Called at 8AM and Greg arrived as promised at 11AM. Promptly diagnosed problems and repaired both units within an hour. After restarting both units, he left with a promise to return in two hours to make sure all was well. Greg returned as promised and identified an intermittent thermostat issue which he debugged and fixed. Appreciated the quick follow up. Have been using Patuxent HVAC for 7 years with consistently good service.

We needed a new heat pump,l and I probably got about eight estimates. Patuxent not only had the best prices, but they also were very knowledgable, professional, explained all the options clearly, knew how to fix some of the "comfort" problems we were having with the old system, and promptly returned phone calls and emails! They honored the Angie's list coupon and submitted the paperwork to get me the SMECO rebate. The owner is a "Master" level HVAC contractor. I would highly recommend them.

Job went very well. Job was done over two days. Crew arrived on time, worked efficiently, and made sure work area was clean after they finished.

They were very good. The workers were friendly. The unit they selected I think was better than some of the others.

Prompt and professional service

The install went well, but found the cost a little on the high side.

I looked into heating mostly. We were having problems with our system and the company that we used to use, we couldn't get a hold of them. So we were looking around and we did end up getting a hold of them. We were looking because we were having a hard time getting a hold of the company that installed it and it is called Patuxent Heating & Air Conditioning. The cost was very little because our system is under warranty. The last time was fine. There was just one time. I don't know if he was having issues or what kind of issues were going on, there was one time that we didn't ask for his service but we have been happy with them. They put it in and they are fine. We have been using them for years and there was just one time that we had an issue with them. We have used them since and it has been fine. The grading on price is hard to know sometimes but we were happy with the price. The quality of the service was real good. They are real professional.

Greg was very prompt, responsive and courteous. He even came out on Saturday to finish the job. I love that I even got a call back. I will definitely call Patuxent again for any repairs and replacement.

I had a bad capacitor on my heat pump. I called early morning and they were able to come out by noon. They luckily had a capacitor that worked on the truck. Took about 20 minutes.

Called at 12:05 pm saying that they were en route for a 10am-12pm appointment window. Once on site, service was efficient and professional.

Very knowledgable friendly service provider. Amana 16 Seer Heat pump installed. Works great. Job done well done with no issues. Would use this business' again and highly recommend.

The whole job went perfectly. Greg and his crew had the whole system replaced in 8 hours. They were truly a pleasure to deal with. I can honestly say I wish all contractors were as caring and honest as Greg. He sold me the unit I needed, not something more expensive that I didn't need. They made sure everything was working properly and cleaned up their work area when complete. I would highly recommend Patuxent Heating and Air to everyone.

Estimate for job was free and was able to schedule the job with in a week. Owner Greg Vermillion and crew arrived promptly. After job got started, Greg left for other service jobs. The crew worked efficiently and professionally. Precautions were taken to protect interior of home. Workers cleaned up before leaving and old heat pump was taken away . Greg returned when job was done and checked everything out. Greg was very prepared. He gave us the SMECO rebate and compressor lifetime warranty info we needed. Since the Amana heat pump has a variable speed blower, we had Greg come back to lower the speed. We also needed to have the circuit breaker increased to 50 watts. Greg was very responsive to our needs after the job had been completed. Getting an Amana heat pump vs. a Carrier saved us about $2000 and also came with a lifetime warranty on the compressor. Don't know much about heat pumps. Would prefer if the auxiliary heat would not come on with in 1 1/2 degrees of temperature set. Also, the variable speed blower is adjustable except when the auxiliary heat is on. In auxiliary heat mode, blower speed is on high. For all I know all heat pumps now days function this way. Other than these two details we are very happy with the Amana heat pump.

Everything turned out great! I worked closely with owner. They were very professional, responsive, and on time. They completed the work they were supposed to.

I have used Patuxent Heating and Air before and I have never been sorry. I knew when I got a $900 SMECO bill that there was something wrong. Greg came out right away and explained to us how our old system was fried and offered options. The system was the original to the home so we knew it was time to replace it. He gave us a great price on the unit and it is amazing the difference it has made. Him and his crew completed it in one day and left their work area clean. Greg is reliable, knowledgeable, good prices, and doesn't try to sell you things you don't need. I will always call him first.

He also offered to look at the unit to double check any other issues and while it is old he said other than an annual checkup he saw no need to worry about anything else.

Greg came to check system problem the same day I called. Turned out there was nothing wrong. He took the extra time to check the thermostat setting for backup heat switch-over. Very polite, will definitely use again.

Two words to describe this company "Quality Service" They were on time, professional, courteous, friendly, clean working and very knowledgeable. My new system works beautifully not to mention they gave me the best price I could find. Greg and his crew are definitely top notch.

A year or two earlier we had had a unit installed by another company that was faulty and not installed correctly. The owner of Patuxent came and looked over our situation, fixed the problem and was very professional. He seems very honest, professional and courteous. We even recommended him to our neighbor and they now use the company for yearly maintenance and any other issues that arise. We highly recommend the company to any and everyone.

I arrived home at 3PM on a hot, steamy August afternoon to find that my heat pump wasn't working. Through Angie's List I found Patuxent Heating and Air Conditioning, and called them immediately. Greg told me that he would be out that same evening. True to his word, he was there by 5PM (when I'm sure he would rather have been doing something else), and quickly found the problem. Because the unit had overheated, he had to return the next day to complete the repair. He did so promptly, and soon had me up and running.He was professional, reliable, pleasant, and clearly knew what he was doing. His price was reasonable, and I was impressed that he was willing to come late in the day for a customer he didn't even know. Greg will be doing ALL my HVAC work in the future! Highly recommended!

I noticed the downstairs air conditioner was not working and the fan on the heat pump outside was not running. I contacted Patuxent Heating and Air Conditioning based on recommendations from Angies list. Within 2 hours the technician was at my house. He identified the problem, fixed it with parts he had on the truck, and was done within 30 minutes. Air conditioning is running great and the price was reasonable. He was done and out the door by 11:30 a.m. I would definitely recommend this company.

Patuxent Heating & Air is a gem! We hired them to remove our existing HVAC units and install new high efficient ones. With 2 units to install, it would take 2 days. Because it was near the end of the year and around the holidays, Patuxent worked extremely hard to schedule us for at least one install day prior to the end of the year so we could take advantage of the federal government's tax incentive. Patuxent scheduled us for New Year's Eve!! The guys worked diligently all day long and replaced one of our units. They returned two weeks later and installed the other. We'd received three estimates for this project and Patuxent was by FAR the best pricing and the friendliest. To this day, whenever Gene Vermillion sees us on the road, or in our neighborhood when he's visiting others, he always waves hello. We couldn't be more pleased with a service provider. Within two months of install, our electric bill was literally cut in half. We pay an even monthly payment for our SMECO bill...meaning the cost of our annual electricity is spread throughout 12 months. We went from a $350 monthly bill to $175. To this day, we still pay $175. With these savings, the units will soon pay for themselves.

Following extensive research on products and services (on Angie's List) I asked three vendors for recommendations and estimates on the installation of a new oil furnace in our 60-year old home. Each sent representatives to examine the furnace, house, ducts etc. As I had already selected and specified a Nordyne model I wanted (Nordyne builds furnaces that are marketed under several brand names) this took unit costs out of the equation. Greg who owns Pautuxent Heating and Air Conditioning did the inspection, discussed options and provide a written estimate that was just slightly below the other vendors. As a result of a general discussion concerning our particular need to reduce allergens and dust he asked if I wanted to consider a high-efficiency filter replacement for the standard off the shelf filter we had been using - which we did. Greg and his crew arrived on schedule, removed the old unit (setting aside the heat-pump condenser coil while they worked) modified the ductwork as required and installed the new unit in a single day. They took care to keep the utility room and floor carpet clean, worked neatly, answered all my many questions pleasantly and thoroughly, and were done and gone in a day. During the installation Greg pointed out that the drip-pan under the condenser coils which sits directly on top of the furnace was rusted through, and said that this may have contributed to the damaged heat exchanger on the previous furnace. The new furnace was linked automatically to my heat-pump (switched by hand before) boosting fuel efficiency to an already more efficient unit. Once the furnace began running regularly there was a noticeable oil-canning in the adjacent duct-work. Greg and his crew returned, modified the ducts directly above the furnace eliminating this annoyance. I had purchased an after-market drip pan - but the size and configuration of this prevented replacement. Now, as the weather warms I will be asking Pautuxent to return to install an all new condenser coil.
