Lawn Artists

On May 10, 2023, I got to meet with what appeared to be a great company (Lawn Artists) that I discovered and reached out to after reading so many good Yelp reviews. I was interested in receiving a quote about adding hardscape to my property in Calvert County. Mr. Matt reported to my home within days displaying outstanding customer service and using an awesome drone to survey the property. However, after weeks of not hearing back from anyone, I reached out to the office and spoke with a Ms. Megan who apologized and quickly scheduled an online meeting between me and a Mr. Kevin. Mr. Kevin presented a very lovely design, however; unfortunately it was not what my wife and I were looking for. I used this meeting as an opportunity to help him gain better insight into what would work for us on this property. Mr. Kevin indicated that he would create a new design and get back with me shortly. Well, a month later today (7/13/2023), I spoke with Ms. Megan again and asked this time if I could speak with Mr. Matt. She asked what was this all about and I shared that I would prefer to speak directly with Mr. Matt. I then received a call on the same day from a man who indicated that he was Mr. Matt, however; his voice sounded more like the designer, Mr. Kevin. He quickly asked what I needed and because it sounded nothing like Mr. Matt, I decided to ask if he remembered meeting with me at my home. He replied yes, but kept jumping to the question of what I needed. I then asked if he wouldn't mind repeating what he shared with me about the process of completing a project at my home if I contracted with his business. The person on the phone immediately became highly disrespectful with profanity and hung up when I mentioned that I would be writing a Yelp review because of such disrespect. Shortly after he hung up, the phone rang again and the person (I really don't believe it was the professional guy, Mr. Matt) stated "I knew you were calling to complain about something...you are a "F***king A**hole...and hung up again. He actually shared that Mr. Matt was on our initial design call even though it was never revealed to me then. I hope no one else ever experiences this type of disrespect from a company like this. Whatever happened to the delivery of good customer service? Because I am a Christ Follower, I definitely didn't return the disrespect, but certainly wanted him to know that I would enlighten others about his unprofessional communication. The God I serve will address whoever the verbally abusive person was in this company. It's ashamed since I really thought doing business with this company would have yielded great results.

Pavers are fine however no weed barrier added and the flower beds ended up with more grass in it than our lawn. Looks worse than what we originally had.

It was easy to make the appointment. Lawn Artists showed up quickly and did an excellent job. We are extremely happy with their service and plan to hire them again in the future.

Lawn Artists, led by Matt Curtin, designed and installed landscaping, walkway pavers, and fire pit and stone bench that have completely transformed our home’s “curb appeal”. Matt was easy to work with and patience with our schedule as we completed major upgrades to the home’s roof, siding, and porches. His selection of plants and trees were right on the mark. His employees were always courteous and ensured they left the job site in great order. We strongly recommend Lawn Artists for any work you might be considering.

The first few experiences were very acceptable and the customer service was great. With the last treatment that involved aeration, both my sister and I had similar problems with the grass quality and weeds. Initially, we were responded to but then my second concern was not responded to and I was told that it had gone to SPAM. I then wrote a third time and did not get a response. I then left a voice mail and was notified that the company no longer did business in our area and was given a recommendation for someone else who might be able to help.

They did not acknowledge that big deal was purchased. They would not check books and there was a lack of communication. They would not work with me.

Techs appeared on time worked steadily and finished quickly.

I don't really remember. They did it while I was at work.

The company contacted me after two days in reply to my request for an estimate for the job. Although I was told during my initial phone call with the company that they do service my area, Mechanicsville, MD, for the type of work I needed to get done, when they called me back a couple of days later I was told that they do not do the type of work I needed done for my service area. According to the reviews of other customers that I read on Angie's list before contacting them, this company has done this type of yard clean-up work. This type of work is what was described in the reviews. And many, if not most, of the reviews were recent. So I think either the Angie's list staff and/or Lawn Artist staff should update their profile when they change the type of services they offer, and to which service areas, so as not to waste potential customers' time.

Prompt professional service, liquid spray. Treated lawn when promised/

I called the provider and they were able to send someone out within and hour because they were already near my home. I was very pleased with the service. The person who answered the call was very responsive and courteous. The person who performed the work asked if I was okay with what was done.

Clean-up leaves. Little chips were left all over the yard and street.

These people are off-the-chain fan-tas-tic!! This is the second time we've used them. We have several oak, maple and other trees and the leaves they drop literally blanket about a third of an acre on the front of our property - we would be raking until Spring if not for Lawn Artists. Several techs along with a young lady named Becky who appeared to be the project manager came out and got the job done. Becky was on top of everything - this person is the consummate professional. I swear, if I had my own business and needed to hire someone, no matter what that business was, I would try to recruit her because she has the most incredible "can-do" attitude and I honestly think she could figure out how to do just about anything, and do it right. She was on top of everything, from setting up the appointment to making sure the job was done to our satisfaction, and she was pleasant to deal from start to finish. The rest of the team was excellent as well - they cleared quickly and completely, and were friendly and professional - not a leaf to be found on that large area. Will absolutely not hesitate to call them again!!!

They did okay. The price was good. I was not here. They showed up while I was gone. All I know is what I saw when I came home. I saw that they did it and so, it was done. They gave me a call back pretty quickly.

The service provider performed a routine aeration on a section of my lawn. The service was acceptable with no complaints.

Worker arrived on time. Made one pass over lawn with aerator and over seeded lawn. I had this done in the fall and my lawn did look much thicker and healthier the next spring. Overall, a good service

Very happy with this company. I bought one of their leaf cleaning deals and they responded to me within a couple of hours. It only took them about 15 minutes to do the job, which was excellent to me, since my property is over 3600 hundred square feet. Very professionally done and did not leave any mess behind. This company does not call on the day they are scheduled to arrive, they simply come through according to their schedule. Also, they do not take leaves that are in bags, so make sure all your leaves are on the ground. I would definitely recommend and very happy with their courteous and professional phone manner and the service they provide.

We recently moved and did not have equipment to handle all the leaves and mowing. Lawn Artists was easy to schedule with, the crew did an extraordinary job. Very impressed.

After a few messages back and forth, we decided on a day and they came out and did a good job.

Staff was polite, skilled, and arrived on time. They did an excellent job in removing leaves, cutting lawn, trimming bushes, and cleaning out flower beds. Owner provided estimate of cost prior to work and follow-up regarding the work.

Great job on cleaning up my back yard leaves. Excellent work. I was very very pleased with the service. They even cleaned up my stairs leading to my basement. I would use this company again they did a wonderful job.

There were 6 people that were courteous and quick. They did an awesome job on cleaning up the leaves that I had. I look forward to working with Matt and his crew in the spring time as I have other yard work that I would like to have done.

Yard was properly worked, allowing seed and water to properly plant. No damage to lawn (i.e. tearing up patches of grass or experiencing oil spillage from machine). Job was completed in just a few days after making the appointment. Good people.

I left them a couple of dates & times I would be at home & asked them to get back with me on which date they had available. I told them I was flexible. They took that to mean they could just come by when they were in the area & do the job. By the time I got the message that they would be in the area on a certain day (not one of the days I had listed as being available), they had already come to my home, accessed the backyard & completed the job. I wanted to know what day they were coming so we could secure our dogs inside & so I could speak with the rep & observe the job being done. On the day they came, no one was at home. I was not at all happy with the way this was done. Had things gone as planned, I might have had seeding & fertilizing done or signed up for their lawn maintenance package, as I am disabled & getting older, so I can no longer do the routine lawn maintenance I once was capable of doing. I have had to hire a guy to cut my grass & am looking to sell my lawn tractor & accessories, so I certainly would have entertained subsequent services with this company. But, I never got to meet the rep or discuss the needs my lawn has. They did apologize & I accepted their apology, but I just don't understand why they did what they did, the way they did it. Very unprofessional, from my point of view.

After the initial date was scheduled the provider requested a reschedule as it was too wet to pick up leaves. So, ok, I rescheduled, moving my own scheduled medical appointment to accommodate them. The night before the scheduled date they sent me a message via Angie's list site and said they couldn't make it as they were behind schedule. So, ok, I gave them a choice of 10 days that I could accommodate them, excepting only one date for the day I had rescheduled my medical procedure. They contacted me by phone to ask me to schedule for THAT day. The caller also complained that I was too far for them to come. I could not reschedule my medical procedure again at that point. They grudgingly scheduled for today. They did come today at 9:00 am. They worked 1 and 1/2 hours. They left at 10:15 to about 10:20 am. They left very quietly, never inquiring if I was satisfied. The only reason I know they left was because it suddenly got very quiet. I took a look around and saw the only leaves they picked up were the one they could easily blow with a vacuum, leaving a carpet of leaves behind. I could accept that if they had worked the full 4 hours as that is what the contract was for and that is what I had paid for. I will have to find a way now to clean up behind them to complete the job. I will be paying twice. They are obviously out for a quick buck at their convenience. If you don't mind scheduling at their beck and whim and paying for 4 hours of work and getting 1 and 1/2 hours of work for a sloppy job that they run out on, leaving you to have to hire and pay someone else to finish, go ahead and be a sucker. Otherwise, DO NOT HIRE them!!! They are a rip-off. After my review w as submitted the Provider called. Said they had bent over backward. They had bagged my leaves when they don't do that. The other option to bagging is that they charge you to remove them. Otherwise, they must just leave them in piles on the lawn. He complained that my leaves were wet, so he must only do dry leaves. He became irate. Said I was the most unreasonable person he had ever worked with. When I mentioned his response was anything but reasonable he hung up. He called back within minutes, completely irate, repeatedly call me a f****** b****. I asked if he called me back just to call me that. He said yes. This was immediately reported to Angie's List. Oh, and he is rich and doesn't need anybody. I hope he enjoys his money as he can't be a very happy man.
