on EVERY aspect. The tuck and pointed wall appears beautifully done, and the drain is wonderfully effective. My favorite was their repair of a front wall on our house from 1930's which his team took great pains to match the styling of the wall -- the repairs are almost seamless and really wonderfully done. Finally, on the patio, Santiago provided me several choices on stones, working with me to pick the best one, and then completed the job really fast and professionally -- it also is beautiful. The work done went smoothly! SLG Masonry Construction, Inc. showed up on time, completed the work, and completely transformed my brick steps back to normal ! The brick stairs were unsafe prior to SLG Masonry Construction, Inc. repairing them. Mr. Lopez was very professional and did a **** of a job! My brick steps look like they were never ruined -- this company did a great job!

The whole job went smooth. Work crew (3-4 men) arrived everyday on time, as early as 7:30am. They would work clean and dispose of debris when necessary. Would leave their equipment on side of house covered for the next day not visibible. Our contract agreement was to pay in cash installments, which was fine. I am very happy with final product and I would recommend them.

Santiago was very responsive, was punctual, and when we wanted to change something was willing to make changes as we went along. It looks great and we have contacted him since the project (due to glue issues) and he is always to pass by and fix any issues.

Mr. Lopez's prices are very reasonable and he and his crew were on time, polite, professional, and obviously experts at stone work. I recommended him to several neighbors and friends! Everyone of my friends and neighbors who have used his services raves about the results! All of the work he has done for me has been fantastic and I will be using him in the future for a driveway and patio. You can't go wrong with Mr. Lopez and his crew. Trustworthy and professional!

We were very impressed with his work and he is a pleasure to work with.

Involved cutting out and lifting each stone out, cleaning the sides and underneath (chipping out the grout) and replacing the stone in place. The grout was replaced by hand. Mr Lopez had 2 men working for him and the three arrived daily as promised, worked through the day, cleaned up afterwards, respected the property and the neighbors. This was a 4 week job, 2 weeks in the back yard, 2 weeks in the front yard.
