Richard's Appliance Repair

The Initial call went very well and didn't take long to schedule. Richard came in and was able to quickly diagnose the problem. I was hesitant due to the cost of the repair and the fact that the machine was just about 4 years old. I needed some time to make the decision and Richard was very respectful of that, no pressure at all. I took the evening to explore options and called the next day to notify them I was going to go ahead and do the repair. At that time, I played some phone tag but eventually was able to order the part and pay for it. Since it was over the Labor Day holiday, it took a bit longer to get the part in but that was to be expected. Richard arrived in his window when we scheduled the repair after the parts came in. He was courteous, professional, and helpful answering questions throughout the process. He made sure to show me the broken drum and understand what was happening. I appreciated that piece. It was a great experience. I would definitely use Richard's Appliance Repair again.

Richard arrived when he said he would. Proceeded to do the work required after asking a few questions about what was going on with the washing machine.

Richard arrived promptly at the scheduled time, quickly made a diagnosis after having a few moments to actually see the dishwasher, and made the appropriate repair. I previously had the same dishwasher repaired for the same type of malfunction by a home warranty service tech. While that repair lasted about 9 months, Richard, unlike the first repairman, told us that there had been a recall on our dishwasher for the problem we had with it. We never received that information from the other repairman. The recall resulted in a specialized replacement kit that Richard brought with him to our house. The dishwasher is working again. It is refreshing to have a competent, honest businessman like Richard who charges a reasonable rate for his services. We will definitely call Richard again should we need assistance with any of our major appliances.

At the initial visit it was determined that a part had to be ordered and I was told it would take around 5 days to get in. It was over 2 weeks after that first visit and I still hadn't heard from them so I called and was able to set up the appointment for the part to be replaced. The work was done efficiently and I no longer smell gas, so the leak seems to be repaired as promised.

I can report without hesitation,that Richard and his crew are beyond excellent.~A+++++++++ in all ways! Example~my freezer broke(who wants mushy food??!) I called a few of the old standby appliance companies we have dealt with over the years and they all gave me 3~5 day wait times. Then...I remembered that I am an Angie's List member ( my brain was obviously in overload due to the freezer meltdown) Anyway...of all the reviews I read, Richard's seemed like the best choice. From the moment I spoke to Latoya(she deserves a big Christmas bonus this year!)~ I knew that I had chosen the right company. She heard the stress in my voice and...squeezed me into Richard's schedule later that day!!! As above, he and Marquese could not have been more professional as they fixed the problem for the short term til the part needed was available(their short term fix did hold by the way!) Richard came back and finished the repair solo. I feel like I have a new fridge/freezer(even though it is 9 years old) I cannot say enough good things about this company. I have bought 6 Angie’s List Big Deals in the past and this is the first time it's gone wrong. My refrigerator is not cold enough. The ice cream is frosty but not frozen. I purchased an Angle’s list coupon for "$25 toward $50 appliance repair". The DEAL DETAILS were listed as: (1) $25 toward $50 toward repair of one large appliance (2) Complete diagnosis of the problem (3) Free service call and second trip (if needed) The day after buying the deal I got a call to schedule an appointment. I was told that the service call would cost $149. I told them that I had already purchased the Angie’s list coupon for $25, which included a free service call and a second trip (if needed). Latoya (a very pleasant person) was aware of an $85 coupon but was not familiar with the $25 coupon deal. I told her that the coupon clearly stated the service call would be free. She didn’t know anything about that so she said she would have the owner contact me. Richard contacted me about an hour later to discuss my “issue” with the coupon. I explained my objections to paying $149 for a “free” service call. I directed his attention to the part of the coupon that CLEARLY OFFERS A FREE SERVICE CALL AND A SECOND TRIP (IF NEEDED). Richard was aware that two different coupons were offered but insisted the $25 Big Deal to fix large appliances would not help me get my refrigerator repaired. Refrigerator repairs were not included in my deal because REFRIGERATORS ARE NOT LARGE APPLIANCES. Seriously? There was some back and forth with my pointing out obvious wording in the Big Deal and Richard telling me I’d have to pay $149 to get him to look at my refrigerator. I said I’d just try to get a refund. There’s no future in arguing with a person who doesn’t believe that a refrigerator is a large appliance. I know that people are in business to make money. I am willing to pay for a repair. But don’t advertise a discount of (1) $25 toward $50 toward repair of one large appliance (2) Complete diagnosis of the problem and (3) Free service call and second trip (if needed) IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO HONOR ANY OF IT BY TRYING TO CONVINCE ME THAT A REFRIGERATOR IS NOT A LARGE APPLIANCE!!!! ! At the very least, If you won't fix a refrigerator with this deal then say so in the ad. Richard’s “$25 for $50 Toward Appliance Repair” Big Deal is still on the website. It’s got about 340 more days to run. You read it and you decide. Let me steer you towards the bottom of the ad where it reads: “The Real Deal: REFRIGERATOR running all night? Dishwasher clunking? Avoid a costly replacement with this money saving offer”. My advice? Don’t buy this Big Deal. RICHARD WILL NOT HONOR IT AND WILL TRY TO CONVINCE YOU THAT A REFRIGERATOR IS NOT A LARGE APPLIANCE!!!!! Ha!

I called their office after hours and received a return call the next morning. I had an appointment within 2 days. Richard was early for the appointment and repaired the washer on the spot. No need for a return visit. Everything is working fine now. Thank you.

After having a terrible time with another repair company, I was thrilled when I spoke to Latoya at Richards Appliance Repair. She was very helpful and was able to schedule me within a couple of hours of my call AND for the same day! I was advised i would get a call about 30 minutes beforehand, which was perfect since I needed to come home from work. She let me know that based on the schedule, someone would be out most likely earlier rather than later within the 2 hour timeframe. The call was exactly 30 minutes from arrival. Richard was the technician and extremely polite, courteous and professional. He assured me the problem was a water pressure issue from the main line and not the refrigerator. My next step will be to contact a plumber. I cannot say enough how pleased I was with the customer service and hopefully he's 100% right on the diagnosis.

Richard diagnosed and solved the problem by monitoring the temperature inside the oven during several cycles. He determined that the average temperature was to high and adjusted the temperature control accordingly. If I had followed the suggestions provided on the internet I would have replaced the thermostat which was not necessary.

I was very pleased and would use them again.

Richard was terrific! One trip to quickly diagnose the issue another to replace the part. He even squeezed us in before a long weekend trip and desperate to do a load of laundry. He was able to charge a card and email a receipt directly from his iPad which is extremely convenient in the age of no cash. My wife and I will definitely be calling him for any appliance repair in the future.

When i called Richard's Appliance Repair, I was asked to leave a message. The following day I received a call back. A friendly and efficient woman set up the appointment and gave me a price over the phone. I received a ten per cent discount because I was an Angie's list member. My appt time was between 10 and noon. Richard called me on the appt day at 9:45 to tell me he would arrive in 45 minutes. He arrived in the time he had stated. He brought a cover for the floor in the work area. The job was completed and in a timely manner. Richard stayed to run the dw to make sure there were no problems. I can't say enough about this Richard's service, politeness and attention to detail. Hire him, you won't be sorry.

He was wonderful. He came back out and installed my dishwasher and a new oven. He is a really nice guy. His pricing is fair, and they guarantee work for one year. He did not even charge me an additional fee to finish installing the dishwasher.

My gas dryer stopped working. Richard determined that the belt on the drum had come loose. He re-attached it, and the dryer worked, but he had shown me that it was somewhat frayed around the edge. Dryer is about 5 years old, and was left here when I bought the house. So I opted to have a new belt put on (which he had to order). When the belt came in, Richard called to set a time to install it. 90 day warranty on work.

Richard was able to schedule an appointment for the day after I called him to go to my rental property where the oven wasn't working. He took my credit card info over the phone and sent a receipt via e-mail which was very convenient for me. My tenant said he was super friendly and quickly resolved the issue.

My only complaint is that they do not answer the phone or return calls promptly - all business is done via answering machine & VM. Everything concerning Richards hands on installation work was great. Due to poor work done many years ago by the crew who remodeled my kitchen quite a bit of plumbing work needed to be redirected prior to the dishwasher being fully installed -- Richard explained the various problems with the plumbing/gas/water lines to me very clearly & why for safety, code, and common sense reasons I needed to have a plumber come and reroute everything - Richard explained that his work is guaranteed for a year and that once everything w/ the plumbing was repaired & up to code he would gladly return & finish fully installing my dishwasher -- the plumbing is complete, now the only issue is trying to get in touch with him so he can come & complete the job!

Could not have been easier. I went to put clothes in the dryer at about 3 pm on a Friday and discovered damp clothes still in the dryer. I turned the dryer on to finish drying the clothes and the drum did not turn. I went on to Angie's list and saw Richard's listing and that he was close by. I called him and he returned my call within 15 minutes. I told him what I thought the problem was so when he came over he would be prepared with a belt if indeed that was the problem. I figured he would set up the appointment for the following Monday or Tuesday, but he said he would be over between 6-7 pm that day! He came over about 6:45 pm and was gone by 7 pm.....belt replaced and the dryer is working.

His office staff was excellent and friendly. He was very nice and knowledgable. His prices and schedule of fees were completely fair and easy to understand. He was careful to leave the area clean and exactly the way he found it.

Excellent! They set an appointment, called 15 minutes before arriving, arrived right on time, and completed the job. Richard was professional and took care to put covers on his shoes so he would not track in dirt. Very polite and pleasant, excellent job. I will keep his number for any future jobs.

The repair went very well. They ordered then part, called us when the part arrived and came to install it. They did an excellent job.

I messaged Richard yesterday about our oven not working and he was able to schedule us an appointment the next day. He called 30 minutes before he was arriving and was here at the agreed appointment time. He was able to quickly diagnosis the issue and had the part with him. We discussed be labor and charge for the part and he was able to fix the oven in a very timely manner. Richard was both professional and very personable. I would definitely recommend and call Richard again.

He arrived within the time frame agreed upon. He tested the dryer and took the front off to look at the inside. Then he showed me what was wrong. The dryer needed 4 parts. He said he could get the parts and fix the dryer the same day. I said okay. He left for about an hour to go get the parts and came back and fixed the dryer. It performs like new. I was very pleased not to have to replace it.

He was able to diagnose the problem quickly and the part was ordered on the spot. Cleaned up and everything was in working order in a short space of time. Extremely pleased with the service.

Richard was very prompt and resolved the problem quickly. My initial call was returned in less than 24 hours. I made my call on a Friday and I was able to schedule an appointment for Tuesday...great response! After completing the work Richard explained what he found and what he fixed. I have had no problems since. I would definitely use Richard's Appliance Repair again.

Our oven suddenly started overheating and refusing to shut off. The repairman correctly diagnosed the problem and gave us some helpful pointers in considering whether to repair or replace. We opted to replace, he ordered the part, and came back and fixed it - and it worked as promised. Great service, we are happy with the result.
